Christmas Time was NOW.
The last two days, the Class 3-A decided to take it easy and simply chill within the dorms, opting for lighter versions of day one, doing whatever and being calm, yet still absolutely hilarious about it.
And now it was time for the nighttime Christmas party at the Yaoyorozu mansion, and a ton of people were here.
Once they had put on the clothing they needed for today, Izuku and Kyoka were picked up and given a ride from an embarrassingly enthusiastic Kyotoku and Mika, and in no time they were parked outside the gates of Momo's home.
"Woah…" Izuku breathed out in amazement the second he stepped out of the car belonging to the Jiro's, the air coming out of his mouth crystallized by the cold air of gently snowing day.
His attire for the occasion was a nice white long-sleeved dress shirt with the collar folded, a buttoned up dark green waistcoat with short coattails paired with a properly done red tie (thanks to Kyoka), dark green slacks with black belt wrapped around, and of course, no outfit of Izuku would go without some red shoes (although this time the red was much tamer compared to the gaudy levels that came with his usual ones).
"I know. That was my reaction the first time I came here." Kyoka said right next to him with a laugh and grin. A wide and long box wrapped up in Christmas themed wrapping hung by a strap on her shoulder.
She had a coat covering her bare skin that was a result of her wearing the very same (only bigger version) dress that she had put on to the reception party way back when on I-Island, which included the same open black punk-ish shirt, pink-mini skirt, grey leggings, black choker, pink dress shoes, the swept to the side hairstyle and pink flower accessory on her head.
"Now, no more staring at the mansion, Greenie!" Kyoka laughed and surprised Izuku by hooking her arms around his and dragging him forward. "It's a party in there, and we don't have any excuse to be late!"
"O-okay!" Izuku replied with a smile and a blush.
The two lovers ran towards the open doors, where butlers and maids dressed in sharp red and fluffy white postiviley greeted them and welcomed them in, and Kyotoku and Mika watched at the adorable and heartwarming sight with whimsical and approving smiles.
"And to think she tore up the sheet music I made when they got together! I SO would've played the song tonight if I had it!" Kyotoku snickered gleefully with a close eyed smile.
"Honey, you know that would kill Kyoka with how much it would embarrass her!" Mika reprimanded her dear, not at all sounding harsh as her light smile contradicted her.
"Oh shush! Don't pretend that you wouldn't do the same!"
"... I wouldn't do so in front of an audience." Mika countered adamantly with a playful grin.
Kyotoku chuckled more.
"Yeah, right!"
THE best Christmas!
The ballroom was vibrant with a velvety red carpet and golden lights that hung from the ceiling. Luxurious dishes laid upon the handful of white clothed tables, and a scaffolding stage rested against the wall opposite to the door that also held up a gigantic Christmas tree.
So many people, so much talking, so much eating, and a little bit of drinking here and there. And all of it was put to a halt when Mr. Yaoyorozu stepped up to the scaffolding stage and tapped onto the mic.
"Everybody!"
The many students and parents present gave their attention to the host, awaiting what he had to announce.
"As you are all aware, today is quite the monumental day. The final Christmas my daughter and her dearest will spend within U.A.!" Mr. Yaoyorozu stated, sparing a glance at the couple of the topic as they smiled and waved at him, to which both gestures he gladly returned before returning to all of the audience. "And normally, such a thing would warrant a grandiose and meaningful speech, wouldn't it?"
The combined effort to suppress a groan could be heard from a lot of the people present, and it made the groom of the Yaoyorozu's suppress an amused laugh at their reactions.
"However!" Mr. Yaoyorozu yelled, making every perk up and returning the attention to him. The man grinned openly, taking up the champagne glass offered to him by one of the many butlers and raising it up high! "I say FORGET about that part of this celebration! All of you are here to talk to one another, to eat to drink, to love and to receive your presents! And that is what you shall do!"
