Mandy and John continued growing closer for the rest of summer. It was now September. They were dying to each other. They were going to get their chance tomorrow night. They were both in New York City. Mandy for the sign language convention and John making an appearance on a show. They planned on going out to dinner. Jennifer was hanging out in Mandy's room.
When are you and John making things official? Jennifer signed.
I don't even know if there's anything to make official. Mandy signed.
Jennifer rolled her eyes. Come on Mandy, you know John is your boyfriend. You've been talking for three months.
We've never even kissed or had sex. We haven't even seen each other since June.
You've talked and grown close. You've told me you have feelings for him.
I do.
I mean you guys are going on a date tomorrow night.
It's not a date.
Yeah right. She signed not believing it.
The next night Mandy was waiting for John to pick her up. She was very nervous. She had butterflies in her stomach. She was holding her phone. It vibrated. She got a text that read.
I'm here. – John
She smiled and took a deep breath. She opened the door and stepped outside. They smiled at each other.
"Hi." He said.
"Hi."
You look beautiful. He signed.
Thank you. She signed.
They were at the restaurant eating and talking.
"I'm glad we finally got to do this." John said.
"Me to." "I was really nervous about it."
"Why?"
"Well I haven't been out on a, is this a date?"
"Yes."
"I haven't been out on a date in over a year and a half."
"It's been awhile for me to."
"Since this is officially a date, even though I know it won't be a problem, I should tell you just to confirm, I don't want kids."
"I know." "As you know, neither do I." "I had a vasectomy."
"I'm glad we're on the same page about it."
"How's the convention going?"
"Good."
"That's how you met your ex-husband right?"
"Yeah."
"What was his name again?"
"Blaine."
"He was deaf to right?"
"Yeah." "My parents loved him." "As soon as we got married they kept badgering us about kids." "It was so annoying." "Little did I know that was the least of mine and Blaine's problems." "I told you he cheated on me but what I didn't tell you was he did it twice." "I was the moron who stayed with him after the first time."
"You're not a moron." "You just wanted things to work." "Do you have any plans on the seventeenth of October?"
What day of the week is it?"
"Saturday."
"No." "I have no plans."
"I have a charity event to go to in San Francisco." "Do you want to be my date?"
"Yes."
John walked Mandy back to her room.
"That was fun." She said.
"I had a great time."
"Me to. They hugged. Pulling back from the hug they looked at each other. He kissed her. She kissed him back. They both knew it wasn't all they wanted. She broke the kiss. "You have to go before and I invited you in and we…
Have sex? He signed smiling.
Yes. She signed smiling back.
"Have you thought about us having sex?"
"Yes, a lot."
"I'm glad I'm not the only one."
"I want to." "You don't know how much I want to."
"Yes I do." "As much as I want to."
"As much as I want to, it would be-
Amazing, incredible, great? He signed.
"All of those things, yes." "I was going to say a turning point for us." "A more emotional connection then already have."
"I want that connection with you."
"I do to."
"But?
"But, if we have sex it makes things more real, more official."
"Would that be so bad?"
"Are you ready to tell people about us?"
"Not quite yet."
"Neither am I.""So you should go."
"Yeah." "I guess I'll just have to keep fantasizing, about how much I want to touch your body, kiss you, hear to moan."
"Are you trying to turn me on?"
"Yeah."
"Goodnight."
"Goodnight. She went inside, went into the bathroom, stripped down, turned the water on cold and got in the shower.
