One-Shot 4: Submission due to Love

Ash and Goh found a poster up on a wall. It had a Hitmonchan and a Hitmonlee.

P-1 POKÉMON GRAND PRIX

Ash became excited to see a poster like this. "The P-1 Pokémon Grand Prix's happening over near Fuchsia City like the last time," Ash, with Pikachu on his shoulder, explained. "And Primeape's still the champion." Goh, with Sobble on his shoulder, seemed curious.

"What is the P-1 Pokémon Grand Prix?" he asked.

"It's a tournament where only Fighting-Type Pokémon compete… and it looks like it'll be a special five-day event marking its 20th annual event." Goh and Sobble seemed in awe for the tournament… until they read the rules.

"It says that you need three Fighting-Type Pokémon to compete… and last I checked, you have Lucario and Farfetch'd." Ash snickered to the claim.

"Don't you have three Fighting-Type Pokémon of your own? Hitmonchan, Mankey and Heracross?"

"Ye- Yeah, but I'd rather sit it out and watch you in that smorgasbord. Do you… have any more Fighting-Type Pokémon?"

"I do, back at Professor Oak's ranch… but I think I know which one to call up." Goh and Sobble pondered to Ash's claim as Ash called Oak up. A few days later, people began to gather for the five-day event. Ash released Lucario, Farfetch'd and Scraggy.

"That's your other Fighting-Type Pokémon?"

"Sure is. Scraggy may be a little on the short side but he's dependent in tough situations." Curious, Goh brought the Rotom Phone out to scan Ash's other competitor.

"SCRAGGY, THE SHEDDING POKÉMON," it registered. "A FIGHTING AND DARK-TYPE. SCRAGGY IS PROBLEMATIC ONCE IT EYES ITS TARGET, ESPECIALLY THE HEADBUTTS IT PRODUCES." Goh seemed a bit hesitant about the choice.

"And this is who you got from Professor Oak?" he asked.

"No, Professor Juniper from Unova," Ash corrected. Goh pondered about the choice.

"Hmm… Thinking back to Professor Kukui, I think Incineroar would be more appropriate." The choice made Ash shake his head.

"Let me play a little bit." He brought out his Rotom Phone.

"INCINEROAR, THE WRESTLER POKÉMON," it rang up. "A FIRE AND DARK-TYPE." Ash paused the audio while Goh realized the choice would not be accepted with the rules of the P-1.

"Oh…" he sighed. "Never mind…" That's when Sobble shrieked at someone behind them. Goh seemed startled. "Sobble?" Looking behind Goh, Ash spotted Bea approaching.

"Looks like I found you, partner," she started. The boys faced Bea as she arrived.

"Bea?" wondered Ash. "And… partner?"

"Indeed," she assured. "Didn't you see the poster?" That's when Goh snapped his fingers.

"I was wondering about the extra days with the first couple of days having Pokémon Tag Battles," he recalled. Ash started to understand the event.

"So, it's two-on-two with four trainers on opposite sides?" he guessed. "No wonder I didn't understand it."

"Just be glad your friend's helpful," Bea nagged. Ash and Goh sighed.

"By the way, did you sign up for it?" wondered Goh.

"I just got here and was gonna register," she said. "But I wanted to ask if you'd be my partner." Ash grinned, willing to accept.

"Of course!" he allowed. They entered to which Bea registered herself. Goh forgone the offer. They soon entered the locker room where other trainers waited, including trainers Ash met like Chuck, Korrina, Chigusa and Anthony to name a few. In the stands, Goh met Anthony's daughter, Rebecca. That's when trainers entered the ring.

"Ladies and gentlemen, these are the Pokémon Trainers for the P-1 Pokémon Grand Prix!" the announcer exclaimed. "These Pokémon Trainers will compete in the individual and tag team tournaments. Speaking of, let's get the brackets for the Tag Team Tournament!" Everyone turned to the monitors over the giant ring. Ash and Bea saw the match-ups and prepared themselves. Korrina, Chuck and Anthony had different partners. A little while later, Ash was preparing for his battle with two other trainers. He noticed someone wasn't there while Pikachu and Scraggy prepared with some hand-to-hand training.

