Shizukana Hisui stared blankly at the slightly shorter male standing just beyond the threshold of the raven's apartment. Viridian green orbs took in the pink hue dusting cheeks of the brunette shifting nervously in front of him. Running his fingers through his tousled ear length raven locks, Hisui stepped to the side to allow Gekkou Hayate entrance. Hayate nodded his thanks, a muffled cough escaping whether from nerves or his chronic illness went unknown to the raven who closed the door behind the brunette.
"Shizukana-san, we're friends right?" Hayate asked softly, his mocha gaze flickering up to Hisui's viridian orbs only to quickly look away.
"What is it that could not wait until morning, Gekkou?" Hisui questioned, his body both physically and mentally exhausted.
The raven had just returned that afternoon from a three week A-Rank mission to Waterfall Country. It took him an hour for his team to debrief with the Hokage and when he arrived home, all he wanted was a hot shower, some dinner, and to collapse face first on his bed to sleep for the next fifteen hours. He had barely shut his eyes before there was a knock at his door.
"I know you just returned from a long mission *cough*, so I'll make this quick. Will you pretend to be my boyfriend?" Hayate asked, his voice slightly raspy as he fought off another cough.
Hisui's brow rose at the brunette's words.
"Why not ask Shiranui?" Hisui inquired of the equally tired looking male.
Hayate bit his bottom lip, taking a moment to think everything that had happened to him over the past week.
"I was going to, but it's Uzuki Yugao. She would never believe Genma-san and I to be lovers," Hayate stated with a heavy sigh. "She would never think to approach you regarding our supposed relationship."
Viridian orbs narrowed in thought.
"You could just file a report on her if her obsession with you has become a nuisance," Hisui pointed out.
Hayate closed his eyes, his shoulders slumping.
"A nuisance *cough*…how I wish it was that simple," Hayate breathed, opening his mocha orbs and meeting viridian head on. "A nuisance would not trail behind you every single time you go to the market or to a restaurant for a meal. A nuisance would not appear at your doorstep just as you were leaving or arriving home. A nuisance would not request to be on every mission that requires a team. A nuisance *cough*…would not go around spreading rumors about a relationship that never was or will be."
As Hayate spoke, his voice grew louder and more frustrated until he had to stop as a cough racked through him.
"Fake or not, I don't share," Hisui finally spoke after Hayate caught his breath.
The raven's face showed just how serious he was regarding the situation. Hayate's eyes widened and his lips parted slightly in surprise.
"Yo-you don't have to do much, only make her believe we're together," Hayate voiced, his expression grateful.
"Shall we start tomorrow then?" Hisui asked, fighting a yawn and the urge to fall asleep standing up.
Hayate winced, his eyes flickering to Hisui's front door and the raven sweat dropped.
"She followed you here," Hisui stated rhetorically and let out a sigh. "Come along then."
Hisui started down the hall towards his bedroom. If they were pretending to be a couple to fool an unhealthy obsession, then Hisui needed sleep.
"Wh-what?" Hayate stuttered, falling into step behind the raven.
"She's watching and I'm exhausted. I'm going to sleep and you might as well join me," Hisui told the blushing brunette, stopping only once he reached his bed. "Vest off, Gekkou."
.:oOo:.
Morning sunlight poured in through the partially closed curtains, washing over Hayate's face. Groaning, the brunette turned his head into his pillow in an effort to go back to sleep. The steady weight across his waist twitched at Hayate's movement and the brunette tensed. Suddenly awake, mocha orbs blinked at the sight of tousled raven locks peeking out from under a dark green duvet. It was then that everything from the previous night came back to him and Hayate flushed brilliantly.
"Ngh, go back to sleep," Hisui quietly ordered, his voice husky from sleep.
Hayate was wide awake. There was no way he was going to be able to fall back asleep, not with the raven's arm curled protectively around his waist or the approaching cough itching at the back of his throat. Hayate held his breathe in hopes the urge to cough would go away. A sigh was his answer and Hisui tugged the duvet off of his head to reveal dark viridian orbs.
"If you have to leave, then go. Uzuki isn't around," Hisui sighed, pulling back his arm and rolling onto his other side.
