It was a week after Sue's welcome back party, and everyone was glad she stayed, especially Jack.! It was Christmas time, and Sue rushed to get her teammates gifts. This year the surveillance team was let off for a week so they could celebrate Christmas, a new rule D made since he had been promoted supervisor of their unit.
"Morning!" Sue said happily, walking into the bullpen. "Morning!" Everyone said happy that things got back to normal. Sue walked up to Jack, and handed him a small box. "This is my Christmas gift for you!" She smiled. "Thanks! I actually have something for you too!" He handed her a small gift bag. "Thanks! I appreciate this!" She walked back to her desk. Suddenly D walked into the bullpen, and made an announcement. "As you all know, we will be taking a week off for Christmas, starting after lunch break! The backup surveillance team will takeover, while we have holiday plans!" D crossed his arms. "Yes!" Myles exclaimed standing on his swivel chair with paper in his hand. As he did so, it slipped out of his hands, and cut his thumb. "Stupid paperwork, this is your fault!" He pointed at the lifeless object, that inflicted pain to his thumb. He flipped his hair and searched for a band aid, in Lucy's purse. "Myles! You don't just rummage through a ladies purse!" Lucy snatched it up, just as he found one, and put it on his thumb. "I do what I want!" He said sarcastically, and walked over to the box of doughnuts that lay on Jack's desk, and flipped it open. "Why is their only one glazed doughnut! I was going to dunk two in my coffee! Myles searched frantically for another one. He went to snatch it up, as Jack grabbed it up beyond his reach, and sat behind his desk. Myles flipped his hair, straightened his tie, and sat in his swivel chair. Jack pondered weather to eat the glazed delight, or to give it to someone specific. He knew how much Sue loved it also. So he got up, and walked towards her desk, and tapped on her shoulder, to get her attention. She looked up, and saw him standing there with a doughnut in hand. "I figured you probably wanted this!" Thanks!" She sat it on her desk. Jack couldn't help but stare at her beautiful blue eyes, and perfect blonde hair. He smiled at her, the smile he only gave her, as they stared into each others eyes. He quickly broke eye contact, as they looked around the room, to see everyone looking at them. Tara walked into the bullpen, with a paper coffee cup, full of hot coco. She sat down at her desk, and took a big gulp of coco, not noticing the milk mustache that had formed upon her upper lip! It was only a few minutes before the team started laughing immensely"Enjoy your coco much!" Bobby said between wheezing, and uncontrollable laughter. A bit embarrassed Tara wiped off her lip, and typed on her computer.
That afternoon everyone sat in the cafeteria conversing with one another. "What plans do you all have for the holidays ?" Bobby asked taking a bite of his turkey, cheese, and bacon sandwich. "Well I am not doing much, just binge watching Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan series, but other than that nothing much." Tara sipped her smoothie. "I am forced to hang out with Howie, and Otis, but I would do anything to not spend time with them!" Myles said with disgust. "I am just hanging out with Donna, and the kids, but that is it." D smiled.
After lunch break, everyone was out for the day. "I have a idea! What if we got to Sloppies tonight, we haven't done that in awhile!" Jack got into the elevator with everyone, and pushed for the first floor on the levels panel of the elevator. "Hey we never asked you Sparky what you were doing for Christmas?" Bobby asked inquisitively. "Just hanging out with the people I love!" Jack looked at Sue, who clearly didn't know what he was getting at!
That night Sue pulled into the restaurant parking lot, in her little red mustang convertible with Levi sitting in the seat beside her. She walked in, and saw Lucy waving her hand enthusiastically beckoning her to come sit in the wrap around booth. "Here Sue you can sit by Jack, I can move!" Lucy said knowingly. Sue gave Lucy, and Tara the look of "I know what your trying to do." They ordered their food, and talked about Christmas plans, when Jack had a splendid idea pop into his head. "Hey why don't we all go to Aspen Grove Lodge for Christmas." He looked around the room. "I am game!" Everyone said happily. "Then it is settled we leave this Sunday!"
It was getting late, and Jack, offered to walk Sue to her car. "I had a splendid night!" Sue smiled, and looked at him, as the snow began to fall. Taking Sue by the hand, they rushed toward her car. "Well goodnight Sue!" Jack opened the car door for her. "Goodnight Sparky!" She laughed, and buckled in her seatbelt. "Well I won't deny, I love spending time with the people I love!" Jack stopped shock by what he said. He waved goodbye as he shut the door, and watched as she sped away with Levi looking out the window. Jack walked to his car, and got inside, and started his car. He put his hands on his steering wheel, in pure confusion. He thought things would be easier since Sue left, but now that she stayed he didn't know now.
