Merry (belated) Christmas! I hope you're alright!

So... I think that story will be several chapters long. I am still not sure what is going to happen, but I guess that this at least sets the tone of the story. ... I still miss Supernatural so much!

Have fun with that chapter!

Chapter 1

"What do you mean he is gone?" Dean snarled. "Did he vanish? Did he walk away? Did he say anything?" He balled his fist. He hoped that Jack had just quit his job as God. He knew that this was probably not happening - like ever - but the mere thought of having someone on the lose who was powerful enough to make Jack 'vanish' was sickening.

"I don't know, Dean. I do not feel his presence anywhere." Castiel explained. "we need to act quickly. I have a bad feeling."

"We need to go find Sam." Dean took a deep breath, heading for the door. "You should have stopped him from leaving. Damn it Cas!" Cas followed the older Winchester outside. The Impala was still there. Dean immediately got in. Cas couldn't get into the passenger's seat fast enough. Dean started the cat impatiently "Where did the idiot go?" Dean murmured - more to himself.

"Which idiot?" Cas asked, eyebrows raised.

"My idiot brother", the answer came with a sigh. "Is he close?"

"He is not in peril. He is just annoyed." The angel tried to console the worried brother. "And yes- he is close", he added, knowing that the initial answer wasn't enough.

"We need to do something." The older Winchester rubbed a hand over his face. This was fucking heaven and he was scared. This wasn't supposed to happen in heaven. 'God' should not just vanish. Not anymore. They've been there and it has ended in a catastrophe. "We need to set this right, Cas. I really thought you would know how to handle heaven. You and Jack basically built this from scratch and now this is slipping out of your hands, or what?" Dean's voice was raised now. "Don't you think memory-heaven would be better if you can't control your shit?"

"I think you're misplacing the anger you feel right now and I do not appreciate that, Dean. I will go and find your brother. We'll meet at the roadhouse."

"Cas", Dean talked through gritted teeth, but his friend was gone before he could say anything else.

...

"What the fuck, Cas?" Sam shouted when the angel appeared right in front of him. "Do you want me to have a heart attack?"

"You are already dead. You can't -"

"I know that!" Sam rolled his eyes. "What do you want? If Dean sent you, hold your breath, I don't want to hear it. I am not helping and I don't want him to help." Sam was so frustrated. He turned around to start walking towards the Roadhouse again. He didn't want to hear Cas' reasoning. He didn't want to feel guilty about his selfish ways. He knew that he was selfish. He was already feeling guilty. Heaven was in danger and he couldn't bring himself to do what was needed.

"Dean did not send me." Cas caught up with Sam, straightening his tie. "When Dean is worried, spending time with him is rather unpleasant. You don't lash out when you're worried or frustrated."

Sam raised his brows. He did. He had lashed out on several occasions. Normally he was worse than Dean. "Why is Dean worried? He seemed confident."

"Jack is gone," Cas informed the younger Winchester. He let out a deep breath he had seemed to be holding. "I am concerned about his well-being. I can't sense him anywhere. Not on earth, not in heaven. He would not just leave."

Sam rubbed a hand over his face and slowed down. He just wanted to black everything out. He wanted to get rid of this uneasy feeling that had been nagging him ever since he had learned about the problem. He just wanted to be safe. He wanted his friends and family to be safe. He wanted Dean to be safe. "Cas", he started, not really knowing what he wanted to say.

"Yes?" Cas answered, turning around to face his friend.

"We don't know what it is. We are in no shape or form to face this." Sam sounded like a broken record. He knew that there was no way that Cas would let this go if Jack was in danger. "What are we supposed to do?", he asked - and damn it, he already sounded like he was about to give in.

"I don't know." Cas shrugged. He looked tired. "Sam, I understand your reasoning. It is quite upsetting that heaven is at a state of decay right now. I wished it was different. Nevertheless, we need all the help we can get. This is a threat to all of us. In the end, offence might be the best form of defence. In that case at least. Souls are vanishing and we should at least try to do something about it."

Sam closed his eyes for a second. "Where is Dean now?"

"On the way to the roadhouse. I told him that I would go and find you." Cas started walking again. "We will meet him there."

"Okay", Sam followed the angel, pushing his hands into the pockets of his jeans. "Promise that you tell us everything that happens."

"I will." Cas nodded.

They walked in silence for a couple of minutes until they reached the roadhouse. The Impala was parked in front of the building, with Dean leaning against it. His eyes scanned his friend and his brother as they came closer.

"What the fuck, Cas?" The hunter pushed away from the car. "Okay, we are staying together now. All of us." The man raised a finger and pointed at them. "No more storming off. No more running away."

"Because something that eats souls for breakfast will stop at a knockoff triumvirate?" Sam sounded still pissed.

"Because I want to know where you are," Dean explained without hiding the concern for his brother.

"Castiel", a female voice interrupted the conversation. The men turned around and came face to face with a dark-haired woman. She looked weak, her knees nearly buckling with her own weight. She was pale and she had dark circles under her eyes.

"Sofia?" Cas strode over to her, catching her before she could fall to the ground. "What happened? What is going on?"

"Heaven is falling into darkness." The woman answered. "We will fall again. It will happen again."

"We won't fall." Cas tried to reassure the woman. "What do you mean by darkness."

"The souls are gone. The darkness takes over." Sofia had a pained look on her face.

"Dean", Sam looked at his brother, his jaw set. "That sounds like..."

"Amara." Dean nodded. "I know."
