Blue's Christmas Guest
(Part 2 of 3)
[Opening sequence; snap to a long shot to an interior of a kindergarten classroom where it's filled with various objects everywhere: A bear on a wooden chair with a bowl that has a spoon on the left side, a table that has three colorful blocks under it and some crayons on its top on the right side, two bookshelves, one on the left side, and the other in the center where the pink-green-yellow rug is at, and a blackboard easel on the right. On the blackboard easel on the right are several paintings of some of Blue's friends: Tickety Tock, Shovel, Sidetable Drawer, and Magenta. On the bookshelf in the center of the classroom is a pink clock puzzle with twelve purple numbers, a diorama based on the story "Little Red Riding Hood," a wooden stacking tower toy, and a flowerpot on top, a plush octopus sitting next to Fred the toy chicken on top of a box of a barn on the left side, a plush giraffe sitting next to Boris, Joe's stuffed duck on the right side, and a small plush green snail with a mahogany shell underneath it. And on the bookshelf on the left is a curvy orange chapter book box holding a picture of a purple cat. Inside the central bookshelf are several types of children's books, including the book that says "Blue's Clues" on the top-center. Above the classroom are drawings of Blue and Magenta dancing to the rhythm of the music and a sky blue background drawing of several clouds above the central bookshelf, a butterfly reading a small green book above the plush octopus and Fred the toy chicken, and a picture of a red train behind the bookshelf on the left. The camera zooms in slowly to the center bookshelf while an instrumental version of 'Silent Night' plays.]
[Note:The diorama based on the story "Little Red Riding Hood" is from the episode called "Can You Help?". The paintings of Tickety Tock, Shovel, Sidetable Drawer, and Magenta, are from the episode called "Colors Everywhere!". The drawing of Blue and Magenta dancing to the rhythm of the music looks similar to the drawing back in the episode "Let's Boogie." And Fred the toy chicken is from the episode "Rhyme Time."]
[Blue hops into view as she gestures the viewers to come over here]
[Note: Blue is wearing a red Santa hat on her head.]
[Blue hops a few steps towards the central bookshelf.
[Cut to an extreme close-up of the book that says "Blue's Clues" where Blue grabs it from the top-center, then pull back where Blue sits down on the floor as she stands the book up.]
[Blue opens the book where it's now revealed to be a pop-up book as three-dimensional structures rises up as she opens said book: her house on a snowy hill in the middle, a bunch of flowers on the left, and a bare apple tree with a tire swing tied to its branch on the right.]
[Blue spins around and skidoos right into the pop-up book version of her neighborhood where she begins to dance, leaving trails of sparkles that magically bring said pop-up book to life, complete with two different houses on top of two more snowy hills on each side of Blue's house. On the left side is Periwinkle's house, and on the right side is Magenta's house; as Blue stops dancing for a moment, she runs up towards the camera where she pops up in front of said camera. Blue then hops on over to a snowy bush on the left side. Blue then hops on over to another snowy bush on the right side. Blue then hops on over to the center of the pathway.]
[Afterwards, the camera then zooms in slowly as Blue hops a little closer to the light purple doggy door. The camera stops as Blue finally makes it to the doggy door. Blue goes inside the light purple doggy door; the camera zooms in on said doggy door. The camera zooms in to reveal Blue inside the living room; the living room features the Thinking Chair in the middle, a Christmas wreath above the Thinking Chair, the picture frame that has a picture of Blue, Joe and Steve in the right, and their friend, Sidetable Drawer—in her inanimate form, in the left and sitting on a pillow.]
Blue: Shh!
[Blue then hops o.c. left as the camera follows her. She stops in front of the Christmas tree and places a green and orange striped present under it, as she giggles to herself. As she does that, red letters in green outer line fade in, spelling out the episode's title, "Blue's Christmas Guest.".]
[As Blue hops back to the living room, the letters fade out and the opening sequence ends.]
Blue: [barks "Steve! Joe! Look who's here!"]
[Steve and Joe walk towards the audience from o.c right, in fluffy sweaters, gray sweatpants and slippers. They stop in front of the door. Blue hops o.c left, giggling.]
Steve: Oh hi. You're here.
Joe: Come on in. Everyone's about to wake up.
Blue: [hops back towards Steve and Joe, barking happily, before hopping o.c left.]
Steve: [turns towards Blue in awe] Really? That's great, Blue.
