Maria Reincarnated Saga Episode 5: Shadow, I Shrunk the Mobians

At Station Square's park, Sonic, Eve, Jazz, and Shadow are with the rest of the Freedom Fighters, Team Dark, and Commander Tower. Some of the group are relaxing, playing, and the others simply like to have a break. As for the three hedgehogs, they're helping Maria gain better control with some of her abilities.

Maria asks, "So what are we going to do?"

"Well, I'm thinking now it will be a good time to teach you how to do a spin dash," Sonic says.

"A Spin dash," Maria says, confused.

Eve turns to Maria, "Remember when Sonic and I rolled up into balls and speed to knock Eggman's robots?"

"Uh huh," Maria replies.

"That's what a spin dash is," Eve answers.

"Oh," Maria replies.

Then asks, "So how do we do it?"

"Well, first off you need to curl yourself up like a ball, and get spiky," Sonic says.

Sonic stands on his feet and bends his knees and lowers his head. Maria does the same.

Then Sonic says, "Now, think about moving fast, roll with it, and…"

Then Sonic performs his spin dash. He then lands on his bottom when he's done.

Then says, "And when you're ready, just untuck and done!"

"Okay," Maria says.

Maria then begins to performa spin dash on her first try.

"You're doing great Maria," Eve happily says.

However, it's short lived when Maria ends up rolling away and hits a tree. Then falls on her back, feeling dizzy with stars spinning around her head.

"Maria!" Shadow exclaims.

Shadow, Eve, and Sonic hurry to Maria to see her feeling dizzy, with stars spinning over her head, and swirls on her eyes.

"Are you okay?"Eve asks.

"I'm okay…" Maria replies, feeling dizzy.

Maria then sits up and shakes her head to gain her focus. She's not dizzy, but now she has a red bump on her forehead.

"I guess one of the things we should teach you is how to stop," Sonic says.

"Yeah. I guess my spin dash is a bit of the mark," Maria says, rubbing her.

"But that bump on your forehead is right on target," Sonic replies.

Just then, Jazz brings the first aid kit, and Eve takes it.

Eve says,"Thank you Jazz."

"Chao Chao," Jazz replies.

Eve then opens the first aid kit and treat's Maria's bump on her head. It's a quick care and Eve places a bandage on Maria's forehead.

"There you go. All better," Eve says.

"Thank you Eve," Maria says.

She sadly sighs, "I'm never going to get the hang of this."

"You just need more practice, you can't expect to learn all that in a day. I have lots of practice working on my speed and the kind of moves to use it for. You'll get the hang of it, and then you can go on Freedom Fighter missions with us," Sonic says.

Shadow crosses his arms with a stern look, "Sonic, I don't think Maria is ready to take on Dr. Eggman or any other villain around Mobius for that matter. She's still new to her powers and she's a twelve year old girl."

"So what. I was younger than she is when I go on solo missions and others with Eve and Tails," Sonic says.

"You did?" Maria asks.

"Yep. He did… without permission," Eve replies.

"Come on sis, you sneak away from Knothole too and join me on my adventures," Sonic says.

Eve rolls her eyes, "Yeah. To either get you back or to keep you out of trouble. At the end we were able to stop Robotnik and his plans, and every time is the same thing, we ended up getting scolded by Uncle Chuck and Aunt Aleena."

"That's true. Aunt Aleena is scary when she gets mad," Sonic replies.

Maria giggles, "That sounds funny."

"It wasn't that funny," Sonic says.

Commander Tower walks over and says, "Sorry to interrupt you, but we need to head to the lab to visit Professor Pell."

"Professor Pell? Who's he?" Sonic asks.

"He's a scientist who worked for G.U.N and an old friend of mine. He created some machines that need to be tested," Commander Tower says.

"What's he like?" Eve asks.

"He's a good man, but sometimes his inventions can cause a few malfunctions. Most of his inventions work, but there are a few bad apples in his bunch," Commander Tower says.

"I like to see something like that," Tails says.

"Me too. Let's go," Amy happily says.

