Yu-Gi-Oh ! GX : Destiny's Dawn
CHAPTER 3
"And that concludes today's lesson," Crowler said, closing his schoolbook. "Don't forget, you will all have to write assignments about what we did today before the end of the week. And I'll make sure that those who think are above it regret the instant they set foot on this academy!" He shouted across the entire classroom, before grinning devilishly. "That goes for everyone, especially you all Slifer slackers!"
"Man, I don't get why he hates us so much." Said Konrad, who was a bit nerved by Crowler's threat. "Sure, we're at the bottom of the barrel, but he could atleast treat us with some respect."
"If you think Crowler's bad, wait till you see some of the obelisks," Chumley stated. "They literally treat us like we're maggots. Totally not licious if ya ask me."
Syrus sighed, "I mean, Crowler takes this personally. He did get beat by a slifer red, after all, Bet you didn't know that, eh Konami?" He faintly smiled.
"Er…" Konrad trailed off, he was about to break the bad news to him and hesitated for a brief instant as he saw Syrus' smile, it was obvious that the small boy barely had any victories in his life, so he let him have this one. "Y-Yeah, I didn't know! That explains things!" Konrad nodded, lying through his teeth.
Unluckily for them, their conversation had caused some noise that reached Crowler's ears. "When you slackers finish making a ruckus, perhaps we can proceed, hmm?" He asked the group.
"Jeez, talk a party pooper." Jaden pouted. "Oh yeah, Konami, by the way, since there's been a bunch of new students, they'll have to gather you guys up and introduce everyone to each dorm's head professors, after class. Our dorm's head prof might be weird, but he's a good guy."
With that, he would rise up from his seat and stretch his arms, "Phew, I'm hungry. Sy, Chum, you guys wanna grab some sandwiches and check out the new cool booster packs?" He asked his friends, who nodded in unison. "Sure thing, Jay!" Syrus chirped. "I sure could go for a grilled cheese sandwich or two right now." Added Chumley as his stomach growled.
"Right, but I'll warn ya guys," Jaden closed his eyes and grinned. "The Golden Egg sandwich is mine! Anyways, Konami, we'll meet up later at the shop and I'll introduce ya to the rest of the gang." Jaden told Konrad before he leapt out of the table, "Last one is a stinking loser!" He shouted as he ran up the stairs.
"Hey, no fair! Wait up, Jay!" Syrus ran after him. "Oh man, guess I'm a stinking loser." Chumley too followed, but he was having trouble catching up to Syrus, let alone Jaden.
(What a bunch of weirdoes, but hey, I like them.) Mused Konrad to himself, the whole classroom was empty, save the new students. They had all split according to their dorm into four; There were two group of Obelisks, boys and girls, then the Ras and eventually the slifers.
They were faced by their respective teacher in charge; Crowler was for the Obelisk boys. The Obelisk Girls' was a red-haired woman that wore the obelisk blue girl outfit but was quite a bit…revealing. She was Fonda Fontaine, and Needless to say; she was pretty, all the boys looked at her, and those who didn't couldn't help but sneak some glances towards her. She didn't seem fazed too much by it and in fact, looked like she enjoyed the attention for a bit.
The Ra Yellow Teacher resembled an Italian mob boss, he had a mustache and black hair slicked back. The most obvious particularity of his was how skinny he was; He looked like he avoided a plate of food for days. The Ra students were calling him Martyr and a plethora of other names which were wrong, his name was Sartyr and he was exasperated at how the students were getting it wrong.
The Slifer Red teacher was a long black haired man, sporting a simple white shirt and black pants. He was of tall stature: rivaling Crowler in height who himself already dwarfed many people, his peers and students alike. His eyes were closed, and he never opened them once, it was like someone had glued them shut. It also made some people wonder why he wore glasses. He introduced himself as Lyman Banner.
(So that's the guy in charge of the slifer reds? He doesn't look too bad.) Konrad spoke, having analyzed Banner. The teachers had introduced themselves to their students and wished them all a good year, the usual procedure.
"Dr. Banner, if I may," Sartyr turned to his fellow professor, "There's something I'd like to talk to you about." He stated as he went over to him and whispered something to his ear. Banner was a bit surprised by what he had said.
"Uhm, well, this is most unusual," Banner admitted, "Don't worry, Dr. Sartyr, I'll take over." He assured his peer as he turned to the students. "It has come to my attention that there was some kind of miscalculation that concerns the Ra Yellow dorm," Banner stated, causing the Ra yellow students to look at each other in confusion. "The dorm is one room short, or rather, there's a student who won't be staying in the Ra Yellow dorm for the time being. Er, what was his name again?" Banner scratched his head, "Ah, right, Hiroto! Is Hiroto here?"
