A/N: Okay everyone! This is the last chapter of this prequal to 'Killers Not-so Baby Girl' which I encourage you to read. I needed this short story so that I could give insight into the things mentioned in the second and third section of this 3 part story. 'Killers not-so Baby Girl' is the rest of the time Bramty is growing up, it's things that happen as she gets older that showcase how she matures and changes with age. There will also be funny things and jokes mentioned in the last instalment which will start when the TV show starts.
Thank you to everyone reading and commenting, I hope you enjoyed this so far and continue to the next instalment.
Chapter 17
Happy rolled his eyes as he watched Tara's face fall once again when Bramty was completely indifferent to the doctors attempts at an apology. It had taken a few weeks of Tara and Jax being on the outs before the doctor really accepted the fact she had been in the wrong.
Happy wasn't an idiot. While he may not have experienced any of the shit his baby girl had been through first hand, he knew the effect it could have on a person. But what most people failed to realise was that when your born into a life like that it becomes 'normal' and you learn to adapt to situations better than anyone else. Bramty isn't the broken little girl people think she is, his baby girl isn't hiding her feelings or pretending nothing happened... she just deals with it differently.
While Bramty chose most of the time not to speak about the things that had gone on in the house with her mom, it didn't mean she hadn't told him the basics. Bramty let him know what she needed from him to be okay and he gave it to her.
Even though Gemma had offered to help him find a house nearby to live in Bramty had refused. His baby girl had told him that being surrounded by her family helped her to remember nothing bad would happen again. It both broke his heart and warmed it at the same time. Bramty had been living with them for 6 months now and her being here felt right, it felt like the thing that had been missing from his life since he met her and Happy knew the others felt the same way.
It was as if she'd always been with them.
Another thing Bramty needed was to stay in his dorm with him. As a surprise for Bramty the guys and Gemma had cleaned out the dorm next to his, which was Jax's old dorm and had it's own bathroom. The club had decorated and set it all up and while Bramty loved it, she still slept in his bed with him. It wasn't that she was afraid - of being on her own which had been his first thought when she continued getting into his bed - it was that the change in her life, the removal of all things she had to fear, was a big change and she needed something constant.
Happy understood where Tara's worry had been coming from and he would be lying if he said he hadn't worried when he found out the truth too. But Happy understood Bramty better than Tara did, which was why he knew that talking and re-living those things to some stranger wasn't the way his baby girl would handle things.
Watching Bramty from across the lot he smiled slightly and stood making his way over to where she was playing. The longer she stayed with him the happier she seemed to get and for that he was fucking thankful. Bramty always seemed to bounce back.
"Daddy!" she smiled up at him when she spotted him nearing her and Happy caught her as she got up and launched herself at him. Happy shook his head amused, he was positive that she spent the same amount of time she did walking, being carried places. He wondered if that would make her lazy or some shit later because he knew that between himself and his brothers that she was being picked up constantly.
"How you doin' baby girl?" he kissed her forehead, and looked down at the picnic bench to see what it was she had been doing. When he spotted a tool box with semi-dry clay in it, gluing the tools in the box together; he raised a brow. "What the hell are you doin'?"
Bramty smirked at him - a smirk stolen right off the face of Tig Trager - and Happy groaned. The crazy blue eyed SAA had recently taken Bramty as his new partner in crime. If Tig was doing some stupid shit you could bet some serious money that Bramty was right by his side giggling like whatever it was they were doing was the most fun she'd ever had in her life.
"I'm helping Tiggy prank Hermano Juice" Bramty told him honestly, that was one thing he loved about his baby girl. No matter what she was doing if he asked, she told the truth. Now, that didn't mean she was forthcoming with information... but if he asked she wouldn't lie to him no matter how much trouble it would get her in. It just meant he had to keep an eye out for anything suspicious so he knew when to ask.
"Of course you are" he shook his head and laughed, why he hadn't just assumed that was what she was doing he didn't know. After all, any time Bramty was doing something she probably should it was under the instruction of Trager.
