Soon after we said our goodbyes and I made my way to my apartment, alone. It felt colder then usual inside the small apartment. I stepped inside the shower trying to wash away this feeling that I didn't understand but it was like it was rooted in my chest. I skipped supper and laid down confused in my bed, all my blankets pulled over me, but I still felt cold. 'Is this normal?' I asked my self as I buried my face in my pillows, I didn't know what to do, or what this was.
I opened my phone and looked at my photos... All of them were of me and Deku. 'What is it about him?' I asked my self frustrated as I looked at that dorky, green haired, smiling fan boy. 'He's just a human. And I'm a Saiyan... we shouldn't even be friends.'
I flicked to the next photo, a photo of him getting flustered like so many times. 'What makes him so...' I couldn't put it into words.
'Should I call him?' I asked my self as I opened my contacts. My finger hovered over the button but I just turned the phone off and in the black reflection of the screen I saw me, 'Dose he feel the same strange way about me?'
Chapter 34: Internships And Hero Names
I entered the UA grounds and a lot of the other students gave me dirty looks. I just ignored them as best I could, but it still got to me. "Ignore it." I nearly jumped out of my skin as a voice came from behind me. I look back a smiling blonde blue eyed boy who was clearly older then me. "You did amazing in the sports festival." I smiled, "You have a lot of potential, but we still have to see how things go." He walked pass me.
I made my to my class and entered the room. "FUMA!" Iida zipped over to me, "It's been more then a month since the start of school, you won the sports festival and is essentially the face for our course and grade and yet you still dress like you had just gotten out of a fight."
I just shrugged. "I don't see why I would be the face, after all you are our class rep." I said.
"Okay, everyone settle down." Aizawa said behind me in his sleeping bag. We got to our seats, and Aizawa began. "Okay, you will be looking into internships with pro hero agencies." He wrote down on the chalk board a handful of names. Bakugo, Me, Sero and Todoroki and a few more along with numbers. "These are the internship offers. Normally it's a lot more spread out, but all of you are taking a internship. Also, you have to pick a hero name, Midnight is here to help with that." The black haired dominatrix walked into the room as Aizawa fell asleep in the corner.
"Okay, now understand that these names may be temporary but they could end up sticking." She gave the sleeping teacher a sidelong look like she knew something.
White boards were handed out and I wondered what I should put down as my hero name. Aoyama's Hero name Can't stop Twinkling kinda set the bar low.
"Pinky!" Ashido said after her fist name was rejected.
"King Explosion murder."
"No." Midnight said.
"Cellophane." Sero said.
"Shoto." Shoto wrote down his name.
"Iida." Iida seemed like that wasn't the name he wanted.
"Lord Explosion Murder." Midnight just shook her head.
"The Sturdy Hero: Red Riot." Kirishima said.
"Oh old school, based off the Chivalrous Hero Crimson Riot." Midnight said.
"Yeah, I want to be just like him, he's my idol." He smiled.
"Oh so manly." The teacher blushed. Then Deku went up. "Really you sure you want that to be your name?" On his sign was the name Deku.
"I will redefine the meaning of it and it will be the name of a hero." He said.
Then I went up, and on my white board was one word. A word I would also redefine. "I am Saiyan."
Stacks of papers were handed out and a looked at a few of them. 'I was the winner, yet I got the second highest amount.' I looked over at Bakugo who had a smug look.
I flicked through them and I recognized one of the names, Mirko.
I pulled it out and read it over and with a small smirk I knew where I was going. I looked over at Deku and realized that he didn't have any requests/
The classes passed like normal and soon it was lunch, I got up to go eat with my group of... friends. Yeah. Friends. 'My own squadron.' I smiled.
But just like before the Sports festival All Might appeared. "Young Fuma, Young Deku. I need to speak with you two." We followed him to the teachers lounge.
We sat down and again there was a full picnic basket. I grabbed a apple and took a bite. "So what is this about?" Deku asked.
All Might powered down to his skinny form "You are thinking about internships right?" He asked.
"Well yeah. I am thinking of interning with Mirko." I said as I pulled out the form and handed it to him.
"A good pick." He said. "But one of my old teachers wants to take you two on as interns. He knows about One For All."
"Oh, well. I don't have any other requests." Deku said. "So I'll take it."
"I'll have to think about it." 'Being able to spend time with Deku with no one but a old hero just coaching us during the day? Maybe I'll be able understand what... what ever is going on between us.' I thought to my self.
Deku then spoke up. "If you want to do yours with Mirko, I won't blame you, that is a amazing opportunity, one of the top heroes."
I smiled at him. "I... yeah."
As the days passed the two internship forms filled my mind with doubts. Every day I was asked which I had picked but I just couldn't pick one. Then one Friday when I was visiting Deku and Inko when Deku was in his room. "So have you chosen your internship?" Inko asked.
"No, I want to learn from Mirko, but... I also want to do it with Deku." I said as I pulled the forms from my bag. "I don't know which to pick."
Inko took the forms from me. "Well... I think that you should pick your own path. You two can't spend every moment together." She placed the sheets back down and held my hands in her own. "When I heard how injured he got when his quirk first emerged I was so worried about him, but then you showed up and wanted to train him you use his power. You did something for him that I couldn't. I can't thank you enough but you need to follow your own path."
I sighed as I smiled. "Thank you Inko." I picked up the forms and signed one. "I needed that."
"Of course dear." She walked around the table and hugged me.
I handed the form to Aizawa the next day. "So you finally made up your mind." He said.
"Yeah, I just need some encouragement." I said before heading back to my desk.
The last few days before the internships I focused on my meditation, trying to fully lock away the great ape power. As much as Deku believed in me I couldn't risk it, not with everything I had gained in the short time I had on this planet.
Soon the day came for us to leave for our internships. I sat with my group which had taken to calling our little group the Squadron. But Iida was distant, and had been growing increasingly so ever since what had happened to his brother. "Hey Iida, if you need to talk, we are here for you." Deku said to him.
"He doesn't speak for me." I joked trying to cut through the tension.
Iida laughed lightly, "I'm fine." He boarded his train and left.
Then mine arrived and I turned to Deku and Uraraka and I smiled. "I'll see you two soon." I said before giving Uraraka a awkward hug and then pulled Deku into a much closer one. "Don't get your self hurt while I'm gone."
"I'll be fine Fuma." He said as we let go of each other. I grabbed my case with my armor and turned to leave. "Fuma…"
"Yes?" I asked.
"I... I will get stronger for the both of us." He said determined.
"I know you will. Izuku." I stepped onto the train, my heart racing for some reason. 'What is wrong with me?'
I took my seat and as the train rumbled along I looked out the window. As the countryside rolled by as I headed to the next city. I was on the train for nearly three hours and the train pulled into my station. I stepped off and looked at a white haired woman with large bunny ears. "Welcome to your fist days as a Hero."
And done here today, what did you think of it?
