Consider this a remake of the Kingdom Hearts: Legend Re:Made with the two chapters basically combined into this one. Thanks again to Aragorn_II_Elessar for the feedback on the ideas that I had given him for the last story and this one.

The great force known as the Darkness was spread across throughout the worlds overcoming them with the power of the Heartless; they would find the Keyhole of the world and then consume the world. An invasion spurned on by an alliance of villains from various worlds seeking to use the Invasion to find the way to Kingdom Hearts and rule all.

The Light had its own champions in those who bear the Key, there weren't many left but there existed others who could be called upon with strong hearts. Those determined to be worthy of the Key such as a boy who dreamed of seeing the worlds and would use it to protect his friends including his slightly younger best friends.

But Destiny has a way of being challenged such as when those predetermined would be led stray of their course...

Destiny Islands, an island village in the middle of the sea where there were countless families and children there. Many of the children and teenagers liked to play at the beach near the village. Several young teenagers had been gathering together materials to put together a raft, hoping that they could use it to sail and explore the world outside their island. An idea that had been inspired by stories of pirates and adventurers that they had heard growing up.

The pink dress wearing short red haired 14 year old daughter of the village's mayor Kairi was cheering for her two best friends as she and the other friends in the group were taking a break to watch the two have a wooden sword duel. There was the 15 year old light purple haired boy in a yellow sleeveless shirt and dark blue pants Riku fighting against Sora the 14 year old spiky brown haired boy in red attire along with a black and white jacket.

Riku grinned as he took Sora down with him dropping the wooden sword that he was using, "Lost again Sora." Riku told Sora smugly as he extended a hand to help the unhappy looking Sora up.

"You got lucky Riku; next time I will get beat you!" Sora muttered with Kairi laughing while shaking her head along with the others. Sora was always challenging Riku to races and wooden sword duels with Sora usually losing and kept on wanting a rematch. There were mutterings and stares from them and the trio noticed with glares towards them was a certain disliked trio.

"So you kids are playing pretend with your wooden swords?" said a 16 year old blonde haired boy in a black winter hat, white sleeveless longcoat and holding blue bat with a yellow sword like handle. The boy Seifer Almassy was joined by Fujin a short light purple haired girl of few words in a purple sleeveless jacket and Rajin a large brown haired muscular boy in an orange sleeveless shirt.

"Perhaps you kids playing pretend should scram from the beach or else the Destiny Islands Disciplinary Committee will have to issue punishment!" said Seifer but then Sora came glared at them with a fighting stance with his wooden sword. Seifer was a local bully who liked to threaten people with his two friends, calling themselves 'the Destiny Islands Disciplinary Committee'. Their so called authority was entirely self proclaimed and most didn't take their attempts to issue punishments seriously. However Seifer was the star player at school in the sport known as Struggle which used bats as swords.

"Leave us alone Seifer, we were playing here first Seifer." Sora told Seifer sternly as the trio just laughed; Riku was coming to his side telling him to get back.

"So you were playing like kids? Typical of you Sora, reading about stupid bedtime fairy tales and tell me... Do you still believe in Santa?" Seifer mocked as Sora stood still defiant. "I see your stupid raft is coming together, hopefully drowning to death will put you back to reality." Seifer continued on as Sora snapped back.

"Coming from you, you like to talk about being a knight to a sorceress but you don't behave like a noble knight yourself." Sora fired back as Riku then forced Sora to stand back against him but the others were cheering for Sora for it as Seifer' mood along with his friends darkened.

Seifer had idolised the main character of a movie called Zefer about a noble knight of the same name serving a sorceress and proudly boasted that he would be like him one day. Riku was daring Seifer to fight with his glare and Seifer saw the others joining the group in a crowd. Seifer glared as he turned to leave, his group were mostly bark and no bite especially when it came to potentially getting on the bad side of the Mayor due to Kairi being involved. "Perhaps Riku, you should keep your sidekick on a tight lease and tell him of the roles that people are supposed to serve in the stories they are in." Seifer fired at him as he left with his squad.

The group began patting Sora on the shoulder but Riku glared at him, "You should have just left Seifer alone and let me take care of him. I could have sent him running no problem without you interfering." Riku admonished Sora as Sora gave a look in response.

