Chapter 44: The Power Of The Scepter

"How could Kiara just lock us up in the dungeon of our castle?" Caroline asked sadly.

Yes, they got teleported to a cell in the dungeon. Yes, Kiara is the one that teleported them. And yes, she's turned into the Queen of Mean. May had tried helping her right her wrong, transforming into a "Love" form of her own in the process, but it didn't work. Kiara still wants to rule the world and with the genie's power and the power of her staff, she can certainly cause some serious damage.

"Drew...why didn't you mention a genie to me?" May muttered. She suddenly gasped. "Drew!"

Norman, Caroline, and Dahlia all looked at May. "May, you should explain this Drew character to us." Caroline said.

"Now's not the time." May said. "I need to find out how to bring him back."

"Is that possible?" Dahlia asked. "I think the genie is the only one with that kind of power."

"And we also need to know about why Kiara has a genie." Norman said.

"Not the time." May said. She held her scepter with both hands in front of her, in a praying position. She closed her eyes as she had her head tilted downwards to face the top of the scepter.

The others watched in curiosity as to what May is doing. ("Come on Drew…") May thought. ("Please come back.")

Norman, Caroline, and Dahlia watched as May's scepter jewel started glowing a faint pink. ("Drew...Come back.") May continued saying in her head.

The jewel glowed brighter. ("You can't leave me...please.") May thought hard, her eyes are still closed and now her eyebrows furrow to show how hard she's pleading. Everyone else watched as the scepter jewel glowed even brighter, almost blinding them. They block the bright light with their hands.

("Drew...Drew...Drew!") She yelled in her head. The jewel now glowed insanely bright and a gust of wind was emanating from the scepter. May could feel the wind blow through her hair and her dress, but she kept her eyes closed. Everyone else was feeling the wind as well.

May kept pleading in her head for Drew to return. The scepter jewel glowed brighter (if that's even possible) and the wind in the cell gathered in one location, creating a mini tornado. The tornado was swirling on the single bed that's in that cell.

Suddenly the tornado disappeared to reveal the unconscious green-haired boy that May pleaded to bring back. He was completely soaked all over because he completely sunk to the bottom of the ocean.

The scepter jewel stopped glowing entirely and May opened her eyes, only to feel weak in her legs. She fell to the ground on her knees and she was panting as if she just ran a marathon.

"May, are you okay?" Dahlia asked worriedly, kneeling down next to her. "What happened?"

"It's like...my energy...was drained...right out of me." May said between heavy breaths.

"I guess your scepter does that when you use too much power." Dahlia said.

"I...guess so." May breathed.

"Well, you did it May." Dahlia said, smiling. "You brought him back."

May smiled. "Yeah." May crawled over to the bed and looked at Drew. She felt sad, seeing as how he isn't moving at all. He was underwater for a long time, so it makes sense.

Norman and Caroline look curiously at Drew. They wonder what he means to May. They remember that May was screaming and crying at Kiara when she said that she sent him to drown in the ocean.

"Drew…" May said sadly. She moved his soggy bangs out of his face. May found that her eyes started getting watery. Some tears escaped her eyes as she stared at the unconscious Drew.

Dahlia crawled over to sit next to May. She placed her hand on Drew's stomach. After a minute, she took it off.

"He's not breathing at all." Dahlia said.

More tears escaped May's eyes. "No...Drew, you can't leave me…" May muttered. She continued crying and looking at Drew's lifeless body.

Dahlia put a hand on May's shoulder. "May, what about Kiara?"

"You're right." May said. She began wiping her eyes. "Kiara is trying to rule the world and I can't let that happen. I know that Drew would want me to save Hoenn before saving him...so that's what I'll do." May started to stand up, only to feel her legs weaken.

May started to fall back down, but Dahlia quickly stood up and held May up, so she wouldn't fall. "Careful." Dahlia said, holding May. "You're still too weak to do anything."

"I have to try." May said. She got out of Dahlia's grasp and walked backwards. She then ended up falling on her butt.

"May, are you okay?" Caroline asked.

"I'm fine." May said. She felt so weak though. She used her scepter's power to bring Drew back from drowning, but it really took a hit on her energy. She felt almost sore all over her body.

"May, stay down. You shouldn't try to do anything now." Dahlia said.

"I guess I have no choice." May said. "I need to get my energy back first."

"Let's get her!" A guard yelled. A lot of royal guards started charging at Kiara with their swords. She stood at the entryway of the castle.

Kiara just watched and smirked evilly at the royal guard coming at her from the side hallways next to the stairway. As soon as she saw no more guards come out of the hallways, she lifted her staff and the jewel glowed.

They still ran towards her. "I'm the Queen. You are to obey me!" She yelled as she slammed the staff back on the ground. A purple wave of smoke appeared and spread through the entire entryway. It stopped the guards in their tracks.

The smoke wave cleared and revealed the guards with completely new looks. They look more evil. Their armor consists of purple and black. Before, their armor was gold. There were at least 20 guards there. They all bowed down on one knee.

"Your Majesty." The guards all said in unison.

Kiara smiled evilly. "Now, all of you stand up." They all stood back up. "Good. Now, I want you two to go to the dungeon and make sure that the prisoners don't escape." She said as she pointed to two of the guards. "Everyone else, go into the city and bring everyone out of their houses. I'd like them to know who their Queen is now."

