Being in a band is a tough career, but Natsu and his friends don't really care. They're just glad they're playing music and they've done surprisingly well for their small band. They've posted some videos before and now it's really gotten to the point where it's like they're really famous. It's fun and all, but they still got regular school.
"Argh!" Natsu said as he was complaining about his homework. "This is so stupid. I'm already in a band that's doing well. Why do I need to do this homework?"
"So that when you and your friends want to pursue some other career in your lives, you'll have an education." Mrs. Dragneel said. "You don't think your band is going to last forever, do you?"
"No, but I'm more for living in the moment." Natsu said. As Natsu was still working on his homework, his older brother came walking in their apartment carrying a box.
"Hey, Natsu. I got a few of that stuff you asked for, for you next concert." Zeref said.
"Thanks, bro." Natsu said.
"You're performing again? Where?" Mrs. Dragneel asked.
"We actually got a gig at the prom." Natsu said. "They're letting us perform there."
"At the prom? That's already coming up?" Zeref said. "Are you sure you're going to be able to perform?"
"Yeah. Why wouldn't we?" Natsu asked.
"It's just that Erza and Lucy might want to go to the prom and dance." Zeref said.
"Well, they don't have dates. They would much rather perform than dance." Natsu said. "A few guys tried, but Lucy turned them down and others were scared of Erza."
"Erza, I can understand, but Lucy might have another reason. Maybe she wants to go with you?" Zeref said.
"Really?" Natsu said and he really liked the idea. They live in sunny California and Natsu's own skies seem to be getting sunny as well.

Lucy
Lucy was on her way to school. Natsu was hoping Zeref was right and Lucy would want to go to prom with him as his date. The thought of that made him run faster and he was able to catch her.
"Lucy!" Natsu called and got her attention.
"Oh, hey!" Lucy said as Natsu caught up to her. "You excited to perform at prom? It's only about a week away."
"Yeah. It's going to be a night to remember." Natsu said. "After all, who can say they actually performed at their own prom. So have any guys tried to ask you?"
"A couple asked me to at least save them a dance, but I don't think I'll be able to." Lucy said. "If I go as someone's date, I won't be able to perform and I much rather would." As the two of them kept talking, they were able to make it to their high school. "I'm just excited that it's going to be a fun night. I'll see you after class."
"Lucy, wait." Natsu said and went for it. "I know prom is coming close, but if you would like to I could..." "Hey, guys!" They looked to see Levy showing up.
"Hey, Levy." Both of them said.
"Did you guys see this?" Levy said as she pointed to a poster of some girl running for prom queen.
"Vote for Talia Tanya? Even Fairy Tale calls her a queen?" Natsu said. "Talia? That diva? She's using us to promote herself?"
"Apparently. I want it on the record that I did not approve of this." Levy said.
"You know how Talia is. She's always trying to make herself look better because she thinks she was born a star." Lucy said. "Speaking of the chestnut airhead..." The three of them saw Talia, a junior with chestnut-colored hair, walked up to them.
"Hi, Lucy." Talia said.
"Hi..." Lucy said with almost no emotion.
"Hell. We're here too." Natsu said, but Talia just ignored the others.
"I'm glad I run into you. I need your help with something." Talia said. "Jordan Clark is going to be here any minute. I need you to help me convince him that he should take me to prom."
"Excuse me?" Lucy said.
"Jordan Clark?" Natsu said.
"Our school's quarterback and who is considered the most popular guy at school." Levy said. "Since Lucy is in our band and just as popular, Talia is probably hoping Lucy's status will help convince Jordan to go out with her." Natsu is failing to see the logic in that, but he has trouble understanding high school girls.
"Here he comes." Talia said as they saw the school jock coming up to them, bright highlights and all. "Hi, Jordan."
"Hey." Jordan said as he just blew her off, but noticed Lucy. "Hey, Lucy."
"Hi." Lucy said.
"I'm glad I caught you. Would you like to go to prom with me?" Jordan said.
"Me?" Lucy asked.
"Her?" Talia said. She and Natsu really didn't like this.
"I don't know. I'm actually performing." Lucy said.
"Come on. Every girl dreams of going to prom." Jordan said.
"Lucy, go with him." Natsu said.
"What?" Lucy said.
"What?" Levy said as neither of them were sure why Natsu said that.
"It's prom. He's the most popular guy, apparently." Natsu said.
