Hey everyone, welcome to my first Liv and Maddie fanfic! I'm uploading it on this account as a comeback story. Also because why not.
It's always been a dream of mine to write a fanfic for this show and now I'm making it happen. This story is mostly AU. So, this fanfic's going to be a bit different. How you ask? Well, this one-shot focuses on both Lolden and Miggie. Please Enjoy!
Holden Dippledorf groaned as his phone alarm went off. Even at the age of 23 he hated waking up, it was one of his least favorite activities.
As the man stretched and sat up, he looked at a framed picture on his nightstand, it was of him and Liv in the Central Park zoo. She had booped him with an ice cream and he had done the same to her.
The man beamed at the picture, he loved her, more than anything in the world. He then opened on his nightstand drawers and pulled out a black velvet box. Contained within it was a silver band with a purple stone inside in. The band lay on a bed of black velvet as well. The ring had cost him quite a lot but he did pretty well as an actor. It was also said that you couldn't put a price on true love, although the jeweler at the store took a pretty good shot at it.
Holden then got out of bed, got dressed and went to the kitchen where he saw his roommate Diggie Smalls. The 6'4 man was busy slaving over a pan of bacon.
After high school Diggie had been headhunted by a scout for the Milwaukee Bucks as a new small forward. Eager to become a pro the young man eagerly accepted. The only condition he made was that Maddie would go with him. Considering how valuable Diggie would be, the head coach happily agreed.
Currently Diggie was the Milwaukee Bucks' newest coach and loving every moment of it. The only downside is that since he wasn't an announcer. occasionally he would still introduce people as soon as they entered a room…such as right now.
'' Presenting actor extraordinaire, the man with a plan, Holden Dippledorf!'' Diggie announced.
'' Morning'' Holden said in a calmer voice. He then went over to the coffee maker, made a cup and went to the TV to watch a re-run of American Housewife.
'' So, roomie, what's on today's agenda?'' Diggie asked as he sat next to him on the couch.
'' I have a play at 7 tonight, I play Seymour from Little shop of horrors.''
'' Ooh nice. Who's Liv playing?''
'' Why would you assume Liv was in it?''
'' Maddie told me Liv was, I swear those two talk to each other more than married couples do'' Diggie joked as he went back to his pan and put the pieces of meat on a paper towel.
'' Yeah, marriage'' Holden sighed.
'' Oh my God you're planning on proposing'' Diggie said startled.
'' Where'd you get that idea from?''
'' No-one sighs dreamily about marriage unless they plan on proposing. You and Liv have been dating for years now, its about time you tied the knot.''
'' But what if she says no?''
'' She won't, and I'll help you'' Diggie said confidently.
'' Really? How?''
Diggie chuckled and threw a white box and his friend, of course the box hit him in the face and left a mark of his forehead where it had struck him.
'' Ow, what's this?'' Holden asked, rubbing his head.
'' Open it.''
Holden obeyed and opened the box to see a gold band with a light blue stone in it. The band was surrounded by a bed of soft light blue material on the inside.
'' So looks like I'm not the only one proposing?' Holden smirked.
'' Hey, I've wanted to do this for years now. And now's my chance!'' Diggie announced dramatically.
'' Ok so how's this little plan of yours going to work?'' Holden asked.
'' Well, here's step 1. We make a double date to go out for dinner before yours and Liv's play tonight. Step 2 after the play we propose to them at the same time. Step 3 we get married, step 4, kids.''
'' Let's focus on steps 1 and 2 first, steps 3 and 4 only happen if they say yes'' Holden said.
'' Well then that's what we do. Good luck dear sir'' Diggie shook Holden's hand.
'' And to you good sir'' Holden replied.

'' Liv cut it out!'' came loud voice.
'' Wow, someone's grumpy.''
'' Sorry, but its really not fun to wake up to your sister blasting music at the crack of dawn.''
'' Maddie, its 8AM, most people are up.''
'' Yeah, well most people don't have basketball games once a week.''
'' I guess so. So, what's up?'' Liv asked.
