Wow…. I honestly didn't think people would enjoy this, really does make me happy that I was proven wrong. Even if I'm not an experienced writer I hope to reach people's expectations. For those of you who are worried that this is just another stereotypical OP Subaru fanfic, I can assure you that it isn't (ok, maybe he might have a few bad ass moments but thats all!). Also, I would like to apologize in advance before you read this story, the reason being is that this chapter is going to sound quite familiar with another popular story at least in some parts so I do deeply apologize for that. Apologies for keeping you waiting and enjoy the show!
Chapter 2: Insignia Retrieval
"I'm back…" Subaru nostalgically smiled.
Watching the current event unfolding the same way it did when he first came into this world, he couldn't help but let out a chuckle.
"Thank you Zurok.." Subaru muttered in a small whisper.
Making his way to the fountain, he sits down and takes a breather. The air smelled fresher than it had before and the small breeze making his hair wave felt better than the icy breeze that enveloped his entire body a few minutes ago. Sitting there for a couple minutes enjoying the sight, he notices something different about himself. He couldn't quite put his finger on it but if he had to name it, it was primal? Was this what Zurok was talking about..? Lightly shaking his head and brushing the thought off, he gets up and stretches his arms.
'Alright, that's enough rest time. Time to see Emilia-tan and to do that…"
Subaru points to the heavens with one arm and puts the other on his hips, giving a full and ample view of his "Subaru pose".
'I'm going to get mugged!' The teenager exclaimed out loud despite receiving weird glances around him from the people who were just trying to go on about their day.
"Weirdo…" A cat demihuman says passing by the boy.
"Eh?" Subaru replied dumbly before visibly deflating in shame.
'Oh right I'm in the middle of the capital.' The teenager ashamedly thought, just now remembering.
Taking a deep breath in an attempt to stave off the embarrassment, he makes his way towards the dark alley just passing by the appa vendor and into the familiar steps where he got his first lap pillow, not by the goddess silver haired beauty but by her hairy company.. Seeing 3 people come out seemingly out of nowhere, Subaru felt the corners of his mouth slightly perk up. Who would have thought out of everything, THIS would be the most nostalgic to the boy..
"Ah hello gentlemen, I've been expecting you." Subaru says in a vigilante-like voice.
"The hell you mean 'I've been expecting you!?'" The shorter out of the three yelled out
Brushing several strands of his hair backwards with his hand, he glared at the three.
"It's pretty obvious what you three are trying to do, anyone with a brain can tell." The teenager replies a matter of factly
"If you really are some smart ass then you know what's best for ye' in this situation, cough up everything you have and you just might leave with a couple bruises." The lanky one spat out, sticking out his tongue at the end of his sentence brandishing two knives in reverse grip.
As he spoke those words, The rapid sounds of boots hitting the pavement can be heard just directly behind them
"Out of the way morons!" A familiar orange haired thief shouted with a grin.
The three muggers making way to let the thief pass through, Subaru cried out.
"Oh no you do-!?" His words cut out as the girl he recognized as felt toothily smiled
"Too slow!" before using his face as a stepping stool.
'Not this time brat!' Subaru thought angrily as he reached out and concentrated on her leg. An appendage exploded out of his back and snakes its way towards his gaze, grabbing her foot with a vice-like grip.
"H-huh!?" Felt cried out in response, surprised that not only had all of her momentum been gone but also sensing a cold, clawed hand on her right foot.
"Sit down!" The boy yelled slamming both his real and shadow hand downwards, creating a small crater that can take down a bear! As the dust settled, There lay on the ground an unconscious thief.
'Sorry felt' Subaru apologetically grimaced noticing just what kind of damage he had dealt to her.
"The fuck was that, magic!?" The muscular thug shouted out poising his balled fist in front of him.
"Crap! He's a magic user!?" The shorter one cried out unsheathing his small blade, sweating bullets.
[To use this new authority, you merely have to concentrate, or give in to that sin]
Remembering how zurok had told him about receiving the archbishop's powers, the surprised teenager stared at the now dissipating unseen hand.
