Chapter 42: The Queen of Mean
"My clothes are soaked." May said. She smiled shyly. "I guess some things are worth getting wet for, huh?"
"I guess." Drew smiled. He stood up to go grab his shirt and jacket. He put them on.
"My parents will not like this one bit…" May said.
Drew went and sat back down on the picnic blanket. "We'll sneak you in through the balcony. Everything will be fine."
"Okay." May said.
"Now, let's finish these strawberries before they go bad." Drew said.
"Okay. We're in." The female voice said once she got over the castle wall. "Beautifly, lead the way."
Beautifly started flying off with her trainer following, staying out of sight. They made it to a section of the castle with many guest rooms. Beautifly flew up to a certain room and pointed inside.
"That's the room?" The girl asked. Beautifly nodded. "Okay. I'm coming up."
The female trainer started climbing up to the balcony that Beautifly was on. She climbed on the brick wall on some uneven bricks. She jumped over the railing of the balcony and peeked around the corner into the room. No one was there.
She cautiously walked into the room with Beautifly following her. Beautifly flew ahead of her to a bag on the desk.
The girl walked over to the bag and opened it. Inside was the golden rose. She gasped and took it out.
"We found it. We finally found it." The girl breathed.
"Doo doo doo…" A voice sang from a different room.
The girl gasped and looked to where the voice came from. "Beautifly, let's go." She whispered. She made a run for the balcony and quickly climbed down the wall with Beautifly flying down.
They went back to the side castle wall and the girl climbed up and over.
The genie walked out from around the corner of a room in Drew's guest room. He's the one who was singing. "Doo doo doo…" He sang again.
"Hmm…I wonder how his date is going…" The genie said to himself. The big golden wristbands that the genie is wearing started to glow. Before he knew it, he was getting pulled by an invisible force.
"Hey, what's going on?" The genie asked. He tried to pull his wrists back, but they kept pulling him forward.
He got pulled into the city. The wristbands finally stopped glowing and the genie hid on a building, looking down at a girl that's in an alleyway. He noticed the golden rose in her hand.
The genie gasped. "What's she doing with the rose?"
"Okay. Let's do this." The girl said. She twirled the rose between her fingers.
The genie disappeared from the roof of the building and he spawned inside the rose, his yellow smoke coming out. He appeared before the girl. The girl smiled evilly.
("Uh oh…") The genie thought.
Drew stood up and walked to the pillar where Roselia and May's guitar are hiding behind. "Thanks." Drew whispered. He returned Roselia to his Pokéball.
"Hey, what are you doing over there?" May asked.
Drew bent down and lifted the guitar case. "I have something for you." He answered.
May saw Drew walk from behind the pillar, holding the black guitar case with the pink and green bow on it, showing her that it's a present. She gasped.
"Is that for…?" May asked.
"You." Drew finished, sitting down. He held out the case to May.
"Y-you...got me...a-a…" May stuttered, reaching both hands out and accepting the guitar case.
"Guitar." Drew finished. "I remember you told me how much you liked playing guitar and that you don't have one so…"
May placed the case in front of her. She looked up at Drew and smiled. "Thank you Drew. I love it!"
"You like the fact that I bought a guitar for you…" Drew started. "But take a look at the guitar."
"Huh?"
"Open it."
May looked down and opened the latches. She then opened the case up. She immediately gasped at the sight of the pink, glittery guitar.
"Like it?" Drew asked.
May looked at Drew. "I love it!" She exclaimed. She looked at the guitar again and took it out. "It's pink! It's glittery! How did you do it Drew?"
"I had professionals spray paint it." Drew answered. "And that's not all that's in there."
May placed the guitar to her side and looked back in the case. She opened the pocket that's inside and took out the footstool, pick, and strap.
"You thought of everything!" May said happily. She held up the pink guitar strap and saw the rose pattern on it. She looked up at Drew. "I love this strap." She said, blushing slightly.
"I had to think of something to add roses to." Drew said. "So you'll think of me when you play."
May's blush deepened. "It's perfect." She looked away from Drew and started attaching the strap to the guitar.
After she did that, she put the footstool and pick back in the case. She carefully put her new guitar back in the case as well. She closed the case.
"Ready to go?" Drew asked.
"Sure am." May answered.
Drew packed up everything back into the basket. May is holding her guitar case and scepter. Drew is holding the picnic basket. They climb and sit down on the carpet, ready to fly back to the castle. "Okay Carpet, let's go." Drew said and he controlled the carpet to fly back to May's balcony.
