Chapter 5.

Bella's POV

She had stayed at his house for the whole afternoon. She had wanted to stay more, but her father was the Chief of police and he would notice if she wasn't back by nightfall.

If breaking up with Edward had taken all the strength she thought she had, leaving Sam was something even more daunting.

His eyes were dark and hunted. "When will you be back?" He whispered.

She trembled at the sound of his voice. She could still feel him whispering in her ears while burning with him in encompassing passion and wanted to ask him lots of things.

What were they now? Could she call him his? Was this only something physical? But all she said was "I don't know."

The burning passion that he had evoked in her was still there, demanding that she ask him to take her back into his house and lavish her in all his undiluted desire.

He had kissed and touched every inch of her, and still she felt that it wasn't enough. These feelings scared her in a way that she didn't know how to deal with.

She was just out of a relationship in which she felt weak, always ready to please Edward's requests lest he leave her or make her feel guilty for not agreeing with him.

Would a relationship with Sam be different? Every time her eyes had met his, she had felt like she would give him anything if only he asked.

The difference though was that Sam seemed taken with her the same way she was with him.

"I have to go now." She hesitated and then she whispered. "I will be back soon."

Was she lying to him? Probably. She didn't think she could go back to him because the burning passion that he elicited was more than scary. It was unsettling and at the same time he had become a crave for her. His eyes, his mouth, his hands and his body were all she could think about.

"Really?" He replied. From how he asked it, she knew that he knew that she was lying. "What is it Bella? I thought that we both wanted this..." And with his hand gestured at the two of them.

She sighed, why was she always complicating everything? "I do, but I really need some time to... process everything. Sam, it's not you... it's just that I... need time." It wasn't a lie, all she felt that afternoon with him was something that she had dreamed to share with another man, and now she was probably still shell shocked at the idea that all she had built with Edward had crumbled to pieces and all she wanted was the man in front of her.

"I understand." He said, looking at her with his dark intense eyes. "I will be the one to visit you then. I will leave you some time to think it over and, in a few days, I will be knocking at your door. How's that sound?"

She smiled, she complicated things and he made them simple. "I would really like that. It's a date." She stepped back from him, reluctantly. "I really have to go."

He took a step back, and in doing so she noticed that his hands were closed into fists. "See you soon."

Bella left without looking back, she knew that if she turned and he was still there she wouldn't make it home.

She drove, holding the steering wheel very tight. The burning passion wasn't relenting its old, the farther she was from him the greater she felt the need to go back into his arms.

Sam's POV

Sam watched her leaving, his mind and his body were still burning for her. He could still feel the softness of her skin, and how she felt under him. He has been difficult to let her go, because he had wanted to keep her in his bed for as long as his body had the strength to take her.

His trembling started to increase, Sam knew there was darkness in him that threatened to get out, Bell had kept the demons away, but right now he was alone in his torment. He felt like he was running a fever, but at the same time his strength was increasing.

A spasm caused him to kneel on the floor, pain like no other engulfed him. There was only pain, and darkness, and the only thing that kept him sane was the image of Bella, of her eyes and her smile.

When the pain subsided, he opened his eyes and noticed that he wasn't human anymore. He started running into the forest until he reached a small river, the image that was looking back at him was of a huge black wolf.

And now what? He thought.

The animal in him and the darkness engulfed him again, and Sam went all wolf.

Nothing mattered at that moment, but there was a small sliver of humanity that was still keeping his mind sane, and a word that resonated strongly.

Bella, Bella, Bella.

She was his and at the same time he knew his wolf wanted her too.