"Cool. I'll pick you up at six." Jordan said as he went into the school.
"That did not just happen! Way to have my back! I'm the only that deserves to go with him!" Talia said as she stormed right into the building.
"What's wrong with you?!" Lucy said as she smacked Natsu in the arm.
"Ow!" Natsu said. Lucy seemed upset with him and walked into the school.
"What did I do?" Natsu questioned.
"You practically said yes for her when she didn't want to. She was just being nice about it." Levy said. "That guy might be popular, but he's obnoxious. Lucy doesn't want to go with someone like that. Not to mention if she has a date to prom, it's going to be hard for her to perform with the rest of the band. What were you trying to do there?"
"I was just thinking of her. It sounded like a good deal for her." Natsu said. "By the way, what the heck was with his hair? He looked like some sort of freaky tiger."
"Highlights. You get them at a beauty salon." Levy said.
"Beauty salon?!" Natsu said as he found that laughable. "This guy goes to a beauty salon?" At least Natsu found some enjoyment in this.

Fairy Tale Studio
Fairy Tale has their own place where they can record their songs, rehearse, and much more. The rest of the band was there. Erza was working on her base when Gray and Gajeel came in.
"Hey, Erza." Gray said.
"I need your opinion." Gajeel said as he put on a pair of shades and held up two more. "What pair of shades do you think I should wear or shouldn't wear when we perform at the prom?"
"Don't wear the tacky ones." Erza said.
"Which one are the tacky ones?" Gajeel asked.
"All three of them." Erza said. That had Gajeel rethink his whole wardrobe. "By the way, did you two see those posters Talia has been putting up. Who does she think she is using us to promote herself all for some stupid prom queen crown?"
"Tell me about it. I don't think that crown is big enough to fit around her massive ego." Gray said as the three of them had a laugh. They heard the door open up and saw Natsu and Levy walk in.
"Hey!" Erza said. "Where's Lucy? I thought she was going to come in with you guys."
"Thanks to Natsu, she's doing dress shopping. She was going to need one for your performance in the first place." Levy said. "He managed to get her a date to the prom."
"What?" Gajeel said. "I thought we all agreed not to get dates so we could focus on our little show. What the heck man?"
"Seriously, you moron. What were you thinking? We need Lucy up there with us." Gray said.
"I thought I was helping her out. It sounded like she had a chance to go with a great guy. I didn't want to ruin that for her." Natsu said.
"You sure you're in love with her?" Gajeel said.
"I'm not in love!" Natsu said as he tried to hide how he really felt. That was when Lucy came walking in, but she still didn't look happy. "Hey, Luce! Did you find a dress?"
"Yeah..." Lucy said, but didn't sound happy either.
"Somebody's still mad." Levy whispered and Natsu knew it was with him.
"Lucy, listen. About earlier, I was... I was just trying to help." Natsu said.
"Help? Help with what?" Lucy said.
"You know... I... It was prom so..." Natsu was trying to come up with a good excuse, but being around Lucy, it's almost like his brain stops working.
"Whatever. Can we just rehearse? Thanks to the matchmaker here, I might only perform one song if I'm lucky." Lucy said. Lucy is upset and Natsu feels like an idiot because of this.
...
The Next Day
Natsu was still beating himself up over the whole thing with Lucy. As the rest of his family was eating breakfast, Natsu was wondering how things got out of hand.
"Something wrong, Natsu?" Mr. Dragneel asked.
"He's having girl problems." Zeref said.
"because of you! You told me that Lucy might wanted me to be her prom date!" Natsu said. "If we had done that, we would have still been able to perform, all of us."
"I didn't tell you to hook her up with some other guy." Zeref said.
"Natsu, it sound like Lucy is upset because you made a decision for her." Mrs. Dragneel said. "Girls don't like it when people do that. Especially if it's with someone they don't really want to go out with."
"Come on. The guy that asked her is the school's quarterback. Not to mention he's considered the most popular guy at school." Natsu said.
"Oh! You must mean Jordan Clark!" Mr. Dragneel said. Everyone looked at him confused as to how he would know that. "What? I'm weird because I like to follow the school's football team?"
"You should just talk to Lucy and try to explain yourself. If she doesn't really want to go, she might still be able to get out of this." Mrs. Dragneel said.