With that the group begins to head off to the lab to see Professor Pell's inventions. Unknown to them, Dr. Eggman and Snively have been spying on them from the bushes and using a device to listen in on their conversation. They decide to use this to their advantage, and knowing them, they'll try to take the Professor's inventions.

A little time later, Sonic and the gang and Commander Tower are at the lab. They are amazed to see so many different inventions. There are some that are taller than them, some that looks like remotes or conceals, and others that you can ride in.

"Wow! There are so many machines," Cream happily says.

"Chao Chao," Cheese replies.

"This guy has built as many inventions as you do, Tails," Sonic says.

"Yeah. I wonder if me and Professor Pell can share each other's notes," Tails replies.

Maria looks at a machine that looks like a race car and Shadow is standing next to her.

"That looks like fun. Do you think we can ride it?" Maria asks.

"I rather not take chances of you getting on it," Shadow says.

At another side of the room, Commander Tower, Molly, and Leon are with Professor Pell. He has tan skin with black hair, wears glasses, and wears a lab coat with a blue shirt and black pants and shoes. He is holding a remote that looks like one for a television and has antennas.

Professor Pell says, "So you see Commander, with my new Minimizer, we can shrink anything for easy transport. We can also use this to shrink crooks and thieves to any size you want so they'll be easy to catch."

"That does sound interesting, but aren't you worried that it might be used in the wrong hands," Leon says.

"I have to agree with Leon. your invention will be useful, but if someone discovers the machine, they'll try to steal it and use it for their own ambitions," Commander Tower says.

"Not to worry. I'm working on a solution for it. I plan to put a program that makes sure the only ones who get to use it are the owner," Professor Pell says.

"It does seem possible, but I have to worry who might want the invention to use it for their own gain," Molly says.

"Like who?" Amy asks, turning to Molly.

Suddenly, an explosion occurs and destroys part of the wall. Everyone quickly turns their heads to see Dr. Eggman is riding on his Eggmobile and Snively is with them.

"Someone like me of course, my dear," Eggman says.

The Freedom Fighters and Team Dark exclaim, "Eggman!"

"That's right. I heard everything and decided that I will get those Minimizer to shrink you all down to size," Eggman says.

Then demands to Snively, "Activate the Claw."

"Yes sir," Snively says, and presses the button.

With that, a robotic claw attached to a robotic arm comes out of a compartment of the
Eggmobile and begins to grab hold of the remote. However, Professor Pell still has a hold on it.

"No you don't Eggman," Sonic says.

Sonic, Eve, Tails, and Jazz hurry to Eggman. Maria decides to follow Eve to see if there's anything she can do to help. The Professor continues to hold on to the device to make sure it doesn't fall into evil hands. Suddenly, the claw then ends up pressing a red button and the remote begins to fire yellow beams all over the place. Everyone quickly ducks their head so the machine doesn't hit them. One of the beams of light hits Dr. Eggman and Snively. Soon, they begin to shrink. Then another one hits Sonic, Tails, Eve, Jazz, and Maria as they hurry to help, and they begin to shrink as well.

Sonic asks, "What's happening?"

"I think we're getting smaller," Eve panics.

"Chao!" Jazz screams.

The beams begin to hit at the walls and other places. Soon, it ends up hitting a large and powerful fan that automatically turns on. Soon, all those who are shrunk are blown away in seconds. The group scream as they are being blown away by the wind. When they fly outside, a strong wind current carries them far from the area.

At an unknown location, Sonic, Eve, and the others are unconscious with their backs on something soft. Soon, Maria opens her eyes to see some kind of light shining down on them. She soon begins to lift her head up. Eve, Jazz, Sonic, and Tails follow after her.

Sonic rubs his head, "Man, what did we get hit with?"

"I don't know, and it seems we're able to land on something soft," Eve says.

Jazz yawns, "Chao."

"Where are we?" Maria asks, looking around.

Tails also feels something soft and… fluffy, "And what are we sitting on?"

Eve turns around and yelps in surprise, causing everyone to turn their heads in surprise. They soon see a big, tall, long, fluffy, pink… bear.

