A large amount of blades ran up through my foot, my leg and thigh. I roared in pain as I fell backwards as more sliced open my back and destroyed my generator, then came the sharp numbing pain as my tail was sliced off. Immediately I shrunk down and fell to the ground, my leg next to destroyed. I looked at him as a wave of blades raced towards me, and Kirishima jumped in the way, his whole body hardened. When the incoming attack hit him, it didn't cut him, instead he held it back as the blades bent and shattered. "RED RIOT UNBREAKABLE!" He ran towards the villain, blades cutting away at his hero costume, breaking his way through until we was point blank and landed a thunderous blow on the beasts maw breaking it before following it up with a blow to the ribs, the wet crunch was followed by a gargled wheeze.
Gut blow, chest, face, gut, face, over and over and over. The two fought back and forth, blood spilling from both until. "RED GUN TURRET!" One mighty blow felled the abomination, it fell to the ground, unconscious. "That's... what... you get!" He shouted to the night sky as Paramedics ran over along with Fatgum.
"Oh, god!" He looked at the... whatever he had become... Then at me. "It'll be alright, we'll get you to the hospital." The paramedics tied up my leg to stop the bleeding. "Kirishima, go with him! I'll make sure the Villain is detained!" He yelled as I was loaded up onto a ambulance. The pain was numb... all I could feel was that pain from where my tail should be.
Kirishima got in and grabbed my shoulder. "It'll be alright little buddy. I'm here." But my vision was fading from the blood loss.
Chapter 89: Recovery
I scrunched up my face as the world came into focus, stars dancing in my eyes. I sat up and saw Amajiki, Fatgum and Kirishima at the foot of my bed as a doctors hand glowed green over my leg, "What happened?" I said as a nurse tried to push me back down.
"Oh, Astero, you are awake!" Kirishima rushed to my side, cuts on his body bandaged stained red. "We thought we lost you there a few times."
"You are a lucky young man, had you not been rushed here as quick as you were, we may not have been able to save your tail, though there will be a lose of feeling for a few days." The doctor said sweat dripping from his brow as he tended to my leg. My tail curled in on it's self, but it felt... wrong, like it was damaged in more then getting cut off. "You are lucky that your transformation quirk minimized the damage, keeping your bones from breaking or getting cut apart." He stood up. "Take it easy for the next few days, don't try transforming for the next week at least." He and the nurse left.
"You did well Tech, you did what a hero is meant to do. Protect." Fatgum placed a hand on my shoulder, but I could only look at the mess of scars that covered my leg.
"Y-you may want to have a look at this." Amajiki said as he handed me a photo of my own back, sewn up and bloody, "If... my quirk hadn't been shut off, then maybe..."
"Sun Eater, don't blame your self. What happened is in the past. We should count ourselves lucky that he survived." Fatgum cut him off.
But something felt off... like... something else had awakened in me... something that wasn't Saiyan... something more. I tried to push it down but... it wouldn't go away... like it had been programmed into me... something... more... to... destroy Saiyans.
"Astero, hey you spaced out there." Kirishima shook my shoulder. I looked up in a bit of dazed state.
"Sorry, just felt a bit over whelmed." I said, the feeling was gone... like it had never been there to begin with. "I need a bit of food. Can you guys give me a moment and get me something small to eat?" I asked.
"Oh, sure, we'll be right back." Fatgum said. "You had a very unorthodox first day on the job." He steered the other two out. As soon as the door was closed I threw the sheets off of me and leaped over to my gear on a bench on the other side of the wall. I grabbed my tablet and opened up a DNA scanner for... identifying specific targets.
"What am I?" I bit into my wrist drawing blood and scanned crimson liquid. And the code ran and ran and ran my thoughts were all over the place. Something wasn't right. There was a flash of green and... "It can't be..." I heard voices out side so I shut it off and got back into the hospital bed and tore off the end of the silk blanket tying it around my wrist to stem the bleeding. The door opened and in came the three of them with a sandwich and bag of chips.
"Here you go kid. Eat up before the doctor get back." Fatgum said.
"T-thanks." I said as I took the food. 'I can't really be half... that? Can I? The Saiyans wiped them out... right?' As I took small bites... 'But... it make too much sense... I am half... Tuffle?' "Um... about that man who injected him self with the drug... what happened to him?" I asked trying to get my mind off of the revelation that I had made. One I had been to stupid to make.
"He's being detained at a villain hospital, but the drug isn't wearing off. It's like it had permanently changed him. When the other of his gang were questioned about it, they said he had bought a drug called Oozaru to use if thing went south. They thought it was a quirk enhancer. It's like he gained a new quirk from it. I don't want to think what other kinds of villains have gotten their hands on this drug." Fatgum said. "I all my years of breaking up drug rings... this is something I had never seen before. And that is terrifying. On top of the quirk destroying drug that Sun eater was hit with... the fact that low level thugs had these." The large man shivered.
