i don't know why this idea came to be but it just did.

so here we go

sick day

Hermione is sick and doesn't want to go to the infirmary because shell miss Harry's game

this probably has a lot of plot holes but...

Harry thought he had seen everything, that nothing could frighten him. Until the morning of a quidditch match. It was against Ravenclaw's so he didn't need to worry about being extra aware of his surroundings, they were smart and fast but they weren't vicious like the Slytherin's.

Harry and the rest of the Gryffindor team greeted the crowd by waving and even giving high fives before they stooped in their positions. Taking a breath and looking around Harry caught Hermionie's eye.

Even from his distance, it was obvious that she was sick. Her brown hair that had calmed down after their fourth year was resembling her hair of their first year in Hogwarts.

Messy and untamable.

Her face was pale, her lips dry but her cheeks and nose were pink from the cold. Harry watched her shiver pulling the blanket he gave her closer to cover her neck as the wind began to pick up.

Harry tightened his grip on his broom letting out a soft swear before silently promising to catch the snitch fast.

Sensing that someone was staring at her, Hermionie looked up towards Harry. His piercing green eyes staring into her soul. She gave him a weak smile before letting out a small sneeze.

Harry bit his lip watching her shiver again. He was reminded of the events that happened earlier that day.

Harry to his surprise was the first to wake up. On a usual day, Neville was always out the door before Harry could even put on his glasses.

But instead, Harry was up first. He had gone through his morning routine pretty quickly too. Took a shower, tried to tame his hair, changed into his quidditch robe, and headed down the common room to sit by the fire not wanting to be there when Ron woke up.

The common room as expected was mostly empty; a few older kids were there finishing homework before the game.

It was about 30 minutes later that Ron had joined him down in the common room.

"You got this Harry" Ron had first said to him, "the Ravenclaws won't know what hit them"

"Thanks, Ron"

"ready to go to for breakfast...I'm starving"

"What about Hermionie?"

"Harry..she's probably already down there maybe she's in the library"

Harry looked around for a few seconds before nodding and following him out.

The great hall though mostly empty was still buzzing with excitement from everyone but the Slytherins of course. But Harry didn't see Hermionie.

Sitting down next to Ron, he pulled the food towards him fixing two plates.

His and Hermione's.

As the time passed by Harry couldn't help but tap his fingers nervously. More people showed up..more people that were not Hermione.

"harry...Harry...bloody hell...Harry!" Harry tore his eyes away from the doors towards Ron.

Ron shook his head running his hands through his hair, "Bloody hell mate will you stop with the tapping. It's getting annoying"

Harry pressed his hand against the table, "Oh uh sorry. It's just-"

"Hermione isn't here yet. I know" he took a bite of his food before, "she's probably fine" he looked towards the door "or not"

Harry turned towards the door. Watching Herminie walk in.

She in short looked terrible.

Her hair was messy, she was wearing warm clothes but she was still shivering. Dark circles around her eyes and her cheeks pale.

"Sorry...I woke up late"her voice hoarse, she sat down wiping her nose.

Harry pulled the breakfast plate full of food that he had added closer to her.

She gave him a weak smile before she let out a throaty cough.

"Hermione are you okay?" Harry immediately pulled her close.

"I'm fine" she let out a tiny sneeze.

"You're not. Your sick" Harry uttered before giving her a cup of hot chocolate.

Taking it Hermione smacked her lips disappointed before setting her cup down, "ugh"

"What's wrong?"

"I can't taste it" her voice nasally as she complained of the lack of taste.

"Let me take you to Madam Pomfrey," Harry said, getting up trying to pull Hermione up with him.

She struggled before she shook her head, "No I'm fine...if i go to madam Pomfrey I'll probably miss your game"

Harry stares at her in disbelief, "Hermione it's just a game"

"No" and that was that.

Harry the boy who lived was incredibly stubborn, Professor McGonagall often said it was a streak that all Potters had, like his late father. But Herminie Granger was more stubborn and when she put her foot down that was it.

So Harry painstakingly had to deal with Hermione's constant sneezes, coughs, and shivers. To distract himself from his mind yelling at him to take her to Madam Pomfrey, Harry turned to Ron to talk about quidditch. Harry found himself relaxing, not even realizing that his sick friend was starting to use his shoulder as a pillow.

Hermionie with her pounding headache found everything was easier when she closed her eyes. The noise would begin to melt away and she felt warmer. Everything was perfect. She throughout the week had felt a bit sick, nothing too bad, just a sniffle here and there but nowhere in her head did she think she was going to feel like a train had hit her.

Harry hearing no cough or sneeze turned just to notice that his friend was using his shoulder as a pillow and was getting closer, rubbing her face into his shirt like he was the warmest thing in the world.

