"Next video next video next video next video next video next video-" Caboose chanted in a robotic fashion.
"He should be coming on any second now." Wash tried calming him down. The previous day Blitz had told them when to expect the next broadcast, as he seemed alarmed when he found out Wash was going to camp through the night to keep an eye on it. "Five minutes left."
"Oooh, I'm gonna get the popcorn!" Caboose dashed into the kitchen, and nearly knocked over Grif, who was stuffing himself with food.
"Uh, Grif, you mind not eating all our shit?" Tucker asked.
"Uh, Tucker, could you not prevent me from living my lifestyle?" Grif shot back.
"Hey Simmons," Wash turned to the cyborg. "Have any luck with the monitor?" The previous day Wash had asked Simmons to see if he could pull a signal from the TV. After having found Lopez's head in a closet at the Red's building, Simmons used it to try and determine which direction the monitor was receiving a signal, much to Lopez's discontent.
"Nope. It appears that, although it's exterior is reminiscent of an antique 20th century CRT television, the equipment inside has been upgraded to a point where the signal is untraceable, or it's just alien technology and we have no way of intercepting the waves it's emitting."
"Well great." Wash's alarm beeped. "Hey, guys! Show's starting!" Caboose came back with the popcorn, as promised, with Tucker trailing behind, eating a fistful of said popcorn. They watched eagerly as the screen flickered on.
~~GOOD MORNING NATION OF CHORUS!~~ A new and unfamiliar voice screeched through the speaker.
"Shut it up!" Tucker yelled.
~~OH SORRY, I HAVE SPEAKER MODE TURNED ON. GIMME A SECOND~~ The person quickly apologized. ~~Sorry. This better?~~
"Yeah. Wait a minute-" Now that they weren't temporarily deaf, they could distinctly hear a female tone speaking from the other side. Tucker, being the former Doctor of Love, picked up on this immediately. "Yo girl, you fillin' in for the guy?"
~~Aight, listen up assholes.~~ Completely switching tones, she continued. She had long, dark brown hair with lightish blue tips tied up in a ponytail at the back of her head, slightly tan skin, and piercing blue eyes that seemed to almost glow in the darkness of her room. ~~He's taking a vacation and I gotta take his place. If you dicks give me a headache, I'll fly over to your trash ball of a planet and kick your ass.~~
"Oh god, first Tex gets back and now we get this gal." Grif laughed weakly. "Hopefully you don't have an obsession with my balls too…"
~~WHY THE FUCK-~~ She swelled up in rage, and had to take a few deep breaths to calm down. ~~Anyways, if y'all got any questions you can just ask me, and you can call me Light. Video staaaaaarts now!~~
I know how to fix all o' this. How to end it once and for all. It was so simple all along. I just had to tell you three words. Three words I wasn't capable of telling you before. The ground shook as the mountains in the distance slowly pulled apart. She had known him for who knows how long, but it still took a minute to comprehend what he just said.
Oh, okay, wait a minute... are you gonna say "I love you?"
No Tex, no, I'm not gonna say I love you. I'm gonna say I forget you.
Tex woke up in a cold sweat. Those goddamn three words! What do they mean? She tried raising a hand to wipe away some sweat and found she was tied to a chair. Oh right.
The thing that had pulled them down the sewer was indeed a gigantic magnet thing, although not in the way a normal magnet works. However, they didn't smash into a hard, metallic block, they were directed towards people. Maine had crashed into a light-haired school-age girl and was nearly stabbed by a knife she was carrying. Tex instead smacked into a wall, as the person she was magnetized to barely managed to dodge out of the way.
The impact of the crash almost knocked everyone involved out, but Tex and Maine, being veteran soldiers (mentally at least) recovered quickly. Right before they could take out the unknown person on the ground, they could feel their bodies compacting, until they were the size of mere marbles. In this form they couldn't move, and certainly couldn't put up a fight.
