Chapter 2: Disguised Princess
It's the first day of school for May. She will be the new student at Petalburg High School. She has on her blonde wig and different outfit. She is ready to go to school and she has her parents permission to go into town and meet the citizens, of course being guarded by royal guards.
"Remember Princess, your name is Daisy. And remember to not mention anything about your true identity." Dahlia reminded.
"Don't worry. I know." May said.
"Okay. The King and Queen is giving you the privilege of attending an actual school after all these years of being stuck in the castle, so go make the most of it." Dahlia said.
"I will. See you later." May said and then she left the castle. The school isn't that far, so May just walks there, making sure the coast is clear before leaving the castle walls.
"Hey, remember that girl from the other day?" Drew asked.
"The one in the cloak?" Ash asked.
"Yeah." Drew answered.
"What about her?" Gary asked. He smirked. "Are you finally falling for someone?"
"No. It's just...I would've thought that she'd fall for me." Drew said. "But she seemed...different from my crazy fangirls."
"You're right…" Dawn said. "She also didn't have time to stay and chat."
At that moment, tons of gasps from the front of the school were heard.
"What's going on?" Misty questioned.
Gary gasped. "Look." He pointed. Everyone turned to where Gary pointed. The entrance to the school grounds.
Who they saw walk onto school grounds was May. But they didn't know it was May. Who they saw was Daisy. Blonde hair flowing in the slight breezes. Blue eyes sparkling. Everyone at the front of the school was enraptured by how beautiful this girl looked. It's like a movie moment when she is walking in slow motion, with her hair flowing. Now, cue the music.
(This is "Adore You" by Harry Styles.)
Walk in your rainbow paradise. May glances at the stares that she's getting. Strawberry lipstick state of mind. She continues walking towards the school while feeling everyone's eyes on her. I get so lost inside your eyes. Would you believe it? ("Why is everyone staring at me like that?") May thought. You don't have to say you love me. You don't have to say nothing. You don't have to say you're mine. May walks closer to the gang shyly and glances over at everyone.
("This feels really weird. Do they already know who I am?") May thought. As she got closer to the school, she tripped over her own feet, not being used to wearing sneakers. Again like before, someone caught her before she hit the ground.
Like lightning, Drew caught her because she was close enough to the gang. Everyone gasped as they saw Drew holding her. May stood up with the help from Drew. She looked up at him.
("It's him.") May thought.
Drew noticed her blue eyes. "Have I...met you somewhere before?" He asked.
"Umm...I don't believe so." May answered.
"Well, it's nice to meet you. I'm Drew." Drew said. "And these are my friends." He said as he moved to the side, so the gang could walk up to them.
"Hi, I'm Dawn."
"I'm Misty."
"I'm Ash."
"Paul."
"And my name is Gary."
"Hi…" May said sheepishly. "My name is Daisy."
"Yay! A new friend!" Dawn exclaimed.
"And you must be a new student too. Want us to show you around?" Drew asked.
"Thanks. I'd love that." May/Daisy said. "But first...do you guys know why everyone is staring at me?" She whispered only for the gang to hear.
"Oh that?" Drew asked.
"You just might be the prettiest girl in the school. That's why." Gary said.
"P-prettiest?" May blushed slightly.
"Yep! And I'm pretty sure all of the boys are in love with you and all of the girls are jealous." Dawn said.
"Umm…" May hummed. "Why exactly is that?"
"Because you're a blond!" Dawn exclaimed.
"Not only that, but you also have blue eyes." Gary added.
"And guys love girls with blonde hair and blue eyes." Misty said.
"Oh…" May said.
"Just stick with us and we'll make sure you aren't bothered by them, okay?" Dawn said happily.
May smiled and nodded. "Okay."
"Now follow us in the school and you can get your schedule." Gary said.
"Well Daisy, welcome to Petalburg High." Principal Oak said as he handed May/Daisy her schedule.
"Thank you!" May/Daisy said.
The gang walked out of the office and started walking down the halls, showing May to her classes and other important rooms.
"And here we have the cafeteria." Dawn said.
"Wow...cool." May said.
"You can sit with us during lunch too." Misty added.
"Thanks." May/Daisy thanked. The bell rang.
"That's the school bell, better get going to first period." Gary said.
"Since you share Contest Class with me and Dawn, you can walk with us." Drew said.
"Okay." May said. The gang went their ways to first period.
In first period Contest Class, everyone stares at May as she walks in. May smiles nervously.
