Sarah Jane Adventures x Doctor Who
A Yellow Christmas
Chapter Five
Clara remained by the window watching another set of Snowmen bouncing down the street with another car rolling between them dragging more cocoons. She glances down at Sarah Jane Smith was on the floor beside her; She tilted her head as she watched the woman with a normal screwdriver in her hands. She seemed to screw in the last of the screws on a small round circular object.
"Is that a tracker?" Clara asked.
"Yes, the Doctor had it in the pocket of his blazer," Sarah Jane replied.
"Regarding our talk from before, I don't think you're okay with not hearing from your son or his friends," Clara said.
A shuttered breath escaped Sarah Jane's lips, but she forced a smile across them. She refused to let herself give in to how she felt about it. Clara laid her hand on Sarah Jane's as she bent down, looking into her friend's eyes.
"That's why I keep busy...it makes it easier to handle," Sarah Jane replied.
Before either woman could say another word, they could hear footsteps from behind them along with the whiff of a familiar smell.
The Doctor had returned from the kitchen with three mugs of freshly brewed coffee. Clara gladly took a mug, and the Doctor handed one of them to Sarah before taking a sip from his mug.
"Ah, I see you got it ready," The Doctor said.
Sarah Jane nodded as she took a sip from her mug, while The Doctor stared at the now small floating device. He glanced to Sarah Jane, giving her a nod. Clara pushed up the window as the device zipped outside toward the snowmen. It then hovered in place before burring itself inside one snowman's balls of snow.
Tossing the Doctor his sonic screwdriver, he held it up as it glowed. He moved it around as he picked up on the direction the snowmen were going.
"Well, with that done, I think it's about time we leave," Sarah Jane said before taking another sip from her mug.
Clara nodded as she took another sip from her mug, but The Doctor set down his mug and followed the direction the sonic was leading him he then stopped and arched his eyebrow.
"Isn't your home this way?" The Time Lord asked.
Sarah Jane noticed the way the Doctor had turned it was upward. Her eyes widen as she set down her mug and pulled out her mobile. Dialing a number, she held the phone up to her ear. Her mobile would ring, but after a few moments, not even a dial tone could be heard. Within seconds Sarah Jane was up on her feet when a thought too scary to think of ran through her head. But Before either Clara or The Doctor stopped her, Sarah Jane ran out the door. The Doctor gave chase with Clara running right behind him.
Outside, Sarah Jane dived behind cars and hid behind trees with her mind pushed into overdrive. For she didn't want to think about why she couldn't reach Mr. Smith. But it didn't take long for The Doctor and Clara to catch up with her.
"Stop, tell us what's wrong?" Clara asked.
Sarah Jane merely looked to The Doctor who knew what that meant.
"Mr. Smith…" He muttered.
Sarah Jane merely nod, she tried to get free, but The Doctor refused to let her go, especially when another wave of snowmen whisks by. The three of them ducked behind a fence of a home just a few houses away from Sarah Jane's.
"No… please don't let it be," Sarah Jane uttered.
"What or who is Mr. Smith?" Clara asked.
Taking a deep breath, Sarah Jane calmed down and looked directly into Clara's eyes, who seemed taken back by this.
"In my attic, I have a supercomputer named Mr. Smith, he's a Xylox who helps me keep the world safe. If these snowmen have him under their control…" Sarah Jane trailed off.
"Oh… then the world truly won't make it past Christmas Eve, let alone Christmas day," Clara said, finally understanding.
"I need to get closer…" Sarah Jane whispered.
The moment the coast was clear, Sarah Jane, The Doctor, and Clara crept closer to house number thirteen. But as they grew closer Sarah Jane stopped dead in her tracks, for her home was surrounded by yellow snowmen, big and small. The cocoons were being rolled in the backyard by some snowmen, while others were spraying the house with yellow goo. But it refused to stick for, some kind of force field was preventing any of it to get through.
The moment another set of snowmen bounced up, the trio took cover behind a car that was just a house away from hers. Just then Sarah Jane's phone vibrated, pulling out it read Mr. Smith. Taking a deep breath, she held the phone up to her ear.
"Sar… Sarah… Jane…" A struggling Mr. Smith bellowed.
"I know you are not okay, but I need you to hold on a little longer," Sarah Jane said.
"….. shields… a..at 50%…." The supercomputer said before disconnecting.
Sarah Jane slipped the phone back into her pocket and sighed. But she was determined more than ever to save Mr. Smith. Pulling out her sonic lipstick, she turned it up to the highest setting as she peered around the car looking at her home.
Soon a familiar bouncing sound reached their ears The Doctor turned behind him and Sarah Jane looked behind her. The two aimed their sonic screwdrivers and shoved them into both snowmen. With seconds they both exploded as the three of them rose to their feet.
"Enough hiding its time to fight,"