A loud grumble was heard from the back end of the Ra Yellow line as a hand was raised; It was Hiroto. "Ah, there you are!" Grinned Banner, "From today until the Ra Yellow dorm finds a new room, you'll be staying with us at the slifer reds. I hope you like cockroaches and rats, because our room is full of them!"
The room was quiet before a loud laughter echoed through the classroom; All of the students laughed and laughed at Hiroto, the whole situation about a Ra Yellow stuck among Slifer Reds was comedy gold for them. It was however, only those of Obelisk Blue and Ra Yellow students, the slifer reds were too stumped to even answer.
"What a loser!"
"Maybe he should just paint that yellow coat red!"
"Imagine living with Slifer Slackers, ugh, couldn't be me!"
"Ra Yellow failure!"
Several jabs were thrown at him, much to Hiroto's dismay. This was what he was most afraid of; Sure, it sucked living in the slifer red dorm, it was the worst of the worst, but he could get used to it. This, however, was a different beast. The humiliation, the disrespect, they could be felt in the air it was smothering. And even if Hiroto did get a room later in his dorm, some people will still bring this up to him, it was a stain that forever tainted him. "Shut up, Shut up all of you!" Hiroto had enough and yelled. "I swear, I'll make you all pay!" Were his last words before he stormed out of the class with incredible speed.
"Ack, He ran away!" Banner took a step forwards before he stopped. "Trouble already…If any of you guys find him, please lead him to the dorm." He warned his students, "We don't want him to get lost."
"Poor guy…" Konrad echoed. Even if he thought Hiroto was a massive douche and a jerk; He didn't deserve this. Nobody did. "Professor Banner, leave it to me," Konrad turned to him, "I'll bring him to the dorm."
Banner was quite unsure of how to answer to this, after all, He had his doubts about whether Konrad could do it and thought more than likely, he would also lose his way. "Hmm.." scratching his chin, Banner was figuring what to do, before he yielded. "Alright, you can go. But you will have to be accompanied by someone who's been at the academy longer. Say, why don't you go with Jaden? After all, you guys are friends." Banner suggested with a smile.
"Er…Sure." Konrad nodded, He found it strange that Banner thought he and Jaden were friends despite the two just meeting today. But Konrad knew that he could trust Jaden. With that he turned around and left the classroom. "Don't be late to dinner, it's at 7:00 PM-" Banner shouted but unfortunately, Konrad had already cleared the area.
"Jaden!" Konrad entered the shop in a rush, it took him a while to do so but fortunately he had found his way there. He barged into to see the trio eating their sandwiches in peace.
"What's the hurry, Konami?" Jaden asked as he looked at him, he had been halfway into his sandwich and spoke with his mouth full. "No time, we have to look for someone before it's too late!" Konrad answered.
"Who?" Syrus asked, a bit distraught. "Really, no time to explain here, I'll do it on the way!" Urged Konami, he was running in place. Chumley was a bit annoyed by this, "Can't a guy enjoy his sandwich in peace?"
"Come on guys, let's help him, he's our buddy," Jaden said as he gulped down his entire sandwich in record time. "Awright, after you, Konami." He nodded at him.
Like a tornado, the group left the shop and left the academy, running in the path leading to the main gate. "So what's going on, Konami? Who are we looking for?" Asked Jaden as he ran alongside Konrad.
"Well, you know that Ra Yellow guy that entered the room with me? We're looking for him!" Konrad answered. "Do we really have to run? I mean it's obvious he would go to the Ra Yellow dorm!" Said Chumley, who was breathing heavily while running.
"There's the problem- He isn't going to be at the Ra Yellow dorm, there's no room for him there!" Konrad informed Chumley, "He was supposed to stay at the Slifer Red dorm until they could transfer him to where he should be!"
"What?! You mean there would be a Ra Yellow with us?" Syrus asked, "I can see why the guy would run away, it's awful!"
"Come on Sy, it's not that bad!" Jaden defended the dorm, he had liked the dorm and was a bit offended. "Let's just say it's part of it, yeah, I'll tell you all the whole truth later, we need to focus on finding him first! So where should we look first?!" Konrad asked, hoping that that the three had some ideas.
"How about the Ra Yellow dorm? Maybe we can ask the people there if they saw him." Chumley suggested. "Good idea, Chumley! Let's get going!" Exclaimed Jaden as he sped up even further, leaving Konrad amazed. "How can he run that fast?"
"Oh boy, you have a lot to learn about Jaden." Syrus sighed.
It wasn't too long before they had reached the Ra Yellow dorm. "Alright, let's look around!" Jaden yelled.
"Say, what's the commotion?" A voice spoke up, it had a British accent to it. The group turned to see a Ra Yellow studen with black hair that looked like a reduced version of Jaden's. He looked at the four, crossing his arms and smiling.
"Bastion! Have you seen a Ra Yellow aroung here?!" Asked Jaden, not realizing how stupid his question was. "Uh, Jaden, I don't think that's the right question to ask." Konrad added.
