The day before the Grey-Sloan doctors left Seattle for Zurich, they had one final meeting with the attendings.
"Alright, everyone. Tomorrow, a majority of doctors and almost all Department Heads leave for a week. Please follow the schedule given by yours Chiefs." Jackson said.
"All senior residents have been told to divide the week amongst themselves and so atleast two of them will be on-call every night. For this entire week all of you are going to be considered on-call for emergencies." Meredith added.
"Guide the residents but also give them some room to work themselves. In all, just take care of the patients and the hospital when we are gone. Residents, this is the time for you to prove to us that you are capable of being attendings. Do not disappoint." Bailey said, ending the meeting.
All the doctors had planned to travel in the same flight. So, on Tuesday morning, they all met at the Seattle Airport, ready to Switzerland. The hotels were booked for each of the majority of them and a mini-bus as well, to take them from the airport to the hotel. Cristina, too, was meeting them at the airport and was going to take Meredith, Derek, Alex and the kids with her to her house.
As their flight was called, they all headed to board the flight, glad their seats were together. Everyone knowing Meredith, Derek and Arizona's justified uneasiness of flying, decided that the couple shouldn't worry about the kids. So, Zola sat between April and Jackson while Amelia and Owen took Bailey. Callie was also right beside Arizona with Sophia, ready to comfort her.
Meredith and Derek were sitting beside Alex, who had taken the window seat. As the flight took off, Meredith grabbed Derek's hand holding it tightly with her left and Alex's hand with her right, while just behind them, Arizona did the same with Callie. Derek too was holding the arm rest tightly. Alex gave a re-assuring glance towards the couple.
The plane soon levelled out. Meredith told she was going to the washroom and left her seat. After a moment, Derek followed her, causing Alex to smirk. He knocked at the door and Meredith opened it. As soon as she had opened it, he almost forced himself inside and bolted the door once again.
"What are you doing here?" Meredith asked.
"You wanted me to come." Derek replied, roaming his hands on her sides and letting his fingers graze her bare skin.
"No. I did not." Meredith pulled away slightly, amused at her husband's antics.
"Fine, but we both need a distraction, and what better way?" He said, finally pulling her for a deep kiss.
"Uhh... Derek... Mmm...Yeah.." Meredith moaned in between kisses.
Derek opened the button of her pants and then lifted her onto the counter. Still lost in the kiss, Meredith started opening the buttons of his shirt and roamed her hands across his chest. Derek too opened the top buttons of Meredith's shirt once he had removed her sweater, to access her chest easily.
"Need you...now" Meredith said, panting.
Derek obliged and pulled her pants down, taking her panties along with it. Meredith worked on Derek's belt and had soon opened it. She pushed the pants and boxers down, freeing his member. She stroked it a few times, making it harder than it was. Derek took her hands and lifted it above her hands. He held them there with one hand and gripped her waist with the other as he pushed into her, filling her up.
He thrusted hard and Meredith matched him thrust to thrust until they came together. They quickly cleaned themselves and got dressed. As Meredith opened the door of the washroom, she saw a guy standing there.
When he moved to open the door and enter, she stopped him. "There is someone still there." She said awkwardly.
"Oh..." He smiled. "At least one of us is having fun in this flight. Me and my fiancé have been bickering the entire time." HE said.
"Which one?" He pointed to guy a few rows in front of her seat.
"Handsome." She smiled.
"I know." He replied. Just then, Derek came out of the washroom and smiled at the guy. "Also handsome." He said.
"I know." Meredith winked and followed Derek back to their seat.
"If that's the way the two of you will relieve stress..." Came Callie's voice, teasing them.
"I'm pregnant. Hormones." Meredith said as an excuse.
"Aah! Innocent ears here." Amelia remarked covering her and Bailey's ears.
They sat down and fastened their seat belts. After a few minutes, the plane roughly jerked a few times. Luggages were thrown out of their holdings, people fell too.
Meredith moved to get up but Derek immediately stopped her. "We can't help them if we get injured ourselves. Sit tight right now."
The plane shook once more, before calming down a bit. They all at a sudden got up.
"Meredith, Derek... You guys."
"No. We will help." Meredith replied, adamantly.
Arizona spoke. "Strap Zola in Callie's seat and give Bailey to me. I'll hold him." She said. Amelia nodded and gently took a sleeping Bailey out of his seat and gave him to Arizona. April too helped Zola walk to her.
They approached the head flight attendant and told her that they were doctors ready to help. She herself had sprained her wrist, so Callie worked on her while she made the announcement that the passengers could ask for medical assistance.
Meredith saw that an elderly woman was on the floor, so she immediately rushed to her. The man she was talking to a while back was also on teh floor. As he was showing some neurological problems, Derek and Amelia went to her. The themselves busy tending to any calls for help.
Alex saw that a young boy was crying, while his mom was trying to console him. "What happened?" Alex asked.
"The luggage came out of nowhere. We tried to stop..." Told the da,d concerned for his kid.
"I'm a paediatric surgeon. Let me have a look." Alex said, as he positioned himself to get a good look at the injury.