'' Well, Diggie just called, he wants to go out on a double date tonight before your play.''
'' Ooh, who with?'
'' You and Holden? Who else?''
'' I don't know, mom and dad, Val and Parker, Joey and Willow, Artie and Svetlana-
'' Ok there were other options, point is, you two are the chosen ones.''
'' Ooh, do you think one of them'll propose tonight'' Liv squealed.
'' I don't know, Diggie has been acting weird lately'' Maddie shrugged.
'' Huh. So's Holden.''
'' Liv we might be getting proposed to tonight'' Maddie said.
'' I know, but let's face it, there aren't any other guys in the world we'd want to be with'' Liv sighed as she looked at a picture of her and Holden on her wall.

Later that night the two couples met at a family style restaurant called Porter's.
It was relatively new in Steven's Point. It had only opened a month ago. The architecture seemed Spanish, with red roof tiles and a pale yellowish-white paint job.
The interior was relatively modern with mahogany chairs and tables, pictures of conquistadors and Spanish streets adorned the walls, making the restaurant seem pseudo-Spanish in nature.
The food was varied, the restaurant didn't specialise in just one type of food, they did a variety, ranging from Italian, to seafood, to steak and other various dishes.
'' Where are they'' Holden asked as he stood outside the restaurant, his foot tapping.
'' Chill dude. Liv's diving and we know how she is about punctuality'' Diggie joked.
'' Yeah, she'd probably stop to check herself out in a mirror a few times'' Holden added.
'' Oh, would I?'' came a voice from behind him.
'' Liv! Jeez you move like a cat'' Holden gasped, his heart racing.
'' Yeah, I convinced her to not wear high heels tonight'' Maddie added.
'' So, shall we go inside. I hear these guys do a great burger'' Diggie said, trying to avoid any form of silence.
'' Sure'' Liv frowned. She really didn't like how Holden had been mean to her earlier, even if he didn't mean to be.
As the quartet made their way to a booth, they were greeted by a waiter who seemed to have a penchant for theatrics. This was evident by his handlebar moustache, suit and the fact that he literally tried to slide towards them.
'' Ciao, my a-names Luigi and I will a-be your waiter. So what can I a get you?''
'' Hi, can I get a glass of port?'' Liv asked.
'' Of a-course. And a for you?'' Luigi asked Maddie.
'' I'm fine with a diet coke please'' she said.
'' Ah, a lovely choice and you a two gentlemen?''
'' Two Heinekens please'' Holden said.
'' Perfecto. Anything to eat?''
'' Hold on I got this… Greek salad, extra olives'' Holden said as he ordered for Liv.
'' I can order for myself Holden'' Liv said.
'' Sorry.''
'' Can we get two t-bone steaks medium rare and barbeque basted?'' Diggie asked.
'' Both a for you?'' Luigi asked.
'' No, one's for my girlfriend.''
'' Ah, I should've a known. So will the lady still a be having the salad?'' he asked.
'' Sure'' Liv said.
'' And I'll have the Regina pizza'' Holden said, handing the waitron the menu.
'' Splendid, I'll be back with your things'' Luigi said as he dashed away.
'' So you guys excited for your first performance back in Wisconsin?'' Diggie asked.
'' Yeah. I've never played Seymour before, or for that matter acted in Little shop of horrors'' Holden said.
'' How about you Liv, you ready to play Audrey?'' Maddie asked.
'' Yep. After all I can do more than be vain and late'' Liv said, glaring at her boyfriend.
'' Can I talk to you outside?'' Holden asked Liv.
'' Yeah sure'' Liv said depressed.
As the couple walked away, Diggie dug in his pocket.
''Maddie, there's something I want to ask you'' he said.
'' Sure, what's up?''
'' Look I've known you for a while. I've also loved you for as long as I can remember. You're kind, gorgeous, smart, funny and you have the ferocity of tiger on coke. Maddison Claire Rooney, will you marry me?''