Blue: [barks "I know! Come on!"]
Steve: [turns towards the viewers] Come on.
[Cut to the left side of the living room, with Blue looking in her light blue stocking with dark blue polka dots. Steve and Joe walk towards her and sit down on the floor. Blue smiles and grabs a two toned green stocking and a purple stocking with lavender squares, hopping towards Steve and Joe and handing them the stockings.]
Steve: Oh. Thanks, Blue.
Blue: [barks "You are welcome, Steve."]
Joe: "Thanks, Blue."
Blue: [barks "You are welcome, Joe."]
[Blue then sits down next to Steve, holding her stocking in her paws.]
Steve: So, who's gonna look inside their stocking first?
Joe: You go first, you're the guest.
Blue: [nods her head.]
Steve: Okay.
[Steve sticks his hand in the stocking and pulls out a crescent shaped present wrapped in green wrapping paper]
Joe: "What is it, Steve?
Steve: Hmm…it's curvy, smells sweet and is light. I think I know what it is. [turns towards the audience] Do you know what this is?
Viewers: "A banana!"
[Steve proceeds to unwrap the present. It is, in fact a banana.]
Steve: It is! It's a banana.
Blue: [nods her head; barks "Your turn, Joe."]
[Joe sticks his hand in the stocking, and a quacking noise is heard. Joe pulls his hand out and chuckles.]
Joe: Did you hear that? [the viewers respond]. What makes that sound?
Viewers: A duck.
Joe: A duck?
[Joe sticks his hand back in the stocking and pulls out a yellow rubber duck.]
Joe: So it is. Look. A rubber duck. [squeezes it] Quack, quack.
[Blue and Steve giggle, alongside the viewers]
Steve: Your turn, Blue.
[Blue nods her head and pulls out a turquoise box. She sniffs it and licks her lips.]
Joe: What's in the box, Blue?
Blue: [barks "It smells sweet, is shaped in a circle and it's something I love to eat."]
Joe: Oh. [turns to the viewers] What is sweet, is shaped like a circle and is something Blue loves to eat?
Viewers: Cookies.
Blue: [nods her head, pulls out a box of banana cookies; barks "Want some?"]
Steve: Maybe we can wait to share those with the others, Blue.
Blue: [shrugs; barks "Okay," and puts the box of cookies beside her]
[Steve, Joe and Blue then hear the others begin to wake up and smile]
Joe: Looks like everyone's up, guys.
Steve: Yup. And it is nice to spend the Christmas season with family. Right, Blue?
[Blue nods her head, smiling.]
Steve: Yeah.
Blue: [barks "Guess what! I invited someone over to spend the day!"]
Steve and Joe: "You did?"
Joe, to the viewers: Blue invited someone over for Christmas.
Steve: [turns towards Blue] Who is it, Blue?
Blue: [puts a paw to her lips]
Steve: Not gonna tell us, huh?
[Blue giggles while shaking her head, she then runs up towards the camera, and places a blue pawprint on the screen; cymbal roll sound—meaning it's time to play another one of Blue's Clues!]
Steve: I should've known…
Joe: We're gonna play 'Blue's Clues' to find out who Blue invited to spend the holidays.
Steve: I missed playing 'Blue's Clues'.
[The music starts playing "We Are Gonna Play Blue's Clues" as Steve and Joe begins to swing their arms.]
Steve and Joe:
We are gonna play Blue's Clues.
'Cause it's a really great game!
Yeah!
[The music ends with Steve and Joe giving the viewers two thumbs-up on the last verse.]
Joe: Now, remember, Blue's pawprint will be on the clues…
Steve and Joe: [starts opening and closing their hands for the signature move] …Blue's clues.
[the pawprint then turns into many blue snowflakes and get blown away by a gust of wind]
Steve: Now that's impressive
Joe: Yeah. You know what we need for a Christmas game of- [opens and closes his hands] -Blue's Clues? Our Handy-Dandy...
Viewers: Notebook!
Steve: Notebook. [pulls out his beige Handy Dandy Notebook and a ding of a chime is heard] Right.
Joe: You wait here, guys. I'll go get mine.
Steve: Or we can take turns using mine.
Joe: That'll work, too. Steve, do you still remember how to play?
Steve: I think so…
[The music starts playing "The Blue's Clues Theme Song". Steve and Joe turn back towards the viewers.]
