Chapter 6: Mystery Girl
"Guys, I heard a girl singing in the choir room yesterday morning before school." Drew said.
The guys are in a class right now and the girls are in their different classes. Drew just brought up the beautiful voice he heard yesterday morning to Ash, Gary, and Paul.
"And?" Gary questioned.
"And she had the most beautiful voice." Drew continued.
"The most beautiful voice?" Ash asked.
"Are you telling us that you've fallen for this girl?" Gary asked, smirking.
"I don't even know who was singing, because I was surrounded by fans and when they left, I entered the room and she wasn't there." Drew explained.
"So...you imagined it." Paul said.
"No I didn't. I know what I heard and this girl had the voice of an angel." Drew said.
"I like the sound of that." Gary said.
"Anyways…" Drew continued. "I need to find out who that was."
"Why?" Ash asked.
"Because the song she was singing...spoke to me." Drew said.
"The song spoke?" Ash questioned.
Paul hit Ash on the top of his head. "He means that the lyrics were meaningful and could relate to him."
"Ohh…" Ash said, rubbing the top of his head. "You didn't have to hit me."
Paul rolled his eyes. "You baby." He mumbled.
"So the song spoke to you." Gary said. Drew nodded.
"I don't know what it is, but for some reason...this girl felt...trapped." Drew said.
"In what?" Ash asked.
"In...I don't know. She just is trapped." Drew said.
"Like you with your fans?" Gary asked.
"Exactly." Drew answered. "I felt a connection with that song and I fell in love with her voice."
"Well at least you found something to love." Gary said. Drew glared at him.
"Okay, stop glaring at me! What do you want us to do?" Gary asked.
Drew hesitated for a moment before answering, "I need your help to find this mystery girl."
"All of us?" Ash questioned. Drew nodded.
"You really like this girl, huh?" Gary asked.
Drew hesitated for a moment before slowly nodding.
"Well then…" Gary started. "We can't just say no to a friend about love, now can we?"
"I guess not." Ash said.
"Fine." Paul said.
"Thanks." Drew thanked.
"Now how should we look for her exactly?" Gary asked.
They all looked at each other.
"I guess...spread the word that I'm looking for a female mystery singer with a beautiful voice and whenever they want to, they can sing a song to me." Drew said.
"But what if there's another girl with a similar voice, but it's not her." Ash asked.
"This one is special. I'll know the voice when I hear it." Drew said.
"Okay then. Let's do this. Be warned Drew, tons and I mean tons of girls will be singing for you in the next few days." Gary said.
"Don't worry. I'm used to being surrounded by girls." Drew said.
"Hey Daisy, did you hear?" Dawn asked. May and Dawn are in choir before the teacher starts the class.
"Hear what?" May/Daisy asked.
"Drew is looking for a girl with a beautiful voice."
"A girl?" May/Daisy questioned. "I'm pretty sure there are many girls with amazing voices."
"I know, right?" Dawn said. "But every girl who's heard about it is already preparing a song to sing for him. What I heard is that if you go to Drew and sing a song then he'll tell you if you're the mystery girl or not."
"It'd make sense that the girls are going crazy over this."
"Yeah, and even people that aren't in choir."
"I wonder who it is." May/Daisy said.
"Are you going to prepare a song for Drew?" Dawn asked.
"No. I don't really like singing in front of people. I get a little nervous. Plus, he's never heard me sing." May/Daisy said.
"But you're in choir, you'll be singing for people all the time."
"Yeah, but it's with a large group of people. I just get scared to do solo." May/Daisy said.
"Ohh...that makes sense."
"Are you going to see if you're the mystery girl?" May/Daisy asked.
"No. I'm not a crazy fan girl of Drew's like everyone else except Misty and I think you." Dawn answered. May nodded.
"Yeah, I'm not a fan that will chase him everywhere." May said, giggling.
Dawn giggled as well. "Yeah, and he always has to run. He's like the celebrity of this school."
"But, why does he have so many fangirls?" May/Daisy asked.
"Oh. It's because he's the cutest boy in the school. You know...green hair...emerald green eyes...and roses. He definitely gets the girls' attention when he holds the most romantic flower in his hand. They all dream of receiving a rose from Drew. Which you can see is why they're all going crazy for Drew to recognize their singing voice."
While Dawn was blabbering on and on about Drew and why he has fans, she didn't realize that May started blushing when she described him. She now notices May with a tomato red face.