"Oozaru…" 'Is Celron and Romne somehow involved?' I thought to myself. 'No... those elites would never allow something like that to sully the purity of their Saiyan blood.'
We stood in the rain as we met up with Nighteye and Bubble girl. "I'm sorry, we let him go." Mirio and Deku said.
"No, it is I who should be apologizing. I should have used my quirk on you three. Did you give him any reason to suspect you?" Nighteye asked as he slumped over.
"I did my best to keep the situation under control... but Fuma... she looked like she was ready to attack him right there." Mirio explained. "But we learned new information, he has two daughters. Girls named Eri and Ka'ne." Mirio continued.
'No... I should tell them... but... then I'll have to tell them what I am.' I looked furiously at the ground. "Ka'ne… she had a blood splatter on her clothes... and the bandages on their arms and legs... he's..."
"Listen to me Fuma, I know you want to go back and save them. But we can't let our emotions get the better of us. We need to handle this the right way." Nighteye said as he put his hand on my shoulder.
"I had them... I had them in my arms and I let them go back." I growled. "He is hurting them."
"Fuma..." Deku grabbed my hand, but I didn't return the pressure.
"We will do what we can, just don't do anything rash that will draw attention." Nighteye said. "We will only have one shot at saving them."
We arrived at the 1-A Dorms and found that Kirishima and Astero had a run in with villains of their own. "Tsk, you idiot, what made you think stepping on him would work for?" Bakugo mocked the injured half Saiyan who was on a set of crutches, his shorts revealing a mass of scars going up his leg.
"Whatever, you are just jealous that you weren't able to go on a work study." the half Saiyan mocked before Kirishima had to hold back the blonde bombshell.
"WHAT DID YOU SAY!? I'LL KILL YOU!" I just ignored all of this and went straight to my room, trying too keep tears from falling.
"What's wrong with her?" I heard Tsu say.
"We... can't really say." Deku said as he followed me to my room. I slammed the door shut shaking the building as I fell into the bed crying into the pillow.
"Fuma... can I come in?" Deku knocked at my door.
"I don't care!" I shouted as he walked in closing the door behind him, and rubbed my back.
"Fuma... we'll save them..." He said.
"A Saiyan and a human child is being harmed as we speak... one of the few left... and I let them go back to the man that is harming them... I failed." I cried into the pillow. "How can I be a hero if I can't save my own kind... a pair of children needed me... and I failed."
"I know you want to be a hero... but..."
"No buts... I need to fix this... for my own pride... so that I can one day call myself a hero..." he pulled me into his shoulder as the door opened. I didn't see who it was, but just the tired sigh told me it was Aizawa.
"She needs you..." I heard the door close with a soft thump.
"We'll fix this together." He patted my hair as he hugged me.
Far away in space, the Galactic patrol ship sped it's way through the empty void. "We sure we have enough fire power to take down Celron?" Kalna asked as she ate from a packet marked freeze dried assorted meats. Her face was one of disgust.
"Of course we do, you still can transform, I am the best combat pilot out of all of us and harp has his little secret weapons." Nakono pointed with his thumb towards a sealed case locked tight. "We can always use those, not to mention Harp here can survive anything." He punched the Namekian in the shoulder. "Got to love you Namekians."
"Tsk." The green man glared at his Saiyan teammate. "You two are only junior training patrollers, you are only here because we are dealing with Saiyans. Ones that you are familiar with." He turned focus back out the port. "Our mission isn't to capture Celron remember. We have to remove his threat... for good."
"Oh, I can't wait for this fight!" Kalna said as she threw the empty packet into a garbage disposal. "So, Harp, you haven't told us, what is Namek like?"
"I wasn't born on Namek." He said, clearly not wanting to talk about it.
"Oh? Then what world did you call home?" She asked him.
"That isn't important." And after that he cut off all conversation with the two Saiyans.
"Oh come on, your no fun. Oh well... I hope this Earth has cute boys though, being cooped up with no one but my brother and a slug man leaves a girl wanting. And I just can't get any privacy." She said to no one in particular.
"Shut up pervert. You know that you aren't allowed that kind of material at our age." Her brother hit her in the head with a fruit.
"Oh, come on, I'm the older one here so you have to do what I say." She threw the fruit back.
"I outrank you!" He said exasperated. "Because you kept on sneaking in those magazines during basic training. Where do you keep finding them?"
"That's for me to know." she had a devilish grin. "And you to be forever confused about."
"Shut up." Harp growled. "Why did I have to be assigned you two?"