Eve surprisingly says, "It's a bear! A giant teddy bear!"

"It's so cute," Maria says.

"And it's really big. I wonder if we're at that toy store across the street," Sonic says.

Tails looks ahead and becomes shocked, "That's exactly where we are, but it's not a good view we like to be in."

The others turn to Tails direction and gasp in shock. They see draws that are jumbo size along with the toys that are huge. What really shocked them is to see humans and Mobians walking around and they're giants.

"Oh my! Everything is huge!" Eve exclaims.

"Chao Chao!" Jazz panics.

"Then that means…" Sonic says, looking pale.

Then screams, "We've been shrunk!"

Back at the lab, the fan is still on and the wind continues to blow from it. Thinking fast, Leon quickly reaches the large fan and turns it off. The fan has stopped, but the lab is a massive mess.

Knuckles groans, "Man, that was unexpected."

"No kidding. Eggman has turned this lab into a mess," Amy says.

"And Molly was right that someone like Eggman would try to take the device," Cream says.

"Chao Chao," Cheese replies.

"Why can't that guy learn to stop causing trouble for all of us," Molly sternly replies with her hands on her hips.

Rouge looks around, "Hey, where did Dr. Egman and his shrimpy nephew go?"

"You're right. He and Snively were here a few minutes ago," Leon says.

"They must have got hit by the ray of my Minimizer and shrunk. Then when the fan turned on, it blew them away," Professor Pell says.

"If you ask me, it seems like karma on Eggman and Snively's end, for all the trouble they caused," Knuckles says.

Molly looks around and notices, "Um guys, where did Sonic go?"

The others soon look around to notice some of their friends are missing.

"You're right. Eve and Jazz are not here either," Rouge says.

"Tails isn't here either," Cream is worried.

"And Maria is gone as well," Commander Tower notices.

Knuckles turns to the Professor, "Hey Professor, can you tell us what happened?"

"Well, since they're not in the lab after Dr. Eggman's attempt to steal my invention and they disappeared around the time Dr. Eggman did… I conclude that your friends must have got shrunk as well and were blown away by my giant fan," Professor Pell says.

Shadow grabs the professor by his collar and pulls him up to his face in rage, "Are you saying that my sister and my friend have been shrunk by your shrinking device?!"

"Y-yes. It seems so. Luckily, I've built a Gigantizer that will reverse the effect and I'm glad that Eggman hasn't taken it," Professor Pell says, holding his device.

Then says, "One hit from this device should do the trick."

Shadow lets go of the professor and takes the device.

Shadow tries to stay calm, but sternly says, "You better hope this device works."

"Don't worry, this Gigantizer is a great success," Professor Pell says.

"Well what are we waiting for. We need to find them before Dr. Eggman and Snively do," Amy says.

"Id they're in the same place," Knuckles says.

"But how are we going to find them? They're very tiny," Cream asks, worried.

"Well we gotta start somewhere. They couldn't have gotten far," Molly says.

"Then let's head out and find them. Meanwhile, some of us need to help the professor fix his lab," Amy says.

Everyone nods their heads in reply.

Back in the giant toy store, from their point of view. The group of friends see that they're in a huge predicament. (No pun intended.) They need to find a way to find their friends so they can get back to normal. Tails helps Sonic fly down from the box and lands on the ground. Eve then uses her Chaos Energy to do the same for maria. Jazz simply flies down to the ground.

"Come on guys, we have to get to the lab and see if Professor Pell can bring us back to life size," Sonic says.

"Yes, but how are we going to get there. We're really tiny," Eve says.

"Yeah. And everything around us is so big. Someone could crush us if we're not careful," Tails says.

"I'm sure that Shadow and the others could find us, and help us get back to normal," Maria says.

"True, but we'll still be small. I don't think Shadow will like it," Eve says.

Sonic rolls his eyes, "When it comes to you two, he's not going to be happy about it and will go crazy to find us."

"Not before I find you little bugs," An angry voice says.

The group quickly turn around to see Dr. Eggman and Snively are behind them and riding on the Eggmobile.

