While Portia is sleeping, a tiny glowing white orb starts to manifest. As it starts to illuminate and enlargen, she wakes up to see the ghostly orb growing larger. It took the form of a bigger spark of light floating in the air. She rubs her eyes and sees the orb manifesting in the form of a translucent young boy resembling Bessie's brother, Ben wearing a white robe. A flame appears on top of his head. He is now barefoot. Portia gasped.
"Who are you?" she asked to the ghostly boy. "Ben Stinken-I mean Higgenbottom?"
The ghost shook his head.
"Actually, I am the Ghost of Christmas Past. I am here to tell you about the past Christmases you have when you're younger." he said.
"Wow, I thought you're Messy-I mean Bessie's brother!"
"No, I'm not. I'm the Ghost of Christmas Past. Gwen told me if you don't change your ways, you will end up like her!" the ghost cried out. "Now follow me, Portia Gibbons. Take my hand and I'll bring you to the past!"
He lended his hand to Portia as she grabs his hand. They hold hands with each other as a glowing white void manifested in the form of a portal. The ghost leads Portia to a magical portal as they go inside. As they come out of the portal, they headed to a different living room.
"This is the past." said the ghost as it shows a younger version of Portia opening a present. She is shown wearing pink pajamas complete with a long sleeved shirt and pants. While her brothers Richard and Dick are wearing blue pajamas, Mary Frances wears a white nightgown.
"Was this 5 years ago?" Portia asked. The ghost nodded. "I can't believe it. I can see me as a 5-year-old girl."
She is ripping pieces of wrapping paper apart as she opens it to reveal a blonde-haired doll wearing a leopard print dress.
"Mommy, I got a Darbie doll!" cried little Portia.
"That's pretty nice, honey." Mary Frances replied.
Richard and Dick are opening the gifts to reveal toy cars.
"Oh my gosh, Richard and Dick, you brought toy cars? That sounds nice!"
"This is the time you got a nice present." the ghost told Portia.
"Aw, that sounds nice. It's like we're watching TV. This whole thing is the television and we're the ones watching TV!" Portia said. The younger Portia walked into a present and pointed at one.
"Mommy, can I unwrap the next present?" The younger Portia asked.
"Sure you can." Mary Frances told her daughter. As the younger Portia unwraps the present, it's a kippa. A pink kippa.
"Terrific." the younger Portia sarcastically said. "A Jewish hat."
While Portia and her family are Jewish, not only they celebrate Christmas, but Hanukkah as well.
"You like it?"
"No! I think it's boring and stupid. I mean, who would wear it anyways?" the younger Portia threw the kippa into the ground and ran upstairs crying.
"See? You had a kippa as a Christmas present. That's why you lost your Christmas spirit." the ghost told Portia.
"I can't believe it. I never knew that I hated some stupid Jew hat as a Christmas present!" Portia said. The white portal appears again as the ghost grabs Portia and sends her back into her room. Portia fell out of the portal and laid back into her bed. She started breathing as she looked everywhere. As she stopped, she sighed in relief.
"Can't believe I'm back into my own bed." she spoke as she slept.