The next morning Sue woke up early, and started packing clothes into her suitcase, when Lucy knocked on the door. Levi scratched the door, to let Sue know someone was at her bedroom door. She opened the door, and saw Luce standing there with a cup of coffee in hand. "Hi I was packing, and looking for my snow boots, when I remembered I got rid of them! I won't have any for the trip tomorrow!" Lucy said frantically, almost jolting the coffee out of her mug. Just then Sue's phone vibrated from her belt. "Your phone is vibrating. " Lucy pointed. Sue picked up her blackberry, and read the words on the screen, as she talked into her microphone. "Hi, this is Sue, who is this?" She asked. "Hi this is Tara! I might have some bad news, so I don't have any scarves, for the trip! I gave all three of them, to a winter charity last year!" Tara yelled in fashion panic over the phone. Sue hung up, and put her blackberry, back in her pouch which was part of her belt. "It's official, we are making today a shopping day!" She happily walked into the kitchen, and poured herself a cup of herbal tea, as the girls ate a breakfast of bacon, and eggs. Thirty minutes later Tara arrived at their apartment, so the girls could ride together to the D.C International Mall. Sue was putting on makeup, in the hallway in front of a mirror, as Tara approached her. She tapped on shoulder, as Sue spun around in fright, and spilled the powder everywhere! "I am so sorry!" Tara crouched down, and cleaned it up with a towel.
Twenty minutes later Sue closed the door tightly behind them, with Levi, trailing at their heels, out of the apartment building, and outside into the car. It was Saturday, and the traffic stopped, as they sat in traffic for ten straight minutes. The girls went to multiple stores, but had no luck. They finally decided to go to Sears hoping they would have better luck, then all the other stores they had tried. The girls went into the scarf and boot isle, when Sue saw someone she recognized across the isle. She looked closer. "No it can't be Myles." She thought, but sure enough it was, as she walked towards him. "HI Myles! I didn't know you were shopping here today." She laughed. " Hello Thomas. It isn't just me. Bobby and Jack are gathering last minute things for the trip tomorrow!"He said turning, and looking at himself in the mirror with a scarf wrapped around his neck." Just then Jack rounded the corner, and saw Sue standing there petting Levi. "Well your a sight for sore eyes, I didn't expect to see you till tomorrow!" He smiled at her. 'You could call it a chance encounter!" She smiled back. "Well I better go help Bobby, wish him luck he has bad fashion sense sometimes!" He laughed. Bobby peeked out from the boot rack, and waved to Sue happily! "Hey Sue, its a wonderful day isn't it!" He struggled to put on his boots. "I better go see how Tara, and Luce are doing!" She turned to walk across the isle. Soon the girls waited at the register behind the guys who were in front. Jack looked back, and saw Sue holding a sky blue colored snow hat. "You can go in front of us." He offered kindly. "Oh no, it is fine, I am good staying right here. You guys go ahead." Sue said readjusting the bag. "Honest, please go ahead, we are the ones who should wait." He let the girls go ahead of them. Sue looked back slightly, and saw Jack staring at her romantically, he winked at her. Her cheeks turned bright red as she grabbed her bag from the registry, and walked out with the rest of the girls. "Your paying mate!" Bobby gave him a nudge, as Myles and him watched the whole thing take place. "Oh sorry!" jack slid his credit through the scanner. "Oh yes, seems as Jack was thinking of more beautiful, and important things!" Myles laughed.
That night the guys were driving home from the mall. "So Sir Jack, when are you, and Ms. Thomas, or should I say maybe the future Mrs. Hudson." Myles asked inquisitively. "Ok first of all Sue, and I are not dating! And second we can't court because of the stupid no dating policy!" Jack put both hands on the steering wheel. "Oh he must REALLY Love her since he changed it from dating to courting! He must really Love her too if he thinks the no dating policy is crazy." Myles gave him a nudge. Jack was getting mad, and under pressure. "Yea Sparky who doesn't wink at someone they love." Bobby laughed waiting for a honest answer. "Ok I love Sue Thomas, I have loved her since the day I laid eyes on her!" He said slamming the breaks, and getting out of the car. "She has the prettiest hair, and blue eyes, and the nicest smile, and the most amazing smile!" Jack leaned his elbow up against the roof of the car. "There are you happy now?" The rest of the way home was in silence, but Bobby, and Myles knew what was happening.
