Hello everyone. For those of you who don't know me I am 7lights13darknesses. I have recently and quickly become a part of The Owl House fandom. I watched all of season 1 in about two or three days. I came up with this story idea at random thinking about Disney shows and movies. So I hope you enjoy my first Owl House fic. This takes place between Grom and the Grugby episode.
Also this is a part of a bet I made with a fellow fanfiction writer to see who could make a better version of this story. We plan to upload our stories around the same time.
Gus: The author does not own the Owl House but he wishes he does.
Gus? What are you doing here? You're supposed to be getting ready.
Gus: Oh don't worry. I'm just an imitation. We were told you like to do this kind of thing. Talking to the characters and all.
Yep. Maybe later you can see some of the others. I write stories for a couple different fandoms. But I'll wait to tell the real Gus.
(At the Owl House)
"Amity, my severent! Help me" King yelled, hanging on to a giant box fort that almost reached the ceiling. At the bottom was a giant pile of King's stuffed animals. Speaking of King, it looked like he was about to fall from the fort and Amity was at the very top holding the top of his paws. Luz was about midway down the pile of boxes watching King hanging from the ledge in fear. She also has her cat hood on.
Amity leaned down and smirked at King in an almost evil way. "Long live the King." She said before picking up King's paws and letting him fall to his doom.
"Nooooooooooooo!" King yelled as he fell. "I have been betrayed. I will have my revenge!" But before he could hit the pile of stuffed animals everything seemed to have frozen in place as if time itself had stopped.
Oh hi it's me the author again. So you may be wondering what's going on. Well if the title doesn't give it away I guess I should start from the beginning. You see Luz here is a human that ended up this magical land call- Oh right you already know this. I guess you didn't want that beginning. Alright, well to explain what's going on in this scene we must go back to earlier today just as Hexside ended classes for the day.
(At Hexside School)
"What do you mean you've never seen it?!" Luz exclaimed wide eyed. She was staring at her three friends Willow, Augustus (Gus), and Amity in shock. Grom had ended a few days ago and Luz couldn't stop talking about the night after her and Amity had fought Grom. She keeps thinking how fun the rest of the night was and has been comparing it to Disney movies she has seen. It felt so magical. Although how much of it was because of actual magic she wasn't sure.
She had mentioned to Gus and Willow how the night felt like a Disney movie. Her and Amity being the Grom queens, fighting Grom, and the party itself. Unsurprisingly the two asked what Disney was as neither have heard of it.
"It is a big and scary corporation trying to take over the Earth by buying one franchise at a time. And it is all ruled by a single mouse." Luz said dramatically, putting her cat hoodie on to hide her face a little. She tried to do an evil laugh but it didn't sound evil. It sounded more like she was coughing.
Willow looked confused, not sure if Luz was joking or not while Gus was hiding behind Willow shaking in fear. Willow rolled her eyes and patted Gus's hair to calm him down.
"Sorry Gus I didn't mean to scare you that bad." Luz quickly apologized.
"It's okay. I just wasn't expecting it."
"Good. Anyways Disney is a company that makes movies mostly for kids and families. They have many based on fairy tales like Cinderella or Snow White. They also have others like the Lion King-"
"The Lion what now?" Amity asked walking up to the group. Luz for a moment forgot that none of her friends have seen Disney movies.
"You know the Lion King? One of the best movies of all time." Luz repeated as if Amity would now know what it means.
"I've never seen that." Amity said, confused. This led to the outburst Luz expressed earlier.
"We've never seen Disney movies before Luz. Remember?" Gus reminded her. "It does sound interesting though. Do you think I could take this 'Disney movie' to the human appreciation club?" Gus asked, hope filling his eyes. This gave Luz an idea as she snapped her fingers.
"Yes but we have to do something first. I am going to show you all a Disney movie. Meet me at the Owl House." Willow and Gus nodded in excitement while Amity seemed hesitant for reasons Luz didn't know.
"At y-y-your house. I-I mean the Owl House?" She asked, seeming to blush. "Are you sure?"
"I don't see why not my fellow queen." Luz responded not realizing Amity was blushing even more. Ever since Grom Luz kept referring to Amity as queen as long as she was in a good mood. "You've been there before. Just this time it will be for an after school get together instead of a life or death situation." Luz joked referring to the memory incident.
"Y-yeah." Amity stuttered as she cleared her head. "So what time do we need to show up?"
"Just head over as soon as you drop your stuff off at home. Eda is on some important errand and won't be back until later tonight so we will have plenty of time to hang out. I'm going to head down there to get things ready. I'll see you there!" Luz quickly ran out of the hallways of Hexide and to the Owl House to get ready.
'I wonder what Eda had to do today anyways?' She thought in her head.
(With Eda somewhere in the forest.)