'Huh, and here I thought I could only use it when I transformed.. Unseen hand huh?' Subaru winced at the name of the authority
Hearing the vivid laughter from a madman Subaru hated to the core, he shook his head, removing the thought from his mind.
'I'll call it Invisible Providence! Yep! Definitely sounds a lot coole-!' The teenager's proud thoughts were interrupted.
"You're mine!" The lanky one cried out preparing to stab the boy's chest
Noticing how the blue haired psycho closed the gap, Subaru's only thought was to use his right hand as a meat shield to protect himself from being fatally wounded. As he did so, his arm and hand grew furry and slightly bigger. The snake looking teenager thrusted the knife down with everything he had only for it to break in half. Both jumping back with surprise that the blade was broken in two, the blue haired psycho shouted,
"What the fu-!?" Noticing Subaru's arm, he paled.
Reaching up to his shoulder was a hairy muscular jet black arm and claws that looked like it would have no problem tearing the three of them apart beyond recognition. Shifting his gaze towards the pale mugger's direction, Subaru spots that his right arm was different than his left one. Looking back at the three muggers who looked like they were moments from shitting themselves any moment now. Subaru takes the opportunity to make full use of his villainous eyes, his gaze shifting towards the three as he intimidatingly as possible, despite feeling afraid inside says,
"You all should've left after what I did to the girl…." before sprinting in front of the mushroom haired kid and kicking him towards the wall forming a crater, appearing in front of the blue haired teenager with impressive speed, He gives him a nasty uppercut with his furry arm.
The bigger thug snapping out of his fear-like state, goes to attack the boy from behind hoping to get a surprise attack in. Sensing that someone was behind him, his left hand transforms as he turns around; grabbing the thug's wrist, twisting it and at the same time punching him in the face towards the ground forming yet another crater. A moment later, a feeling of dread escapes out of the boy as his hands turn back to normal. He kneels down and frantically searches for a pulse in the three, only to sigh in relief when they were very much alive. Taking a good look around him, he falls in his rear as he looks at the three.
"I did it… I actually defended myself.. without asking for help…" tears trickled down to Subaru's cheeks. He lifted a single arm, using his sleeve to wipe said tears away. That was when he blinked the several tears away in surprise. His sleeves.. His sleeves were still intact despite hearing it tear and rip before his very eyes. Seeing as the one and only piece of his favorite momento/clothing was still in one piece relieved the boy. Guess he had to thank Zurok for his thoughtfulness… A flashback of Subaru being killed in this very alleyway manifested in his mind… he had finally done it.. Subaru Natsuki had finally defended himself without asking for help… without reinha-...
'Shit! I forgot to call for hi-!' His thoughts were interrupted when a female voice made himself known.
"Where is my insig-!?" A familiar voice called out
Finding the source of the voice, Subaru turns and simply stares at the half elf's beauty. She than looked down, noticing the three unconscious bodies on the floor. She felt her instincts go on high alert, her heartbeat quickened and her adrenaline started to kick in. Nope! She didn't want to be next! The Half-Elf hastily turns around and leaves, not before saying,
"E-Excuse me!"
Watching the silver haired beauty turn around Subaru reaches out in an attempt to stop her.
"Emi-omtth!" Biting on his own tongue on accident but luckily so, he grimfully thought.
'Crap I almost said her name! That definitely would have been suspicious and it doesn't help that there's three unconscious assholes behind me, but of course she doesn't know that.!'
"Wait up!" Subaru cried out.
Running up to her, she turns to face him and puts her hands up in a defensive manner.
"What do you want!? Just so you know I'm an experienced spirit user!" As if to prove her point she yells out to her partner.
"Puck!"
Mana builds in the half elf's hand and said "Puck" materializes.
"Nyaaaa…. hmm? Is something wrong Lia?" The spirit yawned.
"Puck! I just caught this man with three unconscious people! He's a bad guy isn't he!?" The girl known as Lia pointed at Subaru accusingly, making him feel like he wanted to cry because of the misunderstanding.
Puck, wanting to play along with this, looks at the teenager mischievously before pointing his paw accusingly.
"He's 100% guilty! He's as guilty as they come!"
"You're not making this situation any better!" Subaru replied, trying to defend himself.