"Hey Drew." May called while looking down at the forest.
"Hm?"
"Thank you for the wonderful date even though I almost drowned."
"You're...welcome?" Drew said.
May giggled. "It was fun. You know...besides that part of almost drowning."
"Yeah." Drew laughed. "I'm glad you liked it."
"Do you think we can...maybe go on another date sometime?" May asked.
Drew looked at May. "Of course. I'll ask you again sometime." He answered.
"Thank you." May leaned her head on Drew's shoulder.
They flew through the sky like that. The magic carpet made a slow landing hovering over May's balcony. Drew helped May off.
"Well, I better go change." May said.
"Yeah. I'll see you later?" Drew asked as he flew the carpet back a bit to get ready to fly to his room. The carpet was now in front of the balcony.
May walked forward to the railing. "Of course."
Drew smiled. "Great." Was all Drew said before they got silent. They kept staring into each other's eyes.
The carpet suddenly lifted Drew up and closer to May. Drew was now millimeters away from May's face. They stood there for a little bit until Drew leaned in closer to the left and kissed May's cheek. May blushed. May and Drew had déjà vu at this moment. At the beginning of the school year when they starred in the play "Aladdin", this exact moment happened.
Drew backed away and they both smiled at each other. "Goodbye...my Prince." May said.
"Goodbye...Princess." Drew said. He sat back down on the carpet and they flew back to Drew's room.
May gently touched where Drew kissed. Dahlia walked out to the balcony.
"So, how was it?" Dahlia asked.
May jumped a little when she heard a voice. She turned to face Dahlia and then she started walking back inside her room. "Aside from the fact that I'm soaked, it was wonderful."
Dahlia followed May inside and she went into May's closet and came back out with a dress. "Here." She said as she held the dress to May.
May took the dress. "Thanks Dahlia." She went to her bathroom to change.
"Genie?" Drew called. He didn't get a response.
Drew walked over to his bag. "Why is this opened?" He gasped when he noticed what was missing.
"Where's the rose?" Drew asked. The carpet flew next to Drew. "Carpet, the genie's gone!" He said and he suddenly ran to the balcony and looked around. The carpet followed him.
"I remember the genie saying that if the rose and him were separated from each other, he'll be forced to go where the rose is. Someone broke in here and stole the rose!" Drew said. "We need to find it. If in the wrong hands…" His voice trailed off.
"I'm afraid of what could happen." Drew continued. "Let's go carpet." He said as he jumped on the carpet. They took to the sky.
"Who could've taken it?" Drew asked while looking down at the city.
Drew and the carpet saw someone walking to the castle. They flew to an alleyway and peeked around the corner to view this person. Drew saw the two guards at the front of the castle talk to the girl and suddenly bow to her. They then opened the gates and let her inside.
"What? Who is that?" Drew asked. He got back on the carpet and flew to the sky. Drew watched this person walk toward the front doors of the castle. Since she was let inside, the royal guards didn't even question her.
She entered through the front doors of the castle. Drew could no longer see what she was doing, so he flew around to May's balcony.
"I'm back." The girl said evilly when she entered the castle. Norman and Caroline were there, so they now turned to face the girl.
They gasped. "Kiara." Caroline breathed.
"You're back. We haven't seen you in so long." Norman said.
"Yes. Ever since I ran away because you clearly think that I don't deserve to rule!" Kiara yelled.
"We never said that." Caroline said. "Where have you been these past few years?"
At May's balcony, Drew saw May leave her room with Dahlia before he could call her. "She's probably going to meet that person at the front." Drew said quietly to himself. He got off the carpet and walked into May's room, the magic carpet following behind him. Drew exited May's room and followed her.
Back at the front, May and Dahlia make their appearance. "Kiara, you came back." May said.
"Yes May, I'm back." Kiara said darkly. "But I'm here...for revenge."
"Revenge?" May questioned. "What for?"
"For taking away the crown from me!" Kiara yelled. May just looked at her, confused. "I'm the one who deserves to rule! Not you!" She pulled out the rose and twirled it, bringing out the giant yellow genie. He has a sad expression on his face.
Drew gasped from around the corner at the top of the stairs. "Genie." He muttered to himself.
"I-is that a...a…" May stuttered.
"Yes it is. A genie." Kiara said. She put the rose away. "Genie, I want to make my first wish! I wish to be Queen of Hoenn!"
"No…" Drew whispered.
The genie sighed. "As you wish, master." He said in his deep voice.