Eda dodged a magic fireball before returning one of her own to her attacker. "One of the few times I need to find some wild ingredients in the forest and somehow you find me. Can we just skip to the part where I beat you?" She smirked.
"I am afraid not sister. I have orders to take you in. It would be easier if you would just corporate." Lilith said. Hovering above her. She had about twenty guards with her.
"Well there goes my afternoon." Eda said getting ready for the coming fight.
(Back with Luz)
"Eh. Probably nothing important." Luz said out loud as she neared the Owl House.
"Hey Luz. You want to hear about my day?" Hooty asked. When she was in hearing range.
"Sorry Hooty not right now. I have some friends coming over and I need to get ready."
"You're not going to try to do another conjuring or anything like that are you?" Hooty asked, suspicious.
"Nope." Luz said as she opened the door. "Besides that's only once a year." She added before closing the door leaving Hooty to wonder if that was a warning.
"Luz you're home!" A certain tiny demon yelled, jumping up into Luz's arms and climbing on top of her head and putting the hood over him so she couldn't take him off. Despite what he may say he needed his cuddle time.
"Yep. I see somebody missed me." She teased King.
"A King does not miss his servant. He just misses their services." King explained.
"Whatever you say King. Hey I need your help with something."
"As supreme leader I should say no but my curiosity gets the better of me."
"I need to find something from the shed with the human stuff Eda has collected. I think I saw something in there I need."
"And that would be?" King asked for her to elaborate. He is still hiding under the hoodie.
"A tv and a player for movies."
"Why? We have the crystal ball."
"Yes but I want to show this Disney movie to my friends and to do so I need a human tv."
"You do know you have to ask permission to have friends over right? Especially after the bringing the house to life incident."
"Well technically yes but Eda did say I was in charge while she is gone."
"...Are you sure you're not secretly Eda's child or something?" King asked thinking that the loophole Luz found was very much an Eda thing.
"As cool as that would be no I am not. So are you helping me or not?"
"Well sorry Luz but this King needs to go finish his royal nap. If I was already in there then maybe I would h-"
"Oh good. We are already in the shed. I walked in here while you were under the hoodie." Luz giggled.
"Wha-" King looked from under the hoodie and saw that indeed they were in the shed. "You tricked me!" He yelled. "I don't care what you say at this point. I am convinced you are Eda's child.
"Oh you can finish your nap later. Now come on and help me find the tv. I will look for the VHS player." Luz proposed. She decided to ignore that last thing King said.
"Fine. But don't mistake me helping as kindness. I just don't have anything else to do." King explained as he jumped down to the floor and started to search the piles of human 'artifacts.'
"I know I saw a VHS player somewhere." Luz thought out loud. Not too long ago Luz had looked through some of the things that Eda has collected throughout the years. She found some old VHS tapes including a copy of The Lion King. She didn't think any of those even existed anymore with how old they are. She also found a player but hasn't tried to use it until today. "I hope that the player still works. Or the tape for that matter."
"Well none of that matters if we don't get the TV does it?" King asked sarcastically.
"Have you found it?"
"I think so but it seems to be holding all this stuff." King said pointing to some boxes surrounding the square TV.
"We should be able to move these easily." Luz went to grab a box not realizing that there was another on top of that. She pulled out the box and looked inside. "Oh so that's where-"
"No no no no. Luz look out!" King warned but it was too late. The unstable pile fell on the two completely burying them.
(Later in Living room)
After getting out of the boxes like zombies, Luz and King went back to the living room to set up the TV and VHS player that happened to be in the box Luz had grabbed. Luz put the TV on the table in front of the couch and plug it in. To her complete surprise and joy it turned on.
"Now to get the rest working."
Twenty minutes later.
"I can't figure out how to get this player to work. I think I am missing a cord or something. Why does there have to be so many? And why are none of them an HDMI?"
"Have you tried plugging in those colored cords? The TV has some of the same colors on the back." King suggested. Lus looked at the back and saw he was right.
"Well I feel like I am blind right now but thank you King." Luz then proceeded to plug in the cords and the rest was easy to figure out from there.
"Your welcome. Also your friends are here."
"Ok thank yo-" Luz started before the words registered in her head. She looked up and saw Willow, Gus, Amity, and her siblings were all standing next to the couch watching Luz in some form of amusement. "Ah!" She exclaimed falling off the couch.
"Are you okay Luz?" Amity asked, walking up to her reaching out her hand.
"Yeah I'm fine. Thanks Amity. Also not that I don't mind but what are the twins doing here? And how did you get in?"
"We overheard Mittens here talking about coming over to your place to watch a movie and thought that if Mittens thinks it's interesting-" Edric started.
"Then we have to check it out." Emira finished. "Also we really wanted to see the Owl House in person. Looks more homey on the inside than the outside."