"Okay, okay.. All jokes aside, he's harmless. I don't sense any ill intent from him." The cat spirit told the half elf as he rubbed his eye with the back of his wrist.
Believing the spirit's words, she murmurs.
"Hmmm, ok if you say so.." suddenly remembering about the insignia she cries out,
"My insignia!"
Looking towards the boy she quickly explains what the insignia looked like and that a thief took it from her. Of course Subaru being surprised by the sudden 180 in attitude suddenly interjects,
"Uh actually, I caught her.." Subaru says, red at the face at how close Lia's face was close from his.
"Wai-!? You… did..?" She replies surprised, retracting her face from his.
"Yeah, she right ther- she's gone!?" Subaru couldn't help but facepalm at his own mistake for not keeping an eye on the thief, she was practically knocked out cold so how did she wake up so fast!?
"Uhmmm, if she isn't here then I'll continue my search… thanks for trying." Lia gives the boy a small smile before turning around.
"Wait!" The teenager grabs her left shoulder and gives a smile of his own.
"Let me help.!"
Surprised by the sudden act of kindness she tries to reject it.
"Why do you want to help? It's my fault that I let it get stolen!"
Subaru, ready with his alibi replies,
"Look, it's my fault that I let the thief escape. So I owe you more than just an apology alone!" Subaru runs the other direction making a "c'mon" gesture, Lia follows suite.
Puck sighs as he turns around, just realizing the damage that the "harmless" boy had caused behind him.
"Guess I have to keep a closer eye on him" he says cautiously before disappearing.
*Insert montage of Subaru asking about Felt's whereabouts*
*On Rooftop*
"Oh, I just realized that we've been working together without knowing your name!" Puck says in a surprised tone
Getting ready to introduce himself he exclaims.
"My name is Pu-!" His introduction was cut off
"Puck, right?" Subaru finished deadpanned.
"Wha-!? You ruined my awesome introduction!" The spirit said quite angrily, crossing his tiny kitten arms.
"Well I don't know..! Maybe trying to frame someone for malicious intent when it was self defense was enough of an introduction to me." He said half sarcastically half deadpanned.
The only thing the cat spirit could do in defiance was "hmph" and turn around not looking at him. Tch, that damn furball nearly costed him his life and now he has the nerve to get mad at him!? The audacity! Shaking those thoughts out of his mind, not wanting to get into that kind of trouble with a great spirit, he lets out a loud "Ahem" before posing his "Subaru pose" pointing onto the heavens, He shouts to the very heavens,
"My name is Subaru Natsuki! Not only am I clueless, but I am broke beyond compare!" He extends his arm in a friendly manner as if expecting a handshake "Nice to meet ya!"
"Not sure if calling yourself clueless and broke is something you should take pride in…" Puck says almost ashamed for Subaru.
Now that his intro was out of the way he looks at the Silver haired beauty as if expecting an answer from her. Noticing this she looks downcast and replies,
"My name…. Is Satella, just Satella. No last name.."
Puck hoping that her precious contractor can make friends deflates upon hearing this.
"You know" Subaru smiles.
"As cute as a name Satella is.." Both spirit and contractor surprised that someone called the name satella; out of all things cute, he continues,
"I find that hard to believe since Puck has already said your name before… it's Lia if I recall, right.?" Subaru says as he puts on a thinking gesture.
Said Lia turning red from this tries to deny it, I mean he did just call a witch's name "cute"!
"No! It's Satel-!" Her attempt at trying to push him away was interjected by none other than her partner.
"Lia, it's obvious he's not falling for it, and what did I tell you about calling yourself as such?" The spirit stated firmly.
"I- uh" turning to Subaru she sadly says while bowing,
"I'm sorry for trying to decieve you.. My name is Emilia, just Emilia…."
"Emilia huh?" The teenager repeated.
"That's also a cute name" Subaru gives a charming grin.
"Wha-!?" Not falling for Subaru's honest words of compliments she brushes it off
"If you call someone cute too much it starts to lose its meaning" she replied cross armed. Subaru nodded in agreement as he rephrases his sentence.