Happy was going to have to take this up with the man in the ring next club party.
"It'll be funny, Daddy" Bramty assured him and he nodded, he didn't doubt that it would be funny... for everyone but Juice that is.
Sitting back down on the picnic bench Happy looked at his daughter and smiled. Sometimes he could hardly believe that she was his daughter now and it never ceased to amaze him.
One look at Bramty and he just knew she would be one hell of a woman.
"I love you baby girl" Happy hissed her forehead lovingly and only smiled wider when her pig tails swished as she looked up at him.
Bramty beamed a smile up at him, "I love you too Daddy!"
Gemma watched form her office at TM as Donna pulled Opie's truck into the lot as requested by the guys. The brunette got out of the car looking as lost as she did the first day she stepped foot on the lot to meet Opie's family when they started dating back in high school. With a sigh and a small shake of her head Gemma got up to open the door but paused in the doorway with a frown when Donna's whole face lit up happily - nobody had seen that woman look happy anywhere near the clubhouse in years.
The huge smile made perfect sense when Gemma spotted Bramty shoot out of the clubhouse doors and towards Donna, the little girl pulled Donna into a tight hug. Watching them interact for a minute Gemma couldn't help but smile as all the uncertainty in Donna faded away after just one minute of talking to Bramty.
When Bramty grabbed Donna's hand and led the woman towards the clubhouse Gemma decided to follow slowly behind them.
"... I think Opie missed you today. He said that he didn't see you this morning cause you were snoring" Bramty told Donna who blushed and Gemma muffled a snort at the comment. Girl had no filter.
"You think he missed me?" Donna asked quietly and shuffled her weight to the other foot awkwardly.
Gemma knew Opie and Donna had been fighting a lot more now that money was tight, on top of Donna's growing dislike for the club, it was a hard time for the pair and had been for a few years now. Nothing Gemma had been able to say or do helped.
Bramty rolled her eyes, "You thought he didn't?" the little girl scoffed like it was the most ridiculous thing she'd ever heard in her life. "Opie tells me stories about you sometimes and he always gets sad when he misses you"
"What stories does he tell you?" Donna asked, her voice cracking slightly not that Bramty noticed as the little green eyed girl led Donna over to the bar to sit down.
Gemma stood in the kitchen close enough to hear and not be seen.
Bramty giggled, "Opie tells me about you when we work on the cars in the garage or when he gets out of Church sometimes. He always tells me about how he thinks your the prettiest girl he's ever seen or sometimes he tells me about how he likes watching you with Kenny and Ellie, being a mom, Opie's mom wasn't nice to him and he didn't like his mom but he says that your a nice mommy... he tells me how you met and all the things he loves about you"
Gemma smirked when she heard Donna sniffle, maybe Bramty was the person who'd give Donna the reality check she needs.
"Does Opie know that I miss him too?" Donna nearly whispered
"I don't think so" Bramty said and Gemma could imagine the girl shrugging, "He's sad and I think his heart hurts Donna"
"His heart hurts?" Donna repeated confused and Gemma was right along with Donna on the odd comment.
"Yeah. You know when you think about things and they make you so sad it hurts your heart?" Bramty asked and Donna much have nodded because Bramty continued. "Well, I think Opie's heart hurts. I don't get it though. Opie loves you and he missed you, he sees you every day but I don't understand what's hurting his heart..." Bramty trailed off
"I am" Donna sounded like she choked on a sob, "I'm hurting his heart Bramty and I don't know how to stop"
"Why are you hurting his heart?" Bramty asked innocently sounding confused by Donna's confession.
"B-Because I'm just what Gemma told me I'd be... a distraction. I don't know how to love the club like an Old Lady should. The club scares me and It makes me worry I'll lose my family but that's what's happening anyway and I can't fix it... I can't make it stop hurting" Donna sobbed
Gemma's brows hit her hair line. Slowly and quietly Gemma peaked around the corner seeing Donna's face on Bramty's lap as she cried and Bramty rubbed the woman's back with an uncomfortable look on her face that was mixed with a little worry.