The sudden change in demeanor surprised everybody, but their change was just as swift as everybody smiled, smirked and beamed with excitement.
"Now what are you all waiting for! You're already wasting some precious time, so forget about this elder and live your life, right now!"
And that was exactly what all the students, heroes and the parents did with that announcement as noise was made once again, people cheering and laughing amongst their groups as the Christmas party had finally, truy begun.
"Yaoyorozu-san is a very cool man, isn't he?" Izuku postiviley whispered to Kyoka as he glanced at the retreating business man.
Kyoka giggled playfully. "I dunno, he parallels my dad a bit too much."
"And… that's a bad thing?" Izuku questioned her with a raised brow.
"Weeeeeeellllllllllllll…" She drawled dramatically.
Both of them shared a good chuckle. He reached out to the tray on the table next to them and picked up two wine glasses filled with champagne, handing one to her.
"Merry Christmas, Kyo!" Izuku exclaimed with a blinding closed eyed smile.
Kyoka giggled and covered her eyes before tapping her glass with Izuku's. "Merry Christmas, Green Sun!"
"And a soon to come Happy New Year!" Mina and Tooru exclaimed loudly to them.
The cool coloured couple gazed at the bubbly pair and were pleasantly surprised to see them hold out two pairs of neatly wrapped presents to them.
"F-for us?" Izuku stuttered with a dopey smile.
"Yeeep~!" Mina sang with a wide grin. "You gifted us that matching pair of unicorn keychains this morning, and we held out on giving you these because we wanted to give you them right now!"
The presents were shoved into their hands so suddenly, and Mina and Tooru would NOT be the last ones.
"The same goes for the rest you guys!" Mina shouted.
"H-huh?"
"Wha… What do you mean for the rest-?"
"Alright!"
Izuku and Kyoka yelped and jumped when they were surrounded by their classmates, gifts coming in left, right, upfront and from behind, and in the end they were left teetering when their arms were filled with Christmas presents of different sizes and hefts. All of the class laughed in jolly joy as the green and purple pair struggled to properly set their presents down, and once they did they were able to sigh in relief before excitement filled them with how many gifts they needed to get through.
"On the topic of presents," Kyoka spoke up after their little break, and she reached for the wrapped up box she had left behind, picking it up and joyously handing it to Izuku, "here!"
Izuku graciously took it. The minute he saw the bag and its color he knew who it was going to, and it made him shake with how much he was anticipating his receival of it.
But he was not prepared for what the contents of the box were.
As soon as he removed the wrapping and lifted up the cover, he gasped in shock to see a dark green guitar case, shaped to leave the kind of instrument ambiguous until he opened it. And when he undid the locks and opened the case, Izuku was shown a black electric guitar with HIS initials "I. M." written in neon green, jagged letters and placed underneath the bridge and saddles.
"K-Kyoka! How much did this cost?!" Izuku loudly asked, standing up with an audible whizz and putting on a disbelieving and beaming smile.
Kyoka giggled awkwardly as she twirled her earlobe. "I, uh… I had to splurge quite a bit with how much allowance I saved. Would've lost a lot more if Mom didn't feel generous at the time."
Izuku would've said something about Kyoka spending that much money for him, but he was too overcome with how happy he was right now! He couldn't resist the temptation to pick up his new instrument, hug it firmly, and smooch it on its body!
"Awesome! This is way too awesome- hahaha!" Izuku laughed joyfully as looked at his own reflection in the glossy finish of his new guitar.
Kyoka wasn' able to stop herself from laughing and loving Izuku's reaction to her gift, and it made her awkwardness fade, replaced with the delight and fondness that came from Izuku loving her present.
"Totally worth it though." She whispered to herself.
After Izuku took a moment to put his hand over his heart and breath in deeply, Kyoka came up from behind and kissed his cheek, surprising him and getting him to lightly blush. He turned around and Kyoka wrapped her arms around him, giving him a playful grin right after.