"You're right, allow me to reword that.." Giving a toothy smile, he follows it up with, "Emilia is a beautiful name!"
Finally blushing from his honest compliments she stutters.
"B-beautifu-!?" Not able to meet his gaze she turns around, pressing both cheeks with her hands and lets out a cute girlish squeal, feeling her heart clench in embarrassment.
"Hauuuuuuuu….!"
Subaru chuckling at this turns his focus to the sky, finally feeling like it's time to get on topic, he announces,
"The people in this part of Lugnica are pretty stable, huh?"
"Hm? What do you mean.? Emilia asks, slightly tilting her head in confusion.
"I mean that the people are financially stable here, and the fact that the girl was a thief means that she's more than likely not from around here. Not to mention that she isn't exactly dressed as a 'noble'" The teenager stated, meeting her gaze.
As if all the answers were finally put together, the half elf was able to piece the puzzle.
"The Slums!" She answered out loud.
"Alright." the boy says, walking away from the rails "Guess that's where we're going next.." Subaru sighs
'Hope the appa vendor can forgive me for not finding his daughter' he thought guiltily
*The Slums*
Noticing someone who was passing by, Subaru stops and asks him if he knew where Felt was. After exchanging a few laughs, Emilia heard the man tell the teenager "live strong" Before going back to do his own thing.
"What did he say?" The half elf said hopeful that the man knew of the thief's whereabouts.
"Just follow me, I'll guide us there" Subaru said calmly in an attempt to ease Emilia's worries.
Following Subaru, they make their way to what the thieves called "The Loot House". After a few minutes of awkward silence, he looks up to the sky noticing that it is barely hitting dusk-hours.
'If I remember correctly, Puck is only able to be up at certain hours, it couldn't hurt to ask but I can't be suspicious..'
"Hey Puck, how are you feeling?" Subaru asked.
"Hm? I've never felt better, why?" Puck replied, using his little paw to rub his eye.
"Oh, no rea-"
"Puck, are you sure you can be awake at this time?" The half elf interjected.
"Yeah, I still got a couple hours left, plus…"
Looking at Subaru and putting his tiny kitten hands on both sides of his hips he continues,
"I can't leave you alone with a hooligan like him."
"Why are you making me out like the bad guy here!?" Subaru cries out in response, before sighing and going back on topic.
"If it's not in there then it is most likely in a pawn shop…"
"Why would it be in a pawn shop..?" Emilia dreadfully asked, hoping what she was thinking was not true.
"He's probably saying that the thief already sold your insignia Lia." Puck replies
Realizing that the possibility may happen, she couldn't help but be outraged "What!? You can't just sell an insignia, it's not something you could just sell!"
Looking at Emilia's outrage as if it was cute, Subaru voiced out.
"Even insignias can be sold if you're not careful, which is why I'll buy it!"
"What!?" Emilia cried out assuming the worst.
"Whoa.! Hey..! Hey..! Of course I plan to give it back to you!" Subaru says, easing some of her worry.
"B-but with what!? You have nothing on you that's valuable and I'm not going to buy back what was stolen from me!" Yup.! She was definitely against the idea!
"Look, I also hate the idea of buying something that was stolen from you, but can you blame them?" Taking a look at his surroundings he continues,
"People want to get out of here so they can have a better life for them and their family.."
Pulling out his cellphone, he briefly explains what it is,
"This is a metia, it can take pictures of anything in good detail." He proceeds to take a picture and shows it to the two.
"T-that's me and Puck?" She asks in awe that a metia like this can take a picture so detailed.
"Yup, I no longer have any use of this metia, it has already served its purpose." Subaru replies, hiding his sadness.
The last messages he received were from his mom and dad, telling him that they loved him and now that's going to be gone...
"You should thank him Lia '' She heard her partner say firmly.
"It's not easy to obtain a metia and in these days, it could fetch a decent price. Especially the one of a kind Subaru has, if he does happen to sell it, then that would mean he's giving up quite a bit for you."
Hearing her partner say this, she turns to look at Subaru "Why?"
"Why are you doing so much for me?" She asked which Subaru in returned blinked and then smiled,
"Is it so wrong to help someone in need? And not to mention that I really did enjoy the time we spent together."
