A new update for you guys : ) have a great week, many blessings.

"Hey man, how she is doing?", Severide asked as soon as he saw Matt coming from the hallway, Shay by his side. Matt didn't call anyone at first when Gabby was admitted to the hospital. After all, he didn't know what exactly was happening, only Gabby had vagina bleeding and had cramping in her lower tummy, during their route to the hospital she had vomited and when she didn't respond him after a few seconds he worried thinking she had fainted. He was right, after parking the car, he opened the back door and she was unconscious.

They had done an ultrasound exam, Gabby was awake when the doctor told them the news, then Matt called Severide and Shay, telling them to come to Chicago Med.

Matt stopped before his friends, his eyes filled with tears, hands on his hips, keeping his head down, "... she didn't make it,... Elizabeth... she...", Matt lifted his head, "... she is gone...".

"Oh, man-", Severide uttered, his attention going to Shay.

"No... it can't be true... Gabby... I...", Shay was shaking as she sank back into the seat behind her.

"Gabby... she is not okay... I mean... mentally...", Matt started sobbing, a hand covering his mouth to muffle his sob. Severide's heart broke for his friends, pulling Matt to a hug, he let his friend cried on his shoulder as he had a hand over Shay's shoulder, squeezing it. Her quiet sobs hurting him as well, he knew how Shay was excited for the baby Elizabeth, everyone from Firehouse was.

A few minutes later, Matt pulled away from his friend's embrace, "I... I have to go back...", he said wiping the tears from his face. "I want to be there when they take her to the procedure...".

Shay stood up and hugged Casey, "We are here for you guys, anything we need...".

"Thanks, Shay... I'll let you all know when they allow visitors... she'll need her friend more than anything", Matt attempted to give her a small smile.

"We can keep the kids, if it's necessary-", Casey cut Severide off.

"They are with Antonio and Laura, that's the reason Antonio is not here... we didn't want the kids knowing what is happening, not right now...", Casey spoke looking around, afraid for what was coming. Maya, Antony, and Jacob were very excited about the new member of their family.

"Okay... I'll call Chief Boden and tell him you're not coming to work later...", Matt just nodded at his friend.

"Oh, I almost forget... you think you guys could bring some clothes for Gabby..." Matt didn't want to leave her alone.

"Of course", Shay responded. "We can do that... don't worry... anything else...?"

"I'll check with Gabby, and I text you...", Matt ran a hand through his hair.

"Yeah, we are going waiting for your text, then...", Shay looked at Severide as touched his arm, "... come on, Sev...".

He stared at Shay, "... let's go...". He and Matt shared another hug, and Matt made his way back to Gabby's room.

...

Quietly Matt opened the door, Gabby had her fixed on the ceiling, tears rolling down from the corners of her eyes.

"Babe...", he walking in, going straight to her side. "hey...", he wiped some of her tears, her eyes still fixed on the ceiling. He leaned down and kissed her forehead a few times, "I'm here, we are going through this together...", his own tears appearing again. "I love you... I love you, Gabby...".

"I want to feel her again, Matt...", Gabby had hands rested over her belly. "I want my baby, Matt...", for the first time she gazed at him since he entered the room.

"If I could... I wouldn't let that happens to you, Gabby... you know... Like you, I want her back, but I can't bring her back, baby...", Matt caressed her face.

Gabby went back to look at the ceiling, "I want my baby, I want my baby...", Gabby burst into sobs, her whole body shaking as Matt shielded her in his, he held her tightly as she grabbed his arms.

"I'm sorry, Gabby... I'm sorry...".

After a moment later a nurse prepared Gabby for the surgical procedure.

Matt and the nurse were a few feet from Gabby's bed.

"We are gonna give a sedative to help you relax...", gazing at Matt the nurse said, "... it usually takes 10 or 15 minutes, then she is staying for at least five hours in this room, after that she'll be ready to go home, the doctor are gonna prescribe an antibiotic to help prevent infection and some pain medication to the cramping after the procedure".

"Alright... the doctor had explained to us earlier... you'll be there with him?" Matt required.

"Yes, sir... when he finishes I inform you, okay?"

"Thank you, please take care of my wife..." he asked one more time.

"Matt...", Gabby called him.

"Hey, I'm here... I'm here... What do you need?" he asked worried, her face in distress.

"I want to go home... I don't wanna be here... Please take home... Matt, I don't wanna go with them... please, Matt...", her voice in despair.

"Darling, listen to me... you're gonna be fine... in 30 minutes I'll see you again... I'll be here...", he tried to calm her down.

"I'm not sick... you don't understand... I want to go home...", she pleaded with him. "I need to be home... Jacob will be asking for me-".

"They are fine, remember... they are with Antonio...", Matt looked at the nurse, nodding at her. Silently asking for them to intervene before he watched his wife in more distress.

"Matt... I don't feel her, something is wrong..." Gabby'eyes roaming his face.

"I know, baby...", tears filled his eyes once again. He kissed her forehead several times as he listening to his wife saying she wanted her baby... again and again.

...

Today, it's Gabby's first day back to work since... they lose their baby.. she shook her head as looked at the mirror in the bathroom.

Matt tried to convince her to give it another week, and rest some more, it didn't work though, she told her husband, she was ready. At least it's what she saying to herself for 20 minutes while locked in the bathroom.

