Enerjak Reborn Saga Episode 3: The Fallen Guardian

Flashback

Before Enerjak attack the city of New Mobotropolis. The echidnas who have been transported there are doing what they can to build a life in a city called Albion far from any civilization. They try to use the remains of the destroyed city to make a home for them. In the middle of the city, the folly organic Remington and Locke are there for important matters. Locke holds a device and a projection has finished the recording message.

Locke then places it in his pocket as he says, "Thank you for showing me this, Remington."

"You're welcome, Guardian. I hope it provided some answers," Remington says.

"It did indeed," Locke says.

Then asks, "Will you all be okay here?"

"I believe so. The refugees from both the Dark Legion and Echidnaopolis are beginning to band together. I think we can scrape out a living here," Remington says.

"You're a good man, Remington. You'll show them the way. Allow me to take care of the rest," Locke says.

Remington asks, "Is it true about what happened to Eve? Many of the Legionnaires feared about Eve's condition, especially how she is able to wipe out the weapons in the chamber."

"I'm afraid it is. Which is why we need to find a way to save Eve, but also my son from the monster Finitevus unleashed," Locke says.

Flashback Ends:

Seeing Enerjak that is revealed to be Knuckles is a shock, especially to Julie-Su and the Chaotix. Now he is standing before them, the group of friends are so stunned that they are unable to move.

Still Enerjak, Knuckles says, "My dear friends of New Mobotropolis! I come to you as Enerjak, a living god… to show you all how to live a better tomorrow! A tomorrow free of pain and suffering! A Tomorrow free of technology! A tomorrow built by my unmatched power!"

Seeing Knuckles talking in this state has the Freedom Fighters and Chaotix deeply concerned.

Sally says, "Knuckles, stop this! Your 'unmatched power' brought devastation to Angel Island!"

"I know your relationship with technology has been poor, but it can bring great things! You remember, it gave me a chance at life!" Nicole says.

Julie-Su steps forward and tears begin to fall from her face, "Knuckles, please… you saw what that power can do, and it brought us was pain and suffering. You told me that it caused you to suffer when you were a kid. You're not Enerjak. Please… stop this before it gets worse."

Julie-Su then hugs Knuckles and says, "Please Knuckles…"

Knuckles, who is Enerjak, is a bit surprised to see her hugging him. All he ends up doing is wraps his arms around her. Julie-Su becomes confused and looks at Knuckles as tears fall from her face.

"I'm sorry Julie-Su… but this is the only way to make things right," Knuckles says.

He then places his hand over Julie-Su's eyes and his hand closes a bit. When he removes it, Julie-Su's eyes are closed and her head falls back, and has fallen unconscious. That causes the group of friends to gasp in shock.

"Julie-Su!" Amy exclaims.

Then Sally asks, "What did you do to her?!"

Unknown to everyone, the Tornado is flying over them and Sonic is preparing to make his entrance.

Back on the ground floor, Knuckles then uses one hand to create a powerful Chaos Energy and levitates Julie-Su as she sleeps. Then places his helmet back on.

"Knuckles! What are you doing?!" Espio demands.

"I plan to show you I am right by example if I must. I will liberate my love from her cybernetic trappings," Knuckles says.

Sally screams, "Knuckles don't…"

"Then you will see that I…" Knuckles says, but then a blue spin dash smacks him from behind.

Then, then it jumps off and unrolls to reveal Sonic. Then he grabs Julie-Su as he says, "Whatever you were villainously doing about… forget it, Enerjak!"

Sonic then lands on the ground. Vector and Mighty hurry over to Sonic to check on Julie-Su.

"Is she alright?" Mighty asks.

Sonic looks at her, "I think so. She's just sleeping."

Then Sonic gives Julie-Su to Might and turns to Sally, "Sorry I'm late. Heard from Knuckles?

"N-yes, but…" Sally quickly says.

But Sonic interupts her, "Cool, any back-up coming in?"

"Yes, but…!" Sally answers.

"Cool. All that's left…" Sonic says.

He then begins to spin dash towards Enerjak, "Is to take care of Enerjoke!"

Enerjak then uses his armed Knuckles to stop the Spin Dash.

"Your speed was never enough to trump my raw power!" Enerjak says.

Suddenly, Shadow the Hedgehog appears through Chaos Control and punches Enerjak in the face. Soon, the two hedgehogs land on the ground close to each other.

