It was Monday, and the team had just gotten back from Christmas in Colorado. Since Jack and Sue's kiss in the ice rink, they were unsure what to do about their relationship predicament. There was still a no dating policy, and they were sure they were not able to hide their feelings from the FBI. They would each sign "I Love You" from their desk's, and secretly hold hands under the table at lunch. "Ok I can't stand it! Are you both courting?" Myles asked smiling. "Well um, we don't." That was all the blushing couple could say. "Don't worry Sparky, Sue, your secret is safe with us don't be embarrassed that we saw you kissing!" Bobby laughed. "Wait You saw us kissing!" They both exclaimed in pure embarrassment. "Yup!" Lucy happily squealed. "Oh come on Sparky you finally got your wish, now you can be with are dear sue!" Myles grabbed a doughnut among his mess on his desk. Jack looked at Sue, with a romantic smile, and gave her a wink, as her cheeks turned red.
That afternoon the team was working on a case regarding a sniper terrorist. "Wait I think I got it! Tara said as the team rushed over to her computer. "I finally got the numbers decoded, and it says his next target is the D.C Mall, on M street! "Ok Bobby, I need a team out there with S.W.A.T, blocking the area, come on people we need to get out their and suit up!" Jack grabbed his coat. Sue, Tara, and Lucy, sat in the surveillance van, while Jack, Bobby, Myles, D, and S.W.A.T were inside the mall. They waited and searched the area, for a whole hour, and there was still no sign of the sniper. "Ok were coming outside, no sign of the sniper." Jack said through the intercom. Just as they came outside, Sue saw someone out the window, on a high building, it was the sniper! "Jack! The sniper!" Sue yelled through the intercom. He looked up, and saw him straight in the eye, just as a bullet pierced through the air, and sped towards Jack. Sue rushed out towards him, just as the bullet hit her! Jack saw Sue fall to the ground and hit the pavement, as blood gushed out, he rushed over, and held her in his lap, her jacket was drenched in blood, as he realized she had been shot in the shoulder! "Sue come on Sue! He said through tears streaming from his eyes. But he remembered she wouldn't be able to hear him if she was unconscious, or awake unless she was reading his lips. It scared him, as Sue laid there, almost lifeless. He took his jacket off, and tried to stop the heavy bleeding. "Agent down!" He said. "Who is it?" Tara asked with deep concern. "It's Sue!" He said through his tears. Bobby rushed over, and saw Sue laying there, as Jack was covered in blood. "Bobby we need an ambulance!" "Already on it, should be here any minute!" Soon a ambulance came, and rushed to the hospital. As the team stood back, arms around each other, tears in their eyes , wondering what would happen to their dear Sue, teammate, and friend. Jack got a change of clothes, and the team piled into a SUV, and sped towards the hospital, Jack drove the fastest he had ever driven, even more then in a car chase.
The team sat in the hospital waiting room for an hour. Bobby finally got up, and asked the lady if there was an news about Sue, his eyes were red from crying, he considered her as a sister, and hated if anything would ever happen to her. He sat back down beside Tara, and let her lean on his shoulder as he kissed her on he forehead. "I can't do this!" Jack let his phone drop to the floor, and break, as he ran outside. "I better go see if he is alright." Bobby got up from his chair, went outside, and found Jack sitting on a snow covered hospital bench. "Are you ok?" Bobby asked. Jacks hands were buried in his face, as he looked at Bobby, Jack's eyes were red from tears. "I Love her Crash. I really really love her more than I have ever loved anyone." "Well the question is, can you live without Sue in your life?" Jack, sat there wondering, just as the doors opened, and out came a bounding Levi, with Lucy. "Jack, Bobby the doctor wants to talk to us regarding Sue, They each went back inside. "Doctor is there any news?" They all asked. "Well good news is, she is awake, your friend suffered a major injury. The doctor pulled out a small glass vial which contained the four hundred caliber bullet which hit Sue. Your friend, she has a minor concussion, and of course the bullet wound, but I believe she will make a full recovery you may go see her if you would like, she is in room 211, I believe strongly that your friend will make a full recovery." "Thank you doctor." They said gladly.
They soon found Sue's room, and in came the team, and a very happy Levi. She looked up, and saw Jack, holding a big bouquet of roses. "Well it turns out he isn't the only ones excited to see you." Jack smiled. "You get better, the Bullpen won't be the same without you if you don't!" Bobby laughed. "The apartment is gonna feel empty without you!" Tara, and Lucy said. "You get better Thomas, and yes I admit I will miss you in your leave of recovery and absence." Myles said. "Well we better go, you need your rest." Lucy said. "Jack could you stay please." Sue petted Levi. "Sure, anything for you." Jack pulled up a chair, and sat down by Sue's bed." "We wished nothing had happened to you. He stopped. I wished nothing had happened to you. He took her hand, with both hands, as tears streamed down his face. I don't know what I would had done, if I had lost you Sue. His voice broke. I'm so sorry Sue, I should have protected you more, then you wouldn't be lying here in this hospital bed twisted with pain. I'm so sorry." He said over and over. "Jack its ok it is not your fault, sometimes bad things happen to the people we love, we just have to trust God, because it is in His hands." Sue said smiling, she still had that beautiful smile as always then Jack remembered Bobby's words: Can you live without her.
A week later, Sue was all better, so Jack, and Sue decided to take a walk in the garden beside the hospital. "I'm really glad your better, because there is something I need to tell you." Jack said leading Sue to sit on a park bench, as he pulled out a ring from his pocket. Sue was aghast, and didn't know what to say. "I know, there is still the FBI'S no dating policy, but they never said you couldn't marry someone. Sue Thomas I have loved you ever since you accidentally stepped foot into the wrong office. Would you do me the honor of being my wife." He said with a twinkle in his eyes. Tears of joy filled in her eyes, ad blurred her vision, all she could do was sign "Yes." Jack put the ring on Sue's finger, and spun her around, and kissed her, as Levi happily jumped on them. "When should we tell them?" Sue asked staring into his eyes. "Well our parents already know, but I think we should tell our teammates today!" Jack grabbed her hand, and ran with her to his car, opened the door for her, and got inside.
They ran into the bullpen, and yelled, "We're engaged!" With the happiest smiles. The whole team was completely flabbergasted, but was very joyous, and exchanged happy hugs. "Well good job Sparky you finally took our advice, about our dear Sue." Bobby put his arms around everyone. "Oh speaking of which I have something to show everyone!" Jack said happily. Linked hand in hand, everyone ran outside with Jack leading, and got into a SUV. Soon they arrived, to the surprise location, and parked on the street. "There it is!" Jack pointed. There stood the same house they had stayed in when they were undercover as a married couple, and he knew how much Sue loved it. "Jack you bought this. The house must have cost you a fortune!" Sue was very surprised. "Don't worry about that, but it is ours! Maybe this time we can actually paint the living room!" Everyone laughed. "Well I love it Sparky!" He kissed her and hugged her, as everyone smiled.