"Ah, um thank you again, Shizukana-san," Hayate voiced softly. "Sorry for the burden."
A hand shot out and grabbed hold of Hayate's wrist, stopping the brunette from getting up from the bed.
"You're not a burden," Hisui said before releasing his grip on the brunette's wrist.
Giving a shaky nod, Hayate left the raven's room and his apartment altogether. His first destination in mind was his own apartment for a shower and a change of clothes before starting his day.
.:oOo:.
"Good morning, Hayate-kun," Yugao greeted the brunette just as he shut the door to his apartment.
Hayate held back a curse as a chill ran up his spine.
"Uzuki-san, please *cough* don't address me so informally," Hayate told her as he moved to step around the purple haired woman.
"Mou, Hayate-kun, don't be mean," She whined, latching onto his arm.
Hayate carefully jerked away from her hold, even though he wanted nothing more than to be able to slash that grip away with his katana. He had to remind himself that she was a member of Konoha…a comrade.
"Stop it, Uzuki-san. I am in a relationship and my boyfriend would not like how you are acting," Hayate voiced, before covering his mouth to cough.
Painted red lips dipped down in a frown as warm doe brown eyes frosted over.
"There's no need to lie to me, Hayate-kun," Yugao stated, her smile twisting at the corners with something not at all welcoming.
She reached out to grab hold of his arm again only for a more muscular arm to wrapped around the brunette's waist and pull him up against a firm chest.
"Hayate," Hisui greeted before leaning down right in front of a slack-jawed Yugao and closing his mouth over Hayate's slightly parted lips.
Cupping Hayate's face with his free hand, the raven did not hesitate in deepening the kiss. Hisui's tongue brushed up against Hayate's before practically mapping out the brunette's moist cavern. Hayate kissed back, his fingers tightening their grasp on the front of Hisui's black sleeveless form fitting turtleneck. A choked gasp reached through the rushing sound in Hayate's ears and the brunette barely managed to break away from the kiss in order to witness Yugao storming off.
"That should keep her away for a day or two. Bye," Hisui said as if he were not just stealing Hayate's breath away.
The brunette could do nothing as the raven shunshined away with a half-hearted salute. Hayate sighed, running a hand down his face as he struggled to get his racing heartbeat under control.
"I'm doomed."
.:oOo:.
"You're kidding," Genma laughed, his pumpkin skewer forgotten on his plate as he processed his friend's words.
Hayate shook his head, having retold his plan to get Yugao to back off and what had transpired since then.
"I can't believe you actually convinced Shizukana. Haven't you had a crush on him since the Academy?" Genma asked and watched as Hayate's pale complexion flushed the brightest red.
Genma grinned.
"He doesn't know. Hayate, you sly dog," Genma teased, taking a bite of his grilled pumpkin. "If I hadn't experienced Yugao's stalker-like tendencies with you, I would think you made everything up just to get with him."
"Genma-san, I wouldn't!" Hayate voiced, appalled at the very thought of tricking his crush into a relationship. "I honestly need help with what is going on and he is the only one I could think of being in a relationship with *cough*…even if it is a fake one."
"Yeah, yeah, I know. If you hadn't confessed to him back then, there's no way you would now," Genma stated, waving his empty skewer at his teammate from his genin days. "You should just tell him. He's already agreed to be your fake boyfriend. Why not make it genuine?"
Hayate frowned, nibbling on his grilled chicken skewer as he pushed back a sense of sadness.
"He doesn't need some ill person stuck to him. I won't force that on him," Hayate finally spoke, stopping his friend from interrupting him with a look. "I don't care that our relationship is fake. I'll enjoy the time that I spend with him and part on amicable terms once the time comes."
Genma rolled his eyes at this stubborn friend.
"Kami-sama, you idiot," Genma huffed, but left it at that.
.:oOo:.
Hayate had just left the yakitori stand from meeting Genma for lunch when a figure landed lightly on their feet beside the brunette. An arm draped over Hayate's shoulders before a kiss was being pressed chastely against the side of his head. The scent of mint and pine drifted into Hayate's senses and he knew the one beside him to be Hisui. Mocha orbs glanced up at the raven, catching a flicker of amusement in viridian eyes.
