Enerjak Reborn Saga Episode 5: Desperate Times Chaos Measures

In Eggman's secret base, Dr. Eggman sees Knuckles who is Enerjak still trapped in the Egg Grapes. He watches as the Egg Grapes are training Enerjak's energy.

Eggman manually laughs and says, "Look how the mighty has fallen! The 'all-powerful' Enerjak is now my personal Chaos-Powered Battery. And those Hedgehogs have no clue what I have in store for them. I may be down to those last few Egg Grapes, but the power I sap from Enerjak will be more than enough for my next big project."

Suddenly, Snively enters the room and says, "While I hate to interrupt your mid-victorious rant. I found a stowaway from New Mobotropolis."

Eggman turns his head to see Snively is holding what's left of Dimitri that is in a bubble.

"Good afternoon, Dr. Eggman, was it?" Dimitri says.

Confused, Eggman asks, "Snively, what is that thing?"

"It is I, Dimitri. I suppose I look less… than what I'm used to. I came to offer my help," Dimitri says.

"You help me?" Eggman asks, curiously.

"Yes. I tried to warn Sonic, Eve, and the Freedom Fighters, but most were too slow to act. When your Egg Fleet came to New Mobotropolis. I left the fools to their lot," Dimitri says.

"Deciding to join the winning team, eh?" Eegman asks with a smirk.

"As it were, yes. With my help. We may be able to de-power Enerjak before his disorientation wears off," Dimitri says.

"Tut tut… As you can see… everything is under control!" Eggman says.

In the Egg Grapes, Enerjak is still trapped inside the Egg Grapes as the Chaos Energy is flowing through him.

Meanwhile somewhere on Angel Island, Sonic and the others leave the Warp Ring and look to see no one is around. Sonic, Sally, Shadow, Locke, and Fiona walk out to find this device, much as Shadow, Sonic, and Locke are completely against the idea.

"So this is where this device is at?" Fiona asks.

"Yes. And I suspect Scourge and the Destructix are there as well. We must be careful about running into them," Locke says.

"Don't worry, we took care of those jerks before and we can do it again," Sonic says.

Then Sonic and the others begin to walk to where the device is kept.

"Still, I can't believe Finitevus was able to pull all of this off. Freeing the Destructix, recruiting Scourge, you leaving the Island, and joining the Dark Legion was all part of his plan," Sally says.

She sighs in remorse, "I only wished we learned what his true intention was sooner."

"Do Sally, if anything… I felt that I was partly to blame for believing him to begin with," Locke says.

"No it's not. None of this is your or the Brotherhood's fault, and I don't think the Dark Legion is to blame either. Finitevus used all of you for his plan to destroy this world and used Knuckles to do it," Sonic says.

"What we need to do now is to find this device, and hopefully we won't find any…" Fiona says.

Fiona walks through the bushes and comes to a halt as she nervously says, "Resistance."

Sonic and the others come out and stop in their tracks to see Scourge and the Destructix.

"Welcome back, old man. What do you want to say in your eulogy?" Scourge remarks.

"Scourge!" Sonic angrily says.

"Oh good, the blue hedgehog and stripes decided to face me," Scourge says with a smirk.

"Enough talk Scourge! Where's Finitevus?! He has a lot to answer!" Shadow angrily demands.

"Still short tempered as usual, Stripes. If you want to find Spooky Von Evil, you'll have to fight me for that info," Scourge says.

Shadow cracks his knuckles as he grits his teeth, "That can be arranged!"

Shadow then speeds to Scourge and spin dash. Scourge spin dashes back and both of them counter each other. Shadow then speeds and kicks Scourge in the face.

Sally calls out, "Alright guys, we need to fight the Destructix to find this device and see if they know where Finitevus is."

"Right," Fiona says.

With that, the group begins to fight off the mercenaries to get the information they need.

Back in the secret cave, Eve is still on the verge of waking up, but she still has the Dark Chaos Energy around her. At the same time, her Master Emerald sword begins to glow. Soon, Eve begins to wake up with her eyes half open, and begins to sit up. Eve grits her teeth and clutches her stomach in pain.

Eve mutters, "Knuckles… Knuckles is in trouble."

Eve struggles to get off of bed and begins to area. Suddenly, Eve teleports herself outside of the cave and begins to walk into the forest of Angel Island.

"I… I need to find Knuckles. I need to help him. I… I can hear him suffering inside," Eve mutters.

She feels the pain of the Chaos Energy and the Hex, but continues walking.

She mutters, "I refuse to allow Knuckles to suffer… and… I refuse to be corrupted by this power. I need to find Sonic and Shadow… and help them."

Eve continues to walk with struggle and tries to help her friends. Still, her Master Emerald Sword begins to glow and is beginning to flow around her body to counter the Hex and the Dark Chaos Energy. And none of them is stopping Eve from wanting to help her friends.

