Mei looked at her creation with a critical eye. It was a bear charm she had stitched together by hand. Or, it was supposed to resemble a bear. It looked more like a potato with arms and legs and ears. She sighed and her shoulders sagged a little. The bear charm Yuzu had given her had been much cuter. It was the first gift she had received from Yuzu, and Mei wanted to repay her in kind. She should've just bought something, she thought too late. The tiny pricks from the needle she used stung her fingers all over.
She felt oddly nervous at the idea of giving it to Yuzu. She waited for an opportunity, but one never seemed to present itself. In the end, she decided to leave the bear on top of Yuzu's pillow when the other girl wasn't in the room. She didn't want to make a fuss about the event, and she felt self-conscious at the effort she had put into making a sister for Ansoniko.
She was reading a book in the room when Yuzu found it. The blonde gingerly picked it up, looking at Mei meaningfully. Mei tried to hide the fact that she'd been watching Yuzu's reaction like a hawk by moving the book in front of her eyes.
"Mei? Did you make her?" Yuzu asked curiously.
Mei kept her face hidden with the book. "And if I did?" she said in her best apathetic voice. She flinched in surprise when Yuzu lowered her book, and ducked into Mei's personal space before she realized the other girl had approached. She delivered a sweet kiss to her lips, making Mei blush in unpreparedness.
"I love it, Mei. Thank you! Now we can match," Yuzu said excitedly, even if the bears didn't match at all.
Mei felt her heart beat madly in happiness, but she cleared her throat and turned away. "Do as you like."
Yuzu giggled. "You're so adorable, Mei" she whispered to herself, knowing the other would object.
Mei hunkered down with her book even further. "I'm trying to study."