"Good job Mr. Compress!" A person holding a long cloth column stepped into their distorted field of view. "I didn't think you would be able to dodge her."
"A master escape artist isn't so easily defeated. Dear Toga-chan, are you alright?" A tophatted fellow stepped out of the shadows, and leaned over the school girl Maine had almost knocked out.
"Why do I always have to be the target…" She groaned.
"If I could magnetize myself I certainly would!" The first person laughed.
"Say, Magne-kun-" Tophat started.
"Magne-chan." Magne corrected.
"Magne-chan, is that All-Might down there?"
"Oh my, it is! We should go. Spinner!" Magne called. Tex could hear a motorboat quietly shuttle it's way near.
"Get on the boat." Someone said gruffly.
Living on the run wasn't always fun. Carolina had years of experience doing that. But she had lived through those years in isolation, without anyone to lean on. Now that she had York, as well as a new world to explore, she was enjoying herself. She had rarely strayed further than a few miles from where she lived and the gym where she worked at, but now she could walk through the entire city. Of course, with the police back on the hunt, they couldn't sit still for very long. They brought enough rations for a few days, and enjoyed their newfound freedom.
In her free time, Carolina tried forcefully activating the time-slow. She found she could trigger it under intense concentration, but it would only last for a few seconds.
"Did you see what happened to Tex?" Church blared in York's ear.
"For the millionth time, no." York groaned.
"Ah goddammit! The one time we're located on the same planet, she gets abducted! Again! What. The. Fuck." Church complained loudly.
"What do you mean by again?" York questioned.
"Oh boy, do I have a story for you. I got told it in 5 minute intervals, so you better grab a chair."
"Yo Maine, you awake?" Tex asked quietly.
"Yes." They had been sitting in the darkened room for a few hours now.
"You feeling up for a-" At that moment, the door flew open, flooding the room with light. A black and white-clad figure stepped through the doorway.
"Hey hey hey! Pleasure to meet you and-" He first spoke in a light hearted tone, before switching to a darker one. "I would enjoy tearing you apart limb by limb."
"Huh?"
"Twice! Show some hospitality to our guests, will you?" The person wielding the magnet leaned into the room, revealing pink tinted shades and red hair.
"Out of the way." A third person strided in. His general aura was creepy. He had pale, sickly skin, and preserved hands covering his face, neck, and other areas of his body, as well as lightish blue hair. Both ex-Freelancers barely batted an eye, but warned themselves to be wary of him. "Join me." He said simply.
"Why?" Tex asked.
"I need soldiers to topple this world. Loyal lieutenants that will follow me. I can offer you a home and food. If you refuse..." He set his hand on a nearby table, and it disintegrated into dust.
"Alright alright." Tex said hastily. "Maine, you good with this?"
"It's not like we have a choice." He said glumly. Magne walked over and cut the ropes binding them. "Who exactly are you?"
"I am the one who will reshape this society." He glared at them. "Magne, tell them about the upcoming raid. I'm sure they'll be a big help."
Tex and Maine glanced at each other. They both knew they had just signed a deal with the devil.
Few days later
"Are you familiar with the plan? This is only going to be a simple excursion, so only the newbies are going." Magne retold them. "However, since you're higher up newbies, you'll stay back with Shigaraki and follow his direct orders."
"We're still the newbies. Alright alright."
"The raid is today, so get ready, okay?" Magne said kindly. Tex and Maine had learned that they were currently working for the group known as the League of Villains, which meant they were summarily villains themselves. They were targeting a training facility for the heroes and their objective was to cause as much chaos as possible. Maine and Tex both had their feeling towards such an operation, and neither wanted to be villains, but they had no other choice. If they defected, Shigaraki would probably kill them, or at least make life as difficult as possible.
They were directed to an abandoned storage facility early in the morning, and found it already crowded with low level villains. Shigaraki and two other villains, one shrouded in purple mist and another being a brute even larger than Maine.