Back in the Egg Grapes Chamber, Enerjak continues to have a strong Chaos Energy. Soon, Enerjak begins to counteract the Egg Grapes' energy and blue electricity begins to overflow them. In the lab, Snively begins to notice something wrong on his computer.

He nervously says, "S-Sir, we're reading a sudden surge in energy!"

"Are you doubting the ability of my Egg Grapes, Snively?" Eggman demands.

"No… but it seems Enerjak is controlling the energy somehow," Snively nervously says.

Looking at the data' Dimitri fears the worst, "Sweet merciful aurora! He's awake!"

In the Egg Chamber, Enerjak opens his eyes and the Dark Chaos Energy flows around him. Then he spreads it around destroying the Egg Grapes and even the Egg base. Eggman and Snively have no choice, but to retreat.

Eggman angrily shouts, "How dare he damage my base! Sniverly, prep my Eggmobile! I'll be sending my Egg Fleet in!"

"Sure, and then I'm going to the bunker!" Snively panics.

Dimitri follows Eggman and Snively as he thinks, "Now there will be no one who can stop Enerjak!"

Back on the island, Sonic and the others are still fighting Scourge and the Destructix. Locke ducks his head before Simian can punch him, but ends up hitting Drago instead.

"I should have known better when Dr. Finitevus said you were reformed mercenaries!" Locke says.

Sally lands Drago and counters a hit from Lightning Lynx.

"We've taken you Destructix down before!" Sally angrily says.

"Indeed. However, you're still outnumbered, and not permitted to let you win," Lightning says.

At the same time, Sonic and Scourge are racing neck and neck.

"This is sad, even for you! The Destructix are a joke!" Sonic remarks.

"There's perks to being part of a team…" Scourge says.

Suddenly, Flying Frog hits Sonic on the back of the head.

"Especially when the joke's on you!" Scourge says.

Suddenly, Fiona punches Flying Frog in the stomach and sends him to the ground.

"And of course, the joke is on you too," Fiona says.

Shadow is able to punch Lighting out of the way, and join up with Sally and Locke. How they find themselves cornered by Simian, Drago, and Predator.

Sally turns to Locke, "You're a Guardian like Knuckles, right? Why don't you use your Chaos powers on these guys?"

"I can't," Locke answers.

"Why not?" Shadow asks.

"Dr. Finitevus has blocked my link to the Master Emerald as I told you earlier. As a result, I am unable to pull from the Chaos Force like Knuckles," Locke says, and grabs Simians fist before he can get hit.

"I'll bet Finitevus wanted that to happen. Since you were looking for the rest of the Guardians, it gave him enough time to Hex the Master Emerald behind your back," Shadow says.

"Yes, but I have to find them. The Brotherhood were gone and I had to find them. I tried to contact Knuckles, but was cut off," Locke says.

Sally then says, "It happened because of A.D.A.M. He damaged Nicole's system and used Shadow and Eve for his plan to use the prophecy to gather every Chaos Emerald in the universe, including the Master Emerald. Luckily, we were able to stop him and A.D.A.M is destroyed. We weren't able to make much contact because of what A.D.A.M did. Knuckle also tried to contact you, but you seem rather busy with being Guardian."

"Seems that all of us had work to do, especially with Dr. Eggman being the case," Locke says.

At the same time, Sonic is able to dodge the attack.

He angrily says, "Okay, guys! Seriously! Back off!"

Just then, Scourge kicks him, "HA! Feeling the heat, Blue?"

Soon Sonic skids to the dirt and grains in pain. He then lifts his face up and spits some dirt from his mouth.

Sonic then turns to the ground, "Hey, guys. Having fun yet?"

"Not really," Sally answers.

Soon, the group ends up finding themselves surrounded by Scourge and the Destructix. Back in the cave, Julie-Su is still resting in the bed soon she begins to open her eyes and wake up. She sits up and notices the surrounding area she is in is different.

"What… what happened? Knuckles?" Julie-Su softly asks.

"Julie-Su," A voice calls out.

Julie-Su turns her head to see Maria and Nic running to her with Jazz flying from behind.

"Maria? Nic? Jazz? What happened?" Julie-Su asks.

"We're on Angel Island. Athair and Moritori are letting us stay here while Sonic, Locke, Shadow, and the others find a device and Finitevus," Maria says.

"Yeah. Finitevus is the reason why Knuckles became Enerjak," Nic says.

"Finitevus?" Julie-Su says, shocked.

Then says on the verge of tears, "And Knuckles…"

Julie-Su remembers how Knuckles is revealed to be Enerjak and she has tried to reason with him.

"Wha-what happened to me though?" Julie-Su asks.

"I know it's hard, but Knuckles knocked you out and tried to turn your robotic parts into organic. Sonic is able to stop him, but Knuckles is too strong for us. And now, Eggman has him trapped," Maria says.

"What? Then we gotta rescue him," Julie-Su panics.

"Not until we got a good plan. As of now, Eggman's abduction was able to buy us some time. And apparently, Finitevus is after Eve too," Nic says.

