Chapter 2
D.J., Stephanie, and Kimmy sat on the couch in the living room knitting some baby clothes.
"The baby is going to look so good in these booties I'm making her," D.J. said. "Or him."
"Nice try," Stephanie said. "I'm not revealing the gender until after the gender-reveal party tomorrow."
"I'm knitting the baby a onesie," Kimmy said. "I can't wait until he or she is so snug. The baby will feel protected."
"Or smothered," Stephanie said.
"My mom knitted me onesies until I was 10," Kimmy said. "I turned out fine."
"Define fine," Stephanie said.
"I'm so excited for my date night with Steve tonight," D.J. said. "First we're going to have a romantic dinner and dessert. And then after that, we're going to the movies."
"Nothing says romance like a bucket full of popcorn and a package of Milk Duds," Kimmy said.
Steve entered the house with a white rose bouquet.
"Steve," D.J. said. "Those are so beautiful!"
"Only the best for my wife," Steve said, handing the bouquet of roses to D.J. and giving her a kiss.
"Gross," Stephanie said. "Get a room!"
"Why don't you get a room?" Steve asked. "Oh wait, you do have a room. I believe it's next door."
"I'm going to go get ready for our date night," D.J. said, getting up and walking towards the stairs.
"We're not leaving for another four hours," Steve said.
"Four hours!" D.J. exclaimed. "I've got to get moving!"
D.J. hurried up the stairs and Steve looked at Stephanie and Kimmy.
"Who takes four hours to get ready?" Steve asked.
"Well," Stephanie said. "Preparing for date nights requires a lot of work for a woman. First you need to take a bath or shower."
"Then you need to figure out what you're going to wear," Kimmy said.
"Then you've got to figure out your jewelry," Stephanie said.
"And then there's makeup," Kimmy said.
"That is a lot of work," Steve said.
"Stephanie!" D.J. shouted. "Kimmy! I need you!"
"Almost forgot," Stephanie said. "Sometimes you need someone to help you figure out what to wear."
Stephanie and Kimmy got up and walked upstairs as Jackson, Ramona, and Max entered the house.
"I still cannot believe I didn't get invited!" Ramona shouted. "I'm fun!"
"Don't worry," Jackson said. "It's probably just a boys only party."
Rocki came into the house.
"Guess who just got invited to David's party!" Rocki cheered.
"You have got to be kidding me!" Ramona shouted before storming into the kitchen.
"You two have fun at the party," Steve said. "I'm going to make some dinner reservations."
Steve walked upstairs and Rocki looked at Jackson.
"Okay," Rocki said. "Spill."
"What do you mean?" Jackson asked.
"Your mother would never let you go to a party past 8:00," Rocki said.
"I convinced her it was my right as a senior to attend a party," Jackson lied.
"She said no and then you went behind her back and asked Steve," Rocki said.
"Okay," Jackson said. "You're right."
"I think I like liar Jackson," Rocki said happily.
Rocki and Jackson shared a kiss as Ramona came into the living room.
"Gross!" Ramona shouted. "Get a room!"
"You get a room!" Jackson shouted. "You know, in your house next door!"
