Chapter 4: The Battle of the Atlantic.

Marco put his cap back on. His hands on the handle, he first listened to what was happening outside. The footsteps of running soldiers, the frantic shouts and yelps, there was a considerable crowd moving through the hallway. He wouldn't be recognized in its dense panicked state.

He looked at his map of the ship and saw where the VIP protection was. He opened the door and started heading towards it. Although no one batted an eye, Marco kept the tip of his hat down just to be safe. Pushing through the soldiers he was going against the crowd. Whereas most soldiers were going away from the center of the building and into their respective battlestations, he was going in deeper. But he wasn't exactly a soldier.

He reached an armored door. The crowd behind him had dissipated, most of them operating their weapons. Marco gave the door a knock, a hollow metallic sound coming from it.

"Identifizieren Sie sich." A voice came from the other side.

"English?"

"...Identity Yourself." They had a thick german accent.

"Oh, um…" Marco looked at the door handle "Officer Dorian… Handlen…"

"...'Handlen'?"

"Hansen! Hansen…" Marco quickly said "Dorian Hansen."

"That's two first names."

"Just let me in please."

"It's unlocked."

"Wait, I thought this was the VIP room! Wouldn't your important generals and stuff be in here?"

"It's mostly for diplomats. Generals would be out there commanding. I'm a translator."

"Oh. Makes sense. I'm coming in!" Marco turned the handle and pushed.

The door opened revealing the translator. Inside were rows of metal seats lined along the wall. "Why can't you speak German?"

"I'm… A guard for the diplomats. That's why I'm here. Is Princess Star here?"

"No, but the King and Queen are."

The King and Queen were sitting on blankets on top of metal while everyone else sat on bare metal.

"So it's Queen…"

"She's Queen Moon." The translator whispered.

"Hello, Queen Moon." Marco said to her.

"Hello, officer."

"Do you know where Princess Star is? It's a security concern, seeing as she's not here."

"She was taken to the bridge, we told the captain about her magic powers."

"Alright, thank you. I'll check up on her and report it to the Captain."

"Wouldn't the Captain already be in the bridge-"

"Bye!"

Marco quickly got out and closed the door behind him. He started towards the bridge, thinking Magic?

Marco pulled out his map many times. The battleship Bismarck was massive.

When he finally got to the door to the bridge, a guard stood by it.

"Heil!" They did the salute.

"Oh, uh…" Marco was uncomfortable "I'm looking for the princess."

"...was?"

In some dark dark corner of Marco's brain, he remembered 'Ich' was German for

'I'

"ICH GOCH INCH THERECH."

"Du was?" The guard looked at Marco as if he just spouted nonsense.

"Dang. Hm…" Marco came up with a plan. He pointed at himself.

"Du…" the guards seemed to be nodding along. Marco pointed at the door.

"Du gehst da rein?" The German pointed at him then at the door.

"Ja! I want to go in there!" Marco remembered that 'Ja' was german for yes. He learned that from watching some WW2 action movies.

"Nein" the guard said. Unfortunately, Marco knew that 'nein' meant no. He slowly walked forwards anyways.

"Nein!"

Marco held his hands up "Ich… have… friend inside."

"Du… habe… freund?"

Marco pointed to the door "Friend inside. Compromise?"

"Kompromise…" he raised his gun then motioned for Marco to go in. He moved

at a sluggish pace, as the slightest misunderstanding could cost his life. He slowly opened the door handle and pushed the door open.

He was greeted by the backs of a few people. Most were unfamiliar, but one was

someone he recognized.

"Star!" He shouted.

She turned around "Oh hi Marco! What're you doing here? And who's your

friend?" She motioned at the guard that had Marco at gunpoint.

"Star, please tell these people that I'm with you."

"Alright!" She spoke through a translator, and called the guard off.

"Thank you."

"So, why'd you come all the way up here?"

"Just didn't feel safe all by myself."

"Yup, sure seems like you're definitely safe up here. You even had a personal guard come with you!"

"It was better than risking someone checking the room and questioning me. Why were you called up here?"

"They heard of my magic!" She pulled out her wand.

"I refuse to believe that you have magical-"

She waved her wand and a rainbow magically appeared.

"I-" Marco was dumbfounded "I want to see more."

"Well I can get some puppies-" The translator tapped Star on the shoulder and whispered something.

"Oh, I can show you the trick I told everyone here about! Follow me!" And follow her Marco did. A crowd started to gather as they walked, and by the time Star stopped at some sort of control panel, almost everyone on the bridge had gathered around with Star and Marco at the front.

One man pushed through the crowd. He seemed important, with his grey beard and uniform adorned by many medals.

"Hello, Princess Star Butterfly." He held out his hand "My name is Captain Lindemann."

"Hi!" Star took his hand and shook it.

"Who is this?" The Captain put his hand on Marco's shoulder.

"Personal Guard!" Star was quick to respond. She winked at Marco.

"Why does he have an SS uniform?"

Marco was surprised that the costume was that historically accurate "It's a coincidence, Mewni has the exact same uniform."

"Huh, ok. Star, I have heard that Mewmans can do great... otherworldly things."

"I'd use magical instead of otherworldly, but hey whatever floats your boat!"

"This is a battleship."

"I know, just pulling your leg!"

The captain raised an eyebrow.

"Star, he can't understand slang." Marco whispered.

"Oh. So anyways Captain, wanna see those 'great otherworldly things'?"

"Gladly." The Captain seemed relieved.

"Great!" She faced the control panel. It had a view of the entire deck, able to see the ship, the ocean, and even the vague silhouette of the enemy. She raised her wand.

"PROTECTIVE-DEFLECTIVE-SHIELDTIVE-PREVENTATIVES-DAMAGATIVE!"

She blasted the wand into the control panel. Immediately, Marco could see pink light stream from the panel and into the wires, into the pipes, and presumably distributed into the entire ship.

Marco saw, from the windows, a sphere form around the ship. In a pink hue and having a grid-like pattern, it encompassed the ship.

In the distance, an enemy ship fired a full volley from their cannons. Those missiles hit the dome, and Marco couldn't even feel any sort of shockwave. The Captain stood there, eyebrows raised.

"So that's why this ship won." Marco whispered "Star, how'd you do that?"

"From my experiments, that had a 50/50 chance of working."

"That's really dangerous-"

"Princess Star!" The Captain shouted "You've won us the battle!"