"But… I'm a half elf.. I resemble the jealous witch.." She replied sadly
"So? Just because you resemble someone doesn't mean that you're actually them and plus…" giving one of the biggest grins he can muster , he beamed affectionately "it makes being with you even more exciting!"
Taken aback at the boy's declaration, Puck blurted, "He isn't lying!?"
Hearing Puck say this, She lets out another girlish squeal making Subaru laugh. He much rather take the pacifist side, if he could avoid Elsa than no one had to get hurt. Wait Elsa…? Elsa…? The Gut…. Hunter….? Realizing who they may have to face, Subaru clutches his heart and stomach in pure horror and dread, falling on both knees as he hyperventilates.
"H-hey!?" Puck cries out in response, floating in front of the boy inspecting if he was damaged in any way.
"Subaru!?" Emilia shouts out in worry inspecting the boy as well
"What's wrong Subaru!?" She cried out again.
'Elsa…! Elsa…! Elsa…! Elsa…! Elsa…! Elsa…! Gut hunter! Gut hunter! Gut hunter..! Gut hunter….!' The boy repeated in his head, almost driving himself mad.
Having stopped all together, the world turns dark in which he eerily calms down.
'H-huh? Why going o-?'
"You really need to have more faith in yourself Subaru Natsuki." Hearing a familiar voice call out, He mutters in surprise
"Z-zurok….?"
"Yeah, it's me. Consider it a "calm down" kind of thing.." The voice states.
Before Subaru can ask "why?", the voice continues,
"I'm not always going to do this whenever you're in trouble, you're going to have to do things on your own from now.. I'm not going to baby you through to it all." Zurok says firmly.
Realizing what he's done, The teenager mutters an apology,
"Sorry…"
"Don't apologize to me, apologize to those two…" although physically not there, Subaru can tell who he was referring to.
"Just… get a hold of yourself.." The voice said solemnly, The world regaining its color and time finally resumes.
"Subaru what wrong!?" Hearing Emilia panic and Puck ask if he was alright, Subaru calmly picks himself up and apologizes.
"Sorry you two, just had a panic attack is all.."
"Are you sure you're ok? You don't have to continue the search with us.." Emilia says the last part sadly, thinking that she might have been at fault.
"No!" Subaru shouts, startling the two. Taking a deep breath, he calms down.
"I'm fine, and it doesn't make sense to turn back now," Looking past the half elf towards the door he notifies the two, walking up to the door "Since we're already here."
Knocking on the door, opens Felt staring dumbfoundedly at the two before quickly closing the door shut. Just before that; the boy manage to slip his foot at the door, stopping it from closing."
"Ouch! Listen fel- GRK!" Having enough of his foot being slammed by the door repeatedly, he uses his unseen ha- invisible providence to stop the door from having his poor foot even more damaged.
"I want to make a deal!" Subaru painfully shouted.
"A deal?" Felt repeated. Seeing as those two won't go away without her possession, she gives it some thought before letting them in, she decides.
"Fine." Walking away from the door she warns the two "Don't try anything funny.."
Sighing in relief, the three make their way into the loot house. Sitting across from each other, sat Subaru and Felt. They've already met Old Man Rom, the two sure are close… getting down to business, he pulls his "metia".
"I want that insignia for my metia, from what I can tell it costs no more than 20 holy coins"
As if the old man did not believe him, he hands his metia to him to have it inspected.
"This metia definitely cost no more than 20 holy coins… I think people out there would actually pay for more.." Looking at his "daughter" he explains "Felt, this is practically a once in a life opportunity, as I see it, the favor is in his odds. Whatever your client is going to pay you, it's not much to what this young boy is offering."
Emilia, on the side is having second thoughts, why should she pay for something that was stolen from her? Well technically she wasn't buying it but some stranger she happened to meet in an alleyway was. Just as she was about to make up her mind Felt intervened, although hesitant about it, she came up with an excuse when her client would show up.
"Hmm, ok!" Felt extended her hand for a hand shake.
"You got yourself a deal!" She happily exclaimed.