"And Hooty let us in. Said he wanted us to surprise you." Amity answered.
"Thanks. Anyways you all showed up at the perfect time. I was just about to put the movie in and get it ready."
"Awesome. I can't wait to see it. Uhh...what was the movie again?" Gus asked.
"It's called the Lion King. It is a movie about this lion named Simba that ran from his troubles and his evil uncle takes over the pride lands which is basically the kingdom."
"Well the King part has me hooked but I have to ask, what are lions?" King asked. The others in the group gave her curious looks as well. Luz sometimes forgets that her friends don't know a whole lot about Earth or what lives on it outside of humans (which is also very limited in knowledge). They now some of the animals like dogs and cats. And apparently Giraffes are from this world. So thankfully it isn't too hard to explain.
"Well they are basically giant cats. Have big paws, are very furry, think of them like King, if his fur was a golden brown color, he didn't have a skull showing, and if he was about four times his current size."
"Hey! I take offense to that."
"I think we get the idea." Willow replied while trying to hold back a coo at how adorable King was. So was almost everyone for that matter.
"Let's get this movie started. I can't wait to see what human movies are like." Gus said excitedly, pumping his arms in the air. Luz could have sworn she could see his eyes sparkling from excitement.
"What the midget said." Edric teased.
"Edric!" Amity yelled at her brother. "I thought we agreed you wouldn't insult or tease my friends."
"We did. You just didn't say anything about stating facts. But sorry if that offended you….Gus was it?"
"Yes. And thank you. Honestly that was nothing compared to what I used to be called." Gus grinned. Plus you're Amity's brother so I consider us friends."
"Wow. And I thought that Luz was too trustworthy." Emira teased.
Lus meanwhile was getting the movie ready putting the VHS tape in the player. 'I hope this is at the beginning of the movie. Rewinding these things gets annoying.' She thought. She then proceeded to turn on the TV and the player and hoped for the best. "Everyone gather on the couch, it's about to start." Luz sat to the side since she has seen the movie many times before coming to the Boiling Isles. You could argue it was her favorite Disney movie. What she wouldn't give to be in a Disney movie or series. Aside from wanting to become a witch being in Disney would probably be her number one goal.
After Luz sat down Amity sat next to her, judging from the look on her face she looked happy, nervous, and….maybe annoyed about sitting next to her. She took a glance to her siblings who were sitting next to her, Emira first then Edric. Gus sat next to Edric followed by Willow. King jumped up to Luz's lap giving Amity the stink eye which went unnoticed by Luz and Amity. When it comes to time with Luz, KIng shares with no one. (Aside from Eda)
The VHS tape finally started playing, everyone sitting in front of the TV watching in anticipation.
'...Circle of Liffffffe!' Luz groaned has her fear became realized. The tape was at the end and now she'll have to rewind the whole thing. It played the very end showing Simba's and Nala's child.
"That was awesome!" Gus said. "But maybe a little short."
"Yeah that seemed weird." Amity agreed.
"It's a VHS tape. I just have to rewind the video. King you go show everyone where the snacks are. I forgot to get them earlier."
"I am not a servant!"
"Okay then go into the kitchen and tell them what snacks you want."
"Now you're talking." King laughed running to the other room. Everyone else but Gus and Amity followed. Luz started to rewind the tape making sure to cover the TV so her friends wouldn't see anything.
"So how does this VHS tape work?" Gus asked. Amity was also curious about it as well.
"Well I don't know enough to explain it fully but basically it's just a box that has a film reel inside it that plays the movie. Hence why it has to be rewound."
"So facinenating." Gus's eyes sparkled in amazement.
"Does sound pretty cool for a human machine." Amity agreed. Just then everyone came back and sat in the spots they were in before now carrying some kind of snack. The VHS clicked singling that the movie was finished rewinding.
"Alright now lets get the movie started."
(An Hour and a half later)
The movie ended once again with almost all of the viewers crying or cheering at the end of the movie. The only one who wasn't was Amity who enjoyed it but was thinking about the logical side of the story. Like why did the Scar not kill Simba instead of telling him to run away? are there really talking animals on Earth? And way was there so much singing?
"You okay Amity?"
"Uh..oh yeah I'm fine Luz. I'm just overthinking the movie."
"But it was so beautiful!" Edric cried. He found the movie very emotional. As did Gus and King. Willow thought that the movie was great, she really liked the plant life showed throught the movie. Emira thought it was good but that the boys were going a little overboard on the tears.
"I'm glad you all liked it. Well we finished the movie and Eda isn't home yet so what should we do?
"I have an idea!" King yelled thinking of this ever since he saw a certain scene in the movie. We need a tower of boxes, some stuffed animals, and a drink cuz those snacks made me thirsty,
"Uh, should we be worried?" Willow asked.