"Stay here. The teacher has to assign you a seat." Drew whispered to May. Drew and Dawn go to their seats.
"Okay, attention class, it seems we have a new student with us today." The teacher, Wallace, said. Everyone in the class has already been staring at May.
"Please introduce yourself." Wallace said.
"Umm...hi, my name is Daisy." May/Daisy said.
"She has the voice of an angel." A random boy said.
"She looks like an angel as well." Another boy said.
"Hmph! I don't think she's all that good." A girl said.
The entire class started arguing with each other. The girls don't like how May got the attention of every boy and the boys don't like how the girls say that she's not amazing.
"Okay, settle down class." Wallace said. The arguing continued. Wallace turned to May. "Daisy, feel free to sit down in an empty seat. Let me know what you decide."
May looked at the class and saw Dawn waving at her. Dawn pointed to the seat that's right in front of her.
May smiled. "I'll take the seat that's over there with Dawn and Drew."
"You already know one another? That's great! Go ahead Daisy." Wallace said. The class stopped arguing and it got really quiet as they just watched her go to the seat in front of Dawn.
"She knows Drew?" A girl whispered.
"Is Drew going to fall in love with her too?" Another girl whispered.
Drew is in the seat next to Dawn. He rolls his eyes because he heard his fans. "Hey Daisy, I'm sure that people will stop staring at you all the time in a few weeks." He whispered.
"Okay." She whispered back. "It makes me really nervous to say anything."
"You'll get used to it." Drew said.
(The rest of May's schedule will be in future chapters.)
"Follow me this way Daisy." Dawn said as she and May walk through the cafeteria. "Our friends are over here."
"Okay." May said.
"Hey, want to sit with us over here?" A random boy asked once he walked up to May/Daisy.
"Umm…" Was all May said.
"No, sit with us over here." Another boy said.
"I…" May responded.
"Please come sit over here." Another boy said.
"Hey. Back away." Dawn said, eyes furrowed. "Let's go Daisy." They walk past the boys and sit down with the rest of the gang.
"We just saw what happened." Gary said. "You're really popular Daisy, and it's only your first day here!"
May/Daisy laughs nervously. "I know. I never knew that boys like blonde hair, blue-eyed girls so much."
"Yeah, there's just something about them that we just love." Gary said, staring into May's eyes from across the table, lovingly.
"O...kay…" May said, looking away from Gary's stare.
"I think you're freaking her out Gary." Paul said.
"Right. Sorry." Gary apologized.
"It's okay." May/Daisy said.
"So how's your first day?" Drew asked.
"It's great!" May said happily. "The students and teachers are all so nice!"
"That's Petalburg City." Ash said. "Probably known as the safest city in all of Hoenn."
"I think it's because it's home to the royal family." Misty added.
"Yeah. Which means it's the city with the most royal guards." Gary said.
May didn't want to say anything that might give her away. "Speaking of the royals and stuff," Dawn started. "It's been a long time since they've actually come out of the castle, huh?"
"Yeah, and no one's heard anything about why." Misty said.
"What I would give to see the Princess." Gary said.
"You keep on dreaming Gary." Ash said.
"Yeah. Isn't it like...tradition that the Princess has to marry a Prince?" Drew asked.
("A Prince…") May thought, her hands balling into fists on her lap.
"Yeah, but if she can just leave the castle and meet me, she's bound to fall for me, right?" Gary said.
Drew chuckled. "Not likely."
"Hey Daisy," Dawn said. May perked her head up. "Do you have anything to say about the royals?"
"Oh. Umm...not really." May said. "I just...wish I could meet them."
"Us too." Gary said. "Just imagine if I was a Prince, and then the Princess will choose me over every other Prince."
"Keep on dreaming." Misty said.
May giggled quietly to herself. ("I never realized that Gary has a crush on the Princess.")
"Doyou all like the Princess like that?" May/Daisy asked directed towards the boys.
"You know Gary does. I say she's really pretty, so I guess I like her too." Ash said.
"I do too. I mean, who doesn't?" Paul answered.
"And you Drew?" May/Daisy asked.
Drew looked May right in the eyes and said, "I'm not saying if I like her or not."
"Why not?" May/Daisy questioned.
"Because I don't even know. I mean, she hasn't shown her face in the city in years." Drew answered. "How do we know if she even cares for her subjects anymore?"
May looked shocked and a little sad at his answer.
"That's true." Dawn agreed.
"But I'm sure she cares about everyone. She must have a good reason for not showing her face all those years." Misty said.
("She does…") May thought.