Snively says, "That didn't take long for us to find you meddling hedgehogs, and your friends too."

"Chao Chao! Chao Chao Chao!" Jazz angrily says.

"Yeah. Haven't you caused us enough trouble!" Eve angrily says.

"I haven't begun to give you trouble. Now that you are all as small as crumbles, you'll be crumbled by the time I get through with you," Eggman says.

Maria tries to be brave and says, "Go away Eggman, haven't you caused enough trouble."

"On the contrary, Maria, I'm going to give you little runts more trouble than you think," Eggman says.

Then turns to Snively, "Snively, activate the Robo-Egg."

"Yes sir," Snively says, and presses the button.

Suddenly, the Eggmobile begins to transform into a robot with both of them inside. It's robot changed to a robot that is around two to three inches, given their current size. It also has boxing gloves for arms, and missile launches on its shoulders.

Eggman launches, "Now you little pipsqueaks are going to be blasted to atoms!"

"I'm going to be listening to small puns this whole time, aren't it?" Eve sarcastically questions.

"No kidding," Sonic replies with a straight look.

"Never mind that, get ready to be obliterated!" Eggman angrily says, and fires one of the missiles.

Tails screams, "RUN!"

The group then speeds off before the missile hits the ground.

Eggman angrily shouts, "Get back here!"

The group scream as they run away from Eggman and his giant machine. They quickly turn to the corner and Eggman's robot does the same. Suddenly, the robot comes to a stop to see that Sonic, Eve, and the others aren't there. The only thing that is there, is a large shelf full of stuffed animals.

Eggman looks around, "Where they go?!"

"They must be here somewhere," Snively replies.

Then suggests, "Perhaps they went down to a different aisle."

"Then let's go find them. Just wait 'till I find those two meddling hedgehogs and their friends. They're no match with these new weapons on my latest robot," Eggman says.

Then has the robot walk away from the scene. Unknown to Eggman and Snively, the five Mobians are actually in the pile of toys and pretend to be stuffed toys themselves so they won't notice.

Sonic snickers, "Those two couldn't hit the side of a swimming pool… if they were standing on the diving board."

"And I thought their robots were a couple of dumbots, but those two didn't even notice us," Eve says.

Maria notices a small orange color fox with peach mussel, stomach, and gloves, and wearing shoes.

Maria giggles, "Look Tails, that toy fox looks just like you."

Tails turns his head to see the toy fox himself.

"That supposed to be me?" Tails says, confused.

"I think it's adorable, just like you Tails," Eve says, giving Tails a hug.

"Thanks Eve," Tails says, blushes.

"Forget that. We're in the clear. Let's go," Sonic says.

"Yeah. Let's find the lab before those two find us," Eve says.

"Chao," Jazz agrees.

With that, the group zips off before Eggman can make a turn back.

Outside of the store, the group are trying to find their missing friends. So far, they have no clue where they are, or where to look.

"This is pointless. We're never going to find them at this rate," Knuckles says, annoyed.

"But we gotta find them. If Eggman finds them, and what's worse, what if something happens to them because of their small size," Amy says, worries.

"We can't give up now. We need to find them before something happens," Molly says, concerned.

"But what else can we do? We have no way to track them, or even a way to talk to them. They could be anywhere for miles because of their size. And they could end up somewhere far," Leon says.

Shadow says, "Well I refuse to give up so easily. Maria and Eve are somewhere in their small size and that's dangerous for them. I'm going to continue looking, but if you guys like to quit, let me know."

Then walks off to continue looking.

"I never seen Shadow like this," Cream says, worried.

Amy sighs, "It's because Maria, who is his best friend, and Eve, who is his sister, are shrunk down to size and he is very determined to find them no matter what."

"You're right. And I refuse to give up either," Rouge says.

Knuckles says, "Then what can we do? We can't track them, call them, or pick up any of their movements."

"Maybe we can't…" Rouge says thinking of an idea.

She then smirks and points to Shadow, "But Shadow can."

Shadow looks at Rouge with a confused look. Everyone else becomes confused as well.