Gemma would have laughed, Bramty was just like her father; they don't do emotions often and crying women was something they avoided like the plague.
"Your scared of the men?" the little girl questioned
"Kinda" Donna sniffled as she sat up to look at Bramty and shrugged, "I mean, your dad's scary but I'm more scared of what they do with the club than of the men, I guess"
Bramty nodded thoughtfully, "I know that they do bad things sometimes like hurting bad people but it's why I feel safe"
"W-what?" Donna frowned and quietly Gemma was doing the same thing as she watched the conversation from just around the corner.
Bramty smiled softly, "My mommy wasn't a good mommy. Katherine used to hurt me and she let mean men hurt me too. She was a crack whore who took money from customers that wanted to touch me... and... and wanted me to do things I shouldn't be doing"
To say Gemma was stunned was an understatement and it looked like Donna was feeling the same way judging by the gasp of horror Donna let out before clutching Bramty's hand. "I didn't know. I am so sorry you had to go through that"
Bramty nodded, "There were men who Katherine started to date. He-" the little girl shuddered and took a deep breath before looking back at Donna who was crying again. "He was the worst of all the men I've ever met. He did really bad things to me Donna and I couldn't move for days... it hurt so bad. They made drugs in our kitchen and they killed the other woman and we had to clean up the blood and the bodies... it was so bad Donna, I wanted my Daddy because I was scared... but one day, they were all yelling when I came home from school about SAMCRO trying to kill them! I knew that my Daddy and Clay and Opie don't want drugs in this town! SAMCRO didn't know me then and my Daddy was in Tacoma but they saved me even if they didn't know it... Donna, the club isn't scary because they do bad things to bad people. My Daddy likes to hurt people but he doesn't hurt innocent people - he hurts bad guys who nobody wants in this town and Opie helps him, Opie is the same. Opie might not like killing like my Daddy does but he's a good man who does what has to be done to protect us and everybody else"
Gemma was in tears when Bramty finished talking and Donna flung her arms around Bramty who let out a small giggle. Donna's sobs were loud and Gemma quickly wiped away her own tears refusing to let out a sob that was threatening to escape.
She may never tell Bramty this, but that girl was gonna save them all.
Bramty was just 8 years old had lived through hell already and she had managed to find a safe home in the club. They would forever protect her and love her as family, of that Gemma was certain. But she was sure that Bramty would never fully understand how much she's saving the club... the men may have saved Bramty's a few times but Bramty was going to be the glue of this family.
The Church doors opened and a concerned looking Opie pushed past his brothers quickly finding himself at his wife's side. "Don?"
"Oh, Opie" Donna let Bramty go and flung herself into the giant mans arms. Opie caught her easily. A frown on his face as he swept Donna up and carried her up to a spare dorm probably to have a conversation that was long overdue.
Happy stepped forward frowning as he looked at Bramty, "What was that about?" all the other guys looked at the little girl wanting to know the same thing.
"Donna is going to fix his heart" Bramty told them with an excited smile as she looked in the direction of the married couple. Bramty ignored the confused looks of the men and slipped off the bar stool, wandering over to the couch to watch cartoons.
Gemma let out a laugh and shook her head, how that girl could have a deep and meaningful conversation about horrific events and then seconds later be giggling and smiling was beyond Gemma.
Her laugh alerted the men to her presence, they gave her a questioning look and Gemma only smirked in response. "I have been trying to help Donna get to the bottom of her and Opie's issues for at least 4 years. It took that little girl 5 minutes to have Donna spilling her guts"
A genuine smile spread across a few of the men's faces, happiness for Donna and Opie as well as pride for the young girl who had come into their lives.
"She's gonna save us all" Gemma told the men before walking out the clubhouse doors.
