Mei hated this. She hated this like a deep sea fish avoiding sunlight at all costs.

"So what's your favorite color?" Yuzu asked brightly, smiling excitedly since she forced Mei to talk about herself. Well, "forced" wasn't really the right word, considering Mei had agreed to this… For some strange and unknown reason.

"… Green," Mei answered, trying not to act like her nails were being ripped out of her fingers.

"Really?" Yuzu leaned forward, eyes sparkling. "You seen more like the fancy color type, like 'chartreuse' or something," she admitted sheepishly.

"It's just colors," Mei muttered. This was really hard. As long as Yuzu stuck to simple questions like her favorite color, then perhaps she could survive.

"Well, my favorite color is yellow. Next question! What's your most embarrassing moment?"

Mei couldn't stop the grimace on her face. "Must you ask such an invasive question?"

Yuzu pouted. "But you promised me a conversation," she said with a slight whine.

"I didn't realize conversing involved a game of twenty questions."

Yuzu deflated, resigned to this sort of reaction from Mei. "Okay, I'm sorry. I just," she tugged on a blonde curl, looking away. "Wanted to get to know you a little more."

Guilt crept up on Mei like an unwanted bug and the girl sighed, preparing to rip her own damn nail off herself. "When the school year started, I had to give a speech to the student body. It was my first time giving a speech," Mei recounted softly, avoiding Yuzu's surprised look. "I was so nervous I hadn't eaten all day. And when I was talking on the microphone, my stomach… rumbled. Very loudly." Mei finished off there, letting Yuzu fill in the blanks herself. After a few moments her eyes glanced at Yuzu again.

Yuzu was gaping at her with raised brows before Mei could see the curl of her lips and she internally groaned at the amusement in Yuzu's eyes.

The blonde reeled in her laughter at the last moment, not wanting to put Mei off from telling her that story. Still, the picture of Mei standing up on stage, cheeks colored as her rumbling stomach echoed over the speakers for everyone to hear… Yuzu had to hold her breath to stop from giggling. "Wow, uh," she was practically shaking. "That's… very embarrassing!" She bit her lips to stop her grinning, knowing Mei was probably glaring at her. "What did you do?"

"I continued on like nothing happened, of course," Mei said, trying not to relive that horrible memory. "Your turn," Mei said with narrowed eyes. If she was going to do this, she wanted equivalent exchange.

The question was enough for Yuzu to stop laughing and blush heavily. She was prepared for this though, and shared her own story willingly. Anything for Mei to feel more comfortable. "In middle school I went through a wig phase."

"Wig phase?" Mei said with a raised brow. She couldn't picture it. Yuzu seemed so proud of her hair the way it was now.

"Yeah," Yuzu said, continuing to blush. "Before I dyed my hair, I tried wearing all sorts of wigs. One day I was out with my friends, when a… a bird," she made a diving motion with her hand, face red all over. "A bird came out of nowhere and attacked my head and flew away with my awesome purple wig."

"… That's awful," Mei said at last, her posture relaxing somewhat, much to Yuzu's amazement. There was even a hint of laughter in the slight crinkle in her eyes. Something in Yuzu's chest swelled at the sight, making her enthusiasm grow.

"What's your favorite animal?"

"Miniature pig."

Yuzu leaned back at the unexpected answer. "Oh my gosh, that's adorable!"

Mei bit the inside of her cheek. "They are."

"I meant you're adorable," Yuzu laughed. "Mine isn't as unusual; I like cats! Favorite… skittle flavor?"

"Orange."

"Eww. Grapes are the best, Mei."

"You have horrible tastes."

"What was the last thing you dreamed?"

Mei tilted her head as she tried to remember. "I dreamed that I was late on paperwork."

"That's not so bad. At least your pants weren't missing."

Mei declined to mention that her pants may or may not have been missing in the dream. "You?"

Yuzu opened her mouth to speak, then her breath seemed to hitch and she faltered, red traveling up her neck and onto her face. "Haha… Shouldn't have asked that question."

Mei was curious now, leaning forward herself. "Answer the question."

Yuzu squirmed in place, eyes darting around the room as she grumbled under her breath.

"Excuse me?" Mei asked.

"I dreamed that I…" Yuzu covered her face with her hands. "IdreamedIgaveyoualapdance!"

Mei's brows went up and her cheeks lit up. Fortunately Yuzu wasn't looking at her.

"Quick, what's a weird talent you have!" Yuzu barked out, trying to distract Mei from what she had just revealed.

"Um," Mei tried to put her thoughts back in order after trying to recreate what Yuzu had just told her in her own mind. "I don't really have any weird talents."

"C'mon, there must be something!" Yuzu removed one of her hands from her face long enough to demonstrate something. "My hands are double jointed," she said as she started bending her fingers in unusual ways. Mei was visibly horrified by this.

"That's atrocious."

"I know, its weird, right?" Yuzu said as she bent her ring finger across the back of her hand.

"Dear lord," Mei looked away.

Satisfied that she had distracted Mei from her dream admission, Yuzu asked again. "Can you think of anything weird you can do?"

Mei stayed silent for a few seconds, still not looking at Yuzu's freaky fingers. "I guess I can… move my ears?" she finally said in a question. Yuzu perked up.

"Really? Show me?"

Mei blushed faintly. What on earth possessed her to admit that? She grasped Yuzu's hand, (thankfully she was no longer demonstrating her double-jointedness), bringing it up to press it against her ear.

Yuzu's eyes widened when she could feel Mei's ear moving beneath her palm. "Holy crap, they're actually moving!" Fascinated, she brought her second hand up to the other side of Mei's head.

Mei could feel her face heating up beyond her control, because this was so dumb, her ears were wiggling for god's sake. And Yuzu was smiling at her, and leaning in and giving her an appreciative kiss on the mouth. For what? Mei had no clue. Maybe she found wiggly ears attractive.

"Thank you for showing me," Yuzu said, pulling back quickly, a happy blush on her face. "Why don't you ask a question now?"

Mei blinked and stared at Yuzu blankly. She had no idea what to ask. "Do you like… potatoes?" she asked haltingly.

Yuzu gave her a look that said, "wow you suck at initiating conversation" but she nodded at the effort, smiling tenderly. "Potatoes are awesome."

Maybe Mei didn't hate sitting down and talking as much as she thought.