Shadow says, "Then he will need my power as well. Shadow the Hedgehog Agent of G.U.N, reporting as requested."

"Nice enerance, Faker. All I got out of him was an 'erhn,'" Sonic remarks.

Shadow then glares at Sonic, "I would cut the sarcasm if I were you. Sally told me that Eve and her friends went to Angel Island, and they haven't heard from any of them."

"Yeah. I didn't like it either, but she feels that finding Knuckles is important," Sonic says.

Then says,"Now let's squish this energerm…"

Suddenly, Enerjak attacks Shadow with his Chaos Enerjak and sends him through the wall, literally.

Then Enerjak grabs Sonic with his power and pulls him to him.

Enerjak demands, "Are you quite finished?!"

"Actually… Jumping-jak. Ener-tube. Flap-jak. Ener-state. Ener-Jak-in-the-box. And come to think of it… 'Enerjak' sounds like some kind of sports drink… Now I'm finished," Sonic mocks.

Irritated, Enerjak uses his Chaos Energy to throw Sonic through the building and causes him to crash into the book shelf.

Shadow pushes the pile of books off of him, "The amount of Chaos Energy he commands… it's as if he were a living Chaos Emerald," Shadow says.

He then walks out and begins to remove his inhibitor rings, "Clear the area! I am removing and tapping fully into my Chaos Force!"

Once both of the rings are removed. He begins to emit a strong Chaos Force from his body.

He then calls out, "Chaos…"

"BLAST!" And Shadow spreads his Chaos Energy around the area.

Enerjak tries to protect himself from the Chaos Energy, as Shadow's Chaos Energy strikes at him and the buildings in the area. Sally, Nicole, and everyone quickly hide behind the trees and other places to be safe.

Sally says with frustration, "Darn it, Shadow! At this rate, they're going to tear the city apart!"

"I am diverting all the power I can to keeping things intact, Sally. But even if I fully shut down my body… I don't have enough power to raise the energy shield. If Dr. Eggman were to attack, we'd be defenseless," Nicole panics.

Speaking of Eggman, the mad scientist is spying on the battle of Enerjak and Shadow now, and has become very interested in it.

"Whoa-ho-ho-ho! This is getting too good. Shadow and this Enerajak are saving me a bit of trouble by causing the mess in the city for me. This Enerjak fellow is brimming with Chaos Energy." Eggman says.

On the screen, Snively takes off his goggles and says, "Yes. However, Enerjak is very strong and is full of Chaos Energy like you said. However, if Sonic and Eve along with his friends see us, they'll fight against us."

"So true, Snively. Enerjak will provide more than enough power for my next big project," Eggman says, eagerly.

Snively continues to work on a machine as he says, "Considering that our last big project mysteriously disappeared. The ingredients we need to revive Iblis for the Solaris Project."

"I still can't figure out what happened to it. Anyway, now we ended up with a better opportunity," Eggman says.

He then says, "I'm launching the Egg Fleet now, Snively. You should take any opportunity that comes by."

Snively removes the goggles and says, "Take your time, Uncle… the last modifications to the Egg Grapes are complete."

Snively is standing on the new and improved Egg Grapes and it looks strong enough to hold anything with powerful energy. In their case, they hope it will keep Enerjak still.

Meanwhile, Shadow and Enerjak continue to fight against each other. At the same time the Chaotix has Julie-Su placed next to a tree as Saffron and Maria watch other her, and the rest watch what is happening. Enerjak then throws an upper cut at Shadow and sends him crashing to the ground.

Sonic says, "Alright, 'Ultimate Light Shadow," We're all very impressed. Now how about we work together on this guy?"

N-No I will not be defeated! He might know where Eve is…" Shadow says,.

"Oh boy…" Sonic says, rolling his eyes.

Shadow then raises his hand and launches, "Chaos Spear!"

The Chaos Spear then strikes at Enerjak.

But Enerjak counters, "Thunder Arrow!"

Enerjak's attack then strikes at Shadow.

Sonic then spin dashes Enerjak on the back of the head, "Boom! Headshot!"

That causes his helmet to fall off his head, and Sonic lands on the ground

"Anymore silly attack names you guys want to…" Sonic says, turning his head.

But becomes shocked, "Whoa."

What Sonic sees is Knuckles who is revealed to be Enerjak before he arrives.

