Chapter 5: "Leaving On a Jet Plane"

Mei smiled as she started saying, "Thank you, I do like your bravery and honesty… something that I can't do, being honest to what I feel over someone, but I need to stop this absurd habit and tell her."

"Her?!" Unbeknownst to Mei, almost everyone was looking in her direction as she splurged an honest proclamation.

"Yes."

…

The last few days, Mei was waiting for Yuzu's arrival in the office, amethyst eyes piercing through the crowd, and searching for a certain blonde girl.

Her number one confidant. Her lunch buddy. Her internet friend. Her Stranger. And most importantly, her first love.

She was fairly waiting for Yuzu's messages last night, staring at her phone screen that almost burned her retinas and wishing for a text message that begins with a childish nickname, "Hey Stranger."

When Yuzu arrived, not in her uniform and a chaotic hair with a paper in hand, she didn't know what to feel. Yuzu was taking a permanent leave, without saying so much as a goodbye.

The first thing that came inside her mind was their promised dinner before Yuzu would take a vacation in Japan. Not this.

Mei couldn't help but feel betrayed. Defeated. And the worst was, unloved.

She stared at Yuzu from a distance as the blonde glanced at her for a millisecond.

Mei felt that there was something wrong. Something alarming at the way the blonde was acting. She wanted to grab her and maybe slap her out of that impulsive act.

Without noticing it, hot tears started to roll on her crimson cheeks. And then realization dawned on her, Yuzu was leaving just like what her parents did.

"Hey," Yuzu said with a shy smile. "I'm leaving." She held her hand to cup Mei's cheeks and wiped the tears that continued to pour out of Mei's eyes with her thumb. "Don't cry, please. It makes me feel guilty about not taking you to that dinner and cooking for you one last time."

"I'm not crying about that, stupid! I'm crying because it's your fault! You made me feel like this! You made me go crazy about you just for you to leave! You waltzed your way into my life and you left something inside of me." Mei clutched her chest as she drowned from her sobs.

"What are you talking about?" Yuzu asked, heart thumping loudly, but she guarded her heart down. She didn't want to put her hopes up again.

"I'm talking about the fact that I love you!" Mei cried as she clung to Yuzu's clothes for dear life. "How can you be so oblivious sometimes!? Have you ever watched those videos about falling in love on Youtube?"

Yuzu giggled as she wrapped her arms around Mei. She planted kisses on the crowns of her queen's head.

"What are you laughing at?" The raven-haired glared at her.

"Okay, okay I'll stop now. I thought that I didn't have a chance. And then yesterday happened." The smile in Yuzu's voice was apparent.

"What about yesterday?"

"It was about someone sharing the same interest with me, and I'd gladly hand it if it were just my laptop, heck, I would give him my car, but I just can't stand seeing someone having you other than me." Yuzu was embarrassed as she blushed from her neck to cheeks.

"Are you still leaving? Now that you know where my affections belong to?"

God, urghh! you're adorable.

"Pfft, of course, I would still leave. Plane Tickets are expensive, you know." Yuzu laughed but added hastily once she'd seen Mei's reaction, "But not before I have that dinner with you."

"Yuzu, I will miss you."

I'm gonna have to get used to this.

"You sure will." She kissed Mei's forehead. "Did you know how much I've wanted to do that?"

"You still didn't say it."

"Say what?" Yuzu stared at her in a contemplative manner as she smiled, "Hey Stranger. I love you. I hope I'm no longer a stranger next time."
