Sarah Jane Adventures X Doctor Who

A Yellow Christmas

Chapter Three

The sun remained locked behind the darkening clouds in the gray-colored sky. A light breeze whisks past Sarah Jane Smith, causing her to shiver. While she loved the holidays, she wasn't a fan of the weather,

Still wandering the street of Bannerman Road with her eyes darting from left to right, Sarah Jane kept a lookout for anything out of the ordinary, especially yellow snowmen. It was strange she could picture many children laughing with snowballs flying an epic snowball fight Clyde would call them, but now there was no laughing, only silence.

A beeping noise jerk Sarah Jane back to reality. Before looking down at her watch, her eyes fell upon a large oval shape in the yellow snow. The closer she moved towards it, the louder her watch became. Looking down at her watch, a sigh escaped her lips as she shook her head in disbelief.

"It can't be," Sarah Jane uttered.

Sarah Jane looked around as she spotted more and more of these oval yellow shaped cocoons. No matter which one she scanned, they all had the same reading... human.

"Oh, this isn't good," Sarah Jane said with a hint of worry.

Just then Sarah Jane felt something buzzing in her pocket. Pulling it out she realized it was her mobile, but just as she held it up to her ear she spotted a bouncing yellow snowman. Diving behind a snow-covered car, she peeked her head out and sighed as she watches the snowman turned down a side street.

Holding her mobile back up to her ear a smile appears upon her lips for she was glad to hear her super computer's voice.

"I have completed the analysis on the yellow substance," Mr. Smith bellowed.

"And?" Sarah Jane asked.

"It is an alien enzyme hazardous to organic life forms, because of the Earth's frigid atmosphere it has arrived on in the form of ice droplets, hence the yellow snow," Mr. Smith said.

Sarah Jane swallowed a lump in her throat as she felt the fear rise within her.

"Is this word wide?" Sarah Jane asked.

"Not at the moment, but from the weather radars snow will be in the forecast for most of the world in under three days," Mr. Smith replied.

"I've found some yellow snow cocoons with humans inside them. Tell me this doesn't mean what I think it does?" Sarah Jane asked.

"If you are talking about a harvest, you would be correct; the human race is being prepped for consumption," Mr. Smith replied.

Rising to her feet Sarah Jane did her best to clear her head, but she knew this would be impossible to do alone but it doesn't mean she wouldn't try.

Soon Sarah Jane's ears picked up a shuffling noise she turned around to stare into the eyes of the bouncing yellow snowman. Swallowing hard, Sarah Jane backed up slowly as the snowman bounced closer and closer.

"Alert, the alien enzyme can animate objects," Mr. Smith blasted over the phone.

"Yeah, I know," Sarah Jane uttered.

With her eyes on the snowman, Sarah Jane's heart skipped a beat when she heard another noise. Turning her head, she noticed another yellow snowman right behind her. Tilting her head, her eyes widen as the snowman's mouth opened. Thinking quickly, Sarah Jane jumped out of the way as a thick yellow slush spurted out of its mouth, covering the other snowman.

Letting her feet do the talking, Sarah Jane took off running with two snowmen on her tail.

Breathing hard as her legs struggle to keep her afloat, Sarah Jane tried to figure out what her next move should be. But the moment she jumped over two snow cocoons in the street, her watch beeped like crazy. Thinking it was just another human reading she kept on moving but she stopped when Mr. Smith's voice caught her attention.

"Time Lord signature located," Mr. Smith bellowed.

Looking down at the two cocoons, she quickly scanned them again, one read human and the other Time Lord. With the two snowmen coming this way, Sarah Jane had a choice to make. Taking a deep breath, she pulled out her sonic lipstick from her bag. Turning it up to the highest setting, she stood her ground, unsure what would happen.

Once the snowmen were in sight, their mouths grew wide. Sarah Jane stood ready, but just as they were about to spit, a hand burst out of one of the snow cocoons holding a sonic screwdriver. Sarah Jane aimed her lipstick at the other sonic, and within seconds a sonic wave erupted. The two snowmen started shaking until they exploded, as did the two snow cocoons.

Slipping her sonic back in her bag, Sarah Jane ran over only to look into the eyes of a shivering Doctor and a lifeless woman beside him. She couldn't help but notice the woman looked awfully familiar.

"C...Clara," The Doctor said.

Sarah Jane bent down to the ground and placed two fingers up to Clara's neck. She nodded, then looked back to The Doctor.

"She has a heartbeat, but we need to warm her up," Sarah Jane said.

The Time Lord nodded as he rose to his feet. He moved over Sarah Jane and lifted Clara into his arms.

Not saying another word, Sarah Jane picked up his sonic screwdriver and lead the way. But alas, their moment of peace was short-lived, for more yellow snowmen were bouncing towards them. The Doctor noticed them right away as he tightens his hold on Clara.

"Will you be fine with her?" Sarah Jane asked.

"Of course," The Doctor said.

"Good, because we need to run," Sarah Jane replied.

With a nod, The Doctor took off running with Sarah Jane right behind him and the snowmen not too far behind.

Well, Sarah Jane got the help she needed to save the world, but the question now is how were they going to do it.