"When did you…? How did you…? Why are you…?" Sonic asks, shocked.

"As always, your 'smart mouth' only counts for so much," Knuckles, who is Enerjak says.

Shadow is able to stand up, but holds his arm to feel a strong pain.

Shadow says, "Don't lose resolve now, Sonic."

"I-I'm not. A threat's a threat. But…"

Just then, Sally steps forward, with the Freedom Fighters, Chaotix, and the citizens of the city.

Sally says, "You're not alone, Sonic. Freedom Fighters! Chaotix! Citizens of New Mobotropolis! We fight for our city and our freedom as one!"

Soon, everyone charges at Knuckles hoping to put a stop to this.

Suddenly, Knuckles' eyes begin to glow green as he shouts, "Enough!"

Before anyone can strike, the Chaos Energy stops them before they have the chance.

Knuckles then picks up his helmet and puts it back on his head, "I am profoundly disappointed by all of you. You've known me to be your friend, as a hero, and yet you turned on me."

He then walks as he looks at the group, "I thought my friends would accept my generous offer. I will set everything right. I was going to be gentle with you and this city. As my benefactor, Dr. Finitevus has shown me, this world must be purged with fire. I was going to spare you all. But now…"

Sonic then calls out, "Knuckles, listen to me! This isn't like you, man! You are not like this! You're a rough-and-tumble, punch first, and ask questions later kind of guy! Reshaping the world with a bunch of Chaos-Power Hocus-Pocus just isn't you!" Finitevus must have messed with your brain!"

"The world is undeniably corrupt. I have the power to change it. And soon, Eve will see to the ideal as well," Enerjak says.

"Wait… what was that about Eve?" Sonic asks, confused.

"Your sister who is also part of my family's bloodline was also bathed in the Master Emerald's energy. And soon, she will see what needs to be done. She will help purge the world in fire so that a new one can grow from its ashes," Enerjak says.

Not pleased, Shadow angrily says, "Eve would never want that! She wants to help save the world for others, but she would never want that peace if it means the world being destroyed! She promised Maria that she will protect it, but not like this!"

"We shall see once her transformation has been completed. And then, there will be nothing that can sway us," Enerjak says.

Suddenly, someone says, "I beg to differ!"

Everyone quickly looks up to see the Egg Fleet, soon Enerjak ends up losing a grip on everyone around him.

In one of the Egg Fleet ships, Eggman says from the speaker, "Good afternoon, Enerjak! This is Dr. Eggman Relax and leave everything to me."

Suddenly, beams of light begin to fire at Enerjak.

Then says, I've perfected this tactic to an art. My teleporting beams will wear away your futile and inevitable resistance… until you're finally set to my egg vineyard where my newly-refurbished egg grapes will drain you of every ounce of power!"

Enerjak tries to protect himself with a force field, but the beams of light phases right through it. And the beam hit him and disappeared. The group are shocked to see Knuckles has disappeared and been taken by Eggman.

Eggman says to the speaker, "Thank you, citizens of New Mobotropolis! Your effort as decoys made this sudden plan easier! Now hurry and rebuild. I want this place spic and span when I erase it from the map!"

He maniacally laughs and flies off on his planes.

"Great… what do we do now?" Vector asks.

"It's bad enough that Knuckles is Enerjak, but now he's been captured by Eggman," Mighty says.

Sonic then turns to Sally and asks, "Okay, Sally. What's the plan to rescue Knuckles?"

"I'm afraid I don't have one. And I'm not sure if we should as of now. With Knuckles in that state," Sally says.

"Care to run that by me again?" Sonic asks.

"It sounds terrible, I know. But rescuing him right now means unleashing Enerjak on the world again. We need to figure out how to revert Knuckles back to normal and rescue him. Doing him at the same time sounds impossible," Sally says.

"Well we have to do something. Knuckles is not Enerjak and he's our friend. We gotta do something," Sonic angrily says.

"I know, but it seems that our ideas are limited. Without knowledge of what happened, we'll be finished," Sally says.

"You're right about that, and it seems Finitevus knows what's going on and Eve is involved with it," Sonic says.

"I know. I just wish we have a clue to what happened to them," Sally says.

Maria and Shadow walk to the two with Julie-Su in Shadow's arms.

"Isn't there something we can do?" Maria asks, concerned.