The guards all follow Kiara's orders. Two went off to the dungeon and the rest exited the castle. Kiara exited the castle after them. She suddenly found two swords being pointed at her. These were the two guards that guard the front doors of the castle. They were outside, so they didn't turn evil...yet.

"What have you done with those other guards?" One guard asked.

"I did nothing to them." Kiara lied. "I only made them better guards for their Queen. Just like I'll do to you." She said darkly. She tapped her staff on the ground again and the two guards immediately bowed on one knee, putting their swords away. Their armor also changed during that moment of bowing down. Now it looks like the others.

"Your majesty." The two guards said.

"I want you two to join the others in the city. Bring everyone out of their houses." Kiara said.

"As you wish, Your Majesty." The guards said.

The genie is currently in his rose and the rose is currently in a dress pocket on Kiara's dress. She's saving her last two wishes for when she really needs them. Kiara is using her staff's power to float her. She's levitating around the outside of the castle and turning the guards evil like the others. She then sends them to guard or do something for her. They all see her as their Queen and since royal guards guard the royals, they all obey Kiara. She soon turns every guard in the castle evil. She now has control of every one of the royal guards. Can someone stop Kiara before she fully takes over?

"Hey! What are you doing here?" May asked as they all saw two guards walk up to their cell.

"And...why do you two look…" Caroline said as she saw their armor changes.

"Evil." May finished.

"Yeah." Caroline agreed. "What's with the evil look?"

"We have orders from Queen Kiara to make sure her prisoners don't escape." One guard said.

"And that means you." The other guard added.

"Queen Kiara?" Norman asked.

"She must've used her staff to mess with their minds." May said.

"Don't you know who we are?" Norman asked.

"Yeah. Prisoners." A guard answered. "We'll be making sure you all don't escape, so don't try anything." They walk away to stand on the far ends of this dungeon hallway.

"Kiara's taken control of the royal guards. What do we do now?" Caroline asked.

May starts to stand up from resting the entire time. She still feels a bit weak, but she succeeds in standing. "I need to stop her." May said.

Norman, Caroline, and Dahlia look at May. "How can you stop her May? She's too strong." Dahlia said.

"My scepter is strong too. I can break us out of here and then I need to battle her magic to magic." May said.

"No May, it's too dangerous." Caroline said.

"I'm not the one in danger. Kiara is." May said. "You've seen how weak I've gotten from using one of the powers from my scepter. Imagine how weak Kiara can get from using all of them."

They all looked at May with sadness, but they know that May might be the only one who can turn Kiara back to normal. "May, please be careful." Caroline said.

May nodded. "I will." She then looked back at Drew. He's still laying on the bed with his soggy clothes and wet hair. He hasn't moved at all which worries May.

May walks over to Drew and kneels down next to the bed. "You guys...can you look away?" May asked.

"Umm...sure." Caroline said. They turn around to face the cell bars.

May looks at Drew's lifeless face and gently brushes his cheek with her hand. May then got up on her knees and leaned in to Drew, pressing her lips to his cheek. It was a soft kiss and it ended quickly, but May felt that she had to kiss him before she goes and battles Kiara with magic. She slowly backed away and stared at his face. May stood back up, facing the cell bars.

"Okay, you can turn back around now." May said. They turn around to face her.

"What'd you do?" Dahlia asked.

"It's nothing." May answered. "Now move away from the bars."

Norman, Caroline, and Dahlia moved to the sides of their cell, giving May room to try and break them free.

May took a deep breath. She held up her scepter in front of her, facing the bars. ("Let's see...how do I blast the bars…?") May thought. She closed her eyes.

"Love beam." A voice said in her head.

May immediately opened her eyes and looked at the heart jewel. ("Love beam?") She thought. She saw the jewel start glowing pink in the middle. It's like May's scepter was talking to her and telling her the name of one of its powers. May's expression turned to confidence.

"Love beam!" May said. The heart jewel glowed pink entirely and a pink beam shot out of it in the shape of a heart. The beam made contact with the metal bars and completely exploded them, creating the black dust that comes after a collision.

After the dust cleared, everyone saw that the bars were completely destroyed. They were scattered all over the floor. The guards that are making sure that they don't escape started running towards the broken cell. Everyone exited the cell and looked both ways at the guards coming at them.

("Scepter, what's next?") May thought.

"Heart shield." A voice said to May.

"Heart shield!" May said, moving her arms out to be perpendicular to her head. Giant pink heart-shaped barriers appeared to their sides in this singular hallway. The guards bump into the heart shields and start pounding it to see if they can break.

"We won't let you escape!" A guard yelled.

May pulled her arms slightly inwards and then pushed them back out firmly. The heart shields followed May's movements and pushed the guards back all the way towards the exits of the hall. The guards hit their heads on the walls and fall to the ground.

"Wow…" Dahlia breathed. Norman, Caroline, and Dahlia are all impressed with how much magic May's scepter had.

May already feels weak again. She still stands, but now she's panting a little.

"May, don't push yourself too hard." Dahlia said.

"I'll try, but Kiara will be hard to fight." May said. She turned around to look at Drew.

May points her scepter to Drew and he slowly starts levitating. "Let's get out of here." May said. They start walking towards the exit of the dungeon. Drew is floating and following them thanks to May's scepter. They step over the fallen guard and exit that dungeon.