The flight attendant made her way to Bailey. "The captain has asked me to get your credentials." She told.
"What?" Bailey said in the middle of her examination of a teenage boy.
"If we're gonna let you all examine passengers, I need to make sure you are qualified." She pressed.
"Let us..? Go away." Bailey swatted her.
"Come here." Said Arizona. The attendant was confused, but still went. "That, is the Chief of Surgery at Grey-Sloan. The blond at the back, is the Chief of General. The doctor who tended to your arm, Chief of Ortho. We also have the chiefs of Trauma, who has worked for the army in Iraq, Chief of Neuro and two of the hospital's most experienced surgeons as well along with many... basically the entire leadership of Grey-Sloan. Anything else?" She challenged.
"Aah..." Came a voice suddenly.
"Robbins. Got a pregnant women." Came Richard's voice.
"Oh God! Mer, I'm strapping Bailey tightly to his seat, alright?" She shouted.
"That's fine." Derek said. Arizona asked the flight attendant to pass on the car seat. She buckled Bailey in and after some effort., got up. "Now I am the Chief of Fetal and Neonoatal surgery."
"Robbins, you sure?" Alex asked.
"Yeah... I'm sure." Arizona forced a brave smile and went to the mother in distress.
As the fligth finally landed in Zurich, the doctors were exhausted. "That was..." Meredith said.
"Yeah." Callie agreed.
"I'm never flying again." Meredith said.
"With you on that." Arizona said.
"Derek, Meredith, Arizona, great job all three of you." Richard said from behind. Bailey nodded smiling.
"Took an oath." Derek replied. Meredith just put her head on Derek's shoulder and closed her eyes, while the other passengers were making their way out.
While they were on the runway, the captain of the flight came to them. "Thank you for your help, doctors. We are grateful." The doctors nodded and made their way to the immigration counter so that they could leave the airport.
Just as they were exiting the gates of the airport, they saw Cristian waving at them. She rushed to them. "Welcome to Switzerland." She told to the group.
"Thanks." Bailey said.
"How was the flight?" She asked.
"Oh, do not ask." Commented Arizona.
"Eventful at best.," Said Owen.
"You should quit flying." She said, particularly to Meredith, Derek and Arizona.
"I'm with you on that." Meredith commented. "Can we please move ahead, I really need to lie down."
"What's wrong? Why didn't you tell something?" Derek asked concerned.
"I'm fine. Just would like to put my feet up." Meredith said.
"Okay... Okay.. come on." Cristina said, ushering the group to the multiple cars.
In one big vehicle, Alex, Derek, along with the kids sat while Meredith and Cristina got in another one with all their bags. These two cars headed for Cristina's house. In the remaining three vehicles, the other members of the group sat and went to the hotel, which too was close to the house.
"Nice place, Yang." Alex said whistling.
"Thank you. I have one room prepared for the kids, one for Alex and one for you two." Cristina said looking at the couple. "Yours is also close to the kids'.
"We get a separate place?" Said Derek pretending shocked.
"Yeah.. yeah... you think I'll be the same room as you and your hormonal sex-loving wife?" Cristina retorted.
"Hey! I'm standing right here." Meredith exclaimed. "So, I'm going to my room. You two can continue bickering." She said, and went upstairs, Derek following her but puling her back for a hug and kissing the side of her head. "Go, get some rest." He whispered to Meredith and then called for the kids to come along.
"Those two are still the same." Cristian said, pretending to be disgusted.
"Even more so right now." Alex agreed. "By the way... do not mention Tequila right now." Alex warned her, recalling his conversation with Meredith.
"Dude! Stupid pregnancy!" Cristina groaned. "You want something to drink for now? They are asleep."
"Sure. After the flight, the strongest drink you have." Alex told.
"tell me what happened.." Cristina asked eagerly as she prepared two drinks for both of them.
After Alex had completed narrating the events of the flight, Cristina was shocked. "No wonder Mer is tired and that is what Robbins meant." Cristina now understood.
"Yeah, Arizona was sitting with the kids until there was a pregnant woman in distress." Told Alex.
"Man..." Cristina exclaimed. "any fatalities?" She asked.
"Thankfully none. There was someone serious with a brain bleed but both Shepherds were able to manage it." Alex replied.
"That's good." Cristina said, "What about you, huh? How's the intern?" Cristian asked.
"she's no longer an intern." Alex said. "You still shacking up with Ross?"
"Oh, no. I can't be seen sleeping wit subordinates." Cristian said.
"Anyone else?" He pressed.
"There might be one... nothing too serious yet, though. He is my date to the vow renewal; you'll meet him then." Cristina confessed.
Derek had got the kids settled in, who too wanted to rest after the long journey. After making sure that they were comfortably asleep, he went back to his room and found Meredith lying on the bed, her eyes half-closed.
"You need anything?" Derek asked her softly.
"Hold me?" She asked, patting the bed space beside her.
"Of course." Derek smiled and kicked off his shoes to get in beside her and gently put his arms around her waist.
Meredith turned slightly to peck his lips and put her head on his shoulder. Both of them soon went of to sleep getting some much needed rest.