"Word has it that I'm a soul sucking incubus out to devour your innocence," Hisui voiced out of nowhere.
Hayate stumbled at the raven's words only for Hisui's grip to steady him.
"I'm so sor—*cough*," Hayate's apology was cut off by a cough that he muffled with a hand, his head turned away from the raven.
Pink dusted the brunette's cheeks in embarrassment.
"She's persistent, I'll give her that much," Hisui whispered against Hayate's ear, his warm breath fluttering over the brunette's skin and causing mocha orbs to widen slightly in surprise at the sensation it caused.
Without looking, Hayate could feel Yugao's chakra on one of the nearby rooftops. Hayate felt like groaning. He just could not catch a break.
"Come on," Hisui said, slipping his arm down from Hayate's shoulders to grab one of his hands.
"Where to?" Hayate asked, keeping in step with the raven.
"Oh, on a nice relaxing walk around the village," Hisui stated nonchalantly. "I do have a reputation to uphold."
Hayate's heart fluttered inside his chest at the teasing grin aimed at him and he absently noted Hisui had dimples when he smiled. The brunette swallowed in an effort to relieve his suddenly dry throat.
.:oOo:.
It took an entire week for the incubus rumors surrounding Konoha's newest couple to morph into an elaborate courtship between forbidden lovers. Hearing that rumor had Hisui laughing softly from his reclined position against one of the trees inside Training Ground 44, aka the Forest of Death. Anko, who had happily informed the raven of the newest rumor, cackled loudly from her perch above him.
"You should have seen Ibiki's face when he heard that ridiculous rumor!" Anko laughed loudly, leaning dangerously over the side of the limb she was on, her grip barely hanging on through her amusement.
"I'm sure he could not wait to mention it in conversation," Hisui stated, not caring in the slightest. "Everyone knows Ibiki is a huge gossip."
"Isn't he though? And Inoichi!" Anko gasped with laughter, hitting her free hand against the bark beneath her. "He may have accidentally started a new rumor."
"Oh?" Hisui sounded questioningly, viridian orbs glancing up at his friend.
Anko sent a sharp smirk his way.
"He said, 'They're shinobi, so of course their relationship is fast paced. It's not like they're expecting or anything'. Now everyone thinks Hayate is PREGNANT!" Anko howled with laughter and she tittered off the edge of her limb.
Hisui chuckled, scratching the side of his face as she continued laughing despite falling out of the tree she was in.
"Nevermind men can't conceive," Hisui muttered, knocking his foot against Anko's as she struggled to breathe, the woman clutching her ribs. "Alright, cut it out."
Anko waved her hand as she fought to speak beyond her laughter and gasps of air.
"And Gekkou, that poor guy is probably running for the hills by now with the way Uzuki reacted to that rumor," Anko voiced, her laughter turning to giggles.
"Hm?"
Anko sat up, smirking widely.
"Yeah, she was like an angry kitten."
Leaves fell around the spot Hisui was just in, the raven having shunshined out of the training ground in search of his fake boyfriend.
.:oOo:.
"Hold still," Yugao hissed with a slash of her sword, the blade striking Hayate's as the brunette blocked the purple haired woman's attack. "I'll cut that parasite from you."
Hayate did not know whether to smack his forehead in exasperation or curse the woman who believed he was actually carrying a child. Men could not conceive children no matter how advanced medicine and jutsu have come.
"Uzuki-san, for the last time, I am not pregnant," Hayate told the woman who continued to charge at him. "Maybe you should *cough* visit Inoichi-san for an examination."
Ninja wire shot out from multiple directions and wrapped around both Yugao and her sword. This prevented the woman from moving even the slightest inch as Hisui landed beside Hayate only for the raven to scoop the brunette up into muscular arms.
"Yugao, leave my lover alone. I'm the jealous type," Hisui spoke while cradling a furiously blushing Hayate close.
"Fight me, Shizukana!" Yugao screamed, one of the razor sharp wires nicking her cheek.
A single raven brow lifted at the woman's demand.
"No," Hisui denied her, his attention drifting to the brunette in his arms.
Hayate appeared more tired than usual, the bags under his mocha orbs darker.