He turned to Ron silently asking him what he should do. Ron decided not to help, just shrugged his shoulders and continued to grab some food.

Harry let out a sigh before carefully wrapping his arm around her pulling Hermionie closer to him.

Hermionie and Harry stayed like that for a while, that is until the Gryffindor team walked in with the Ravenclaw team following them. The Gryffindors and the Ravenclaws usually got along that was until the new guy in the team started trying to flirt with the girls of the Gryffindor team, who were all very much taken. They came in with yells and threats.

"We have the youngest seeker!"

"The boy who lived!"

"Please that idiot! He's nothing but a brat"

"Brat?! Seems like you forgot that he could wipe your arse in a dueling match!"

"He's nothing but-"

Harry tried not a focus on them but on the girl who seemed to be waking up because of the noise. She winced a little hearing the loud noise before softly blinking her eyes trying to adjust to the light before letting out a yawn that turned into a cough. Harry still had his arm warped around her when she woke up.

"Have a good nap?"

She turned to look at him, only then realizing she was closer to Harry than she thought she nodded, their noses almost touching.

On a normal day, she would probably apologize in a rant and blush profoundly but not today. Today she was tired and she was still sleepy. She let her head fall on his shoulder forgetting about her food and everyone around them.

For the first time throughout the whole breakfast, Harry heard the whispers and giggles around them but ignored them as he pulled her closer.

She let out a small sigh in appreciation snuggling closer to Harry.

Harry fell back into a quiet conversation, running his fingers through Hermione hoping it would comfort her.

Hermionie would occasionally let out small coughs before apologizing and letting out a sigh.

"Harry" Fred squeezed his way between Ron and him.

"The team's getting ready to leave," George said, sitting next to Hermionie.

Harry looked around, "But we have an hour left. We usually don't leave until the last thirty minutes"

They both rolled their eyes, "Captain's orders!"

"I-"

"Potter let's go!" Oliver Wood yelled as the rest of the team started approaching them.

Before Harry could respond the Ravenclaw captain said walking over to them, smirking "Looks like we had the same idea, Wood"

Oliver pursed his lips, "Looks like we did"

"See you at the field", he turned around giving a small wave, The Ravenclaw team began to walk away but a girl stayed behind, Cho Chang.

"Good luck Harry may the best seeker win" looking up Harry saw her smiling at him, holding out a hand as she put a strand of her dark hair behind her ear with her other hand and began swaying slightly.

"You too" gave her hand a short shake before turning his attention to Hermione who had snuggled closer to him.

If Harry had been paying attention like the rest of the Gryffindor team and Ron, he would have seen Cho's smile fall before she left the great hall annoyed holding her broom in a death grip. The team rolled their eyes at the Ravenclaws obvious plan before smirking at the failure of the girl, it was well known that Harry was oblivious to any girl's affection who did not have the name Hermionie.

"Well let's go Harry" Angelina nudged pointing at the door.

He gave them a sheepish look before bending down towards Hermionie's ear, "Hermione.." she let out a humm "I have to go" she nodded her head, but her grip did not loosen, "Hermionie you have to let go" her grip tightened, Harry gently nudged her, "Hermione"

She let out a whine, "No" before snuggling and tightening her hold, "Warm"

"I- " he looked at Oliver who was tapping his foot impatient and his teammates along with Ron who was either holding back a laugh or smirking, tired of it he looked down at Hermione determined, "Fine", he looked down at Hermione, "you have to let go, I have a game to get ready for Hermionie, please?" he heard the Weasleys snicker at Harry's plea.

Hermione once again shook her head, "Carry", the girls were now smiling at his predicament.

But all Harry heard was a yes and without a second thought he swung his legs out, pulling Hermionie with him before standing up carrying her, he threw her a little bit, allowing him to find a better position to carry her, Hermionie wrapped her hands around his neck before letting out a pleased sigh, shaking his head, he turned to look at his team, "I still have to get my broom so I'll meet you there"

Oliver blinked but before rolling his eyes, "Five minutes"

Nodding his head he walked as fast as he could with Hermione in his arms, out of the great hall, passing by the whispers, giggles, and pointing with a head held high.

When he reached his room he planned to leave Herminie on his bed since she was clearly in no position to watch the game but as soon as he began putting her down she tightened her grip on him.

"Hermione, I have to grab my broom," Harry told her, trying again to put her down again.

"Accio Harry's broom" landed on Hermione's right hand before she locked her wrist comfortably around Harry's neck again making sure the broom wouldn't hit him in the back of his head.

"You are absolutely astonishing stubborn Hermione Granger '' Harry uttered a second later, she smiled before letting out a yawn hiding back on Harry's neck.