Luz thought for a moment and then realized what King wants to do. "King, are you wanting to reenact that scene?" She asked with a smirk.
"Of course. I'll be the one to overthrow the King, thus becoming the new King, Luz you are Simba, Gus is the first King, and Amity and her sibling can be my servent the hyenas. Oh and Willow can record it on Luz's phone." Clearly King had put a lot of thought into this. Everyone agreed to help out but not everyone was happy with roles King gave them. The main one being Amity.
The after mentioned girl then whispered something in Luz's ear making her grin ear from ear. The two passed the word around to everyone but King and in about twenty minutes the box fort and pile of stuffed animals were ready.
"Excellent! Now to overthrow the King!" King yelled running up to the top of the waited for Gus to come up but turned around to see Amity came up instead. "What are you doing up here? You're supposed to be down with the other hyenas."
"Oh there's been a few changes." The green haired girl replied with a smirk.
"What changes?"
(About twenty seconds later)
"I did not agree to this!" King yelled dangling from the tower. Amity was now playing the role of Scar, King now plays Mufasa, and Gus took the place of Amity for the third hyena. Luz actually like being Simba and Willow decided to stay as the recorder.
"Come on King just play along." Luz replied as she put on her hoodie. "Willow is about to record."
"Fine! But only because my tiny arms are getting tired."
Hello this is the Author again. So I see we are back to where this story started. Well now that you know how events led to this let's see how this ends.
"...I will have my revenge!" King yelled has he fell into his stuffed animals. He almost blended in with them and was hard to tell him apart.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Luz yelled maybe a little too dramatically and long. She jumped down to the ground and ran to King who was playing dead….or supposed to be.
"Luz, Luz are you there?" He asked as if he can't see.
"King you suppose to be dead." Luz said briefly breaking character.
"I wanted to add my own vision to it!"
"Your just mad that you didn't get to be Scar. Now play dead."
"I am not a dog." He replied but compiled anyways. With that out of the way they started again. Luz tried to make it seem like she was crying but the character break through her off.
"King. You can't be gone. Get up. Please get up." She was almost convincing for some in the room. Amity then walked up behind Luz with her siblings and Gus behind her. Gus used his magic and gave the illusion that they all had lion/hyena ears respectively. They still pointed out a little like a normal cats ear but still looked very real.
"Look what you have done Luz." Amity said with a dark tone and straight face. Luz turned around and took a second to register that Amity somehow had cat ears. 'Must be Gus's doing.' She thought. She quickly shook her head and continued.
"It was an acident Amity. I swear I don't know what happened. He was trying to save me!"
"And because of that he is dead. What would Eda think."
"W-what should I do?"
"Run away Luz. Run away and never come back."
Luz got up and ran into the kitchen. Amity told the other three to chase her and they followed Luz into the kitchen as well. Willow, who found the lion ears funny, was still recording when she busted out laughing not able to hold it in any longer.
"What's so funny?" Amity asked facing the camera.
"Uh. Oh nothing just the video." Willow lied trying to stop a giggle.
The others walked back into the living room and King got back up.
"That was amazing everyone. Nice touch with the ears Gus."
"Thanks. I think Amity's were the best."
"What is he talking about?" Amity asked.
"Oh Gus gave you lion ears like he did to himself and the twins."
"What!" Amity exclaimed as King handed her a mirror. "Gus why didn't you tell me?" Amity asked blushing.
"Oh come on sis you look nice with cat ears." Emira teased.
"Yeas maybe you should show that mysteries crush of yours." Edric said you happened to be standing next to Luz.
"I'll kill both of you and hid the bodies." Amity replied while still looking redder than a tomato. She was about to leap at them when suddenly a new voice came from the door.
"What is the ever loving Hexside is going on in here?!" A woman's voice yelled. Every one turned to see the Owl Lady at the door looking very tired and covered in grass and twigs.
"Oh. Eda your home." Luz gave a fake grin as she walked up to her mentor. "I just wanted to show my friends a movie and then we-"
"Save it for later. I am too tired and nothing seems to be broken or missing so I'll let this pass. But only this once. Now if any one needs me I'll be upstairs sleeping."
Everyone watched as the older which went to her room and everyone let out a sigh of relief.
"So. Anyone else up for another movie?" Luz asked.

I hope you guys all like this. Owl House has quickly become one of my favorite shows and when I got this idea I just had to do it. This was supposed to be out on Christmas day but I got sidetracked. But better late than never. If you haven't seen my stories before feel free to look at some of my other stories.
Oh and for anyone wandering how I know about VHS players and tapes I used to have a VHS player and would watch the Lion King on it all the time. And I'm not even twenty years old. (I'm nineteen.) Until next time.
