Chapter 45: Unconscious Drew
May, Dahlia, Norman, and Caroline all make it to the entryway of the castle. The unconscious Drew is levitating behind them because May used her scepter's power to lift him. Or at least...he seems to be unconscious. But is he?
Drew slowly starts opening his eyes. He looks to the sky. "Where...where am I?" Drew asked himself as he looked at his surroundings. He started to stand up.
Once he was up, he noticed that he seemed to be in some sort of...dimension. Everywhere Drew looked was purple. No sign of people. No sign of buildings. No sign of...anything. Just him in a purple room. His brain was foggy. How did he get there? What's the last thing that he could remember?
"Hmm...What happened to me earlier?" Drew asked himself. "The last thing I remember is...that...girl and she turned into something...evil?"
Drew started walking forward in the strange purple room, still thinking. "That girl teleported me to the ocean and I...drowned?" He questioned. "Then how am I here?"
An oval-shaped white light appeared in front of Drew. He stopped walking. It looked like a mirror just appeared, but he couldn't see his reflection in it.
Drew stared at the levitating mirror and then an image appeared in it. May. She looked different, but Drew could still tell that it was really her. "May…" Drew said.
He watched the video that the mirror is showing him. He saw May with Dahlia, Norman, and Caroline at the entryway of the castle. The girl that teleported him wasn't there. Drew watched as May moved her scepter and pointed it towards the ground.
Drew gasped as what he saw next. His body. His unconscious body was being gently placed on an extremely soft-looking blanket over what Drew thinks are pillows. Drew looked closely at May's scepter. The heart-shaped jewel was glowing its pink color. Drew figured out that May must be the one that's levitating him. The jewel stopped glowing once Drew was placed on the pillows and blankets. Dahlia brought another soft blanket and placed it over him.
"If I'm there, then…" Drew said to himself. "Why am I also here?"
"Thanks Dahlia." May said. "I need to go face Kiara now."
"Please be careful May." Dahlia said.
May nodded. "You guys stay here. Could be dangerous."
"Good luck." Caroline said. "Try to save Kiara from using too much magic."
"I'll try." May said. She started walking past the unconscious Drew and to the front doors of the castle.
Once she took five steps past Drew, she stopped and turned around. "Please take care of him." May said.
Dahlia nodded. "He's safe with us." With that, May turned back around and started walking to the front doors.
"Kiara...magic…" Drew said. Something in Drew's head clicked. "She's the one that wanted me to drown."
"But who is she? And what is she to the Royal Family?" Drew asked himself. There's so many questions going on in Drew's head right now.
Drew just realized something. "Wait...did May say that it could be dangerous?" He asked himself.
"Now! Attention everyone!" Kiara yelled while levitating herself with her staff. She is currently speaking to the entire city of Petalburg. Her evil royal guards did what she told them to do and they forced everyone out of their houses. The people were shivering in the cold, because the thunderstorm that Kiara created earlier never went away. It's raining hard on everyone, but Kiara has some sort of protection around her that's keeping her from getting wet.
"I'm the new Queen of Hoenn! And you all will do as I command!" Kiara yelled from the sky.
Some children hug their parents in fear. Everyone has a scared expression on their face. The people are all surrounded by royal guards as well, making sure they don't leave.
"Mommy, I'm scared." A little girl says while hugging her mom's leg tightly.
"Just stay with me. I won't let anything bad happen to you." The mother says.
"She's not the Queen!" A lady, probably in her 60s, yelled. "What happened to Queen Caroline?!"
"Yeah! Where is she?!" Someone else yelled.
"That pathetic excuse for a Queen?" Kiara asked angrily. "She doesn't deserve your admiration and she doesn't deserve to rule!"
The adults of the city started yelling at Kiara, saying that she is the one that doesn't deserve to rule.
"Silence!" Kiara yelled, thunder booming. Everyone stopped talking.
"Listen to me, I'm the Queen and you are to do as I say!" Kiara yelled.
"That's not what a Queen does!" May's voice was heard from the front gates of the castle. Everyone looked at her, including Kiara.
