A/N Be sure to let me know what you think of this crossover. I do not own The Walking Dead or The Last of Us.
Chapter 8: Epilogue
Tired. Exhausted. Sore. Wounded. Regretful. Those were only a few words to describe their current mood. Lee was holding on to Clementine's hand and Joel kept his hand on Ellie's shoulder while they continued walking alone in the dead of night on the Talmadge Memorial Bridge. When they first started, there were bodies of the living and dead all over. Since then, they've not seen a single walker or Hunter anywhere. None of them felt the need to say anything. They just kept walking. Keep moving forward.
When they reached the end of the bridge, they had hoped to find at least someone from their crew waiting for them. But there was no sign of them anywhere. Hopefully, they were still on their way here. Staying true to their word, they come to a stop at the Savannah Harbor sign for another opportunity to rest and wait for as long as they can for somebody to meet up with them. The men sit on opposite ends with Lee feeling his left arm, not hurting as bad it did before, and Joel placing his elbows on his knees, rubbing his face. They could really go for a nap right about now. Right in between them on the ground, Ellie had an arm wrapped around Clementine's shoulder. They both have blood on their hands, and worst of all, Clem's parents are dead. But it wasn't a complete and total loss. At least Ellie managed to acquire a bow with a few arrows to go along with it, something she actually has experience in using before. And they still have each other.
Upon lifting his head up to look around the area, something had caught Joel's eye. Standing up from his spot, he walks over to a red pickup truck parked on the road that hadn't been stripped of its parts and switches on his torch to read the graffiti on the back. Written in white paint, it reads "LOOK FOR THE LIGHT". Taking a few steps closer, there was the Fireflies symbol graffiti in the truck bed. They still had their goal to find them. Based on the way the truck was parked and the symbol, he had assumed it was meant to be pointing northwest. If his brother, Tommy, and Ellie's friend, Riley, were really still with them, that's where they'll be.
But then, when he turned back to see the bridge, he saw something else that was concerning and returned to the others, who had gotten up from the sign. In the distance, they see a couple figures walking on the bridge. They still had the binoculars on them from their visit at the train station near the underpass. Joel retrieves them from his pack and uses them to get a look at who they were. Since it was still nighttime, it was really difficult to tell who it really was. Maybe it could be their crew. Or it could be more Hunters coming for them. Whoever it was, friend or foe, the four remain cautious and were prepared.
Clementine nervously took out her pistol with a frown, really hoping she wouldn't need to use again so soon. Lee looks down at her for a moment before focusing on the bridge with his hand reaching for his own firearm in his shoulder holster. Ellie, with her new bow in hand, draws an arrow from her pack. Joel had just finished reloading his revolver, holds his weapon close to his hip with a tight grip and noticed the approaching figures came to a stop. Knowing they have been spotted, he furrows his eyebrows and pulls back the hammer.

A/N And that's it. Season One of The Last Dead is officially complete. I really hope that you all enjoyed reading this from start to finish. Now, I'm gonna be honest for a minute here. When I first started this series, it was about... seven years ago. And that bums me out. It really should not have taken me this long and I am truly sorry that it did. I feel like I probably could've had it all done five years ago or so if I had put so much more effort in my writing, or even tried more of forcing myself to write. Writer's block has been such a bitch. I have such big plans of how I want this series to go.
Once again, I would like to give special thanks to GlaringEyes for assisting me with the crossover and being my best supporter. I'd also like to give thanks to The Good and The Bad X-Boy, NacNak and all the other readers for continuing to support this crossover. I'm curious to know your favorite moments were and how you think I handled adding in my own twists and changes in the story, as well as any other thoughts you have. Thanks again for reading this and I hope you all enjoyed.
Until next time, remember to stay safe, stay positive, take care of yourselves and each other.
Keep hope alive and keep moving forward.
See you on the other side.
