How can you love us?
How?
After all we've done.
Considering all that we are;
By all means, you should despise us!
We are sin incarnate,
and you have said that you hate sin.
So why do you love us?
It's clearly not something we did,
For you have said all our righteousness is like filthy rags.
It's clearly not our good, righteous heart.
For we have said in our heart of hearts
"we will ascend to the midst of the Heavens
and make ourselves like the most High."
We are no better than the devil!
We oppose all that you stand for!
The only love we have is for our own pride
and those who validate it.
I don't think we even know the meaning of the word
"selflessness."
So, how do you do it Lord?
How can you love us?
What's your secret?
How can you love something so worthless?
How is it possible that you can have so much love
For a race of abominations?
I want to genuinely know
How you can be so aware of our unholiness
And yet treat us like you do.