"And I do hope you have a present as good as this, otherwise this stays in MY room!" She teased.
Izuku tensed at that, but… not for the reason at hand. His blush became more apparent as he quickly silenced himself and he found his mind wandering. It confused Kyoka as to why he was so quiet now, and she tilted her head curiously.
"Izuku?" Kyoka called with a little worry.
"Well… actually…" Izuku muttered with more sheepishness than usual, something that threw Kyoka off for a bit before she laughed and smiled at him reassuringly.
"Hehe, hey, I was just kidding! You're keeping that guitar with or without a present for m-!"
"N-no! No! I did get you something!" Izuku stopped her with his slightly panicked clarification.
It made Kyoka jump with how he suddenly cut her off and cleared her misconception, and now she was even more curious. What did her boyfriend get her for Christmas?
Izuku scratched at his freckled cheek and put on a shy, but excited wobbly smile. "I… I-I just think I need to wait for the perfect ti-"
"Save some love for meeeeeee!" a young, eager and attention wanting voice interjected.
Izuku and Kyoka jolted and rotated their heads to the new voice, and immediately the awkward situation was made null and void when they saw Eri, running towards them wearing a cute and simple white dress and mini heels. Kyoka resisted the urge to coo at the top of her voice when she saw the little snow lady, and Izuku immediately opened his arms up to welcome his illegitimate daughter.
"Urg…!" Izuku grunted when he felt the little snow rocket tackle into him, and lifted her up until they were at eye level. He smiled at her so that he could show that he was just as happy to see her again. "Hello, beautiful! How did you find your way here?"
"Granny Inko and Grandpa Toshi, of course!" Eri exclaimed with the most adorable grin, and then her attention turned the other party members who were staring at the cute moment. "Also, hi everybody!"
"Aw~!/Oooooh~!/Helloooo~!" Coos, squeals and returned greetings were given in response to the unicorn princess' hello.
Kyoka came in and hugged both of them tight after that heart melting moment, and she smooched Eri on the cheek deeply, getting her to giggle with how he lips and breath tickled her skin.
"Oh~! How was your time at the Bakugo's, you precious little rascal?" Kyoka questioned with the widest, happiest smirk.
"So much fun! Great Auntie Mitsuki and Great Uncle Masaru are always super nice and fun!" Eri happily responded with a nod.
"Aw~, there you go, not missing me at all~!"
"Wha- h-hey! I said I do miss you! I'll say it as many times as I need to until you believe me!"
Izuku beamed because of his little family reuniting and catching up, and with both of them distracting each other, he turned around and saw his lovely mother and his recent and beloved step-father coming towards him.
Izuku broadened his smile, and with a little jog, he came up to surprise Inko and Toshinori as he wrapped his strong arms around them.
"Merry Christmas, Young Izuku!" Toshinori greeted warmly as his own smile grew.
"Merry Christmas, dear!" Inko exclaimed as she held her son just as tight.
"Great to see you two here!" Izuku responded, moving back a little to gaze at them with his shining eyes.
"Couldn't miss this celebration even if it was the end of the world, young man! Hahaha!" Toshinori laughed in a way reminiscent of his days as All Might, and broke away from Izuku so that he could hold something out. "After all, the importance of this day goes beyond even that."
Izuku widened his eyes when the former number one hero held out a miniature purple bag, and he immediately took and blushed.
"T-thanks, Sensei! And, uh… thanks for… you know… h-h-helping he buy it!" Izuku said graciously, sparing a shy but excited look at Kyoka. "Now… w-when to show it to her…"
"Bah, enough with the unease and insecurity, boy!" Toshinori shouted and came up to the young adult, slamming his hands onto his shoulders, making him flinch, and giving him an encouraging smirk and thumbs-up. "You're a man now! A man who has defeated villains, saved, protected and helped innocent lives, and a man who has lost his V-Card with pri-!"