Steve: To play Blue's Clues, we've gotta find a...
Viewers: Pawprint!
Steve: Oh, a pawprint! Right!
Joe: And that's our first...
Viewers: Clue!
Steve: A clue?
Viewers: A clue!
Joe: [he and Steve begin to run o.c right] Then we put it in our...
Viewers: Notebook!
[Cut to a full shot of the living room where Steve and Joe come into view; the picture frame now has a white background picture of Blue, Steve and Joe celebrating their first holiday together. During the song, Blue joins in and starts doing something whenever Steve/Joe sings the following words: she raises her ears up when they sing "Blue's Clues", shows her pawprint when they sing "Pawprint", pulls out Steve's notebook with her mouth when they sing "Notebook", and copies Steve and Joe's movements when they sing "Think."]
Steve and Joe:
Because they're Blue's Clues, Blue's Clues!
Steve:
We've gotta find another pawprint.
[Blue shows her pawprint.]
Joe:
That's our second clue!
Steve:
We put it in our notebook.
[Blue pulls out Steve's notebook with her mouth.]
'Cause they're whose clues?
Steve and Joe:
Blue's Clues!
Joe:
We've gotta find the last pawprint.
[Blue shows her pawprint again]
Steve:
That's the third clue!
Joe:
We put it in our notebook.
[Blue pulls out Joe's notebook with her mouth again.]
Steve and Joe:
'Cause they're Blue's Clues, Blue's Clues!
Steve:
You know what to do!
Joe:
Sit down in our Thinking Chair.
[Cut to a medium long shot of Blue sitting down on the Thinking Chair with Steve on the left and Joe on the right.]
Joe:
And think,
Steve:
Think,
Steve and Joe:
Think!
[Pull back where Blue, Joe and Steve get up from the Thinking Chair.]
Steve:
'Cause when we use our minds.
Joe:
And take a step at a time.
Steve and Joe:
We can do anything...
[Steve and Joe duck down as Blue leaps toward the camera.]
Blue:
Ba-bow!
Steve and Joe: [pops up, facing towards the viewers]
Steve and Joe:
That we wanna do!
[The theme song ends with Steve and Joe giving jazz hands after the last verse.]
Steve: So, are you ready to play 'Blue's Clues' to find out who Blue invited over?
[the viewers respond]
Joe: You are? [gives a thumbs up] Great.
[Unbeknownst to them, Blue walks behind them and walks o.c. to the left. They turn around to find Blue, then turns back to the viewers.]
Steve: Did you see which way Blue went?
Viewers: That way!
Joe: [pointing o.c right] That way?
Steve: I think they meant [points o.c left] that way.
Joe: Oh.
Steve: Come on.
[Cut to the other side of the living room where Steve and Joe start walking across from the hallway to the kitchen as the camera follows him on the way; the music starts playing "We Are Looking for Blue's Clues" as they continue walking; the felt frame has a picture of Freddy Felt Friend and Fifi Felt Friend wearing reindeer antlers and singing carols.]
[Note: The snail is hiding behind the toy chest]
[They leads the viewers to the kitchen; the kitchen features a window that has red and white striped drapes, and the refrigerator with a picture of a Christmas card hanged by four magnetic letters (N, O, E, L), and a picture of Blue's school hanged by six more magnetic letters (F, R, I, E, N, D). Three stocking hang from the cabinet. The picture of the school has a pawprint on it.]
Viewers: A clue! A clue!
Steve: A shoe? Blue invited a shoe over for Christmas?
Viewers: No, it's a clue.
[They turn around to see the pawprint on the picture; a drum roll sound is heard. Steve approaches the picture as we cut to a close-up of the picture as Steve comes into view.]
Steve: It is a clue…and it's on this picture of…
Viewers: School
Steve: School. Right.
Joe: So Blue's school is our first clue.
Steve: You know what we need?
Joe: Our Handy Dandy…
Viewers: Notebook!
Steve: [pulls out Notebook] Notebook! [a ding of a chime is heard] Right. [Cut to a close-up of the first blank notebook page where tuba music begins to play as Steve begins to draw our first clue: Blue's school.]
Steve, from o.c: We start with a trapezoid for the roof, a square for the building, a rectangle for the doors, two lines going up, and a triangle connecting them. Then we add the bell and two doorknobs. And there. Blue's school. [close-up of him holding his notebook.] So, who could've Blue invited with…her school?