"Any of you seen Bea?" he asked.

("No, Papa!") shook Scraggy.

("Did you check outside?") guessed Pikachu. A point outside gave Ash a hint.

"I'll check," he said as he raced outside. He found Bea who seemed to have anticipated his arrival. "Bea? Getting your last minute stretches before our battle?" Bea reached Ash and ripped his cap off. This startled Ash. "What-" Before he could complain, Bea clasped his head and kissed his lips. Pikachu and Scraggy arrived outside where they viewed Ash and Bea in their intimate moment. After a minute, Bea broke from a flummoxed and blushed Ash.

"I have not been able to get you out of my mind," she admitted.

"Really?" he gulped. Goh and Sobble found the two close when they stepped outside.

"I want to be honest… I see you as the Pokémon Trainer that can accomplish anything with a smile… and I wanted to learn teamwork from and with you. Seeing you at Chuck's Gym in Cianwood City and you with a smile despite facing me for the second time and battling to a draw. I guess…" Her sigh made it sound as if she's flustered over her confession. "I may be with you when you do reach your goal… learn about this happiness that never leaves you." Ash smiled to Bea's wish.

"I'm… touched…" he stuttered.

"So am I, but I'm still shocked!" announced Goh. Ash and Bea turned to Goh and the Pokémon.

"I had to remove a problem from my chest since seeing Riolu able to be Grapploct's equal," Bea briefed with a smile. "Somehow, liking Ash isn't enough with how I feel." Ash smiled while Goh itched his head.

"So, you guys aren't concerned about your battle up next?" he brought up. The two became aware of the time. Ash looked to his phone. There was another battle occurring before their scheduled match.

"Let's head back and get ready," he alerted. "Pikachu, you can stay with Goh and Sobble."

("Sounds good!") agreed Pikachu. They headed into the arena before their match. After a day and a half, the tag team battles were nearing an end. There was one more match. Team Rocket was in disguise with Jessie in a karate robe and James looking like Little Mac with his hair standing.

"This is for the Tag Team Championship!" the announcer bellowed. Ash had Scraggy and Bea had Grapploct. Jessie had a Poliwrath and James had a Crabrawler, both with the use of the Rocket Prize Master. "Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town and Bea, Stow-on-Side's Pokémon Gym Leader in Galar will face Jestella and Jammer, both from Snowpoint City in Sinnoh!" The official prepared for the brawl to occur.

"Begin!" he roared.

"Alright, Poliwrath!" voiced Jessie. "Pound away!" Poliwrath raced after Scraggy and James was ready for the follow-up.

"Crabrawler, Dizzy Punch!" he commanded. Crabrawler spun its pincer arm like a windmill before racing after Grapploct. Scraggy watched Poliwrath ready to smack him.

"Scraggy, use Headbutt!" ordered Ash. Scraggy leaped up and nailed a headbutt into the swirl. Poliwrath staggered before regrouping.

"Grapploct, Close Combat!" shouted Bea. Grapploct dodged Crabrawler's Dizzy Punch before smacking the Boxing Pokémon around.

"Now, Brutal Swing!" yelled James. Crabrawler caught one of Grapploct's tentacle arms mid-pounding and flung Grapploct around. Exposed, Ash took advantage.

"Scraggy, Focus Blast on Crabrawler!" he called out. Scraggy prepared a ball of energy. "Don't throw it yet! Get in close!" The Shedding Pokémon raced after Crabrawler to save Grapploct but the Tadpole Pokémon jumped in to intercept.

"Poliwrath, use Bubble Beam!" snapped Jessie. Poliwrath took a deep breath as Crabrawler swung Grapploct down… on top of Poliwrath. It ruined the Bubble Beam attack and Scraggy leaped over both downed Pokémon. Team Rocket gawked to the mishap.

"Do it, Scraggy!" encouraged Ash. Able to see Crabrawler, Scraggy grinned and dunked Focus Blast onto James' Pokémon who flew up.

"Don't give up!" voiced James. "Use Payback!" Crabrawler shook off the strike and rushed back in at Scraggy at full force.