She smiled down at her softly before he blinked in realization, who would keep her warm while he was playing? Ron would be too focused on the game and Hermionie already made it clear that she was going to the game.

From the corner of his eyes saw a blanket. Harry had originally bought it to send it to his godfather, Sirius but he could give it to Hermionie for the game. It was an enchanted blanket that kept the person warm repealing water and resisted strong winds.

Sitting on the bed he pulled out his wand casting the summoning spell before spreading it over Hermionie and let out a sigh before smiling. Harry after getting a good grip on Hermionie rushed to the field. He of course had surprised some of the students who had not been paying attention in the great hall as well as some teachers.

Professor McGonagall had muttered something about Harry being the second Potter who she has seen do that.

Professor Snape though he did not take off points gave him a glare and a scowl.

When Harry arrived Oliver was waiting outside their tent area. He slapped him on his head before letting him go in.

Fred and George's eyes immediately went to Hermionie who was still in his arms, wiggling their eyebrows suggestively.

Harry scowled, "she wouldn't let go" before sitting down on a bench, Hermionie dropping his broom next to him.

Hermione, much to Oliver's dismay, stayed in Harry's arms until Ron had stopped by to get Hermione. When it was time for her to leave she glared at Ron, reluctantly leaving Harry's arms and quickly wrapping the blanket around her.

"Good luck" her voice was still raspy pulling him in a hug.

Harry smiled, "stay warm, and right after I'm taking you straight to Madam Pomfrey" he felt her expression change into a scowl but felt her nod.

Hearing the whistle signaling the start of the game, Harry began to look around. The Ravenclaw seeker, Cho Chang kept giving him smiles and little waves confusing him.

As he moved he noticed the girl move into his vision, twirling her hair around one of her fingers

The teams overall were doing good. Gryffindor of course was winning, 120-80. As the game continued he saw something that made him want to find the snitch faster, a rogue bludger. Heading straight for him

He barely heard Jordan Lee's comment of his bad luck before he had to dodge it.

"Looks like the second year repeats itself" Harry mumbled to himself "well at least I won't lose my bones this time"

George thankfully hit it hard enough to give Harry enough time to scout the area for the snitch.

Harry seeing the little thing fly near the Ravenclaw team he flew closer to them with Cho not far behind him. Looking out for the bludger caused him to lose the snitch and almost lose his head. One of the Ravenclaws beaters had thankfully hit it hard like George, the bad news was that he hit it towards the crowd by accident, the Gryffindors, where Hermionie was sitting. The crowd luckily dodge the stupid thing but he still looked around hoping to find the golden ball.

The Gryffindors in that section forgetting about the rogue Bludger stood up and cheered as the Gryffindor team went up another 10 points.

Harry couldn't help but look towards Hermionie who was grinning, her cheeks pink from the cold. He smiled softly at her, before squinting his eyes, realizing what it was his eyes widened, "Hermione duck!" he yelled, rushing towards the tower.

It was too late, the rogue hit Hermione in the arm, the impact caused her to fall over the stand.

The people around leaned forward to watch her fall gasping, Hermionie was screaming, her hold on the blanket had loosened.

The bludger now heading straight for him, Harry faced it head-on before in the last minute flying downwards and catching Hermionie. She landed on his arm, wrapping herself around him like she was before.

"How's your arm?" Harry asked flying up looking around for the bludger

"Fine" she stuttered out.

"I have a game to finish" Harry started looking at the snitch that was flying down in the field before he saw the bludger heading his direction again, "but seems like I'm going to have to take you with me"

Harry without warning flew towards Fred who hit the bludger towards the forbidden forest allowing Harry to dive down towards the snitch.

Cho unfortunately had also spotted the snitch and was flying straight for it counting on Hermione to slow down Harry. They were both necks to neck with neither one stop. The snitch however decided to fly closer to the stands making Cho look uncertain but Harry seemed determined. The snitch flew uncertain left and right before deciding up. Harry and Cho both were closer than anyone would want to to the stands, panicking Cho stopped her broom before the tight turn up could happen, Harry however did not hesitate and in a second was flying up the tower, his feet a centimeter away from the building. But the snitch was being devious and not wanting to be caught tried to do a curve to fall back down. Harry, fortunately, caught the snitch before it could win the game for his team.

330-240.

The crowd cheered for Harry as he held the snitch. Unfortunately, the rogue bludger was still at loose, and when Hermionie cast the spell to stop the bludger it had already hit Harry on his right shoulder. Fortunately, the hit wasn't hard enough to push Harry and Hermionie off the broom. The rogue bludger thankfully just fell into the field not hitting his broom letting them land safely in the field before Harry and Hermione were crowded by the Gryffindor house.

Harry hugged Hermionie closer to him whispering in her ear, "let's go to Madam Pramfrey"

Hermione nodded her head that was resting on his shoulder.