[The camera turns up slightly where an image of the school drawing rises above Steve's right side as he looks up; a saxophone is heard. Steve turns back to the viewers, who responds to his earlier question.]
Steve: Maybe. But, I think we need to find two more clues.
Paprika, from o.c: No! I'm going first!
Cinnamon, from o.c: No. I am.
Steve: What's going on?
Joe: I…have no idea. Let's check it out.
[cut to the Shaker family on the kitchen counter, with Paprika and Cinnamon arguing and Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper trying to calm them down. Steve, Joe and Blue walk towards them.]
Steve: Hey, Mr. Salt. Mrs. Pepper. What's going on?
Mr. Salt: Well-
Paprika: I'm older, so I'm opening my present first.
Cinnamon: No fair.
Joe: This sounds familiar…
Steve: Yeah…
Blue: [nods her head; barks "Yeah…it does sound familiar…"]
Steve: Paprika, Cinnamon, what's wrong?
Paprika: I wanna open my present first.
Cinnamon: Me too.
Mrs. Pepper: But they can't agree on who wants to open their present first.
Mr. Salt: Paprika wants to open hers first because she's older, but Cinnamon wants to open up his present first because he's younger.
Joe: Hmm…
Steve: I have an idea. Mr. Salt, do you have a coin?
Mr. Salt: Mais oui. [pulls out a chocolate coin] Why'd you ask?
Steve: I was thinking, maybe Paprika and Cinnamon can flip a coin to see who opens their present first.
Mrs. Pepper: That's a great idea, Steve.
Steve: [turns towards Paprika and Cinnamon] Have either of you ever flipped a coin?
Cinnamon: No.
Paprika: Me neither. How's it done?
Steve: Okay, so one of you calls out 'heads' and the other calls out 'tails'. If you call out 'heads' and it lands on 'heads', you win.
Paprika: I think I understand.
Cinnamon: Same.
Mr. Salt: [holding the coin in his hand] Alright then. Heads or tails?
Paprika: Tails.
Cinnamon: Heads.
Mr. Salt: Here we go… [flips the coin in the air] heads or tails? [the coin lands on the counter and Mr. Salt hops over to read it] Heads.
Cinnamon: So I go first?
Joe: Yeah.
Cinnamon: Okay!
[Mrs. Pepper hops over to the Shaker family's spoon shaped tree and pulls out a square shaped present wrapped in blue wrapping paper]
Mrs. Pepper: [hands the present to Cinnamon] Here you go, Cinnamon
Cinnamon: Thanks, mommy. [attempts to open the present] A little help please?
Paprika: I can help you. [helps Cinnamon tear open some wrapping paper] Your turn.
Cinnamon: [yanks off some more wrapping paper until all the wrapping paper is removed] I did it! [tries to open the box] Help again, please?
[Mrs. Pepper lifts up Cinnamon, who proceeds to open the top of the box, and pull out a toy bear made of bread]
Cinnamon: Wow! A bear! Thanks!
Mrs. Pepper: You're welcome.
Paprika: My turn! [hops over towards the tree and pulls out a light blue bag with a snowflake design on it and white wrapping paper inside it] What is this? [tosses out some wrapping paper to see a toy graham cracker cellphone in the bag and pulls it out] My very own phone? Cool. Thanks.
Mr. Salt: You're welcome.
Paprika: Mom. Dad. Cinnamon and I made you something. I'll go get it. Wait right here! [hops o.c left, returns carrying a drawing of her, Cinnamon, their parents and their grandma Cayenne] Tada!
Cinnamon: We drew it all by ourselves, too
Mrs. Pepper: It's perfect.
Blue: [wags her tail; barks "Isn't that cute?"]
Joe: Yeah Blue. It is cute.
Steve: See you around, Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper. Joe, Blue and I are looking for clues.
Mr. Salt: Good luck
[cut to the bedroom, where Blue enters from o.c left. Tickety is looking at a present decorated with hot pink wrapping paper and white numbers all over it in delight. Steve and Joe walk over and kneel beside her.]
Steve: Hey Tickety. What's in the box?
Tickety: I don't know. I'm too excited to open it up.
Blue: [barks "We'll help you."]