"FIGHT ME FOR HAYATE!"
Viridian orbs were suddenly glaring at the purple haired woman and she actually flinched back from the raven.
"Hayate is not an object to be won, Uzuki. Stay away from him and do not think the Hokage won't hear of this," Hisui sneered, his tone dark.
All it did was have heat pool in Hayate's abdomen and the brunette absently relaxed in the raven's arms. A second later the world around them swirled as Hisui shunshined away.
.:oOo:.
Reappearing in an unused training ground, Hisui set Hayate's feet back on solid ground. Instead of moving away, the brunette turned to face the raven. Hayate still had a grip on the front of Hisui's usual black sleeveless form fitting turtleneck.
"How did you know where I was?" Hayate asked softly, looking up into Hisui's viridian orbs.
"I told you," Hisui said, cupping the back of Hayate's neck. "I don't share."
Mocha orbs fluttered shut at the gentle pressure against his lips, Hayate sighing as the kiss slowly deepened. Hisui wrapped his other arm securely around the brunette's waist, tugging Hayate firmly against him. Hayate trailed his hands up a toned chest and over broad shoulders before tangling his fingers through short raven locks. Slanting his head for a better angle, Hisui moved his hands downward until stopping on firm thighs. Hisui lifted Hayate up, the brunette gasping at the suddenness of the action before Hayate locked his ankles together around the raven's waist.
"Hisui," Hayate sighed breathlessly, the raven's mouth running a burning line of kisses along his jaw and down his neck.
Hisui nipped the pulse point on Hayate's neck before giving the slight sting a soothing lick. Hayate's fingers tightened in Hisui's hair, the brunette unconsciously tilting his head to the side for the raven to have better access. Hayate vaguely felt his back hitting one of the many trees in the training ground, too preoccupied by the feeling of something hard pressing against the inside of his thighs.
"You owe me 50 ryo," A hushed whisper broke through the pleasure clouding Hayate's very being.
He felt Hisui tense up against him and was that a growl? Blinking startled mocha orbs, Hayate gulped as viridian orbs darkened by Hisui's own pleasure shot sharp blades at their unknown audience. A nervous chuckle sounded and Hayate could not help himself as he proceeded in hiding his face against the curve of the raven's broad shoulder.
"Genma, you dumbass, they were about to get it on," Anko's annoyed hissed was heard at the same time as the sound of someone getting punched, most likely that person being Genma.
"Shut up, they'll hear us."
Hayate straightened up at that voice. What was Yugao doing with Anko and Genma? Hisui seemed equally confused, the raven releasing his hold on Hayate enough for the brunette to stand up on his own without the support of the tree behind him. Silence filled the training ground before Genma fell into the opening followed quickly by an innocent looking Anko and a sheepish Yugao.
"Well…this is awkward," Anko voiced, not at all sounding sorry.
"Anko," Hisui spoke the woman's name and some much was heard with that one word.
Anko actually blanched.
"You two were dancing around each other forever. We had to do something," Anko tried to explain herself without giving details.
Viridian orbs narrowed dangerously.
"Genma?" Hayate questioned, unsure if he even wanted to know.
Genma chuckled, scratching the back of his head.
"Uh, congratulations?" Genma said in forced excitement, his body tensed to shunshin away at the first sign of Hisui attacking.
"They made me do it!" Yugao cracked, wincing as she pulled a ninety degree angle only for Anko to punch the back of her head.
"Don't just surrender so easily," Anko hissed in a loud whisper.
"But Shizukana-san is scary," Yugao whispered back.
"You mean…," Hayate trailed off, understanding washing over him and mocha orbs turned nearly black and the brunette trembled with anger.
Feeling the dark aura coming from the usually placid male, Genma, Anko, and Yugao gulped.
"It was their idea," Genma voiced before turning tail and running.
"Get back here you coward!" Hayate shouted, drawing his katana and moving to give chase.
Anko and Yugao followed after Genma and Hayate sighed in annoyance, sheathing his katana. Turning to Hisui, he felt his mouth go dry at the pure lust shining in the raven's viridian orbs.
"My place?" Hisui asked and Hayate quickly agreed.