"Do you think that I can't take him?" Sora asked and Riku didn't want to speak his honest thoughts on the answer to the question. Sora kept losing to him in sword fighting and racing and didn't really think that he could accomplish much on his own.

"He was right about one thing; you shouldn't be trying to be like a hero in your childish stories Sora. This is real life and once we set forth then you will need to grow up to survive." Riku told him sternly but Sora shook his head while having his arms crossed, Riku didn't think this talk would get through to him as they rarely did.

Still once they get the raft up and running then they can leave this stupid island and he would look out for both Sora and Kairi as they away from Seifer, his thugs and their stupid fantasies made from a movie. Riku set out to be inspired by actual real life stories like the one of the boy who long ago had dreamed of leaving the very island they are on and had successfully left it to venture forth. A story of someone who had a real life adventure and could be used to inspire someone.

Not like fairy tales and other fiction...

Soon it was getting late in the afternoon and Riku and Sora were about to head home but then they both heard something coming from the direction of a secret cave place that was behind the nearby waterfall that was at the beach. They came towards it and came across a doorway?

They didn't think it was meant to be there as it seemed fancy and the doorway was keyhole shaped? It seemed to be radiating a dark feeling about it. Sora kept scared by it but Riku felt drawn to it, that it wasn't something to be afraid off and then they saw shadows on the wall of black imp like creatures. A larger shadow had a heart shape hole in its centre and Sora was wondering if they were dreaming.

Riku felt the feeling and the shadows welcoming to him, like they could help them leave the island and explore the world out there. He reached out to force the door open while walking by a large of light. Sora noticed it and thought it was calling to him, while wondering if he should be scared of it like the door he decided that his curiosity drew him to touch it.

The light formed a key shaped light in his hand and disappeared, Riku then saw the door disappeared as well. Confusion they went to the exit of the cave and saw Kairi looking for them. "Sora, did you want another rematch with Riku? It's getting late and we don't want you both to get cold in the dark." Kairi admonished them both and they both decided that they were just daydreaming just now.

They both went home back to their families unaware of how their lives would soon change or the forces at work.

On a faraway world there was the desert kingdom of Agrabah; it's where the caravan camels roam, its heat was intense, it's flat and immense, it was chaotic but to the citizens it was home. In the palace clapping her pet tiger Rajah was a 15 year old black haired girl with a light blue headband, light blue sparkly royal looking tube top, light blue sparkly royal pants and light blue shoes.

She was Princess Jasmine the only child of the Sultan of Agrabah, though she loved her father very much he was quite overprotective of her. She was not allowed beyond the palace gates and beyond Rajah and visiting relatives she had didn't really have friends. Not being allowed to see the world outside the Palace gates and get to know the people that she would someday rule over. How could she expected to be a good ruler of her land if she barely knows anything about it?

Plus the traditions and law that she would have to follow, she would have to choose one of the visiting princes as a suitor to marry before her next birthday. Most of them were stuck up selfish jerks and she can't imagine spending anymore time with them, never mind marrying.

She then heard a sound coming from the outside of her chambers and she looked through the slightly open door with Rajah and saw the tall black robed wearing form of her father's royal vizier Jafar holding his golden serpent staff. She had never liked Jafar at all as he seemed to be cold and uncaring despite the illusion that he had played to her father of being a loyal dutiful servant. When she had brought up Jafar to him he would always respond with something the likes of:

"Don't worry Jasmine as I trust Jafar with my life and to act in the best interests of Agrabah, I happen to be a most excellent judge of character..."

She then noticed something radiating off him, was it some sort of dark magic? "You want to follow him with me Rajah?" Jasmine whispered to her tiger suspicious and curious is something was up and Rajah gave a nod in return. They quietly followed him down to the underground chambers which seemed like a lab.

She noticed a map on a board and saw it had several places circled around it, "Sherabad?" Jasmine couldn't help but ask out loud in confusion, Sherabad was the birthplace of her late mother and was an allied kingdom of Agrabah. Did Jafar have some plans in store for the place? She went towards the board and saw on the desk underneath was an open book and she looked at the cover of it. It was a book on something called the Heartless?

"Nosey little Princess, be grateful that you will be needed alive and that it means that you can have a front row seat as I take your birthright as ruler of this land away from you." Jasmine heard a low voice tutted and she gasped when she saw that Jafar had noticed her. The gem in his staff began glowing and then out from the ground came portals and evil looking imp monsters with yellow eyes. They then began charging over her but then Rajah came and charged at them.

