~DreamScape~

Concentrating on the well and the god tree, Kagome focused on every miniscule detail she could recal from her time. Remembering the Sunset Shrine, she smiled as the image of the world around her began to shift.

"Oh, cool! Where is this place?"

Jumping, Kagome turned and grinned. Both Sasuke and Naruto stood in the yard of her childhood home. "Tokyo, Japan, look out that way," she pointed behind them, and watched them turn to see a city view that looked out from the top of the stairs of the Sunset Shrine. "This is where I grew up. My time, five hundred years in the future from where I am right now."

Naruto's eyes were wide in awe, "that's right; you said you're stuck in the past."

"You can't return home?" Sasuke frowned, looking out over the city, he stepped closer to the edge of the stairs. Looking down, he felt his heart skip a beat at the sight of the sunset crawling along the streets and homes of Tokyo, Japan. This was nothing like the world he and Naruto were from.

"No, I mean, I tried to go home, but that door shut a while ago." Stepping up next to the young Uchiha, she sat down on the top step, "Welcome to Japan."

"How long have you been stuck in the past?" Taking a seat on her other side, Naruto stared out at the city.

"It's been a few months."

"..."

Closing her eyes, she played with the time of day, the break of evening. When the sun was just setting, and the city looked like it was burning with the touch of the suns light. "You both are on a mission still, right?" She opened her eyes and peered at Sasuke who grunted in annoyance, "not going well?"

"Kakashi's still hurt, so he has to rest while we protect the Bridge Builder."

"It sounds like you three need some help," she sighed, "I wish I―oh," Kagome stopped and sighed, "probably shouldn't make any wishes."

Sasuke glanced away from the city view and looked at Kagome, "why's that?"

"I only have one wish, and if I make it, it will certainly come true. Wishes shouldn't be made unless they are pure."

"Pure wishes?" Naruto looked thoughtfully, "what does a pure wish, entail?"

"A wish that isn't derived from desire?" She wasn't all that sure herself. Shrugging, Kagome smiled, pointing up as a plane flew overhead. The two watched it fly past them with a roar, leaving a trail of clouds in its wake before disappearing in the distance. "I don't know what a pure wish is. That's why I haven't made a wish yet. I'm not confident enough to attempt making a pure wish." She felt a shift in the scenery and watched as it changed from the city to a forest. "What?" She found herself standing atop a stone monument of some sort. Peering over the edge, she saw faces carved into the front of the monument. Each one as unique and different as the last. "Where..."

Sasuke smirked and glanced back at a grinning Naruto, "this is Konoha."

Her eyes looked down at the busy streets. Unlike the Tokyo she'd just shown them, it was bustling with life and energy. "It's wonderful." Lying on her stomach, she thought she could watch the scene in front of her forever. It felt like home. A mix between the past and her present.

"Kagome, hey, I want to show you all of Konoha!"

Kagome looked up as his hand caught her eyes.

"Come with us."

Kakashi looked to the two boys lying asleep in the room with him. Across from him, Sakura was fast asleep, but Sasuke and Naruto? Well, yes, they were also asleep, but...it was curious. Naruto lay asleep on his stomach while Sasuke was on his back, but their hands met in-between them. He'd never seen them lay so close to one another. Sure, they'd been sitting closer to each other and working better together, but this? Part of him wanted to let it slip in front of Sakura. What would the two say? He was really curious. As he thought about it, he became more enamored with the idea of causing his two male students to fumble a bit tomorrow. Something about the image felt personal. Familial. Kakashi smiled, 'these two, they may be rivals, but they cling to one another like brothers.' Laying down, he reached across the way and brushed a stray lock of blonde hair from his number one, knuckleheaded student.

His hand lingered, his eyes closing as he listened to the soft breathing of his two students. Pulling his hand back, he let sleep drag him away from the reality around him.

"...you guys are...practicing running up trees?"

Standing in the center of one of the training grounds, Sasuke and Naruto were explaining their most recent lesson with Kakashi, their Sensei. Sasuke's feet glowed a light blue and drew her attention as he walked past her and started up the tree. "The Adhesive Jutsu, it's more than running up trees."

Her eyes widened a bit as she watched him walk leisurely up the tree. "How cool."

"I can do it too!" Naruto chased Sasuke up the tree and grinned as he pointed at his feet. "See?"

"You two..." Kagome smiled, "keep up the good work, together."

Sasuke scoffed, "together? This guy will only hold me back."

"I think you know better than to believe that. Naruto is strong and passionate. Someone like that will always push forward and succeed in a way that we, as humans, can only strive for. I had a friend who was just like him."

"Oh yeah?" Naruto grinned, "does that mean he's some famous guy now?"

"No, he's dead... but that has nothing to do with how he pushed himself to succeed. Inuyasha chose to follow his first love to hell."

Sasuke and Naruto both stared in shock at Kagome, who was still looking at the tree in awe. They jumped down on either side of her and watched her silently.

"In all Inuyasha's success, while alive, he wouldn't have made it half as far as he did without his friends." She looked away from the tree and turned her attention to Sasuke. "Meanwhile, Sasuke kind of reminds me of someone too. Lord Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha's older brother. He was talented in ways that Inuyasha never could be, and the distance between them was something that they both could see and couldn't seem to get rid of. Oddly enough, the only way they were able to destroy the distance was by working together. So I say it again...work together, decide together, listen to one another, and the two of you will bypass all the odds. Ah, just curious, but does the word "Summon" mean anything to the two of you?"

Naruto frowned, "summon? Like summoning?"

"Yeah, what does it mean to you?"

Sasuke cocked his hip, "are you asking about Summoning Jutsu?"

'It's a Jutsu?' she smiled, "Is that what it is? Hm, think you could summon me?"

"What?!"

"I'm just kidding!" She laughed.

"Say, Kagome," Naruto turned and took a seat across from her, this set off a chain as Sasuke and Kagome sat down on the grass in their shared dream. "You made a promise the other day, remember?"

Kagome nodded, "yes, I do. I owe it to them too. This much, I can do this much." She said, then carefully dipped into the story of her past.

~End Dream Sequence~

Kakashi woke up early in the morning. Sakura was still asleep; the sun hadn't even started to rise yet, so he wasn't surprised. Sasuke and Naruto, however... He looked around the room. 'They're gone?' Standing up, careful of his injury, he made his way silently from the room and downstairs. No one was up yet. Leaving the house, he made his way towards the trees where they'd been yesterday.

"The last one to the top is a loser!"

"Considering that's your nickname, we know who will be last!"

Kakashi stopped a distance from the trees and leaned a bit against the one closest to him. These leaps and bounds. He had been watching the boys over these last few months. When did they become so close? Had he missed something?

"Hey, about what Kagome said,"

'Kagome?'

"Is it possible to summon a person?"

'Who is Kagome?'

"I don't know, but I'm sure someone does. We could ask Kakashi. I mean, it would be kind of cool if we could."

Staring at Sasuke and Naruto, both were standing on the tree without a worry in the world. Kakashi shook his head and narrowed his eyes in thought; this conversation, from his perspective, made no sense. '...who's Kagome!?'

"She's been stuck in the past for so long."

"Naruto, what if she had people there that she doesn't want to leave. You and I are alone, that doesn't necessarily mean that she is."

"...auUUGH! I don't know."

'Hm, interesting. I don't know who this Kagome is, but it seems she's responsible for the change in their chemistry.'

"Let's take things slow, and learn more about her. I'm sure, one day, we'll be able to meet her outside of your dreams."

'...outside of...' Kakashi stepped back into the shadows as the two jumped down from the trees. 'Hm,'
