The three girls woke up in their beds after their expenditure to Mako Island. Yesterday seemed like a dream but it was hard for them to shake off the image of the island and the glowing pool.

As soon as Emma woke up, she brushed her teeth, put on some deodorant, and got changed.

"Morning." She hummed as she walked down the stairs.

"Morning, Em." Her mother replied cheerfully.

"How was yesterday's sleep, Emma? You seem to arrive pretty late at night." Her father noted.

"It was just a dumb sea trip."

"Hopefully the OZ officials didn't give you a hard time." Her mother chuckled.

"They were a little annoyed, but they let us off with a warning," Emma replied as she went to grab some water taking a slow sip.

"Well be careful next time." Neil Gilbert lectured her daughter. He knew she was a responsible girl but there were times i in the past where she went off course.

"Yeah. They might put you in some camp lockdown or something!" Her little brother chimed in but his comment earned some harsh glares from his parents.

Emma rolled her eyes and chuckled. But suddenly the Gilbert phone started to ring. Naturally, her mother went to pick up the phone.

"Hello?" The older woman asked as she turned to her daughter. "Emma, honey. It's for you."

Emma slowly grabbed the phone.

"Hello?"

"Emma." Cleo's voice echoed from the opposite end.

"Cleo? What's up?"

"Could you go to your room? What I'm about to tell you is urgent and a secret."

"Okay?" Emma responded as she looked at her parents who gave her the ok.

As Emma walked with the phone to her room, she shut the door behind her.

"I'm in my room. What's up?"

"So Rikki and I discovered that we grew tails the moment we touch the water. Rikki grew hers when the sprinkler hit her lawn, and I grew mine in the shower. Unfortunately, Kim complained that I spent a bit too much time there."

"This better not be a joke."

"It's not. Why would we lie about this, Em?"

Emma took a deep sigh.

"It's possible that you will grow yours too since you were with us in that glowing pool that day at Mako." Cleo continued.

"Seriously?" Emma gasped in shocked as she tried to process everything that was going on. If she really was a mermaid, then her swimming career would be over.

"What do we do?"

"You know what? This afternoon I'll go to Mako to investigate how to undo this spell. Right now, I need to concentrate on my school work."

"Ok, but be careful, Em. There are OZ soldiers out there, both in and out of the water. You need to be careful. They can't know our secret. Who knows what they will do to us?"

"I honestly don't want to find out. But I'll talk to you later, yeah?"

"Alright. Take care, Em."

As soon as Emma ended the call, she quickly focused on her school work. Her clock pointed at 9:30 AM. Using her time productively, she managed to complete all of her school work and studying in 6 hours with some breaks of course.

"Done with school?" Neil asked curiously.

"Yeah, Dad. You always told me that if I put my heart and soul into a task, it would be done."

"That I did, and I'm glad I raised such a responsible and wonderful daughter."

Emma smiled as she headed straight to the door.

"Going out?"

"Yeah, Dad. I just want to get in some more swimming time. Who knows? When I get to be a really famous swimmer I might need to swim long distances."

"Alright, Em." Her father nodded turning his head towards his newspaper. "And avoid OZ at all costs. We don't want a repeat of yesterday, yeah?"

"Right." The girl nodded as she left the Gilbert household, walking towards the beach in her swimsuit.

The afternoon was the best time to swim as there were a few people around at the Gold coast beachlines. If what Cleo said was true, then the probability of being seen would be slim to none.

Slim odds? She'd take that any day. Diving into the water, she swam a couple of miles away from the beach, and as she got up, her eyes widened as she felt something strange happening to her. Her human legs were gone, replaced with a long aquatic tail. For some reason, she felt a bit more energetic than usual.

Emma quickly recalled the time her dad told her about mermaids. Of course, they were a fairytale, but she distinctly remembers her father telling her that these creatures were the fastest sea creatures in the ocean. She was always a girl that didn't see things at face value. She was hungry to test her new powers. This new transformation to be exact. With nothing stopping her, she darted to Mako underwater. Not even the OZ's Pieces and Cancer mobile suits were able to see her.

When she arrived in Mako's moonpool, she spent 30 minutes trying to find a cure to the mermaid spell. With no manuscripts to be found, she gave up the search retreating back to Gold Coast.

As she swam underwater, she noticed a strange body floating on the surface. As she bobbed her head above the surface she saw the figure encased in a brown space suit of some kind. Her natural instinct told her to save this man. Sparing no time, she held onto the man and continued to swim faster to the shore.

Meanwhile, at the Australian airport, Relena and her father were pestered by reporters. Since her father was a politician involved greatly in the war between two worlds, there was no helping it. When they reached the end of the elevator, an army official and his two subordinates awaited them.

"We have been waiting for you, Mr. Darlian." The official said. "A military car is awaiting you outside. Please proceed quickly."

"Right away? That won't do. I have some things to take care of first for my daughter's birthday."

"I have arranged for a separate car to take your daughter."

"Don't trouble yourself with me. I'm much capable of finding my own way home." Relena spoke with a gentle smile.

As the official and Relena's father entered the car, Relena looked from behind watching it disappear from her view. Out of many ways to go home, the most peaceful way was along the Golden Coast shore. She loved the sound of the waves and the lack of people thereof. As Relena treaded on the sand, a surge of frustration filled her brain.

"Father! Don't you realize my birthday is coming up soon!" She shouted into the sea but no response came. "The average girl would flip over this."

She sat down on the sand trying to soak in the moment more. She saw an aircraft pass her in the sky.

"A military plane. This place would have been something better if it weren't for those planes." She muttered in disgust. Taking a breath, she closed her eyes.

"I guess I'll head home."

When she opened them, she couldn't believe what she saw.
