Chapter 11: Giving Advice

It's the month of Homecoming and preparations are already under way. Student Council decorates during classes. They've really been making the school a starry night with stars on the ceiling, walls, and everywhere you look.

Next week is Homecoming Week and boys are asking girls to Homecoming. May is currently walking to lunch with Dawn.

"Wow, the boys here can get pretty romantic, huh?" May/Daisy asked.

"Yeah, they have to be or else the girls will say no. Every girl loves a boy who's romantic." Dawn said.

They pass by a boy who's holding up a sign that says "Be my date for Homecoming?" and he's holding flowers to a girl.

"Yeah...romantic boys are...something." May said.

They enter the cafeteria and they automatically get surrounded by boys. They are all holding signs, asking Daisy to be their date for Homecoming.

"Daisy, would you like to be my date for Homecoming?"

"Please say yes to being my date Daisy."

"No. Please be my date."

They all hold out flowers to her.

"Umm…" Was all May could say as she looked at the flowers.

Dawn pushed the flowers back. "Can't you guys see that Daisy can't decide which one to choose? You'll all have to wait on a decision."

"But Daisy, I know you'll choose me."

"No, she's going with me."

"I called dibs, you guys."

"Everyone, go." Dawn said. The boys left Daisy a picture of them with their names on them (How convenient).

"Wow." May breathed. She looked at the three pictures.

"I guess that's so you could decide who to choose." Dawn said.

"But...I don't even know these people." May said.

"Then it looks like you've decided. You're saying no to all of them."

"I guess so…" May said as they walked to the table with the rest of the gang.

"There you guys are. What took you so long to get here?" Misty asked.

"Daisy fans." Dawn answered.

Everyone saw the pictures in May's hands.

"Ohhhh…" Gary said.

Drew saw three pictures of boys and he did not feel happy. Did she say yes to one of them? Does she already have a date? Is she still available?

"So, did you pick one?" Ash asked.

May shook her head. "I'm going to deny them because I don't even know them. If I were to have a date to Homecoming, I'd want it to be with someone I know."

("Someone she knows…") Drew thought.

"You mean...like me?" Gary asked as he took May's hand.

May took her hand out of Gary's. "Umm...I don't know. I mean...this will be my first Homecoming, so maybe I should just spend it with friends and no date."

"If you want to do that, then fine by us!" Misty said. "I don't have a date either."

"Me neither." Dawn said.

("Hmm...she doesn't...want a date?") Drew thought sadly.

"Okay class, Homecoming Week is one week away." Teacher Lisa said. "We have to perfect the play by next week. From now until the play, rehearse and imagine the theater completely full of people. Now, let's go over the part where Aladdin is making his first wish in the desert. Drew, Jonathan, on stage."

Jonathan is the person who is acting as the genie.

"Wish me luck." Drew said, standing up.

"I'm sure that you don't need luck though." May said.

Drew looked at her and smiled. He flicked his hair. "You're right. I don't, but I'll be sure to wish you some luck."

May's eyebrows furrowed. "Oh really? What happened to the extremely nice Drew from when we auditioned?"

"He's still here. He's just different now." Drew said. He started walking to the stairs. He glanced at May, smirked, and walked up the stairs.

"Hmm...why did he say that I'll need luck?" May said quietly to herself.

Everyone in the theater watched Drew and Jonathan act out their funny scene of Aladdin and the Genie. It only took like 15 minutes.

"Okay boys, back to your seats." Lisa said.

"Hey Daisy." A random boy said once he sat in the seat next to May. May's in the last seat of the row and the fanboy sat in Drew's seat.

"Umm...hello…" May greeted unsurely.

"Here, for you." The boy said as he held out a rose to May. "I wanted to ask you if you'd want to go to Homecoming with me?"

"I umm…" May said.

Drew saw the boy in his seat once he got down the stairs and he saw the boy holding a rose to May.

"Hey." Drew said once he got to May and the boy. The fan pulled back the rose and looked at Drew. "Can't you see you're making her uncomfortable?"

"Well, I was just asking her a question." The boy said and turned back to May. "So will you?"

"Umm...I'm sorry, but...the answer is no." May said. "I'm not going to Homecoming with a date this year."

"Okay then." The boy stood up. "I'll see you around Daisy." With that said, he looked at Drew and then he walked back to his seat.

Drew sat down without saying anything.

"The scene was perfect." May said.

"Mm hm." Drew said without looking at May.

"Hey, is everything okay?" May asked worriedly.

Drew looked at May. He stared into her eyes for a moment before looking away. "Yeah. Why do you ask?"