"Your Brute Shot loaded?" Tex reminded Maine. He nodded slowly.
"League of Villains! Today, we will overturn society and forge a new path for ourselves!" Shigaraki cried at the top of a container. The crowd whooped, and portals opened in front of them. As they walked through, they were introduced to a relatively pleasant scenery that reminded them of an amusement park. The low tier villains dashed out towards a group of people standing at the top of a tall set of stairs. As they were told to do, Maine and Tex stayed back with Shigaraki and the other two.
"You, tall guy." Shigaraki pointed at Maine, more specifically the Brute Shot. "What does that do?"
"Type-25 Grenade Launcher, shoots high explosive grenades up to hundreds of yards with pinpoint accuracy." Maine rattled off.
"Fire at the group up there." Shigaraki pointed. Maine shrugged, and fired off a quick volley of 5 grenades. Before they could explode, they were dragged off course and consumed by a miniature black hole that appeared out of nowhere. "Interesting...13 is here. Kurogiri, you should be careful."
The shadowy figure bowed his head. "Indeed, Shigaraki." As they watched the battle below ensue, they saw a single pro hero carving up entire squads of villains.
"You, the one in black. Take care of Eraserhead." Shigaraki ordered Tex. "We get serious. Now." Tex dashed in, and nearly landed a flying kick on Eraserhead's "head" (haha), but he managed to rappel out using a long scarf tied around his neck.
Who is this? Their armor is similar to the one in blue, but their fighting style is completely off. And the tan one isn't here either… Eraserhead dodged a flurry of punches delivered by Tex, and tried wrapping his scarf around her. She jumped right before the scarf tightened, and spun in the air to try and land an insanely fast axe kick. The sheer speed generated a small whirlwind, slightly disorienting Eraserhead, allowing the kick to go through and nail directly on his shoulder. The blow dislocated the arm, almost ripping it off, and he staggered back. He popped the joint back into his shoulder and fought off the immense pain.
Eraserhead focused his quirk, Erasure, onto Tex. However, nothing happened, and she continued going on the offensive. So she's using raw strength… Aizawa dodged beneath a punch and elbowed her hard in the gut, hoping to regain the momentum of battle. However, he hit a little bit too high and hit the armored torso instead, damaging his elbow. He winced, before backing out. I can't find an opening… Using Eraserhead's focus on Tex, the brute villain snuck up behind him and snapped his arm, effectively ending the fight.
"Kurogiri, disable 13 will you? She might get in the way of my plans…" Shigaraki asked the misty villain.
"Yes, Shigaraki." Kurogiri bowed his head, and warped out. Actually, the only thing Maine saw move in the black shadow were his glowing eyes, but he assumed it was a bow.
"You in white. Fire off another volley." Maine obeyed, but like before, the shells were sucked up. However, this allowed Kurogiri to sneak into the group without trouble and prepare a plan. 13, seeing Kurogiri materialize behind her, tried obliterating him with her quirk, Black Hole, but Kurogiri counted, using his warp to open a portal in front of the black hole and behind 13, effectively redirecting the attack back onto its user.
Slipping past Kurogiri, Iida made a mad dash towards the exit, hoping to find pro heroes to assist the battle. Kurogiri noticed him make a rune for it, but Iida's head start, as well as the help of some of his classmates, allowed him to get away. Outside he passed Carolina and York camping in an alleyway.
"Hey...isn't that unauthorized use of a quirk?" York pointed out.
"Actually, I scanned the guy's face as he ran by and he's a student at the local hero school." Church said. "I know, I know, I'm pretty quick on the draw, right?"
"Well he's probably out training. Ain't our problem." Carolina leaned on the wall. It looked like a boring day for once.