Tickety: It's okay, Blue. I'll open it [tears off some wrapping paper and lifts the top off the box, climbs inside and emerges with a purple, circular box with a lid and crank]. Look what I found.
Steve: What is it?
Tickety: I don't know…it has a nice crank though
Blue: [barks "Trying cranking it up."]
Tickety: Okay. [cranks the present, but nothing happens] Huh?
Joe: That is very strange.
Blue: [barks "Is it broken?"]
Joe: I don't think so.
Tickety: Maybe if I open it… [opens the lid, the tune 'Hickory Dickory Dock' begins playing]
Joe: Wow.
Steve: [to the viewers] Do you know what Tickety's present is?
Viewers: A music box.
Tickety: And it plays 'Hickory Dickory Dock'. That's my favorite song.
Steve: It sure is pretty.
[Blue begins walking o.c left with Joe and Steve following her, the picture frame had a picture of a Christmas tree in it, and taped to the wall was a paper with pawprints with Blue's pawprint on it. Steve and Joe are oblivious to this.]
Viewers: A clue! A clue!
Joe: Yeah. That was a nice tune.
Steve: [turns around to see the pawprints, a faint drum roll sound is heard] Uh, Joe…look behind you…
[Joe looks behind him, only to see the pawprints; a drum roll sound is heard. Joe approaches the picture as we cut to a close-up of the picture as Joe comes into view.]
Joe: Our second clue…and it's these…
Viewers: Pawprints.
Joe: Well, time to draw this clue in our Handy Dandy Holly Jolly…
Viewers: Notebook!
Steve: [hands Joe his Handy Dandy Notebook] Notebook.
Joe: Notebook. Thanks, big bro. [takes out the crayon and opens the notebook] So, our second clue is these pawprints… [flips through one page and looks at the Notebook]
[Cut to a close-up of the second blank notebook page where tuba music begins to play again as Joe prepares to write down the second clue: pawprints.]
Joe, from o.c: We start with a dot and add four tiny toes. Let's do another one, and one more. And there. Pawprints. [close-up of him holding his notebook] So our first clue was…
Viewers: Blue's school.
Joe: Blue's school [The camera turns up slightly where an image of the drawing of Blue's school rises above Joe's right side as he looks up; a saxophone is heard. Joe turns back to the viewers.] And our second clue are these pawprints. [The pawprint drawings rise up above Joe's left side as he looks in that direction; a steel drum is heard.] Who could Blue have invited with her school and pawprints? [the viewers answer.] It could be, but I think we should find our final clue.
Blue, from o.c: [barks "Steve! Joe!"]
[The camera then cuts to Blue in front of Sidetable Drawer, holding a snow globe in her paws. Steve and Joe kneel down to see what Blue's holding.]
Sidetable Drawer: Blue, what're you doing?
Steve: Sometimes, I wish I knew the answer.
[Blue places the snow globe atop Sidetable Drawer and hops o.c camera right. The camera pans over to a wide view of the living room. The picture frame has a picture of blue and magenta snowflakes. Blue then begins to bark "Blue Skidoo" as she spins around and skidoos right into the snow globe.]
Sidetable Drawer: Wait! Blue? Where are you? Blue?
Blue, from inside the snow globe: [barks "Up here."]
Joe: Sidetable, Blue just skidooed into the snow globe.
Steve: Come on, Joe.
[Steve and Joe walk over to the left of the Thinking Chair as they get themselves ready into position. The music starts playing "Blue Skidoo" as Steve and Joe begins to start dancing.]
Steve and Joe:
Blue skidoo, we can too!
[The music ends as the brothers skidoo into the snow globe. They wind up in a London-esque village full of sentient presents. Above them is a sign reading "Welcome to Christmas Town".]
Joe: Wow. The inside of the snow globe is bigger than I thought it would be.
[Two presents then hop towards them They are a tall, rectangular, red present with a yellow bow and a shorter, rectangular, green present with a brown bow and wearing red noise cancelling headphones with a white band.]
Blue: [barks "Hi there."]
Steve: Hi. I'm Steve, this is my brother Joe, my dog Blue and our friends. What're your names?
Red Present: I'm Garcia and this is my son Harold. We're just picking up a relative from the airport. His name is James
Joe: Cool. Need some help?
Garcia: Yes, please. You see…we can't remember which road to take!
Steve: Hmm… [notices a road map and looks at it.] Maybe this roadmap will help.