"Uh, I don't get it. How could Shadow find them when the rest of us couldn't?" Amy asks.

"Well, you can actually think Black Doom for that one, considering that Shadow, Eve, and Maria have his D.N.A, meaning they have the same power. And I remember Shadow mentioning something about a Mind Link or whatever it is," Rouge says.

Shadow begins to understand the idea and smirks, "I see now. I might be able to figure out where Eve and Maria are."

"I'm confused. How can Shadow find them?" Leon says.

Shadow says, "Well. Eve and I shared a loose connection with the Black Arms. They are somehow able to contact other Black Arms using telepathy, especially their leader to send information to his troops. And since Maria now obtained Black Doom's blood because of my and Eve's D.N.A and have the exact same powers, she will have a loose connection as well. I might be able to use it to sense where they are, have my mind connect with them to pick up their location."

"That's actually a good idea," Knuckles says.

Then mutters, "Makes me wonder why we haven't thought of it sooner."

"Forget that, it might be our only chance to find them," Amy says.

Cream worriedly says, "Please hurry, Shadow."

"Chao Chao," Cheese replies.

"Alright, just need to give some time to pick up on their location, or at least link my thoughts with theirs," Shadow says.

Shadow then places his hands on his head and begins to concentrate on his mind linked with the Black Arm blood within him.

Back in the toy store, Sonic, Eve, Tails, Maria, and Jazz continue to hurry through the store so they can find their way out to find the others. Suddenly, they stop to see Dr. Eggman with his robot. What's more they seem to be accompanied by toy robots that act like his minions.

"What is all this?" Eve asks, shocked.

Eggman laughs and says, "Like my new toys. I used my scientific know-how to reprogram the robots into being part of my Eggman army."

"Yes. These robots's weapons have been equipped with missiles and nets, enough to capture you meddling Freedom Fighters," Snively says.

"Now then… Egg Fleet! GET THEM!" Eggman commands.

"Let's scream!" Sonic panics.

Then the group speeds off as fast as they can. Dr. Eggman and his Egg Fleets begin to chase after them. They run down the aisle as fast as they can. They continue to run down different aisle of the store. Eggman's fleet including Eggman himself begin to fire missiles and nets at them, hoping to blow them up or capture them.

Sonic shouts, "Split up! They can't catch us all! I'll meet you at the back of the store!"

"Right. Tails and Sonic will go one way. Maria, Jazz, and I will go through another," Eve says.

With that, Eve, Maria, and Jazz head off in one direction while Sonic and Tails take the other. Eggman and some of his Egg Fleets head off in one direction while the rest take the other direction.

Eve, Maria, and Jazz continue to speed the fast as they can to get away from Eggman's robots.

"I don't know we can lose them," Maria worriedly says.

"Well we need to do something, but not without getting crushed," Eve worriedly says.

Suddenly, Eve hears Shadow's voice in her head, "Eve? Eve? Do you read me?"

"Shadow? Why do I hear him in my…" Eve says, confused.

Eve realizes, "The mindlink."

Eve then concentrates using the mind link.

"Shadow? Shadow is that you? I'm in the Toy Store. Eggman and Snively found us and they're chasing us with toy robots from the store across the street from the lab. We're going to be at the back of the store. Hurry! Eggman and his robots are after us!" Eve thinks.

Eve grabs Maria's hand and speeds off with the robots hot on their trail.

Back outside the store, Shadow shakes his head a little after the mind link makes the connection.

"Well, do you know where?" Shadow asks.

"Yes. They're in the story store. Eggman and Snively are after them," Shadow says.

"Oh no!" Cream worriedly says.

"Chao Chao," Cheese panics.

Back in the store, the group of friends are able to meet together.

"Sonic! Tails!" Eve worriedly says.

"Eve? Maria? Where did you come from?" Tails asks.

"Less talking, more running," Sonic panics.

The group continues to run away as fast as they can. Now that Eggman and his robots are together, they end up with the advantage.

Eggman shouts, "FIRE!"