"It's Princess May!"
"She'll stop her!"
"She'll save us!"
The people were cheering for the appearance of May. Kiara got more irritated and made the thunder boom again, quieting everyone.
"What do you think you're doing here?" Kiara asked angrily.
May harnessed the power of her scepter and she levitated herself up. "I'm here to stop you from taking over."
Everyone watched as the newly dressed May levitates like Kiara. They all watch them both in shock.
"You think you can stop me?" Kiara challenged. "My staff has more power than your scepter, just admit it."
"It might." May said. "But I won't know until I try."
"She's...going to use magic to stop her." Drew said. The mirror is still showing Drew the real world and what's currently happening. "If she gets hit by the magic in Kiara's scepter…" His voice trailed off. Drew started feeling scared that May could get seriously hurt by Kiara. He has to find a way to somehow wake himself up.
"Come on...wake up." Drew told himself. "I feel like May felt that she lost me…" Drew closed his eyes. After a few seconds, he shot open his eyes and said, "I can't lose her."
"Let's just see what your scepter is capable of May." Kiara said evilly. Kiara firmly moved her staff forward and a purple beam shot out of the jewel towards May.
"Heart shield." May said as she firmly moved her left hand in front of her, palm facing Kiara. The scepter is of course in her right hand and it glows every time May uses its power. The beam hit the shield and didn't damage May. Kiara stopped firing the beam.
"May...May…" Drew kept repeating while pacing back and forth.
"Love beam!" May said as she firmly held out her scepter in front of her. The pink heart-shaped beam of light shot out of the heart jewel and towards Kiara. Kiara blocked it with her own shield, only purple and plain oval-shaped.
"Not bad." Kiara said. "But there's more in my staff than that!"
"May...stay safe…" Drew said, still pacing. "Who am I kidding? There's no way May will last during that battle. I need to wake up. Just wake up." Drew told himself.
A voice in May's head told May to say "Heart shards." ("I guess that's another attack this scepter has.") May thought. ("Let's try it.")
"Heart shards!" May said. Floating pink shards, like an Ice Shard attack only pink, appeared all around May. May lifted her scepter to the sky and then pointed it at Kiara as if saying "Attack!"
Those pink shards flew towards Kiara with great speed. Kiara quickly created a sideways tornado in front of her by moving her staff in a circular motion. The shards got completely destroyed in the purple tornado. Kiara then sent the tornado at May.
The voice in May's head told her to say "Love Tornado."
"Love Tornado!" May yelled as she brought her scepter up to her left shoulder and then firmly moved it diagonally across her body, pointing down to her right in the end. A pink tornado formed in front of May and flew towards the purple one. They both collided, creating a giant tornado and blowing everything around in the area. Everyone's clothes and hair, papers that might've been littered on the ground, dirt from gardens, and the giant tornado tried to suck May into it that she lost her concentration and her levitation deactivated.
May started falling to the ground. "May!" She heard a voice yell. She quickly activated her levitation again to safely land on the ground.
"That voice…" She muttered. She knew whose voice she heard yell at her in her head. It was Drew's. He yelled from his different dimension which helped her land safely. "How could he…?"
Kiara still levitated in the air and the tornado fully disappeared. "Don't tell me you couldn't handle that tornado." Kiara said.
Her grip on her scepter got tighter and she levitated back to the sky. "I'm not finished yet." May said. "I will save you Kiara!"
"I don't need saving. Shouldn't your precious boyfriend need that more?" Kiara taunted.
May felt more and more angry at Kiara. Kiara's fully lost it. Kiara calls her mom pathetic and she brings up that she drowned Drew. May doesn't like this. She doesn't like how her sister has gotten completely consumed in her evil magic. Kiara can't seem to stop and she keeps getting stronger and stronger.
In the castle, Drew suddenly opened his eyes and sat up. He was breathing heavily as if he just woke up from a nightmare.
"Drew, you're awake!" Dahlia exclaimed.