Maddie gasped. She had sort of been expecting this but she never thought she'd feel as happy as she was right now. Her next sentence would be one she would forever remember.
'' Oh my God yes'' she said, tears filling her eyes.
Whilst this was going on, Holden was busy talking to Liv.
'' Ok you've been ghosting me all night, did I do something?''
'' No, you just insulted me'' Liv said sarcastically.
'' I was joking, do you really think I could actually have something bad to say about the woman I love?'' he asked.
'' No, I guess not.''
'' Good. Now come on back inside, if we leave those two there for two long, they'll devour those steaks like they're ravenous wolves'' Holden joked.
'' Ha-ha. See that was funny'' Liv said.
'' Hey guys'' Maddie said as she downed her coke.
'' Hey, what did we miss?''
'' Oh, nothing really, just…this'' Maddie held up her right hand. I'm engaged now, bam, what?!''
'' Diggie man, you asked her?'' Holden asked.
'' Hey, I'm just glad she said yes'' Diggie laughed.
Liv smiled. She was happy for Maddie, but she also wished that Holden would propose to her soon too.

'' This is awesome'' Diggie whispered to Maddie. '' A free play, being here with you, watching a giant plant, what could be better?''
'' I know, its so awesome to be here. Now shush, Liv's going on stage again.''
Liv came onto stage and looked at Holden. He looks so handsome, even with big glasses on.
'' Audrey, you're very nice person, I always knew you were. Underneath all the bruises you know what I saw? A girl I respected. I still do'' Holden said to Liv.
He then sat next to Liv and the prop she was on and began to sing.
'' Lift up your head wash off your mascara, here take my Kleenex wipe that lipstick away show me your face, clean at the morning I know things were bad but now they're ok. Suddenly Seymour, is here to provide you sweet understanding Seymour's your friend''
Liv began to sing. '' Nobody ever, treated me kindly, daddy left early and mama was poor I'd met a man and I'd follow him blindly he'd snap his fingers and me, I'd say sure.
The two then began to sing together. '' Suddenly Seymour he purified me suddenly Seymour showed me I can.
Holden topped at let Liv continue. '' Learn how to be more, the girl that's inside me.''
The two then sang together. '' with sweet understanding, with sweet understanding, with sweet understanding , with sweet understanding, with sweet understanding, Seymour's your man!''
The crowd burst into thunderous applause, none louder than Diggie and Maddie's though.
Once the play had finished, Holden met Liv by her changing room.
'' Hey'' he said to her.
'' Hi. You were a great Seymour.''
'' Thanks, and you were a fantastic Audrey. You know I realized something.''
'' And that would be?''
'' The pair never got to live happily ever after'' Holden said.
'' Yeah, that's the story, what're you getting at?''
''' Shut your eyes'' Holden instructed.
'' Liv did that but she wasn't sure why.''
'' Open 'em'' Holden said.
Liv opened her eyes and out her hands over her mouth.
Holden was on one knee with a box in his hand. '' Olivia Theodora Rooney, will you marry me?''
'' Yes, yes, A billion time yes'' Liv said as she jumped on him.
Despite a potentially cracked rib, Holden had never felt better than he did right then and now.
'' I's about time'' MAddie applauded.
Getting up Holden and Liv looked shocked. How did those two get backstage?
'' How did you-
'' Get backstage. Funny thing, when you tell people you're Diggie Smalls, miraculously they let you do anything'' Diggie smirked.
'' Guess so. Also wasn't the plan to propose to both of the girls after the play?" Holden asked.
'' Oh that, yeah I lied'' Diggie said.
'' What?!'' Holden said.
'' I was going to propose to Maddie, that part was true, but the whole double proposal was a lie.''
'' Why would you lie to your best friend?'' Maddie asked, clearly agitated.
'' Because he was so terrified of Liv saying no. I wanted those two to get engaged, they belong together, I wasn't about to let anxiety get the better of Holden. So, I lied. I'm a coach, I know how to get the best out of my players'' DIggie explained.
Holden embraced Diggie in a hug. '' Man, you rock.''
