As the passengers lined up right outside the main passenger car for their final ticket punches, an elf band took over the compass-like dial in the center.
"Rockin' on top of the world! Rockin' on the top of the world! The place is hoppin', there ain't no stoppin', rockin' on top of the world! And if your spirits swing that girl, rockin' on top of the world tonight, yeah!"
All the elves in the center rejoiced and celebrated over another successful Christmas, and were more than ready to party all night long.
While that party was raging, a small group of four elves used a handcar to push the caboose up the tracks and back toward the rest of the train. As The Conductor finished punching the first three quarters of the passengers' tickets, the caboose reconnected to the rest of the train. The four elves manning the handcar all let go of the lever and dropped in exhaustion. Elsa laughed, but when Honeymarren shot her a glare, she stopped and cleared her throat while looking to the side.
"All right, ticket please." Said The Conductor as Ryder, the fourth-to-last passenger in line, handed his ticket to him. The Conductor punched a few more letters after the "LE" part and handed it back. Ryder grabbed it, and saw that it read "LEA N", much to his confusion. Though what he didn't know was that his finger was covering another letter.
"Lean?! Whatever that's supposed to mean! I come all this way, and the lesson I have to learn at the end of it is lean?!"
"Lean is spelled with four letters, I believe I punched five." Said The Conductor as he reclaimed it and held it in front of him.
"Hey, are you saying I don't know how to-" Ryder stopped mid-sentence as he took his ticket back, holding it from the ends this time. He saw the extra letter that his finger was covering.
"Oh. I'm sorry, it says "learn". My mistake."
"Lesson learned." Said The Conductor as Ryder stepped back into the passenger car.
"Ticket?"
Next in line was Kristoff. He handed his ticket to him, and The Conductor punched more letters in front of the "ON" he put there earlier. Kristoff took a look at it and saw that it read "DEPEND ON". He flipped it over, and it changed to "RELY ON". He flipped it over again, and it changed to "COUNT ON".
"That is some special ticket."
"It sure is."
"So, can you count on us to get you home, safe and sound?"
"Absolutely. Me, and my new friends."
The Conductor smiled as Kristoff entered the passenger car, and Honeymarren moved up the line.
"Ticket."
Honeymarren handed hers to The Conductor, and two more letters were punched behind her own "LE". He soon handed the finished product over to her, and she saw that it read "LEAD".
"It says "lead" (led), like lead balloon."
"I believe it also is pronounced "lead" (leed). As in leader, leadership, lead the way." The Conductor did a salute. "I'd follow you anywhere, ma'am!"
Honeymarren smiled and glanced back at Elsa.
"I guess it's not gonna be the same as Ryder's after all." Said Elsa.
Elsa and Honeymarren laughed as the latter boarded the passenger car, leaving Elsa, the last person in line, the only one whose ticket wasn't done getting punched.
"Ah yes, the lady with all the questions."
"Actually, sir, after all I've seen and been through tonight, I don't think I have any left to ask."
A small smile appeared on The Conductor's face.
"Ticket."
Elsa handed her ticket to him, and he took it behind him as he punched more letters into it without even looking. How is he so good at this? She thought. Once he finished, he handed it back to her. Elsa saw the word "BELIEVE" on it.
"It says-"
"Doop! It's nothing I need to know."
Elsa smiled and nodded as she went up the steps while The Conductor went into a passenger car closer to the engine. As Elsa reached the top of the stairs and faced the interior where everyone else was sitting and waiting, they stopped what they were doing to look at her as if she were a war hero that just returned from a mission. Elsa slipped her ticket into her left pocket, where it magically vanished into thin air.
"Come on! Show us!" "Come on, let's see the bell!"
"Come on, show us the bell!" Said Honeymarren as she led Elsa to her seat.
"Yeah, let's see the bell!" Said Ryder.
"Okay, if that's what you guys want." Said Elsa as she reached into her pocket, only for her fingers to poke out the hole at the bottom of it.
"What?"
Elsa felt around her whole pocket, checking again and again, but it soon hit her: She put the bell in her torn pocket, and it must have fallen out while she wasn't looking.
"It's gone."
The other kids gasped. "Where is it?"
"I lost it. I lost the bell from Santa's sleigh."
A downer silence fell upon the passengers, for the first gift of Christmas was lost.
"Don't worry! We'll, we'll find it!" Said Kristoff.
"Yeah! We'll help you! All of us!" Said Ryder.
The other kids instantly agreed with his idea. "Come on!" "Let's go!"
"Yeah, let's hurry out and find it right now!" Said Honeymarren.
But right as she, Kristoff, Ryder and the other kids started toward the sliding door, and right as Elsa was about to get out of her seat, the train gave a sudden lurch and started moving. Powerful, unmissable chugging sounds reached them, and they saw that the scenery around them was moving.
"It's too late." Said Honeymarren.
"Gee, that's really too bad." Said Ryder.
Honeymarren gave him an expression that said "Really?" even better than words could as she sat back in her seat next to Elsa.
"Really!"
Seeing that there was nothing he could do to help despite how much he wanted to, Ryder went to his seat, and Kristoff followed him. Elsa started sniffling. Honeymarren put her hand on her shoulder.
"I'm sorry."
Elsa remained silent, say for her sniffling, as the train slowly picked up speed. The other passengers were all silent as well. On either side of it, the elves were still busy in celebration. The train looped around the Christmas tree and started going back the way it came.
They were in for a long journey home.