"Gabby, babe... Gabby... is everything okay?", he knocked on the door a second time, and this time the sound startled Gabby.

"Yeah... I-I'm sorry...", she checked herself on the mirror, then turned around to open the door. "I'm sorry, I-I didn't notice that was locked, sorry...", giving him a half-smile as avoiding to look him in the eyes.

He looked her up and down, his eyes lingering on her face searching for any signs of dismay and pain, he knew they were there, yet she was putting on a brave face for him.

"Okay, it's alright", he arched his eyebrows and sighed. "I'm gonna prepare the snacks and you can take some time for yourself-", Gabby intervened.

"It's not necessary... you are not fully dressed to work yet, I'm, so I can make the snacks... okay?", Gabby squeezed his hand briefly as she walked past him.

Matt didn't have time to respond, she was out of his view before he could reply. He already missed her hand on his, there is not much of that since she came from the hospital two weeks ago. He misses his wife even them living in the same house together. How it could be possible? he didn't know.

"Maya, hurry up...", Gabby shouted out as she was preparing her kids snacks. "We are just waiting for you...". Gabby was slicing some apple to them, it was a good thing they liked fruits, her and Matt never had a problem with their children eating vegetables as well, because that she had added a few baby carrots in their lunchbox.

Matt kissed her on the cheek as she was standing against the counter. she was caught off guard, she froze for a second, but recovered quickly as Matt gathered with his sons around the table.

"Where is Maya?" Matt took a seat beside Antony.

"Antony, please go get your sister, please...", Gabby turned around to get something in the fridge.

"But, mama-", Matt cut him off.

"Do what your mother asked, come on, buddy...", Matt looked him in his eyes.

"Okay, dad...", Antony voiced weakly, though he went further.

"I'm here... sorry... I can't find my pink shoes... I'll have to go with these...", she said upset.

"I'll try to find the pink ones tomorrow, come on... breakfast, lady...", Gabby said joining them as holding a jar of fresh orange juice.

40 minutes later Matt was parking his car at firehouse 51. Gabby unbuckled her seat belt, Matt, as well, before she could open the door.

"Gabby, wait...".

She stared at him.

"Tell me, you are sure you fine, Boden will understand if you-".

"I'm good, Matt. I've already told you that. I meant it last week, every single day, last night, this morning... I don't know how many times I have to say to convince you that- that I'm fine, I'm not made of glass for god sake-", she spoke harshly and regretted it as soon as those words left her lips.

Matt's eyes widened.

"Look-" Gabby started, but Matt opened his door before she could finish. Then he took his bag on the back of the car waiting for her to do the same. When he saw her bag on her shoulder he locked the car and started his way to the firehouse 51, Gabby would have to wait for a better time to talk to her husband.

...

A couple of hours later...

Casey heard a knock at his office's door... Shay was standing there waiting. The blinds were down, that's why she knocked first.

"Come in, Shay...", she entered his office. "You need something?" he didn't turn his head, he kept his focus on the report on his desk.

"Actually, I thought I would find your wife here, it seems I can't find her anywhere...".

Matt turned on his seat and stood up, crossing his arms.

"I'll check the locker room again..." she turned to walk out.

"Since when you don't see her or talk to her, Shay?" Matt gave her his total attention

"One hour or more... she said she would be here, we had a tough call involving a baby... Anyway, Chief Boden asked me to take her to his office a few minutes ago, that's the reason I'm here...".

"You tried to call her...", Matt pulled his phone from his front pocket. He got worried.

"Yeah, of course... however she left it on her bed, I saw it there...".

"Tell Chief she is taking a shower, so she will be there in a few minutes-".

"But she is not there, I've checked it...", Shay argued.

"I'll take care of it, please tell him what I said to you...", Matt insisted on it.

"Okay... okay, Casey...", Shay walked out, and he went to the Chief's office.

Maybe, just maybe he knew where his wife was...

"Gabby... Gabby...", he walked slowly in the shower stalls, "Baby... you are here?", there was one shower stall with its curtain closed. "Gabby...", he stepped forward and pulled the curtain to the side.

What he saw broke his heart, his wife in tears, sitting in the corner of the shower, she seemed so small and fragile. He walked into the place and kneeled.

"Come here... come here, babe...", he sat beside her and pulled her closer to him, hugging her tightly. "I'm here... I love you...", she was crying so hard that she was shaking uncontrollably. "Tell me what's going on... tell me what you are feeling...".

Gabby clung to him, like she was holding on him for dear life.

A couple of minutes later... Gabby was sitting on Matt's lap while they were in the shower stall, "I'm sorry for being rude at you earlier...".

"Gabby... we lost a child... if yelling at me will make you better, I'm here... I'm here to be everything you need...", he caressed her face as wiped some of her tears.

"I'll never know someone as good as you, Matthew Casey..." with her hands resting against his neck, she leaned down and kissed his forehead. "I love you more than anything... never forget that...".

Gabby's lips lingered over his, and they kissed each other softly a couple of times. He wrapped his arms around her, their chest against each other.

Pulling away slightly, Gabby requested: "Could you...do me a favor?", she hesitated as her eyes studied his face, "Could you take care of the kids for me?"

Matt blinked a few times, narrowing his eyes at her,... "Gabby... what are you saying?" with a sad expression.

They locked eyes as Gabby swallowed hard, "I-I can't stay here, Matt. I'm falling apart... I'm going to Puerto Rico".