"Toshi!" Inko interrupted the blonde man strictly, both she and Izuku blushing with the topic he was about to bring up.
Toshinori chuckled openly before he resumed. "The point is: you, Izuku my boy, have conquered so many obstacles and challenges prior to this. So there's no doubt in my mind, and there should not be a doubt in yours, when I say that you can do this!"
Izuku teared up and the unwavering support he was shown, and he sniffed loudly before he released a waterfall that would flood the entire room. He smiled at Toshinori with as much strength as he could and nodded up and down rapidly. "Umu! I CAN do this! And I'll make you proud, All Might!"
"Perfect!"
Inko giggled into the back of her hand at the two men and their emotional moment. But then her eyes softened as she stared at Izuku, and she brought out the wrapped up box in her purse.
"By the way, Izuku?" Inko called.
"Mum?" Izuku hummed in response.
"I have something else for you."
The mother Midoriya stepped forward and handed her boy the present, and Izuku released a surprised breath when he saw who the gifted was.
From your father: Hisashi Midoriya, gimme a call if you want to talk.
"So how are things going on over in America?"
"Good! Income is coming in steadily and as of now, crime is pretty low with villain sightings going from little to none!"
"That's a relief."
Izuku was alone now, on top of the balcony above the ballroom, and that was where he would press on a contact number in his phone that he hadn't pressed in a while.
Things were… awkward between Izuku and dear old Hisashi. They always made sure to stay in contact from the day him and Inko were divorced, and he'd always come on over to Japan from America whenever his job didn't clutter his schedule. But not being a prominent figure in Izuku's life meant that it was initially a little difficult for Hisashi to really connect with him.
And even after they got over that awkward hurdle, the two remained as the dorks they were and would sometimes leave the mood and atmosphere as… just that. A little awkward.
"And, uh… how are things for you, son?" Hisashi asked politely.
Although his father wouldn't be able to see it, Izuku smiled broadly as he recalled the events that occurred in the past few days. "Great! The entire week has been a blast! And the party right now is going to be one for a brochure!"
Izuku wanted the conversation to remain as smooth and as positive as possible with his quick and happy response, and that was why he was visibly confused when he heard Hisashi release a deep sigh, while his tone grew sentimental and… sad.
"That's great… really great…"
…
…
…
"Hey, Izuku, I… I-I just… I want you to know that I really wanted to be there with you for today, but..."
At first, Izuku made a look of surprise because of his das's soft, melancholy and lightly fearful tone. But immediately after and smiled softly, knowing full well where this was coming from, and soon he relaxed and his smile transformed into a chill smirk.
"But you couldn't because you're on the other side of the world and you and the job is keeping you back. I know Dad." He finished for his father, understanding and forgiving. "You should stop the idea that I resent you for it at all."
"... Still…"
Izuku sighed minorly, relaxing his gentle grin. "You'll come to visit as soon as you're free, right?"
"... Of course I will. Eri needs to meet her second grandparent after all." Hisashi responded, slowly losing his serious tone and replacing it with a much more enjoyably humorous one.
"Yeah- hehe." Izuku laughed genuinely, causing his dad to do the same.
"So did you open the present yet?" Hisashi asked after the end of his chuckling.
"Not yet!" Izuku exclaimed as he brought up the box from the ground. "Uh… gimme a sec…"
A bit of wrapping tearing later, and Izuku was confronted with a pearl white box without any sort of logo or branding of any kind. It got the aspiring hero's curiosity rising, and excitedly he lifted up the lid.
And the contents of the case made Izuku gasp with eyes wide open.
It was a black coloured headset. An expensive set that was both that and it had a peculiar design; built in stereos on the outer side of the cans with many green buttons surrounding those stereos, as well as a mini screen that displayed vibrant green words.
"Woah…!" Izuku breathed out in amazement
"So you like it?" Hisashi chuckled heartily from the other side. "It's the latest in headphone and speaker tech: The Ultra Phones - OnePlus version."