She wasn't usually one to say shit like that, but this time she meant it whole heartedly. Bramty would be able to save the club in way's she hadn't and The Sons of Anarchy will live on with that beautifully brave girl looking out for everyone.
Happy couldn't have done better with that child.
Juice let out a shaky breath, he had been a fully patched member for 8 months now and while he had seen many people get killed he hadn't ever been the one to pull the trigger before. He was kind of glad he'd been in too much shock earlier to processed everything, because now that he realised fully that he had killed a man he was freaking the fuck out.
His ADD wasn't helping with that at all right now.
Doing what he always does to manage his ADD, Juice sat down in his dorm in front of the monitor and started up his video game. Mario cart was one of the only ones he had without killing and that's what he was gonna play cause he didn't think killing - even on a game - was good for his head right now.
Juice tried to keep his shit together but not even playing the games was helping him stop picturing the man he killed. Letting out a small sob he through the controller into the monitor.
"FUCK!" he hissed. The noise in his head was fuelling the guilt and nausea in his stomach.
Sinking to the floor Juice couldn't stop the tears or his body shaking from muffled sobs.
"Juice?" a small voice whispered just as a small hand rested on his back.
Juice looked up with tears in his eyes only to see Bramty looking at him with a frown. Quickly he tried to wipe them away not wanting anyone to witness this break down but they just kept flowing.
"It's okay Juice... Daddy told me what you had to do" he was slightly shocked Happy had told her about him killing a Nord today. What shocked him even more was when she sat down on the floor next to him, lifted one of his arms up and onto her shoulders before she crawled into his lap and hugged him.
Juice paused in his crying for a second before letting it all out as Bramty held him and rubbed his back. He knew logically it shouldn't be like this. She shouldn't be having to comfort him... he should be comforting the little girl. But there was something so warm and loving about the little girl that made it in impossible to hide from her.
"I love you Juice" Bramty whispered and held him tightly until his tears stopped and his breathing returning to normal.
Juice finally lifted his face from the little girls shoulder and gave her a weak watery smile, "I'm sorry about this"
Bramty shook her head at him, "Seeing someone be killed isn't easy and I don't think killing them would better... you did the right thing Juice. You protected your brothers and they're all proud of you for it"
Juice just stared at her wondering how such a small and young little girl managed to understand and know things that grown ass people struggled with. Bramty seemed so sure he had done the right thing, so sure that his brothers were proud of him for it too... but he didn't know how she saw that? How did killing someone make his brothers proud? How can she stand to look at him now?
His thoughts were all too loud in his head and he held Bramty tighter to his chest, if she wasn't scared of him, if she wasn't hating him then he mustn't be that bad of a person... right?
"I- I don't know why you don't hate me" he whispered thickly, he wasn't really expecting a response from Bramty but was surprised when she lifted his head up and wiped away his tears before kissing his cheek.
"I love you, Juice. I might not have been around here for that long but I understand what the club does and what you did today. If you didn't kill that Nord he would have killed not only you but Jax... and all our hearts would be broken. You did what you had to do to get back to your family. Those guys won't say it but I know they love you... your the younger brother they all get to tease until Kip patches in. You might be goofy and different to them but today you proved you'll do anything it takes to keep this family whole"
Juice wasn't sure how Bramty knew they loved him, that he was important to the others but he couldn't deny the fact he believed her when she said it. Her words were comforting. She was right though... if he hadn't of killed the Nord and shot first, both he and Jax would have been dead right now. T
his little girl who loves him and Jax would be crying as someone sat and explained to her how she would never see either of them again. Abel, Tara, Clay, Gemma... they would all of lost a piece of their hearts because he didn't pull that trigger and protect himself and his VP.
That Nord would have gone on and continued selling drugs in Charming and it would have been because he didn't pull that trigger - but he did. He pulled the trigger and stopped all of that from happening. He got Jax home to his family for another day and he got himself home for another day.