"Ooh…" Dawn said. "Is someone in love…?"
May's blush got deeper if that's even possible. "N-no. I-I'm not...I mean he's...and his fans…"
"Mm hmm…" Dawn hummed. "You might not be a crazy fangirl, but you sure seem to like him."
"No I don't!" May yelled.
"Come on Daisy, you can tell me. We're friends."
"I...well I…" May/Daisy said.
"His green hair...emerald eyes...romantic charm…" Dawn said dreamily.
"Okay fine!" May/Daisy said. "I admit that I may have feelings for him."
Dawn shrieked. "You two would make such a cute couple!"
"Please don't tell him." May/Daisy said.
"I won't." Dawn said. "I'll let you do the talking."
"But...I'm not really good with this kind of thing."
"Then I'll help you!"
"Thanks Dawn, but I think I'd want to first find out if my feelings for him are true."
"Okay Daisy. Who knows? Maybe you're the mystery girl." Dawn said.
May shook her head. "I'm pretty sure he hasn't heard me sing before."
It's after school with Drew exiting the school. Three random girls run up to him and start singing.
(This song is "Señorita" by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello.)
Drew freezes at the front doors to the school. "Locked in the hotel. There's just some things that never change." The girl named Kaylee sang. She was extremely off tune though. Everyone that's around the entrance to school looked at the girls and Drew.
"You say we're just friends. But friends don't know the way you taste la la la." The girl named Hazel sang as she hung her arm over Drew's shoulder. Drew took her arm off of him and he started walking past the three girls.
The three girls ran in front of Drew and continued singing while walking backwards. All eyes are on them. "Cause you know it's been a long time coming don't you let me fall oh." The girl named Delilah sang.
"I love it when you call me señorita." They sang in unison. "I wish I could pretend I didn't need ya. But every touch is ooh la la la." Hazel tried to hold Drew's hand, but Drew stepped to the side and Hazel missed his hand. Drew just continued walking. "It's true la la la. Ooh, I should be running. Ooh, you keep me coming for ya."
They finished singing their terrible cover of "Señorita" and Drew stopped walking. They stopped in front of him.
"Well Drew, what'd you think? Beautiful voices, right?" Kaylee asked.
Drew thought about what to say. He is not one to be completely mean to anybody. He knew that they sounded completely opposite from who he was looking for, but...how should he say that?
"Well…" Drew started. "None of you girls are the mystery girl." He said simply. He then passed them again and continued walking to where the gang was. They did not see what happened with Drew and the girls.
"We're...not?" Hazel questioned.
"Maybe we can try again another time." Delilah said.
Drew sat down with the gang on the soft grass. He sighed. "You guys would not believe what I just went through right now."
"I think we can by looking at your face." Gary said, chuckling a little. Drew glared at him and he got silent.
"Is this about your mystery girl?" Dawn asked.
"How did you know about that?" Drew asked.
"We'll just say...word really got around." Paul said.
"So are you girls going to sing for me too?" Drew smirked.
Misty, Dawn, and Daisy shook their heads.
"There's no way you've heard me sing before." Misty said.
"Me neither." Dawn said.
"And me neither." May/Daisy said.
"So why should we bother?" Misty said as she shrugged her shoulders.
"Fair point." Drew said.
"What's your mystery singer like anyways?" Dawn asked.
Drew exhaled. "She has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard. And she hits every note perfectly." He said dreamily.
"So you're in love with her?" Misty asked.
Drew blushed a little. "Maybe."
May looked down. ("There's no way I have a chance with him now…") May thought. ("And even if we feel the same for each other, I'm not allowed to date commoners.")
"You still should've been there to see three girls singing to me and really trying to kiss me." Drew said. May looked back up.
"They tried to kiss you?!" Dawn yelled. Drew nodded.
"And they were completely out of tune." Drew added.
"Did they manage to kiss you?" May/Daisy asked.
Drew looked into Daisy's sapphire blue eyes and smiled. He shook his head. "Nope. I'm good at avoiding fans no matter what they try on me."
May breathed a mental sigh of relief. She doesn't know why she would mind if someone were to kiss Drew. Maybe it's because...this is the first person who she's ever had feelings for.
"There's no way I'd let my first kiss be with a fan." Drew said.
("First?") May thought.
"Well, hopefully you'll find her soon." Gary said. "Because when you have her then I can have the rest of the girls in school."
Drew rolled his eyes. "Sure…" He said sarcastically.
