A/N: Thank you for the comments.

Sheppardlover928 - To be completely honest I have no idea what the end game is. When I started it I did, but as I have gone on I have considered most outcomes and keep changing my mind. I will hopefully commit to something soon.

Bobbi - Thanks

"I hate my life." Jennifer complained as she entered Laura's quarters a few days later, after her friend had returned from an off world mission.

"Teyla didn't take it as well as you thought?" Laura guessed.

"No, she was fine. She also offered to get Ronon to back off using other means."

"Sounds ominous. So what's the issue? Another off world mission?" Laura guessed.

"No. Although that might help."

"You going off world will help? Things must be bad. What happened?"

"Apparently dating the colonel has made me more desirable."

"What?"

"The infirmary has been inundated with military suffering from sparring injuries. Injuries not caused by Ronon, but by each other so they can come and see me and ask me out."

"But you are dating the Colonel." Laura said confused.

"And that is the problem. If the Colonel wants me there must be something to me. Before I was just a loner nerd, now I am a desirable loner nerd. So now they are after me."

"Isn't that career suicide?"

"Well seeing it is the Colonel, they are convinced he will cheat on me with an alien babe, which will leave me distraught and in need of their love."

"Their?"

"The male military. I never wanted to date. How did having two suitors turn into most of the city? Why can't they just leave me alone? And why are you laughing?"

"Because it's a little funny."

"No it's not." Jennifer complained as her door chimed.

"Hey doc." John greeted as Jennifer opened the door. Seeing she was looking stressed he asked.

"What's going on?"

"The city is waiting for you to cheat on her and get dumped." Laura said before adding a, "Sir."

"I'm not that type of guy." John protested.

When neither woman agreed with him he added. "I'm not."

"You do have a reputation." Jennifer said.

"One you have chosen to ignore." Laura reminded her.

"You are enjoying this way to much." Jennifer said.

"Yes I am." Laura agreed. "But dating, fake or otherwise might help you loosen up. You need to have some fun."

"I agree with the Lieutenant, so why not join me for golf?" John asked.

"You have met her?" Laura asked.

"Golf is a bad idea?" John asked.

"Golf is fine." Jennifer replied.

"It is?" Laura asked confused.

"It is." Jennifer replied.

-00-

"How was golf?" Lorne asked.

"Laura told you?"

"Yes. But only after I had heard several people talking about it. I'm impressed you played."

"Technically it was just whacking balls off a pier."

"True, but you don't like sports, especially golf."

"But the Colonel does and he is taken the flack for this plan so doing his thing seemed a good thank you."

"How noble." Lorne smiled. "But you could get something out of this."

"I am. Misery."

"I meant financially. There is a book on when you will dump him."

"You always strike me as a stickler for the rules, but deep down you have no ethics." Jennifer said.

"You were the one who made a killing after you helped the Colonel cheat in the fight. That was a prime example of insider betting."

"I didn't know for sure it would work. This time you are asking me to deliberately end our relationship at a set time to make money."

"I wan't asking you anything, just suggesting it. Besides if I really wanted to make a killing I would get the Colonel to dump you. That is very long odds."

"This is such a messed up Galaxy." Jennifer complained as her radio bleeped.

"Is that your date?" Lorne asked.

"Ha ha." Jennifer replied unimpressed before answering the radio.

"Thank you for seeing me." Woolsey said.

"It seemed like it wasn't optional." Jennifer pointed out.

"Quite." Woolsey replied before asking. "Is the Colonel coming?"

"Should he be?" Jennifer asked.

"Well yes. I asked him to come as well."

"Well I was in the infirmary, so I don't know where he was." Jennifer said as the door opened. When John walked in and saw Jennifer he asked.

"Is there more training?"

"No." Woolsey smiled. "Please sit."

"Is there a problem?" Jennifer asked.

"Maybe." Woolsey said. "But I would like to start with something slightly off topic." He went on looking at John. "I know there are many in both the military and the IOA who have questioned your professionalism, but I would like to say how professional you have both acted over your relationship. In fact you have been so professional I still find it had to believe you are in a relationship, but that is the way it should be. So well done." He said. "But that being said we have run into a problem."

"The IOA is banning relationships?" Jennifer asked.

"No. Not that I know of. It is more local. Since your relationship with the Colonel became public, many teams have expressed a desire to not take you off world."

"Since my relationship became public?" Jennifer asked.

"Yes."

"Are they all nuts?" Jennifer asked. "I mean, why not take that stance before? I was just as jinxed then."

"This has nothing to do with your perception of luck." Woolsey said. "It is to do with a fear of what Colonel Sheppard might do to the team should something happen to you."

"Well I can stay here." Jennifer said.

"That's not an option." Woolsey said. "You are CMO after all."

"We can take her back." John offered.

"No. That is still against the rules." Woolsey said.

"So what am I meant to do?" Jennifer asked.

"You, nothing. But Colonel, I would like you to talk to the teams and ensure them that you will not do anything extreme, in the event of an accident, because you are dating Dr Keller."

"May I do that now?" John asked.

"Of course." Woolsey said.

"This is Colonel Sheppard, I have an announcement for all military personnel. It has been brought to my attention that there is an unwillingness to escort Dr Keller off world due to a fear of what I might do should something happen. So I want to clarify a few things. Firstly, this isn't a democracy, you go on the missions you are ordered two. Secondly, I assure you that regardless of what happens on a mission I will not take extreme action because of my relationship with Dr Keller. But to be clear if any civilian member of the expedition gets injured off-world the military team will be undergoing personal training with Ronon for a month. Any team who expresses a wish not to escort any civilian gets field training with Ronon for a month. That's all."

Having killed the connection he looked at Woolsey and said. "Hopefully that has clarified things." He then looked at Jennifer and asked. "Shall we?"

"Sure." Jennifer said following him out of Woolsey's office.

"Sir." A young Captain said jogging up to Colonel Sheppard.

"Yes." John said pausing slightly as he tried to recall his name.

"Fletcher, sir."

"Right. What can I do for you Fletcher?"

"I would like to volunteer my team."

"For?"

"Escorting Dr Keller off world."

"You would?" John and Jennifer asked in almost unison.

"Yes Sir."

"Okay." John replied before walking off with Jennifer.

"So is he stupid, a brown noser or just terrified of Ronon?" Jennifer asked when they were out of reach.

"To be honest, I don't no much about him." John confessed. "But I will check his file tonight. Don't worry he won't be on escort duty until someone has vouched for him."
