Chapter 40: Drew's Apology

"Are you sure that you have this all figured out?" Genie asked.

"Yes." Drew answered. "Music is always a good way of showing emotions, so I figure she'll listen to my apology now."

It's the day after May's birthday and Drew thought of how to get May to listen to his apology for why he lied. Let's see if his plan works.

"Okay. Before you go, you should take off your royal attire." The genie pointed out.

"Right." Drew said. He changed his outfit to his normal one. No crown or royal stuff going on. Drew grabbed his guitar. "Wish me luck." Drew said as he got on the magic carpet.

"Good luck, kid!" The genie called as he saw Drew fly down to the front of May's balcony. There's a fountain that May could look at from her room. Drew got off the carpet and sat on the fountain where May would be able to see him from his side.

"Carpet, ready?" Drew asked. The magic carpet moved as if it was nodding. It then flew up to May's balcony and hid beneath it.

"Okay…" Drew said quietly to himself. "Let's do this." He took a deep breath. He started strumming some chords.

(This song is "You're My Favorite Song" from Camp Rock 2.)

Drew was looking down, making sure he got the chords correct. He began singing. "Words don't come easy without a melody. I'm always thinking in terms of do re mi. I should be hiking, swimming, laughing with you." May and Dahlia heard someone playing the guitar. "Instead I'm all out of tune." May and Dahlia walk towards the balcony.

"But what you don't know, you lift me off the ground. You're inspiration, you helped me find myself." May and Dahlia look down at the fountain and see Drew singing and playing the guitar without his royal look. "Just like a baseline in half-time, you hold down the groove. That's why I'm counting on you." May watched as Drew sped up the song and started singing louder with more meaning. She always loved hearing him sing.

"And if I heard you on the radio, I'd never wanna change a single note." Drew sang as the magic carpet flew back down to Drew and circled around him. "It's what I'm trying to say all along." Drew watched as the carpet flew around him. That's what he told the carpet to do when it sees May walk to the balcony and see him. "You're my favorite song." May smiles.

Drew nods to the carpet and stands up, still singing and strumming. "I'm in a session writing tracks. You've got another class to teach." Drew turns his body and he looks up at May. May's eyes stare down into his. "And then rehearsal with a band. You're always one step out of reach. I'm looking for some harmony. With you it comes so naturally. You helped me find the right key."

The carpet lays itself on the ground and Drew steps onto it. "And when I hear you on the radio." Drew sang as the carpet slowly started flying up. "I'd never wanna change a single note. It's what I tried to say all along. You're my favorite song." The carpet stopped moving once Drew was at eye level to May. He was still at his respective distance.

"And when I hear you on the radio." Drew sang again as the carpet slowly moved towards the balcony this time. "I'd never wanna change a single note. It's what I tried to say all along." Dahlia backed up a little to give Drew room to talk to May. "You're my favorite song." The carpet stopped once Drew was right in front of May. They stared into each other's eyes. "You're my favorite song." Drew stopped strumming the guitar and he put it to his side.

"Drew…" May started. "Or should I say Prince Andrew?"

Drew shook his head. "It's only Drew. I lied about the whole Prince thing. You know that." May nodded.

"But...I sang this song to you to...apologize." Drew said.

"Oh Drew. That's sweet." May said.

"And I want you to know that...I may have let my feelings for you take over." Drew said. "And that's why I pretended to be a Prince, so you wouldn't end up being with another person." Drew admitted.

May just listened to his story. Drew continued. "I'm really sorry if I...ruined your birthday yesterday."

May shook her head. "You didn't ruin it."

"I didn't?" Drew asked.

"Of course not." May answered. "Sure, I was mad at you last night, but I was also happy to be flying on a magic carpet ride with you." She smiled. "And my birthday present from my parents is really beautiful as well."

"Well, I don't think it can be more beautiful than you." Drew said.

May blushed. "Speaking of…" May started after she composed herself. "About the whole argument of you not loving me but loving the Princess…"

"I know what you mean by that." Drew said.

"You do?" May asked.

Drew nodded. "You want people to treat you as a normal person without a title like Princess, and that's why you were yelling at me because you thought that I only liked you for your title."

"You got it." May said.

Drew reached out his hand and gently brushed May's cheek, tucking strands of hair behind May's ear. "I would never just like you because you're a Princess. I fell in love with a kind, caring, generous girl." May blushed again. "And title has nothing to do with it. I know that I may not be a Prince, but I do love you...Princess."

May gently touched the hand that's on her cheek, holding it against her cheek. "You're sweet."

"So does this mean that you accept my apology?" Drew asked.

"It absolutely does." May answered. "You sang that song from the bottom of your heart, and I have to forgive you after that."

Drew smiled. "Thanks. I'm glad you liked it."

"Why don't you come inside?" May asked.

Drew removed his hand from her face. "Can I?" He questioned. May nodded.

May backed up and the carpet flew higher to get Drew over the railing. Drew jumped off. "Thanks Carpet." Drew said. The carpet flew around him to say "You're welcome."

May giggled. "I'm curious to know where you found it. Is there actually a "Cave of Wonders" in this world?"

"Oh umm…" Drew said. He didn't answer her question. Instead, he kept thinking of if he should tell May about the golden rose genie as well.

May cocked her head. "What are you thinking about?"

"Listen May...I don't think I can tell you about where I got the carpet from." Drew said.

"You can't?" May asked sadly. "Why not?"

"Because...it's just something I can't tell you...yet." Drew answered.

"But you'll eventually tell me?" May asked.

Drew nodded. May smiled.

"Then I'll wait." May said. "Come on. I want to show you something." She started walking back into her room followed by Drew.

As soon as Drew was in May's room, he looked around. This is his first time in the castle and he's impressed by how it looks.

May picked up her scepter that was on her bed and she held it up in front of Drew. It glowed like when she first got it that they had to look away from it.

"What is that?" Drew asked.

"It's a scepter." May said. The lights dimmed and they looked back at it. "It's my birthday present from my parents. And…I think it's magical."

"You think it's magic?" Drew questioned. May nodded.

"It's called the Scepter Of Love. My parents gave it to me without knowing that it glows like that." May said. "I figure that's a sign for something magical."

Drew nodded. "Makes sense. I wonder what else it can do if it is magical."

"Hmm…" May hummed as she looked at it.

"Hmm...this flower garden has been disturbed." A female voice said. She is currently at the place where Drew found the golden rose. She noticed that there are petals everywhere. Some of the roses are missing petals.

They're missing petals because the genie blew petals everywhere when he was teleporting Drew to Petalburg with his entourage. But this girl didn't know that.

"Someone must've already discovered the golden rose." She said quietly to herself. Her fists clenched. "I need that rose. I think my next stop is…" she looked to the distance at a city. "Petalburg City."
