"A brain tumor?" Alex asked barley audible while her husband just nodded and looked at the doctor.

"Okay, is it dangerous? Will he die?" Alex continued her questions. Ryan took her hand in his and squeezed it and she looked down at him. His face so calm. The calmness she wished she had right at that moment.

The doctor looked at the two of them "the tumor seems benign but we'll need to monitor it. If it grows surgery will be the best option. Right now we don't know anything but we'll conduct more tests in the morning to establish the size, and the effects the tumor might have on you , Mr Booth."

With those words the doctor left the room leaving Alex and Ryan on their own.

"Come here." Ryan said looking at his wife's distressed face. He patted the side of the bed and moved up making space for Alex to sit down. "I'm not gonna go down without a fight. Whatever happens I'm not gonna stop fighting." He said in all honesty looking at Alex. She didn't say anything she just nodded her head and laid down next to him. Burying her face in his side while he stroked her hair.

"Should I call your mom?" Alex asked and Ryan made a low sound indicating that he didn't want her to.

"Not yet. Let's just wait until we have more information." Ryan said and Alex nodded into his side.

"I'm scared." She whispered after a long silence between the two of them.

"I am too." Ryan said honestly, tightening the grip he had on his wife as she laid next to him.

After a while Alex realized that she needs to go home. She can't leave Shelby at home with her children the whole night. Ryan assured her that he will be fine, he has an entire hospital looking after him.

"Drive safe please. Text me when you get home." He reminded her as Alex left the room unsure of how she should be feeling.

Alex pulled into the driveway at home, opening the door to reveal Shelby sitting on the couch watching TV. No other sounds from the two children indicating that they were still asleep. One thing Alex was grateful at.

Shelby took one look at her friend and she didn't say anything. She just stood up and opened her arms as Alex came crashing into the open arms of the blonde and started crying. Once Alex calmed down Shelby made the two of them some sweet tea and Alex explained the situation.

"I don't know what to say." Shelby said honestly

"I don't know how to feel." Alex replied keeping the steaming mug of tea between her hands enjoying the warmth.

"I'm gonna call Caleb and tell him I'm staying here for the rest of the night" Shelby said not giving Alex a chance to disagree. Alex nodded and mouthed the words thank you to her best friend. As she got up and poured the tea down the drain .

Hey guys, it's been too long. I'm not doing well mentally I am in a really bad space but I'm trying to stay positive and I'll keep updating as often as I can. This is not the best quality of writing but at least it's an update. Hope all of you are still here.
