Mandy decided to go on the road with Randy for the summer. She was having a great time. She loved seeing Randy every day. Tomorrow was Alanna's third birthday. Randy was glad he was going to be at home so he could spend it with her. Alanna was spending the night with Mandy and Randy tomorrow. Mandy and Randy had just gotten to his house.
What do you want for dinner baby? She signed.
Let's order from that chicken place we like. He signed.
Ok. You know, your signings gotten really good.
I'm still not perfect at it.
I know but compared to where you were just a few months ago, you've really improved. I'm proud of you. They kissed.
The next morning when Randy woke up Mandy wasn't next to him. When he could smell a cake baking, he remembered she was getting up early, to make it for Alanna. When he went down to the kitchen after taking a shower, Mandy was just taking the cake out of the oven. She turned around and saw him.
"Morning." She said.
"Morning." "It smells good in here.
"I have to go get Alanna's tricycle."
"She's going to love it."
I know." "I'll be back in about a half hour."
"Ok."
I love you. He signed
I love you too. They kissed
Later that afternoon Randy came home with Alanna.
"Hi Mimi." Alanna said.
"Hi Alanna." Mandy said. "Happy birthday."
"Thank you."
"Do you want some cake Alanna?" Randy asked. "Mandy made you one."
"Yeah.
After the cake they went into the living room.
"Daddy and Mandy bought you a present Alanna." Randy said. "Want daddy to go get it?"
"Yeah." She said excitedly. Randy went to go get it. Alanna's face lit up when she saw the tricycle. "Tricycle, tricycle!" "Thank you daddy." She hugged him.
"You're welcome." "Thank Mandy."
"Thank you Mimi." She hugged her.
"You're welcome." Mandy said.
Alanna spent the rest of the day riding around.
It was Alanna's bedtime.
"It's time for bed Alanna." Randy said. "Want daddy to read you a story?"
"Mimi to?"
"Sure." Mandy said.
They'd just finished reading Alanna the story.
"Goodnight Alanna, daddy loves you." Randy said.
"Love you daddy, love you Mimi." Alanna said. Mandy smiled. It was the first time Alanna had ever told her she loved her.
"I love you too." Randy said.
"I love you." Mandy said.
Mandy and Randy went downstairs to clean up the kitchen. Mandy smiled.
"I can't believe she said she loved me." Mandy said.
"Of course she does." "You're so great with her." "Mandy is there a certain percentage of you having a baby that's born deaf."
"Yeah." "Sixty percent." "Why?"
"Just wondering."
"Randy don't do this, please don't do this. She thought. "I love you." "Don't give me a reason to break up with you."