[A close up of the roadmap shows two rows of five houses and two paths-one that's red and white and the other that's silver and gold. The red and white path leads to an airport while the gold and silver path leads to a bakery.]
Steve, from o.c: Which road should Garcia and Harold take to get to the airport?
Viewers: That one! / The red and white one!
[Cut back to Steve, Joe, Blue and the presents.]
Garcia: That's Candy Cane road.
Steve: So, we take Candy Cane road, then.
[Steve, Joe, Blue and the presents begin walking down Candy Cane road until coming across a row of buildings: a barbershop, a library, an airport, a grocery store and a music store. We cut to a close up of these buildings.]
[Note: The snail is in the window in front of the library.]
Joe, from o.c: Which building is the airport?
Viewers: That one!
[the airport is highlighted in neon green with white sparkles as an airplane flies overhead. A tall, red, rectangular present with a green bow hops towards the group.]
Garcia: James. Hi
James: [hops towards Garcia, hugging her] Hi aunt Garcia. Hi Harold. [notices Steve, Joe and Blue] Are these your friends?
Garcia: Yes. This is Steve, Joe and Blue
Steve and Joe: Hi
Blue: [waves her paw] Bow, bow!
James: How'd you guys find me so quickly?
Steve: We had a little help.
Garcia: Thanks.
James: Yeah! Thanks. Here. [hands Steve a present] Consider it a 'thank you gift'.
Steve: Thanks.
James: You're welcome. [he, Garcia and Harold hop o.c left]
Joe: Come on, we better get back home, too. Blue's guest could already be waiting for us.
Steve: Can we see what's in the box, first?
Joe: Okay.
[Steve opens the top of the box and pulls out a pair of green glasses with the final pawprint on them.]
Viewers: A clue! A clue!
Steve: Yeah. I like them, too.
Viewers: No. A clue.
[Steve and Joe look at the glasses as a drum roll sound is heard.]
Steve: There's a clue on these…
Joe: Glasses, Steve.
Steve: Well, you know what we need.
Joe: Our Handy Dandy…
Steve: Holly Jolly…
Joe: Always Festive…
Blue: Ahem…
Steve: Sorry [turns to the viewers] you can say it, now.
Viewers: Notebook!
Joe: [pulls out the Handy Dandy Notebook as the ding of a chime is heard] Notebook. Right [hands it to Steve]. Your turn.
Steve: Thanks, Joseph. [takes out the crayon and opens the notebook] Okay, so... [flips through a couple of pages] our third clue…glasses. [looks at his notebook]
[Cut to a close-up of the third blank notebook page where tuba music begins to play once again as Steve prepares to write our third and final clue: glasses.]
Steve, from o.c: We start with two circles, with a line connecting them and two curved lines to go around the ears. And there. Glasses. [pullback to Steve, Joe and Blue.]
Steve: And that's our third clue. We have all three clues!
Joe: We're ready to sit in our…
Viewers: Thinking Chair!
Steve and Joe: Thinking Chair!
Steve: I missed this part.
Joe: Come on!
[Steve and Joe follow Blue back to the center of Christmas Town, where a snow globe decorated like the living room is seen, Blue begins to bark "Blue Skidoo" as she spins around and skidoos right back into the globe with Steve and Joe following her. Cut to Steve and Joe entering the living room via snow globe and running for the Thinking Chair. Blue is sitting in the Thinking Chair, and signals over at them to lean in. Joe leans in from the right and Steve from the left.]
Steve: Okay…now that we're in our Think Chair…kind of…let's… [pulls out his notebook as the ding of a chime is heard] think! [flips open the Notebook]
Joe: So…who is Blue inviting over with…her school…
[The school drawing rises above Blue's left side once again as they look up; a saxophone is heard. Joe turns back to the viewers.]
Steve: [flips a page in the notebook] …pawprints…
[The drawing of pawprints rises above Blue's right side once again as they look up; a steel drum is heard. Steve turns back to the viewers.]
Joe: …and glasses?
[Steve flips another page of the Handy Dandy Notebook as the drawing of glasses rises in between the school drawing and pawprints drawing as they look up; a bass is heard. Steve and Joe turn back towards the viewers.]
Steve and Joe: Hmm...