"D-dad… i-it's so damn cool!" Izuku shouted with a wide, disbelieving smile that threatened to crack his face in two. "This doubles as a headset and a speaker?!"
"And you can even store the songs you play on it so that you don't need to carry your phone with it."
"Dad, thanks so much! I've already gotten a ton of amazing presents and this is UP there!"
"Your welcome kid."
Izuku quickly rested his new gift on his neck, enjoying how comfortably soft the material of its headband was, and he was ready to go on and mutter out even more questions for Hisashi to answer.
That was… until someone stopped him.
"Dekuuuu!"
"Eh?!" Izuku yelped when his hero name was loudly called, and he looked to the stairs inside to see Katsuki irritably approaching.
"You damn veggie loving snail! If you are not down in the next few minutes, you're gonna miss out on the dancing! So don't take that long with your old man!" Katsuki shouted at him sternly… although he really wasn't doing much to hide the fact that he was doing this for Izuku's sake. And that was all the exploding hero said before he whipped around and stomped away.
"KA~TSU~KI~! WHERE'S MY DANCE BOIYO~?!"
"HE'S ON HIS WAY, CAMS! SHUSH AND PREPARE FOR THE DANCE OF A LIFETIME!"
Izuku was left to restlessly laugh, and he knew he needed to wrap things up now. "Hehehe, yeah dad, uh, gotta get going. I've got a lady waiting for me after all."
"Then stop wasting away on the balcony and get to your Melody Maiden already!" Hisashi shouted positively, and Izuku just knew he had an encouraging smile on his face. "And make sure to introduce her to that headset!"
"I will, I will! Bye, Dad!" Izuku nodded his head a bunch and bid farewell, moving his phone away from his ear and hovering his finger over the "end" button.
"Son!"
Izuku stopped with a flinch though when Hisashi called him one last time, and he rested his phone over his ear to listen to his last words before they parted.
"Love you…"
…
…
…
"I love you too, Dad…"
(Play: 22 - Oasis ~ MS Gundam IBO (OST I) - [ZR])
Kyoka had gone up to the balcony to see if Izuku would come back soon, and when she saw him the way he was… she felt light when she saw how he looked, and the music playing on his new headset was just adding to that warm feeling.
Well, he already looked damn good as was, obviously, and adding on top of his looks was the fancy clothing he was wearing for this party. Both of which looked stunning and already got her thinking about kissing him beforehand and right now, and the colorful city lights behind him only enhanced that want in her heart.
But then the rocker saw the look on her hero's face.
The elation, the entirely relaxed posture, the warmhearted joy, the serene smile on his lips. It was all just too... gorgeous, and a part of Kyoka wondered what happened between Izuku and Hisashi up on the balcony prior to his return, along with wanting to know what was up with the new badass headphones on his neck.
But those bits of curiosity were of secondary importance. After all, it was time to dance soon, and Kyoka was ready and willing to get into place and take things slow with the man she loved.
"Someone looks happy." Kyoka commented softly, smiling as she walked towards Izuku to slip her arms under his own and hold him close, loving the warmth he provided that just about beat the cold of the snow falling around them, and inciting him to do the same as Izuku surrounded her with his arms
"Yeah… I really am…" Izuku whispered into her ear, shudders traveling down her spine as she could hear the plain bliss in his beautiful voice.
Kyoka grinned even wider as she looked up to him. "Wanna tell me why?"
"I… think I'll save it for later, we have more important things to get to."
"True, true." Kyoka agreed. Her face lit up in anticipation right after and she tugged on Izuku's arm, pointing to the ballroom. "So let's get to it! They're not gonna wait for us foreve…"
The words in Kyoka's mouth died down when Izuku brought up the purple bag he had in hand, and he presented it to her while looking equal parts nervous and equal parts overjoyed. And on top of that was the heartbeat she could hear as plain as she could see him; even without placing her jacks against the surface of Izuku's chest, she could hear it thumping.