Feeling relieved that they didn't make a big deal out of it this time, he extends his own hand to accept the trade. A new yet familiar seductive voice Subaru dreaded to hear announced,
"Ara… There's no point in negotiations if the original owner is here."
Already knowing where she will strike, Subaru practically explodes out of his chair and turns to faceEmilia, seeing a kukri knife already aiming at her back!? Feeling a sudden sense of adrenaline rush, time seems to slow down. Had Subaru not been in this current predicament, he would have stared in awe at the fact that everyone was moving as a snail's pace but he ignores the world losing its color as said color was replaced with purple, the same exact color when Subaru challenges his "Return by Death". Transforming both his arms, he uses his right hand as a shield and the other to open hand strike at the assassin. Both having successful hits, Subaru manages to push Elsa a few meters and winces in pain as the knife embedded itself in his arm, time resumes back to normal...
"Ah, I really felt that one.." She smiled seductively while blushing, tracing the gash Subaru made and licking her bloody finger.
Quickly turning his attention to the wedged knife, he grabs the handle and has a hard time removing it. Seeing no other choice other than breaking the handle and leaving the blade inside his flesh, he shrieks in pain as he forces it out in a slicing motion; cutting deeper in his arm.
A multitude of questions arise in Emilia's mind but not having enough time to question him, she snaps out of her shock and heals her protector's arm.
"Sorry! I should've been paying attention!" Emilia apologizes.
"It's fin-!" Subaru was about to answer but was too late to do so as Elsa closed the gap
"To have a conversation in front of me.. You must be really confident boy~." She excitedly says as she takes aim at both of their guts.
An ethereal ice shield materializes and blocks Elsa's attack forcing her to backflip away as shards of ice shot directly at her.
"You may have almost gotten me the first time, but a second isn't going to work!" Puck angrily states as more ice shards appear out of thin air. Giving Subaru a grateful smile, he thanks him while giving a thumbs up, or rather paws up... "Thank you for protecting Lia!"
Returning the favor, Subaru replies,
"Nice save Puck! Hope you don't mind taking it from here!"
"Of course!" Shifting his gaze back to the masochist, he introduces himself "My name is Puck! Remember that in the afterlife!" Before proceeding to thrust his paws, signaling that he was firing at her.
Hitting his mark, Old Man Rom yells out,
"Did he get 'er!?"
"You should really stop raising flags" Subaru couldn't help but deadpan while looking at Rom.
"One must always be prepared" Elsa declared as a bright light illuminates and quickly fades.
Getting ready to attack the half elf again, an ice shard forces her to go back. Doing a couple more backflips to avoid getting impaled, she brandishes another of her kukri knives out of her hair and deflects the oncoming attacks.
"A spirit.. I never dissected a spirit's stomach before!" She gleefully exclaims letting out what would have been a cute giggle were it not for the situation they were in, not to mention that she was traversing wall to wall with spider-like reflexes.
Finally calming down, Emilia finishes healing Subaru's arm and goes back to help Puck. Elsa deflecting the last ice shard tries to change position. Not being able to move she notices that her foot was frozen. Looking at the culprit she smiled,
"Does this mean I've been caught?"
"Good night!" Puck joyfully said.
Both him and Emilia shot out a singular but giant stream of an elongated frozen shard, spikes pointing forward out at every side.
Having no choice other than to die, Elsa cuts off the sole of her frozen heel, she manages to dodge, surprising everyone in the building except for Subaru. He knew it would happen but he still prayed that it would be the end of things right then and there, guess history does always course the same way..
"My, how lovely… you certainly almost got me there.." She seductively commented, almost too calm for someone who was about to die..
"You're a girl, and even I don't find that very impressive." Puck said before yawning.
His contractor noticing this, Emilia speaks up,
"Puck, can you keep going?"
"Sorry Lia, nyaaaaaa….. I'm really sleepy.." he stretched his arms as he yawned again.
"Seems like I underestimated her.."
"It's ok Puck, I'll handle it from here." his contractor reassures him.
"If things get hectic, don't be shy about calling for me, even if you have to squeeze me out of my od" Puck replies before disappearing altogether.
"Ara… is the spirit leaving so soon? That's a shame." Elsa says feigning sadness.