Steve: What if this is one of Blue's friends from school? [the drawing of the school enlarges a little before returning to natural size]
Joe: Good thinking! And what if it's an animal that makes pawprints? [the pawprint drawing enlarges a little before returning to natural size] Then…what about the glasses? [the glasses drawing enlarges a little before returning to natural size].
Steve: Maybe it's someone who wears glasses.
Joe: [turns towards the viewers] Do you know who Blue invited?
Viewers: Magenta!
Steve and Joe: Magenta?
[The three drawings then emerge into a drawing of Magenta]
Joe: Oh! Cause Magenta goes to Blue's school…
Steve: She wears glasses…
Joe: And she makes pawprints!
Steve: Blue! Is that who you invited over? Magenta?
Blue: [nods her head, begins singing 'Magenta's Coming Over'.]
Steve and Joe: We just figured out 'Blue's Clues'!
[The music for 'We Sat on Down' begins to play as Steve and Joe begin to sing]
Joe:
We sat on down.
Steve:
Figured it out.
Steve and Joe:
What Blue's Clues were all about.
Steve:
Wow, you know what?
Steve and Joe:
We're really smart!
[The music ends as we hear the three last tunes before there's a knock at the door.]
Steve: That must be Magenta.
[Cut to Blue opening the door for Magenta, who is carrying a pretty turquoise present in her paws.]
Blue: [barks "Magenta!"]
Magenta: [barks "Blue!"]
[Blue invites Magenta inside and Magenta hands Blue the present]
Magenta: [barks "For you."]
Blue: [barks "For me? Thank you."]
Magenta: [barks "You're welcome."]
[Blue then proceeds to open her present and smiles happily. It's a picture of Blue and Magenta with Steve and Joe. Blue hugs Magenta out of gratitude, and Magenta reciprocates the hug.]
Steve and Joe: Aww
Chorus:
Mail time, mail time, mail time, mail time, mail time!
Steve: Mail's here.
[Mailbox proceeds to stick his head all the way inside the house, surprising everyone.]
Mailbox: Can we take this inside? It's quite cold outside. Brrr.
Steve: Alright.
[The music starts playing "Mailtime" as Steve and Joe begin to start dancing.]
Joe:
Here's the mail, it never fails!
Steve:
It makes me wanna wag my tail!
Steve and Joe:
When it comes we wanna wail...
MAIL!
[Mailbox proceeds to open his lid, and Steve reaches for a white letter with a picture of Blue on it and a red stamp in the right corner with a bell on it.]
Steve: Blue just got a letter.
Steve:
Blue just got a letter
Blue just got a letter
Blue just got a letter
I wonder who it's from...
[Steve hands the letter to Blue, who shows it to Magenta before opening the red lid. It reveals Green Puppy, Periwinkle, Purple Kangaroo and Orange Kitten playing together in the snow.]
Steve: Look, Blue and Magenta. It's a letter from your friends.
Green Puppy: [barks "Hi Blue. Happy holidays."]
Orange Kitten: Have a wonderful holiday, Blue.
Purple Kangaroo: I hope you enjoy yourself.
Periwinkle: Hi Blue. I hope you have a purr-fect Christmas. [turns towards Green Puppy, Purple Kangaroo and Orange Kitten] Get it? A purr-fect Christmas? Because cats purr and-
Orange Kitten: We get it, Peri. Good joke.
Purple Kangaroo, Orange Kitten and Periwinkle: Bye, Blue
Green Puppy:[barks "Bye Blue.".]
Blue: [waves 'bye', closes the letter and hugs it tightly.]
Magenta: [hugs Blue]
Steve: [looks around to see everyone gathered around.] Now this is one Christmas I'll never forget
Joe: Same.
[The others nod their heads and join in a group hug before pulling back again. The music starts playing "The So Long Song" as Steve and Joe begins to sing.]
Steve:
Now it's time for so long.
But we'll sing just
one more song.
Joe:
Thanks for doing your part.
You sure are smart.
Steve:
You know with me
and you
Joe:
and our friend, Blue,
[Blue waves at the viewers]
Steve and Joe:
We can do anything
that we wanna do!
We can do anything that we wanna do!
Everyone:
That we wanna do!
Steve: Bye, and thanks for all your help.
Joe: We couldn't have done it without you.
[The camera then pans over to the front door as it closes. Blue then pops out from the left window and Magenta from the right, both waving at the viewers.]
Blue and Magenta: [bark "Bye."]
