Chapter 4
Detention was boring. That's what Poof had determined after waiting for over an hour. Since he was given detention after his 'fight'. No one stayed after even though they were told too. Looking over at the clock, Poof reached into a gray backpack and pulled out a pill bottle. Flipping open the lid, grabbed two tablets and swallowed them dry. Which helped ease the burning sensation in his chest. One of the few organs that fairies had was a heart, and it wasn't exactly healthy. Dropping the bottle back into the bag, he zipped it shut. Turning back to the textbook? Manual? Novel? He wasn't quite sure what the right word for it was. It was far more interesting than he could've ever imagined and didn't involve annoying children poking him. "Ah Poof doing some reading I see," Poof looked up to see Crocker standing there. "Well, how are you doing? Sorry the teacher meeting ran longer than expected."
"It's no problem," Poof said, trying to hide his irritation. "Since we're alone. I want to ask some questions." He thought for a moment, "I mean I want to ask you a couple of questions. Some of them are personal." This caught Crocker's attention; he dropped the back and moved over towards Poof. Making sure not to touch him, as he knew that Poof disliked physical contact. "And umh I'm a little confused about my grammar. This book you handed me. Is it a textbook? Novel? Manuel? I'm not quite sure what the differences are."
"Ah makes sense," Crocker said waving it away. "I'm assuming that English isn't your native language. The answer you're looking for is a textbook, which is a tool used by academic institutions. Such as Dimmesdale elementary school, to help aid students such as you. They are all used over the world," Crocker explained. "Well that's not important, so what did you want to ask me?" Poof though over his next words trying to figure out how to explain it to him. Crocker sat down on the opposite side of him since it was only the two of them.
"...Earlier today in class," Poof began. "You mentioned something about Turner having godparents. Implying? Is that the word? Sorry, sir…anyway. Implying that you have some knowledge about fairies, but the kids in the class started laughing. I want to know why. Why did Timmy deny having them? I know fairies exist, you know they exist. So why doesn't he? I'm assuming he was lying, but he seemed adamant about it. What are godparents? And er...I want..to know. I want you to tell me everything you know about fairies?" Throughout the entire spheal he was struggling to find the right way to speak it. Fairies have a way to communicate in almost any language. Crocker was rather patient, and much more understanding. Than most people were willing to accommodate for.
"Very well then Poof," Crocker said smiling. "Follow me then to the Crocker Cave-"
"Don't touch me!" Poof snapped and Crocker stopped reaching out to touch Poof on the shoulders.
"Right I forgot that was a thing with you," Crocker replied. Poof muttered something under his breath. Picking up the textbook, he dropped it into his backpack, put it over his shoulders. Hesitantly, he followed the crazed math teacher through the hallway. Which was moderately filled with kids, but was slowly dwindling with students leaving for the day. After five minutes they came up towards a locker which had Crocker's names on it. He put in the combination, opened the door. "Step inside if you'd please." Following the man's instruction he stepped inside careful to avoid any physical contact.
Crocker touched a red button, and the floor beneath Poof's feat opened up. He slid down on a slide and landed on a pink mattress. His eyes sparkled underneath the school was a large rather room. Filled with electronics, a large screen, and all kinds of gadgets he couldn't name. It had a yellow tint, Poof looked up. Stepping to the side, Crocker landed on the floor. "Ah I've got to get a comfier mattress. Anyhoo welcome to the Crocker cave!"
"Is this legal?" Poof asked the man with an eyebrow. "And how exactly does this help you with your education? Learning? You know what I mean. Umh no offense sir, just curious."
"No problem," Crocker said. He moved over to a screen, and Poof followed him. "Well then. I can't believe this day has finally come. A young progiene to one day take over the Crocker empire, but that's not for now." He pulled out a brown bag, and started to breathe heavily. Poof just kept his mouth shut. After he finally calmed down, a smile crossed his face. "So then what do you want to know about fairies?" Crocker asked as he sat down in the seat.
"Everything. Start from the beginning, with you. I want to know what...knowledge you have. And you get the idea," Poof said awkwardly. With that Crocker nodded his head, swiveled the chair.
"Very well then," Crocker said pointing to the screen. "Pay attention to the screen. You see fairies...are a magical race of beings…"
They spent an hour going over the entire collection of knowledge. Which wasn't much, but it was far greater than he knew. Fairies had changed in the billions of years since he was born, but this was before it. Or at least early in his youth, he wasn't quite sure. With that Crocker released him from his detention even if he technically had another hour to go. An hour of free-time that Poof wasn't going to complain about. Walking down the school hallway most of the kids had finally emptied. There were a few kids left, but not many of them. "Dude what is Poof still doing with here? You'd think he knows to leave school before Crocker returns from his boring meetings." Poof turned his attention to see Timmy's two best-friends talking.
"Shouldn't you two have left by now?" Poof asked, "And where is Timmy Turner? I have some questions to ask him." Ignoring their pesky questions, both of them looked at him. He knew there was some distrust from him.
"Timmy?" Aj asked, "He left an hour ago. Since he has to catch the school bus to get home. If you're asking, dude you should speak up!"
"Unfortunately he's not here," A male's voice replied. "But I can help you find him." Before Poof could react to him, Aj, and Chester were kidnapped by a gray burlap sack.