Springing into action, Subaru launches himself to Elsa, unleashing an unrelenting barrage of attacks. Elsa dodged and danced around his attacks with relative ease. She had to be careful however, even if the boy before her was nothing short but a novice fighter; One good hit from him would ultimately leave her vulnerable and more than likely her demise. Finding an opening, she twirls and kicks him to a wall, forming a crater in the old wood. Feeling the wind get knocked out of him, he falls onto the floor gasping for air. Getting ready to send the boy to the "angels", she charges at him but then dodges an ice shard that intervenes.
"Things won't go your way as long as I'm here, villain!" The half elf declared.
In between gasps, he shouts toward the frozen Felt.
"Go get help!"
Snapping out of her frozen state she yells back.
"You want me to just tuck my tail down and run?"
Finally getting some air in his lungs he shouts back
"Yes.. Stick your butt out, tuck in your tail and run! out of everyone in here you're the youngest and before you say that you're older than me, I'll have you know that I'm eighteen! So it's a given that we pick the best method to keep you alive!"
Taking a look at her surroundings, she decides to follow his instructions, if she doesn't obey then everyone in the loot house will surely die... Getting up on her feet, she sprints towards the door to escape and find help.
"You think I'll let her escape?" The assassin said as she brandishes a knife out of her back pocket and throws it at the orange haired thief.
Using invisible providence, he swats the knife away with surprising ease. Falling on his knees, he grabs his chest in pain. The devastating kick he received from Elsa took a lot out of him, luckily Felt got out of there! Using the wall as support he smirked,
"Looks like you let one get away.."
"For once, I am a tad bit annoyed," Elsa said, slightly irritated, she deflects an ice shard aimed towards her back "This game is getting boring."
With blinding speed, she appears in front of the teenager and gives another roundhouse kick into his chest. Not having enough time to do practically anything, the kick lands on his midsection.
"I'll save you for last…" Subaru managed to hear as he was sent across the room into a nearby shelf.
Falling down like a sacl of potatoes, the shelf toppled over him; effectively pinning him down. Clutching his chest in pain with both hands to ease the pain, he whimpers in agonizing pain. Old Man Rom, waiting for his moment, grabs his club and strikes at Elsa.. Too bad it was a futile attempt as she was easily able to knock him out, giving him a nasty hit in the temple located in the side of his head… Looking up to see what crash landed was none other than Rom. Noticing that everyone in the loot house was down except for Emilia and Elsa, Subaru began to panic.
'Shit! This isn't good! This never happened before! Crap! Crap! Crap! Emilia's on her own and Elsa is going to kill her!' The teenager started to panic.
Having to use his last resort too early was embarrassing for him, but if it was to protect her…
a vivid scene of Emilia being killed the first in the loot house manifested in his mind.
No.! He couldn't let that happen!
Having been left with no choice, he allows himself to give in to his primal instincts. The sound of his clothes tearing and bones breaking and popping back into place was stomach churning, his face and body grew furry, jet black in color. His eyes lost its usual brown color as it was replaced with an orange hue. Growing in size, he was almost as big as Old Man Rom. Wolf ears appeared on the top of his head, his nails grew as sharp as daggers and even grew a small mane similar to that of a lion's. Subaru's legs bent back and his foot became several times larger than his human foot. His form finally having been completed, he raised his head and glared at Elsa as he motionlessly took several steps towards her.
Having found an opening, Elsa aims towards the half elf's stomach. Her instincts telling her to move left the assassin reluctant but she decided to abide it nonetheless, seeing as her instincts have never failed her. Fortunately for her, it was a good thing that she dodged, barely avoided from being crushed alive by the jet black monstrosity that had jumped in between her and the silver haired beauty. Taking notice of who the culprit was, she exclaim,
"Ara, and here I thought that you were all talk… how lovely, please do try your best!" She gushed as she was traversing the loot house with unnatural athleticism.