(This song is "Queen of Mean" from Descendants 3.)
"I'm so tired of pretending. Where's my happy ending?" Kiara started as the genie built up magic in his hands. "I followed all the rules. I drew inside the lines. I never asked for anything that wasn't mine." She sang darkly. "I waited patiently for my time. But when it finally came, they said your name." Kiara sang while looking at May.
"And now I feel this overwhelming pain." Kiara continued as she held her head like she has a headache. "I mean it's in my veins. I mean it's in my brain. My thoughts are running in a circle like a toy train." Kiara put her hands down and continued looking and singing evilly to May, Dahlia, Norman, and Caroline. "I'm kind of like a perfect picture with a broken frame. I know exactly who to blame."
The genie unleashed his magic on Kiara. She continued singing while being surrounded by yellow smoke. "I never thought of myself as mean. I always thought that I'd be the Queen. And there's no in between. Cause if I can't have that," she sang as Caroline started floating up.
"Mom!" May called.
"Then I would be the leader of the dark and the bad. Now there's a devil on my shoulder where the angels used to be. And he's calling me the Queen." Caroline's dress turned into a t-shirt and pants and her crown disappeared.
Kiara's outfit changed into a pink and black dress and the crown that Caroline had was now on Kiara's head. Caroline slowly fell to the floor on her knees. Norman kneeled down and helped Caroline stand.
"Are you okay?" Norman asked.
"I'm fine." Caroline answered while slowly standing up.
The yellow smoke that was surrounding Kiara disappeared. Everyone, including Drew, saw that Kiara has on a pink and black dress and a crown atop her head.
"Being nice was my pastime. But I've been hurt for the last time." Kiara continued as she slowly started walking towards the Royal Family. "And I won't ever let another person take advantage of me. The anger burns my skin, third degree."
"Now my blood's boiling hotter than a fiery sea. There's nobody getting close to me. They're gonna bow to the evil Queen. Your nightmare's my dream." Kiara stopped walking. She was now in the center of the entryway of the castle. She held her right hand out to her side and something materialized in it. "Just wait until they fall to my wicked schemes." A long staff or scepter appeared in her hand. The jewel at the top of it is purple and egg shaped.
"I never thought of myself as mean. I always thought that I'd be the Queen." Kiara pulled her staff to her. "And there's no in between. Cause if I can't have that, then I would be the leader of the dark and the bad. Now there's a devil on my shoulder where the angels used to be." Kiara held out her staff to the top of the stairs. "And he's calling me the Queen of Mean." The jewel on Kiara's staff glowed its purple color and Drew got teleported to in front of Kiara on his knees.
"Oww." Drew said, in pain as he fell to his knees.
May gasped. "Drew!" She started to run towards him until-
"Stop May!" Drew yelled. May stopped in her tracks.
Kiara smiled evilly. She could see how much Drew meant to May. "The Queen of Mean. The Queen of Mean." Kiara used the magic of her staff to teleport Drew somewhere.
"No!" May yelled once she saw Drew disappear.
"Something's pulling me, it's so magnetic." Kiara continued as she slowly started walking towards May again. "My body is moving, unsure where I'm headed. All of my senses have left me defenseless. This darkness around me is promising vengeance." Kiara started walking faster, causing May to back up as she got closer. "The price that I'm willing to pay is expensive. There's nothing to lose when you're lonely and friendless." May stopped at the stairs and Kiara stopped feet away from May. "So my only interest is showing this Princess that I am the Queen and my reign will be endless!" Kiara yelled "endless" to the sky as she held out her hands to her sides, her left hand clawed and her right hand holding up the staff.
When Kiara yelled that, her staff's jewel glowed and thunder could be heard outside the castle. There were dark clouds in the sky and it started raining and thundering hard.
"I want what I deserve. I wanna rule the world!" Kiara sang evilly. "Sit back and watch them learn, it's finally my turn." Kiara quickly turned around and started walking back to the front doors.
"If they want my sister for the Queen, I'm gonna be one like they've never seen. I'll show them what it means. Now that I am that, I will be the ruler of the dark and the bad." Kiara stopped and turned around. Her staff's jewel glowed and her hair changed color from black to purple and pink. "Cause the devil's on my shoulder where the angels used to be. And he's calling me the Queen of Mean." The crown on Kiara's head started changing into a more evil-looking crown. "The Queen of Mean. I want what I deserve!" Kiara tapped her staff on the ground and May, Dahlia, Norman, and Caroline got surrounded by an energy field and lifted up, not being able to move.