"Can you walk?" Harry asked softly.

Hermionie winced with the loud sounds, the ride in the broom though pleasant had made her stomach swirl with nausea. Her head was spinning and her arm was throbbing in pain, "I-", before Hermionie could finish her legs gave out, she fell into Harry's arm.

"Hermione?!" Harry winced as he lifted his right arm to pick her up, looking down at her, Harry noticed that she had blacked out. Carefully he grabbed his broom slowly riding it towards the castle into the infirmary.

When they reached the infirmary, Madam Pomfrey was standing there, her hands on her hips looking exasperated. Harry laid Hermionie on the bed next to the one assigned to him (it had his name in a plack).

"What are we going to do with you Mr. Potter" she gave him something to heal him and as soon as she cleared him he rushed to Hermionie.

"She has a bad cold," Harry told her, "I told her to come right after i found out but she was too stubborn"

Madam Pomfrey shook her head but continued to work her magic on Hermione.

"What happened," Hermionie asked looking around

Before Harry could answer her, Madam Pomfrey walked into their little corner, "You were hit with a bludger and had a cold. '' she gave Hermione a stern look, "you won't be leaving this bed until you feel better.

"Noo" Hermionie complained, "why can't i stay in my room?"

"Why because how will I know you are following orders? Staying in bed. You have to at least stay in bed for a whole day. That means no library no classes and no going to watch quidditch practice"

Hermione blushed, "I wasn't-" she stooped at Madam Profreys look "what if Harry looks after me?"

"Maybe she's right Her-" he stooped at her glare, "Madam Pomfrey, I'm sure Hermionie would feel much better in her own bed, plus she'll have her books so she's not bored."

"Very well but you take care of her Harry Potter"

Harry nodded his head. After a few minutes of waiting, Harry to Hermione's request carried her back to the Gryffindor tower. The whole house was already there celebrating in the common room.

"There he is, the man of the day!" Fred started

"Harry Potter!" George finished.

The cheers continued causing Hermionie to wince at the noise.

"How's Hermione?" Ron asked looking down at her worried,

Harry rolled her eyes, "she's fine, she would have been better if she wasn't so stubborn" Harry winced letting out a hiss when she pinched him on his arm

"Shut up Potter" Hermionie grumbled.

"Anyways, she's on bedrest now '' Harry looked at Ron who was smirking at him.

"Which speaking of bed rest, Hermionie time for you to let go" Harry gently nudged

"No" she tightened her grip

"Again Hermione? Madam Pomfrey said you need bed rests you know i can't walk into the girls' towers" Harry tried prying her hands off but it just caused her to tighten her grip which caused him to lean closer to her.

"And you told Madam Profey that you were going to take care of me" Hermonie shot back.

"Here i have a solution" Ron smirked, "just lay her down in your bed" Harry opened his mouth to protest, "and before curfew just let her know it's time for her to go back to her dorm, it's better this way, Hermionie is going to be all alone" Roon gestured to everyone around who although tried to seem that they weren't listening where listening, "everyone is done here celebrating you can keep her company"

"But Hermione"

"Hermione thinks that's a brilliant idea" Hermoine cut off harry, "well let's go"

Harry glared at Ron before walking Hermionie up the stairs to his dorm, "you are impossible Hermione Granger"

When they were out of view and a door shut, the crowd broke out.

"5 galleons they kiss" George shouted.

"5 galleons Hermione spends the night in the boys' dorm," Fred said

"10 galleons they get together by the end of this year," Ron said

"You are on"

Soon everyone had placed money on bets of when the oblivious duo would get together.

A few girls commented on how romantic and cute they were, while the other girls were commencing of how romantic Harry was, while a few boys gagged of how Harry was pathetically whipped.

the party had been broken up by Professor McGonagall at 4 in the morning, she of course stayed and waited until everyone had walked back into their rooms and everyone had seemed to forget about a pair until they walked into the room.

Ron and the rest of his dorm mates had laughed their way up into their room until Neville froze blushing.

"Hermionie is still here" Neville whispered frightened.

The realization hit the boys at different times but it had the same result all the boys had turned scarlet remembering that Hermionie was in their dorm but relaxed when they saw Harry's curtains were closed probably with a spell. after all, carry liked his privacy. unknowingly to everyone in the room she had taken of the piles of warm sweaters she had come down with during breakfast and was wearing one of Harry's shirts and had transfigured her jeans into shorts to be more comfortable. Harry was laying next to her his arm wrapped around her with her head rested comfortably on his chest.

Fred had won the next day 5 galleons.

And the whispering around the couple didn't stop until they announce the day before the end of the school year that they were together effectively winning Ron 10 galleons.