Eggman's robotic toys fire their missiles at the ground and send them flying to the back of the store Sonic, Tails, Eve, and Jazz hit the door and fall to the ground. Maria however is able to land on the ground close to the door. Maria is able to stand up and turns her head to become shocked to see her friends are close to passing out. The four struggle to get up, but are having trouble.

Eggman laughs and says, "There's no place to run, Freedom Fighters."

Then tells her robots, "Fire those missiles on my mark."

The robots begin to aim their missiles at the group.

Maria stands in front of her friends and nervously says, "You… you leave my friends alone you… you big meanie."

"Well well, little Maria thinks she can actually beat me and my Egg-bots. You're out of your league cupcake. I got the advantage so you can do nothing," Eggman mocks.

Maria shakes and says, "You-you're so mean! Why do you want to take over Mobius and hurt my friends."

"That's for me to know and for you to find out, and I'm not telling," Eggman says.

Snively says, "Sir, we should finish them off while we still have the chance."

"You're right, Snively. We got the chance so let's finish it," Eggman says.

Then commands, "Alright Egg Fleet, aim at those meddling Freedom Fighters."

The robots then aim their missiles at the Freedom Fighters and are ready to fire.

"Ready… and fire!" Eggman commands.

With that, the Egg Fleets fire their missiles and directly towards the Freedom Fighters and Maria. Maria wants to protect her friends so much that she ends up exposing Chaos Energy around her body.

Maria closes her eyes and screams, "Chaos Spear!"

Maria then fires multiple spears of Chaos Energy at the missiles. The Chaos Spears destroy the Missiles and soon destroy the Egg Fleets. When Sonic, Eve, and Tails see it, they are shocked to see Maria performing a powerful move, and all the Egg Fleets are destroyed.

Eggman is shocked as well, "What?!"

Maria opens her eyes and gasps in surprise to see most of the robots are blasted to pieces, except for the robot Eggman and Snively are in.

"Uh sir, I think that young hedgehog girl is stronger than we thought," Snively replies, worried.

"I can see that. No little blonde hedgehog is going to make me look like a fool," Eggman says.

Maria knows that she needs to continue with the fire. She then speeds to the robot and spin dashes the robot to make a hole in the middle of the chest. Maria then bounces off a large shelf and about to hit the robot from behind. Suddenly, a beam of light hits Maria, the robot with Eggman and Snively, Sonic, Eve, Tails, and Jazz. Sonic and his group dodge out of the way as Maria slams into the back of the robot and sends them flying out the door.

Eggman screams, "I'll get you for this!"

Back to normal, Sonic closes the door and says, "Why does he always say that?"

"No kidding," Eve says.

Soon, the group notices they're back to normal size. Even Maria who is laying on her back feeling dizzy is also back to normal. She sits up and rubs her head.

Eve kneels to Maria, "Are you okay?"

"I'm okay," Maria says.

"Wow Maria, you totally saved our necks," Sonic says.

"He's right. You did a great job," Tails says.

"Thanks," Maria says with a smile.

Suddenly, a girl's voice screams, "Sonic!"

Sonic turns his head and Amy hugs him tight, "Are you alright Sonic? Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," Sonic says.

"I think we're okay. I never want to be shrunk again," Eve says.

Shadow hurries to Eve and Maria, "Are you okay?"

"We're fine. Maria actually saved us," Eve says.

Confused, Shadow says, "Maria?"

"Um yes. I was able to perform Chaos Spear and use Spin Dash at Eggman and his machine. I am finally able to um, fight," Maria says, showing a smile.

Shadow is shocked and surprised that she is able to take on Eggman and his robots.

He simply smiles and pats her on the head, "You did a good job, Maria. You will need to practice more to perfect your powers."

"Yes. I want to work hard so I can help stop Eggman and his um, schemes," Maria says.

Eve happily says, "That's what I like to hear."

"Yeah. We know that she can defend herself if we give her a little more time," Sonic says.

Sometime later, they have dinner at a restaurant. After a long day they have, it's good to have a break. Maria also ends up buying the doll that looks like Tails. However, what they find out, Eggman has been fined with all the toys he used and broke from his attack on the gang.