The werewolf let out a deafening howl before it followed suite. Both traversing the area with relative ease and incredible acrobatics, getting closer to the assassin, it grabs Elsa's leg and slams her into the floor. In retaliation, she tries to aim at this thing's gut hoping that it would be too worried that it's insides are open and hopefully she could finish the job swiftly. What she hadn't expected was for the werewolf to counter with a bone crushing chomp on both her hand and knife and tearing it right off it's socket. It then breaks both her knife and hand with a sickening crunch right in front of her. Blood oozed out of its mouth, dripping onto Elsa's face.
Kicking the beast with both her legs, she managed to get up and at the same time push the monster a few meters away from her. Brandishing the kukri knife with her left hand, She traverses and leaps from wall to wall, cutting the beast in the process. Angering the monster, it releases a roar as it balled up both its fists and brought them down to the wooden floor, causing a massive shockwave. Losing all momentum she had gained from the burst of wind the creature had created, it took advantage of the opportunity as it leaped toward Elsa in mid air, grabbing her face and using gravity as his own momentum to slam and crush Elsa's skull in the ground creating burst of wind and splinters to fly everywhere.. Her vision begins to fade, had she failed? No, it merely has been postponed…
She'll remember the boy's name, and the next time they meet, she will gut him! Not noticing Reinhard come in, it lets out a triumphant mixture of a roar and howl shaking the whole building in the process. Its figure illuminated by the full moon as if to show the beast in all its glory. Looking down on its "prey", it notices it no longer moving. Deeming it harmless for now, it tries to make its way towards Emilia. Of course the Sword Saint, thinking it was a threat, steps between the two.
The black monster stopped in its tracks as the knight intervened, the beast knew that if they were to fight, it would ultimately lose.. But it wasn't trying to fight, it just wanted to check on Emi-
"Is… that you.. Subaru…?" The silver haired beauty uttered, almost afraid.
Turning it's gaze to her, she flinches. Feeling bad that it scared Emilia, its ears pulled back as it nodded. Somewhat relieved that the werewolf was Subaru calmed her but she still harbored some fear towards it. Closing his eyes and letting his primal instincts cease, his joints break and pop back into place as he had finally reverted back to human form. Looking at himself then the others, Subaru couldn't help but joke.
"It'd be pretty embarrassing if you two saw me naked, haha.." he says using his index scratch his cheek while grinning.
Noticing Felt behind Reinhard, he corrects himself "Nevermind make that three." The teenager joked again
"W-what are you saying!? Blockhead… even after everything that's just happened, you go back to messing around…" Emilia mumbled.
Chuckling at this Subaru replies,
"Can you blame me? Pretty sure we need a good laugh after what just went down." Subaru goofily smiled.
Reinhard Intervenes,
"I suppose that this was your doing, Subaru?"
Thinking that the knight thought he was being this, he steps back
"Wha- no no no no no! The culprit you're looking for is there!" Pointing to where the body should have been, Subaru quavered
"She's gone!?"
Having a familiar sense of deja vu
He races towards Emilia, grabbing Rom's club in the process and pushes her away as he uses the club as a means for protection.
"She's aiming for the gut!" He yelled as the sudden force of the attack pushes him back a few meters
"Tch. The damn boy!" Elsa rasped.
"Halt!" The Sword Saint demanded.
Throwing her knife at Reinhard, it completely misses him as it curved to the left. Jumping on top of the building she declares,
"I'll disembowel everyone in here so till then, take good care of your bowels" jumping into another building acrobatically she leaves the scene without a trace…
"Are you alright ?" Reinhard asked, worried about her.
"Whether I'm alright doesn't matter, more importantly!" sliding past the knight, she reprimands the boy "are you alright? That was far too reckless!"
Already knowing where this was going Subaru grimly says "As much as I would like to continue this conversation Emilia-tan.. I-"
Confused on the "tan" part, She was about to ask when he had suddenly fallen into the floor bleeding out of his abdomen. Screaming his name, she frantically tries to heal him. Subaru couldn't help but think as her face was getting closer and closer, not noticing that it was falling on deaf ears quite literally.
'So no matter what I did I was going to faint?' Shifting his gaze towards the silver haired beauty he compliments her in his mind
'I know I said this before and I'll say it again… she looks really cute when she's worried' that being the last of his thoughts, his vision darkened, as it embraced the darkness….