"W… what is it?" Kyoka asked, both for what the present was and what was getting Izuku like this.
Izuku breathed in to calm down… everything. His apprehensiveness, his excitement, and his heart rate that expressed both emotions. He was doing something BIG afterall. Something bigger than being a hero, something bigger than defeating any of the villains he had beforehand, something bigger than when he first asked Kyoka to be his girlfriend.
"Kyoka, I love you…"
Kyoka was surprised with the sudden affection, but she felt happy hearing that, and immediately was going to respond.
"I love yo- mmn…?" Her reply was stopped when Izuku pushed her away gently, shushing her with a finger to her lips and grinning even more jovially.
Kyoka got the message and kept silent, eagerly awaiting what Izuku wanted (needed) to say.
"You… you're the best thing that's happened to me Kyoka." Izuku stated, forcing himself to not get teary eyed as he continued. "T-the greatest moments of my life happened in these past few years when you came into it and changed it permanently. You've done so much for me that it'd be hard to list everything."
… Kyoka felt like she would never breathe again.
When Izuku finished that part of his speech, he reached into the purple bag and pulled out a tiny wrapped up gift, and gently he tore the wrapping away to unveil a light purple box.
She didn't want to jump the gun, she really did not.
But… the setting was just too perfect. A fancy Christmas party, an exchange of valuable gifts, high and happy spirits, and Izuku had just finished with an emotional talk with his dad and was looking better than he almost ever has.
The music ended, and all that was left was them, the snow, and what was about to happen.
'I… i-is he…?' Kyoka wondered in complete disbelief, and against her will, she could feel tears pooling underneath her eyes.
"... I love you, my beautiful Kyoka." Izuku said with his voice brimmed with love and adoration for her while the pounding in his heart got even stronger, and he willed himself to not stutter. "I love you. I adore you. I don't want to even think about living life without you in it. Because you mean the world to me. You mean more than when I met All Might and received One for All. You mean more than when I got into U.A. and had a chance at being a hero. You mean more than becoming a hero."
Izuku never looked more hopeful and happy than he was now, and he wasn't holding back his own tears as drips fell down his freckled cheeks.
Kyoka swore that she might pass out. Her heart was soaring and never ending in increasing pace, her face flushed with red that grew stronger and stronger, and her eyes would never be wider than they were now with her tears finally falling with each and every one of her beloved's passing words.
And when Izuku opened the purple box, Kyoka felt bold enough to claim that she was the luckiest and happiest woman in the world.
Nothing else would ever matter more than now. No gift she could receive later on would be better than the silver ring with an amethyst jewel in the center sitting inside the box she was being given.
"I love you, Kyoka Jiro…"
Izuku's knee was starting to bend.
"And… I-I'd like to know if you'd-!"
He didn't even get to finish.
Kyoka lunged forward and tackled Izuku, both of them spinning around as they embraced and kissed each other. And when they separated to gaze into each other's eyes, Izuku felt his heart stop when he saw the beautiful and wide smile on Kyoka's face.
"Yes! Yes, yes, yes, yes, YES! My answer will always be yes! I will marry you, Izuku!" Kyoka cried with unrivalled happiness and bliss, and her tears became waterfalls as she kissed Izuku deeply once again.
Both of them became unaware of everything around them; the cold of winter, the snow melting on their skin, the lights all around them, the dance they were supposed to partake in, and the little mistletoe over their heads. All of it was inconsequential now, because they were relishing in what was the best moment in this holiday to remember- in their entire lives.
The newly married duo serrated for air, wiping away the tears of happiness on their faces.
Izuku smiled at her, the brightest, the most joyous, and the most amazing smile Kyoka would ever see.
"So… what happens now?"
Kyoka giggled at her new husband (god that was amazing just to even think about), and she brought her hands up to wrap her arms around his neck.
"What do you think, Mr. Midoriya?"