That Nord had known exactly what would happen when he refused to leave town and started firing at them. The Nord had known he was likely to die yet he had done it anyway. That racist fucker wasn't an innocent and Juice wasn't a bad person.
Juice looked back at Bramty and sighed in relief; she's right.
"Thank you Bramty and I love you too kiddo" he smiled at the girl who had become something of a younger sister to him.
Bramty returned the smile and pressed a kiss to his cheek, "Juice?"
"Yeah?"
Bramty smiled widely, "Can you teach me how to play the video games?" she asked and he beamed and nodded. Nobody had really played video games with him, well a few had tried but they were so bad at it he couldn't even stand to watch them try.

Clay sat his old ass down on the picnic blanket that Gemma and Bramty had set down for everyone who wanted to sit on the floor. He laughed as Piney followed suit with a loud groan. The older man pushed his oxygen tube further up his nose.
"She's a good kid" Piney said after a minute of silence and Clay looked over at his friend to see the tequila drinking addict watching Bramty fly through the Bobby's legs to avoid being caught by the man as ran to make the touch down.
For the first time in a while Clay found a real, warm smile on his face. Everyone of them had been in a work, club, fight, work, club, fight, kind of pattern for years now. They were a family, sure, but they didn't do picnics or have carefree fun days like this anymore. This was all Bramty.
The little girl might not know it yet but she saved this club and Clay had a feeling it won't be the last time. Her coming to live with them at the clubhouse brought the fun and the smiles back to the guys faces.
Hell, the girl managed to make Happy Lowman of all people smile!
When Gemma had told him of Bramty's idea he had been reluctant at first, they didn't normally do things like this. But after the guys heard the little 8 year old gushing about it, none of them had been able to tell her no.
And so it had been a direct order from their president that they all attend this picnic.
Looking out at everyone now he knew it wasn't a mistake, there wasn't a person here who didn't have a smile on their faces. Donna, Tara and Gemma were sitting at the picnic bench with wine in hand and a fancy cheese and dip platter that Gemma had made. Clay knew Gemma disliked Tara and wasn't the biggest fan of Donna, he was surprised to see the three were getting along nicely and laughing like they were best friends.
Opie and Jax were occupying Abel, Ellie and Kenny with a games of handball while newborn Thomas sat on the side lines in his baby carrier.
The loud cheering drew Clay's attention to the group chanting, "Assholes! assholes! assholes!" with shit eating grins on their faces as they celebrated scoring another touch down.
The game of football had included separating into two teams which were named; Balls of steel and the other named Assholes of steel. Cause why would they pick a simple name when it could be something brass and inappropriate for a game insisted on being played by an 8 year old girl?
So far Bobby, Chibs, Half-Sack and Juice were on team 'Balls of Steel' with the addition of the Normad's who'd come to town and had been required to join the game - Pig, Donut and Frankie, are in the lead by one point. Happy, Kozik, Tig, Quin, Shark, Bramty and Juice who named their team 'Assholes of Steel' are trying to win back the lead.
Always a rowdy bunch, both teams were grinning and smirking as they threw insults and taunting comments at each other the whole time. Bramty's cussing setting the entire group into to fits of loud roaring laughter as she cursed up a storm worse than most of them did.
The sun was out but there was just enough cool air, that running around in leather Kutte's and jeans wasn't really a problem.
After a sharp whistle from Gemma the rowdy bunch all ran over and sat down at the various picnic benches in the park or the blankets on the floor knowing food was ready. The Old Ladies plated food and handed it out to everyone to enjoy.
Days like these reminded Clay of why they created The Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club in the first place.
As much as they were all hard and violent men, it was these situations where you really felt the brotherly love amongst the group. As loud, dangerous and intimidating as the leather clad killers can be... they're one big dysfunctional family... they're SAMCRO.
To be continued...
A/N : In a day or so I will post the first chapters of the sequel to this. I hope you all continue with me in this story and love it as much as I do! Thanks for reading!