"Rajah!" She yelled in fear helped Rajah up as they pushed him back, they then began running up the stairs as fast they could in fear as Jasmine took the book with her, she had to go and warn her father. She saw him at the top of the stairs and told him urgently "Father, I have proof now that Jafar is up to...

However to her shock his eyes made him look like he was in a trance and Jafar laughed at he slowly walked up to him, "put him like this to make sure that no one would be ready for when I take the kingdom." Jafar gloated with his staff's jewel growing bright red and Jasmine tried to snap her dad out of it. Rajah pushed her to keep running as the monsters began gaining on them.

They had to go through the nearest door and then ran through the large door of the palace gates before they could spot them. She looked towards the buildings of the outside of the walls for the first time in this night sky and how she dreamed of looking around, if only better circumstances. "I knew that snake couldn't be trusted, that he would try something one day..." Jasmine snarled as she and Rajah went and found an empty building to hide in.

She read the book and found out about the imp monsters called the Heartless and they can be best be stopped by a weapon called the Keyblade. If she wanted to save her father, stop Jafar and whatever plans he has for Agrabah and Sherabad then she would need to see about tracking down a wielder of the Keyblade which were known as the Key Bearers. Still they were both tired now so they layed down on some nearby blankets as they would see what to do in the morning.

Sora had been woken up by the sounds of screams in the morning and he quickly got dressed and looked out his window to see what was going on. To his surprise the sky was filled with darkness; there was no moon, sun or stars anywhere. He didn't see his mother in the house and outside people were running and screaming while running away from small monsters that looked like imps and were dark except for their yellow colored eyes.

Freaked out, he was wondering if his friends especially Riku & Kairi were alright, grabbing his wooden sword he then ran out and looked towards all around him. Trying to be brave he then tried to attack the monsters but they didn't even faze them at all. He then ran as they began going after him, not noticing that Seifer was helplessly trying to fight the monsters with his Struggle bat with Rajin and Fujin cheering him on.

"I am going to save the day, I am going to be the heroic knight..." Seifer ranted trying to attack the monsters but then everyone gasped when they saw at the sea was now a giant monster like the monsters but with long claws, tendrils from the head that were like hair, small thin wings and a giant heart shaped hole in its body.

The giant monster then went to grab Sora with him trying to shield himself with his wooden sword and with his eyes closed, not noticing his hand shining a bright light. After a second he heard people react in shock and awe, he opened his eyes to see the monster put back his claw like it was harmed.

Sora looked to his hand and was shocked to see that he was no longer holding his wooden sword but in its' place was a key like weapon. It had the golden hilt of a sword with a keychain attached to the bottom of it, the keychain being a circle with two other circles attacked to it, the blade of the weapon was like a giant key.

Sora then tried attacking the monsters around him and he saw to his shock that it hurt them and he actually managed to destroy them after enough hits. He then had to dodge as the giant monster put its claw down at him again and then attacked it. He then attacked some more as they tried to swarm him and jokingly told them "Where's the fire..."

However to his shock a blast of fire came from the blade of his key weapon and deciding to try it, he pointed it at several of the monsters and shouted "Fire!" Beams of fire well fired out and it seemed like magic. The giant monster puts its claw down to grab him again and he attacked it.

The monster then had its head down and Sora began attacking the head until it was destroyed, there was Seifer and his goons staring at him open mouthed. "No way, pipsqueak Sora is not deserving of whatever that weapon is! I am the one who is to be a hero knight and that should belong to me!" Seifer yelled jumping at Sora grabbing the key from him but to their shock it disappeared and it reappeared in Sora's hand.

He then kicked Seifer in the gut to push him off and to his surprise there appeared a door before him, it was just like the door that he and Riku had found in the cave the previous night. He tried to open it and it was locked, thinking of his key he then pushed it into the keyhole and turning it seemed to open it. He then was able to open the door with it filled with light and he hesitantly walked forward. Hopefully it could lead to him finding Riku and Kairi again. Hopefully with this key then he could make sure that they are alright.

Seifer angrily watched Sora walk through the door of light and then chased after him with his goons not that far behind him. Not long after they left the Darkness had claim the Destiny Islands as it had other worlds before...
