Three weeks later Mandy had just got done eating dinner. In two days Randy was coming to her house for dinner. They both couldn't wait. Her house phone lit up brightly indicating it was ringing. She picked it up. It connected on the TV.

"Hello?" She said.

"Hi baby." Randy said.

"Hi honey."

"What are you doing?"

"I just got done eating dinner."

"Did you have a good day?"

"Yeah." "Did you win your match?"

"Yes I did."

"Good."

"Have you spoken to your parents yet?"

"No."

"Mandy it's been three weeks."

"I know."

"I don't want to come between you and your parents."

"I don't want to talk about it."

"Ok." "What do you want to talk about?"

"How's your signing coming?"

"I still suck at it." "I'm trying really hard."

"I know." "Don't stress yourself out over it."

"You'll have to teach Alanna when she's older." "I don't think I'll be able to."

"Randy, you remember I'm a teacher right." "I know how to teach people things."

"I know." "I can't wait to see you."

"I can't wait either." "I just hope you like my cooking."

"I'm sure I will." "I think I've been driving John a little nuts."

"Why?"

"I don't stop talking about you."

"Aw."

"I have to go but I'll call you tomorrow."

"Ok bye."

"Bye."

The next afternoon Mandy had been home from work for about a half hour. Her lights started to blink. When she answered the door Janey was standing there. She walked away from the door. Janey went inside.

Unless you've come to apologize, I have absolutely nothing to say to you. Mandy signed.

We're sorry. Janey signed. We know we've upset you. We want to invite Randy to Thanksgiving dinner.

Really?

Yes. We think we should get to know him.

I have to ask him first. He might have plans with his daughter.

Ok.

The next night Mandy was waiting for Randy. The lights blinked. She answered the door. Randy was standing there.

"Hi." She said.

"Hi." He went inside. They kissed.

"Something smells good."

"I'm making meatloaf, mashed potatoes and corn bread."

"That sounds great."

They were sitting down eating.

"What do you think?" She asked.

"This is great."

"Good." "My mom came over yesterday."

"Did you guys make up?"

"Yes."

"Good."

"She wants to know if you want to come to Thanksgiving in a few weeks."

"I'd love to."

"Really?"

"Yes." "Did you figure I would say no?"

"I just know there's a big language barrier between them and you." "I know you're working on your sign language but…

"I'll make it work."

After dinner they were sitting on the couch watching a movie. He tapped her on the shoulder. She looked at him.

Do you want to lay down here with me? He signed slowly.

"Good job Randy." Yes. She signed. "Let me go grab a blanket." She went and got a blanket. She laid down on top of Randy. He put the blanket over both of them. They fell asleep.

The next morning Mandy woke up first. She got up went into the kitchen and started making the coffee. As it was brewing she felt Randy's arms wrap around her waist. She smiled and turned to face him.

"Good morning." She said.

"Good morning." "Come here." They kissed. He took off her shirt and sat her on the kitchen table. He started kissing the side of her neck. She moaned. His cell phone start to ring. He stopped.

Don't stop. She signed.

"My phone is ringing." He answered it. "Hello?" "One second." He covered the receiver. "It's my boss, I have to take this." I'm sorry. He signed.

By the time Randy got off the phone, he had to go back to the hotel and pack.