"Sure did," Bastion replied without so much of sarcasm, as if he knew exactly what Jaden meant. "If you are referring to the Ra Yellow that was with you," He looked at Konrad, "Then I saw him from my window. He stared at the building for a bit before running into the back forests. He seemed pretty irritated from the looks of it."
Konrad gulped, this didn't bode well. "Forests? Oh man, half of this island is just that!" He lamented before he shook his head. "Oh, darn it. Thanks, erm.."
"Bastion Misawa, pleasure to meet you."
"Right. I'm Konrad Amirian."
"You can call him Konami, too!" Jaden chimed in. "Anyways, see ya later, Bastion. We have to hurry before dinner!" And once again, they took off into the woods.
"How are we going to ever find the guy?" Syrus asked, he was nervous being in the forest at a late time. "He could be anywhere, why don't we let the academy issue a search team for him, eh? They would do a better job than us."
"I agree, Sy! We're not going to find him anywhere." Chumley agreed but once again they were shot down by Jaden. "Guys, just have some faith, will ya? Do you really want to go back knowing we left someone alone?"
Syrus and Chumley simply looked away, Jaden was right. "Well, when you put it that way-" Stated Syrus before a noise interrupted him. The group were quick to glance in the direction of the sound and there they found Hiroto, he was hiding or rather tried to behind a tree.
"Man, you should probably learn to hide better." Jaden commented.
"What do you slackers want?!" Hiroto asked with hostility. "Leave me alone!"
"He sounds like Crowler and Chazz at the same time." Syrus spoke, frightened of Hiroto.
"You heard him! He wants to be left alone, so let's go before it's too late for dinner." Chumley stated, his stomach growling, the sandwiches he had were not enough to satiate his hunger. But Konrad had a different idea.
"No, we're not going anywhere without him. I promised Banner to bring him back." Konrad spoke, "Hiroto, enough is enough, come with us. Everyone is worried about you."
"Everyone? Everyone?! Yeah, right, as if!" Hiroto shouted. "It so happens that those people you talk about all laughed at me! Do you know how it feels?! To be a Ra Yellow, who not only lost to a Slifer Red, but has to live with them! It's a fate worse than death, I tell you!"
"Wow, what's this about? Any idea what he's talking about, Konami?" Jaden asked Konrad, He, Syrus and Chumley were completely left in the dark.
"He and I dueled before class and I won," Konrad explained. "But he's really, really strong. I won by luck as much as I hate to admit it. He definitely deserves to be a Ra Yellow, no ifs, ands, or buts."
"This kinda sounds like you, Jay," Syrus noted a similarity to one of Jaden's past duel, as a matter of fact, the very duel that allowed him to enter the academy. "Like when you beat Crowler at the entrance exam."
"Oh yeah, it does look familiar." Jaden stated, scratching his cheek with his index finger. Konrad and Hiroto looked at him with surprise. "You…A slacker like you defeated Crowler?! Impossible!" Hiroto completely dismissed this possibility.
"No, I think he's right. We do know Crowler lost to a Slifer Red which is why he hates us so much," Konrad told Hiroto. "I didn't think it was Jaden, though."
"Jay's really good, Konami! Trust me! But, You have to see it to believe it." Syrus happily spoke with a grin.
"Well, if you really did defeat Crowler, then if I beat you in a duel…I would be undoubtedly the best duelist of this island!" Hiroto said as a smile crept across his face. "Grab your deck, Slifer, we're gonna duel right here, right now!" With that, the Ra Yellow equipped himself with his duel disk and inserted his deck into it, all before pointing at Jaden.
"Heh," Jaden returned the smile with his own, "If it's a duel you want, you'll get one! Let's get our game on!" The Slifer Red boy said as he pulled out his duel disk and got it ready.
"Wait, is this really the time for a duel?" Konrad asked. "It isn't, but there's no stopping Jaden when he gets fired up like this." Chumley replied. "He accepts any challenge."
"Yep, just sit back and enjoy the show." Syrus told Konrad. "It probably won't be very long when it's Jay dueling."
"Uh, alright then. Let's see if Jaden really is that good." Konrad said as he watched the duel unfold. He wanted to witness Jaden's skill, now that he is curious about it. And most importantly, to see where he stands.
Author's notes:
Here it is, Chapter 3. Sorry if it is shorter than the two previous chapters but I had to split it into as it was getting too big for a single chapter. Hell, Chapter 4, which was originally part of Chapter 3, is even bigger than Chapter 1. Especially when I thought it would be a very short duel. I am also looking forward to having the canon characters duel, too. I don't think I'll be doing duels from the shows unless I want to put my own spin into them; So I'd rather focus on having new duels.
Please Read and Review, And I'll see you all in the next chapter.