Since 13 was out of the fight, there was nothing between Maine's grenades and the group of people. Shoji dragged 13 under the relative safety of a rock outcrop, and the rest of the group huddled under cover of various degrees of safety. However, they had two things playing in their favor. One, Kurogiri had pulled back to Shigaraki to avoid the hail of grenades and under the fact that he completed his task. Two, Maine wasn't aiming to kill. He felt his conscious nagging at him. Aren't I attacking the good guys? I don't want to be the villain again… His shells landed in areas where the students of UA were nowhere near, giving off the illusion of actually doing something, while nothing was accomplished in reality.
Maine heard something patter behind him and whipped around. He saw two students in the water close by, both bearing green hair. What the fuck? I've seen some crazy hairstyles, but not bright green. He also saw some bubbles next to the female student, and her hand stuck underwater.
"What is it?" Shigaraki asked before turning around as well. "Ahh, you have good senses. Well, why don't we just leave a few kids dead? To wound the pride of the Symbol of Peace!" Maine stood shocked. He expected Shigaraki to do some messed up things, but not to the extent to kill children. He reminded himself that there were no limits to evil.
Another form blazed past Carolina and York.
"Church, you pick that guy up?" Carolina asked her A.I.
"Uhhh…"
"I did." Delta filled in for Church. "That was All Might, the No.1 and the Symbol of Peace."
"isn't he the guy that cornered us in the sewer?" York realized.
"Indeed he is."
"And he's going to where that student guy just left?"
"It appears so."
"Well that can't be good." Carolina checked her weapons and gear. "There could be an accident. Let's go check it out."
The doors to the training facility burst open, and a tall figure stood, silhouetted by the sun.
"Fear not. I am here." All Might boomed. He leapt the stairway in one bound, and in two more picked up an unconscious Eraserhead and three students Shigaraki was about to kill. He threw a few punches at a few villains who were standing near Eraserhead, including Tex, and only Tex was able to dodge the rapid strikes.
"Nomu…" Shigaraki breathed at the brutish villain. "Your prey is here. It's hunting season now."
"Carolina-" All Might struck first, bounding towards the Nomu, before hitting it with an X-shaped slash with his hands. "Smash!"
"Did someone just call you?" York asked. "I swear I heard someone yell Carolina."
"Yeah…" Carolina replied as they jogged towards a pillar of smoke rising through the sky.
"No effect-" All Might stuttered, before dodging a grapple by the Nomu. He traded a few blows, before managing to get behind the bird-villain and landing a suplex that sent a gush of concrete into the air. However, when the dust cleared, they could see the lower half of the Nomu leaning backwards into a portal, while the upper half had a death grip on All Might's sides. As Kurogiri prepared to slice All Might in two using his warp gate, he was distracted by a flaming fist heading towards his face at mach speeds. The attack was blocked by Maine using his Brute Shot as a shield, but the clash made an audible gong that was felt by everyone in a mile radius. As Maine squared against the new threat, he heard a familiar, irritated voice yelling at him.
"Maine! What the fuck do you think you're doing?" An electric prod wielding angry red head screamed.
"Are you cutting it off here?" Tucker shouted as the monitor shut off. "You've got to be fucking kidding me! We finally have a chance to see Carolina fight Tex, and you postpone till tomorrow!"
~~Hehe, just deal with it. Anyways, you guys might want to get ready. Something big is about to happen.~~
"Of course something big is about to happen. We're gonna get Carolina vs Tex!" Grif said.
~~I mean in your world.~~ A little ball of glowing blue substance suddenly appeared in the palm of Light's hand. She slowly closed her fist until it started to crack, and then it shattered. ~~Something like that, y'know. Dramatic and all. You guys got... lemme check…
Six days left. Time waits for no one.
By the way, the kid behind the black guy is hugging his rifle. Is that normal?~~
"Do I really have to go?" Blitz complained. "I just got my break, and now you're telling me to go to Earth? Why can't your cousin go? Why can't Enigma go?"
"Nox's going after me, and he's still busy. God, he hasn't slept for almost a week now. He's totally gonna creep those guys out." Light grinned. "Anyways, get your ass on the ship. It's gonna take a while to get to Earth.