"Octolock!" cried out Bea. Grapploct snapped up and caught Crabrawler midflight.

"Oh no!" gawked James.

"Poliwrath, use Psychic!" ordered Jessie. Poliwrath's eyes were glowing and froze Grapploct in place, freeing Crabrawler. Distracted, Ash flashed a smile.

"High Jump Kick!" he pointed. Kicking off a foot on the ring mat, Scraggy blasted Poliwrath between the eyes, breaking the Psychic attack. The High Jump Kick continued as Grapploct and Crabrawler fell to Scraggy. It connected again, this time in Crabrawler's chest. Crabrawler and Poliwrath flew away to opposing turnbuckles. Both fell.

"Poliwrath!" cried Jessie.

"Crabrawler!" shrieked James. The referee rose the hand to Ash and Bea's corner.

"Poliwrath and Crabrawler are unable to continue!" he judged. "Grapploct and Scraggy win! The Tag Team Champions are Ash and Bea!" The crowd, which included Goh, Pikachu and Sobble, roared loudly to the results and the battle. Ash and Bea ran into the ring to congratulate Scraggy and Grapploct.

"How about that, Scraggy!?" cheered Ash. "You're a champion!" Scraggy cheered loudly and jumped to hug Ash while confetti rained on top of them.

"I could not expect anything less from you, Grapploct," Bea praised. Grapploct laughed. Without warning…

"Now, your Pokémon will be ours!" screamed Meowth. He jumped up with a bazooka as Jessie and James undid their disguises, shocking everyone who then booed and Goh and Pikachu rushing to the ring. Meowth fired the bazooka which a net ejected from it. Ash reacted fast with another Pokéball.

"Farfetch'd, Night Slash!" he summoned. Farfetch'd emerged before slashing the net into pieces. Standing up, Ash, Bea and the Pokémon faced Team Rocket.

"You guys have no fighting chance," Bea sternly scorned.

"Says some twerpette who prefers to get grabby!" scowled Jessie. However, a group of Machamp grabbed them first. A slew of Officer Jennies emerged and cuffed the group.

"Team Rocket, you're under arrest!" the tallest Jenny proclaimed. "And before you say anything, you have a rap sheet the length of the bridge to Sunnytown… and I wish I was kidding about it." Despite being cuffed, Jessie refused to go willingly.

"You won't get me behind bars!" she yelled. One other Machamp grabbed rope and helped the other Machamp hogtie Jessie. Vainly, Jessie proceeded to struggle more as Machamp wrapped the tied-up Rocket around his waist and walked off, wearing a human fanny pack. At the reward ceremony, Ash and Bea stood with Scraggy and Grapploct.

"Ladies and gentlemen," the announcer started. Two women in midriffs, shorts and sneakers sneaked behind Ash and Bea with gold belts. "Let's present the champions of the Tag Team Tournament their prize!" The women wrapped the belts around Ash and Bea's waists. Ash and Bea heard the crowd's cheers. Then, they gazed to each other and their hands locked to each other. Finally, in front of the crowd, they kissed. This riled the crowd even more, loud praises for the love they brought to the fight. That night, Ash, Goh, Bea and the Pokémon had cake.

"Double chocolate chip, can't go wrong with that!" cheered Bea.

"That's for sure!" agreed Ash.

"You know, tomorrow... you'll be in the one-on-one battles," Goh reminded. "And there's a chance you'll be fighting each other. Aren't you worried?" Ash scoffed to the warning.

"It's a competition and I know we're battling for the thrill," he dismissed. Grapploct nodded, knowing Ash would be an opponent not to take lightly. "Besides, there's gonna be two trainers who'll have a bye since Team Rocket had been removed from P-1."

"And those two trainers are us," Bea informed. Everyone laughed to the news. As night fell, Ash and Bea snuggled with each other. The Pokémon gathered around Grapploct, including Sobble. In her sleep, Bea wrapped her legs around Ash's hips, her arms around his shoulders. "I cannot let you go… I cannot… love another…" Her whispers were so close to Ash's face, she followed it up with kissing his lips. She's dreaming and would be fine. After all, she has a Submission hold on the Pokémon Trainer from Pallet and won't let it go.