Drew looked to Norman, Caroline, and Dahlia. He then took note of where he was. He was on the same pillows and covered by the same blanket from that other dimension. They were in the entryway of the castle at the bottom of the stairs.
"Where's May?" Drew asked suddenly.
"She's outside in front of the castle walls." Dahlia said.
Drew stood up and started walking towards the front doors.
"Wait! It's dangerous out there!" Dahlia called to him.
Drew stopped walking. "I need to do something." He clenched his fists. He paused before continuing. "I can't let her get more hurt!" Drew said as he ran towards the front doors and opened them. He ran outside.
"Let's go see what happens to them." Caroline said. They all follow Drew outside.
Drew continues running towards the gates of the castle. He looks up at the sky in the short distance, May and Kiara are currently floating in the sky and launching attacks at each other. He only notices that May is panting.
Kiara unleashes her purple beam at May. She tries to shield, but the shield disappeared and May got a direct hit from the purple beam. The people all gasp and watch as May starts falling towards the ground with her eyes closed.
Drew gasped as well when he saw May get hit and start falling. Luckily, Drew was already close enough to the castle gates that he managed to run to the place May would hit the ground. May was still falling and Drew held out his arms. He caught May in her arms, kept his ground to stop himself from falling to the ground, and held her bridal style. Everyone saw Drew catch her. He slowly kneeled down and placed her on the ground.
May slowly started opening her eyes. "Drew?" Was what she said when her eyes were half-opened.
Drew smiled. May proceeded to open her eyes completely. She stared at the green-haired boy beside her for a while. Her eyes started getting watery.
She lunged herself at Drew, wrapping her arms around his neck, and embracing him. "Drew!" She cried. "I missed you!"
Drew found himself returning the hug. He heard May sniffle, telling him that May is crying. He tightened the hug which calmed May down a bit.
Drew released May and looked at her eyes which were crying several tears right now. Drew smiled. May looked away from Drew, her face red from embarrassment, and she started wiping her tears.
"I-I'm sorry." May said, wiping her tears. "You shouldn't see me like this. I-I'm not...my best right now."
Drew took May's hands off of her face and he turned May's head with his hand. He looked into May's eyes and smiled. "To me, you always look beautiful."
May felt herself blush. "B-but...my eyes are-"
"Beautiful." Drew cut May off. May's blush deepened and she shyly smiled. Drew wiped the remainder of the tears on May's face with his thumb.
"Aww...how sweet." Kiara said ominously as she slowly floated back down to the ground.
Drew removed his hand from May's face and they both looked at Kiara. "May, what is Kiara to you?" Drew asked.
"My sister." May answered.
Drew immediately turned to face May, his face in shock. "Your sister?"
May nodded. Drew turned back to look at Kiara.
"Good. Now that you know who I am, I'm going to have to order you to move out of the way and let me finish the fight against your girlfriend there." Kiara said darkly.
"Girlfriend?" Norman and Caroline asked themselves quietly while watching the show from the castle gates.
May's grip on her scepter tightened and she started to stand up. Drew grabbed her hand, keeping her from getting up.
May looked at Drew. "Drew, what's wrong?"
"You're not continuing this battle." Drew said.
"But I have to." May said. "I'm the only one that can turn her back to normal."
"But I'm scared of losing you." Drew said. "Just like you thought you lost me."
May frowned. She hated how she felt when she found out that Drew wasn't breathing. She sat back down like she was before.
"So, giving up?" Kiara challenged.
"I need to do this Drew." May said quietly.
Drew continued looking at May. He knew that she probably is the only one that can stop Kiara. He released May's hand and nodded.
"You can do it." Drew said.
May smiled. "Thanks. Go ahead and stay with my parents and Dahlia at the entrance." May added as she looked over at the castle.
Drew cupped May's left cheek with his hand and leaned in to place a kiss on her right cheek. It was a small one and he backed away right after his lips made contact with her cheek. He removed his hand from her cheek and stood up. He helped May stand up, her face red. He smiled.
"I believe in you Princess." Drew said. He turned around and started walking towards the castle gates. May smiled and turned to face Kiara, her grip tightening around her scepter.