"I wish I knew. If only we knew where Eve is. I'm very worried about her," Sally says, concerned.

Suddenly, a warp ring comes out and a pair of hands pulls Sonic and Sally through the portal. Shadow, who is holding Julie-Su, Maria, and Jazz, quickly jumps through the portal and it closes before anyone else can interact with it.

At the other side of the Warp Ring. The group flies out and lands on the ground. Jazz flies out and lands on Sonic's head.

Sonic stands up and angrily says, "Alright, who's the wiseguy here?! I've had enough surprises and been jerked around today!"

Just then, Locke grabs on to the Warp Ring and it shrinks, "I'm truly sorry, Sonic… but we have very little time, and I needed the two of you."

"Locke! Boy, am I glad to see you! You need to do something about your son!" Sonic says.

"I know, Sonic! I know everything. Dr. Finitevus has gone to great pains to transform Knuckles. He has even blocked my ability to harness the Master Emerald," Locke says.

"So then, if you can't use its power, then…" Sally says, worried.

Locke confirms, "I cannot undo Finitevus' spell. I doubt that anyone can access its power," Locke says.

"So then, Knuckles will be stuck like this forever?" Maria asks worriedly.

"I'm afraid so… and who might you be?" Locke says, noticing the new face.

"This is Maria. She's actually a good friend of Eve and Shadow," Sally says.

But Shadow quickly asks, "Locke, have you seen Eve and her friends Fiona and Nic? They all came to the island together and never heard from them."

"Not only that, Knuckles put Julie-Su into a deep sleep so he can remove her cybernetic. We can really use your help," Sally says.

Locke remains silent a little and says, "Follow me."

The group then follows Locke and hope he'll give us some answers. Soon, the group walks to a secret entrance to a cave and walk inside. There, they see Athair, Moritori-Rex, Fiona and Nic. Fiona and Nic quickly turn their heads and are relieved to see familiar faces.

"Sonic! Sally!" Fiona happily says.

"Shadow, Maria, Jazz, and Maria too. Glad to see some familiar faces," Nic says.

"Nic! Fiona! You're safe!" Maria happily says.

"Yes. I just wish I can say the same about Eve," Fiona sadly says.

She and Nic turn their heads, allowing Sonic and the others to follow the same direction. They soon gasp in shock. What they see is Eve laying in the bed with the Dark Chaos Energy flowing around her body and is in a deep sleep.

"Eve!" Shadow and Sonic exclaim and quickly run to her.

Sonic calls out in a panic, "Eve! Are you alright?!"

"Eve, wake up…" Shadow says, reaching out to Eve.

Just then, Moritori-Rex grabs Shadow's wrist, "Stop. Eve is corrupted by an evil Dark Chaos Energy. I know because Finitevus is the one who placed the curse on the Master Emerald. It might end up corrupting anyone who has strong potential to control the Chaos Energy. And it continues to grow. It might end up taking over Eve's mind if we don't remove it."

Maria worriedly says, "Poor Eve."

"Chao Chao," Jazz sadly says.

Shadow turns to Moritori and demands, "How could this have happened?! What did Finitevus do to her?!"

"Shadow, you need to calm down," Sally says.

Athair says, "Eve was trying to rescue Knuckles when he touched the Master Emerald that was hexed by Finitevus. Fiona and Nic were able to find her, but she has already been tainted. And I'm afraid it's giving Eve terrible pains as it continues to try to corrupt her."

"Is there something we can do to help her and Knuckles? Eggman captured Knuckles and Eve is in a terrible condition," Sally asks.

Locke says, "Not long ago, the Brotherhood of Guardians prepared for the possibility of Enerjak's return. Dr. Finitevus had sent the Destructix to guard the device."

"And without the Master Emerald, you need some extra muscle. No problem," Sonic says.

"Yes. Sadly, I fear about using this device on Eve, especially on my son," Locke says.

"Why is that?" Nic asks.

"We created the weapon hoping it will destroy Enerjak," Locke says.

"So, we'll get the gizmo, have Knuckles back to normal and cure Eve," Sonic says.

Locke sadly sighs, "I'm afraid you do not understand. I've been desperately trying to find another way to cure anyone who could be possessed by Enerjak, especially since Knuckles becomes that terror and Eve is on the verge of it. If we used the device and destroyed Enerjak… Knuckles and Eve… will be sacrificed in the process."