"I doubt it." Natsu said as he finished breakfast. "I need to get to rehearsal." Natsu grabbed his guitar and was on his way. He just hopes that he can fix things with Lucy soon.

Fairy Tale Studio
Rehearsal isn't the only thing that is being worked on at the studio. Gajeel was working on something with a bucket as he poured in water and some rotten milk. He took a sniff inside and felt sick.
"It's getting there." Gajeel said as he stirred it up. Gray came in and he felt a little sick from the smell himself.
"What the heck are you doing?" Gray asked.
"It's for Talia, that stuck-up prima donna." Gajeel said. "I think it's time someone teaches her thing or two. I think a harmless prank might help with that."
"Dude, you can't pour that over her." Gray said and Gajeel was disappointed. "You need something sticky and will make a real mess. Maybe add something like tuna salad or maybe a tuna casserole." Gajeel liked the sound of that. "Quick, try to hide it. The others are coming." The two of them hurried and hid the stuff as the others came in.
"What are you two planning?" Erza said.
"What? What do you mean?" Gajeel said as he and Gray tried to act innocent. "Any word from Lucy on performing?"
"Not yet." Erza said.
"She's not even going to make it to rehearsal." Levy said.
"What? Why not?" Natsu asked.
"She's helping in decorating the prom." Levy said.
"What? You've got to be kidding me." Natsu said. "She's blowing off rehearsal just so she could decorate for prom?"
"She's got to. She says she's got to put in the hours or she can't go. Seeing as how she's going as someone's date and might not be able to perform, she's got to do it." Lucy said. "She already agreed to be Wade's date and since she can't get out of it, it's practically out of her hands." Natsu couldn't believe this was happening.
"I'll be back." Natsu said as he just walked out of there.
"What's with him?" Erza questioned.
"It's simple. He's a fool in love and doing stupid things." Levy said.
...
The High School
Natsu was upset enough that Lucy was upset with him, but now he's upset that she's blowing off rehearsal like this. He might be upset that he let this whole thing happen, but he prefers to be in denial. Natsu ran right into the gym that was being used for the prom with Lucy painting the sign.
"There you are." Natsu said. "It's bad enough that you can't perform, but now you're blowing off rehearsal just so you can decorate for this stupid prom?"
"I'm blowing off rehearsal for this stupid prom because I have to help with these stupid decorations because I'm going as Jordan's stupid date." Lucy said. "Seeing as how I won't be able to perform our stupid show, I don't have much of a choice thanks to you being stupid."
"So this is all my fault?" Natsu said.
"It is since you were the one that said yes for me when I didn't really want to go." Lucy said. "So why are you getting all upset? Isn't this what you wanted for me?"
"Well, no... I thought I..." Natsu groaned as this whole thing got out of hand. He thought he was helping Lucy out and now it's all just blowing up in his face.
"I am going to kill both of you!" Talia shouted as she entered the gym.
"Oh no. Now what?" Natsu said as he turned to her. He was in no mood for this.
"I've been trying all day to get Jordan to go to prom with me, but now he won't because of you two." Talia said. "Thanks a lot. Lucy, you were suppose to help me convince him to take me. Thanks to you, Natsu, he's more convinced since you told both of them to do it."
"How is this happening?" Natsu said as things just keep getting more out of hand.
"You're coming with me as my date to prom." Talia said and helped with decorations.
"What?" Natsu said as he didn't like that one bit. "Why would I do that? Why would you want to go with me?"
"Since I can't go with the school star, I'll have to settle with rock star." Talia said. "If I go to prom with you, my chances of being prom queen will go up, especially since your band supports me for that."
"No we don't and I'm not going with you." Natsu said.
"Too bad. I'm not giving you a choice." Talia said.
"It's official. You're crazy!" Natsu said.
"You're really going to ruin what could be the best night ever for a girl who wants to go with someone so popular?" Lucy said as she had some enjoyment out of this. This is just getting out of hand. Natsu just walked right out of there and knocked one of Talia's posters off the wall.

Natsu stormed right back in and now there are two members of the band that aren't happy.
"Hey. What happened with Lucy?" Erza asked.
"Forget her. We'll just rehearse without her. Gray can just cover for her." Natsu said as he grabbed his guitar. "Unlike Lucy, I'm serious about this band and not some stupid prom." Natsu just isn't making sense, but they went with it. Natsu originally wrote this song for Lucy, but now he doesn't even know what to think.