"Well...you just seem...upset about something." May said. "Want to talk about it?"

"No." Drew answered. "Everything's fine."

"Well, okay then." May said. "You can always talk to me about things that are troubling you Drew. I'm your friend."

Drew looked at May again. He smiled. "Okay. I'll tell you."

May sat up straight, getting ready to listen to what Drew has to say.

"The thing is…" Drew started. "It's about Homecoming…"

"I'm listening." May said.

"Well, there's this girl that I want to ask to the dance…" Drew said. May's expression turned to a sad one. "I know it's weird for me to be nervous about...girls. But I don't know how to ask her and I have a feeling that she'll say no."

May gave a fake smile. "A girl? Saying no to Drew?"

"I know that's crazy talk, but this girl...doesn't want a date to Homecoming and...I want to ask her to be mine." Drew said.

"I see…" May said, the fake smile dropping. "Well, do you know the reason that she doesn't want a date?"

"This will be her first Homecoming and she wants to spend it with friends instead of dates." Drew answered.

("This girl is in the same boat as me…") May thought.

"Do you know how I should ask her?" Drew asked.

May thought for a bit. Drew wants to ask someone to be his date for Homecoming. May starts feeling slightly jealous. She hoped that Drew might ask her, especially after they almost kissed the other day.

"Daisy?" Drew said.

May snapped out of her thoughts. "Oh. Right. How to ask her…"

"Let me ask you this. If you wanted a certain person to ask you, what would make you say yes to them?"

"Me? Umm…" May said. "I don't really know. I mean...I haven't had much experience with love. But I know that I'd like someone who's romantic…someone who could just…steal my heart. He'll be kind...caring...and he'll have an amazing personality." May said dreamily.

"So, even though you don't want a date to Homecoming, you'd still say yes if it was...the right guy?" Drew asked.

"Most likely." May answered. "And besides, I also said that if I were to have a date for the Homecoming Dance, I'd want it to be someone I know." She said shyly.

("That's right...she said that…") Drew thought.

"So what's she like? Is she your mystery girl?" May asked.

"I don't know if she's my mystery girl." Drew answered. "But she's really beautiful...and she's not a crazy fangirl of mine...and when I look into her eyes...they just...sparkle their blue color, and…" Drew said dreamily.

May gave a small smile, but inside, she's jealous and sad. "She sounds like a perfect match for you."

"She is." Drew said, staring into May's eyes.

He looked away. "I mean, I hope she is. I think I'll ask her tomorrow after school. Thanks for your help."

"No problem." May said.

It's now the next day after school and May goes to her locker. Drew leaves her and he goes to his. Once May opened her locker, a folded paper fell out of it. May bent down and picked it up. She stood up straight, opened the note, and read it.

Dear Daisy,

I have something to tell you. Can you meet me at Bellossom Fields right now for a little surprise?

From,

? ? ?

("A surprise?") May thought.

"What's that?"

May jumped a little at Drew's voice coming from behind her. She put the note in her pocket and started putting things from her backpack into her locker.

"What's what?" May asked.

"The paper." Drew answered.

"Oh. Umm…it's from an unknown person. I have to meet him somewhere right now."

"Where's that?" Drew asked.

May closed her locker and faced Drew. "Why does it matter to you?"

"I just want to know if another fan is going to try to ask you to be their date." Drew answered.

"Well, it's at Bellossom Fields." May said and then she walked past Drew. Drew followed her outside.

"So are you going?" Drew asked.

"Again, why does it matter to you?" May asked.

"What if the person who left the note is that perfect guy for you?"

"That's...highly unlikely." May said. "There aren't that many guys who can completely steal my heart."

"Well, I have a feeling that this guy will be one of them."

May stopped walking. She faced Drew. "Are you trying to set me up with someone?"

"What? No. No, of course not." Drew said. "Just...go to Bellossom Fields, okay? It's not a set up." With that said, Drew walked away from May/Daisy.

"Hmm…"

"Bellossom Fields…" May said as she stepped foot into the beautiful field of flowers. She breathed in the smell of nature.

She looked around for someone who could possibly be waiting for her, but no one else was there. There's just grass and bug Pokémon around.

"Did I keep you waiting long?"

May turned around. Her eyes widened. "Drew."

"That's me." Drew said. He's wearing his guitar with the strap around his neck. His hands are in position, ready to play it.

"Y-you're the one who left the note?" May asked.

"Yes I am." Drew answered.

"W-why didn't you tell me earlier at school?"

"The note said it was a surprise, right?" Drew asked. "And besides, I had to tell you in the perfect place."

"Tell me what?"