Julie-Su turns her head and asks, "Uh, where is Eve?"

Maria, Nic, and Jazz turn their heads to notice Eve is not in bed anymore. The covers have fallen off and the pillow looks crushed.

"Eve's gone?" Maria asks, shocked.

"Where could she have gone?" Nic asks.

"I'll tell Athair and tell them what happened," Maria says.

Unknown to them Eve continues to struggle, now she is trying to run to find Sonic and Shadow, and hopefully, find Knuckles.

"I,,, I need to find Sonic and Shadow… and help save Knuckles…" Eve says, struggling.

Then begins to the verge of tears and says, "Knuckles… It was because I wasn't able to stop what happened in time. I'm sure of it."

Suddenly, Eve begins to hear the sound of punches and kicks, going on. Eve then struggles to rush over to find Sonic and the others fighting Scourge and the Destructix. Eve soon sees Sonic and Shadow.

"Sonic… Shadow…" Eve says, struggles to say.

Soon, the dark energy begins to cause Eve pain again causing her to grit her teeth in pain. Seeing both her brothers threatened is something she isn't very pleased to see. Suddenly, Eve's eyes begin to glow green again. Then she turns her head to see the fighters. Out in the open, Sonic and the others are surrounded by Scourge and the Destructix and are starting to get tired. Seeing

Sonic says, "These guys are tough."

"It's no wonder they're mercenaries," Sally says.

"But we can't stop. Those guys have answers," Shadow says, still full of fury.

"Looks like we got those pests taken care of," Predator says.

"Not quite. I still have a score to settle with the blue pest," Scourge says, cracking his knuckles. Then begins to walk to Sonic with a sinister smirk.

Sonic grits his teeth to see Scourge is planning to punch him in the face. Before Scourge can strike a black, red, and green dash hits Scourge and sends him crashing to the ground. Scourge grunts as he quickly stands up.

Confused, Scourge asks, "What the?"

Sonic and the others are shocked to see a familiar black and red hedgehog that has dark chaos energy around her. However, her sword glows bright and is trying to counter the dark energy.

"Eve?" Sonic and Shadow exclaim in shock.

Eve says nothing and begins to throw multiple Chaos Spears all over the area. Everyone begins to dodge the attack. In a way, Eve is keeping the Destructix away from Sonic, Shadow, and the others and the entrance.

Sonic shouts, "Eve, you can stop now! Eve stop!"

"I don't think she can hear you!" Locke says.

"What do you mean?" Sonic asks.

"I'm afraid the Hex is trying to take control of her, while at the same time, Eve is trying to gain control of herself," Locke says.

Sonic turns to Eve who is fighting the Destructix in concern, "Eve."

Eve continues to throw the Chaos Spears at different areas and the Destructix are able to dodge the attack. Soon. Eve lands on the ground and like before, Eve's body flickers the strange outfit on her. Soon Eve falls to her knees in exhaustion.

"Eve!" Sonic panics and rushes to her. Shadow does the same.

Scourge and the Destructix look to see Eve has stopped firing and are stunned to see how powerful she is. Before anyone can react, a firewall appears, blocking Sonic Shadow, and Eve away from Scourge and the Destructix. The source of the fire is Archimedes.

The fire ant shouts, "I'll lay down another wall of cover fire! You all get inside!"

Sonic and the others nod their heads and begin to hurry inside the cavern. Shadow holds Eve in his arms and follows Locke and the others down to some underground ruin.

Confused, Sonic asks, "Remind me, the fire-breathing ant is?"

"Archimedes. A former mentor of mine and currently Knuckles' mentor," Locke says.

"And a recurring voice of reason, I'd like to think," Archimedes says, appearing on Locke's hand.

"Hello, old friend. Is the weapon safe?" Locke asks.

"Yes, but we won't be using it, Locke. And I know you don't want to use it on him either. Knuckles' transformation is our own fault, and you know that as well as I do. And now we have to deal about another Enerjak if Eve isn't able to fight much longer," Archimedes says.

Suddenly, Eve mutters, "Shadow."

Everyone turns their heads to see Eve waking up, but still have the two energy around her.

"Sonic… Shadow… wha-what are you doing here? Where am I?" Eve asks.

"Well we were worried. When we found out you, Fiona, and Nic decided to go on a mission without us. But, you were smarter than us about trying to find out about the problem sooner. Wish you would have let me and the others know," Sonic says.

"I'm sorry. And I'm sorry, it all happened to Knuckles because I couldn't stop what was happening," Eve says.

"You're not to blame Eve. Finitevus set all the Echidnas up, especially using Knuckles as a pawn," Sonic says.

Eve then says, in fear and sadness, "Sonic… I… I saw then… I saw what was going on Knuckles' mind. Maybe it's because I absorbed the Master Emerald. All of his memories of Enerjak flow into my mind and I saw them all. I saw exactly what he saw. He may be Enerjak now, but Knuckles is somehow fully aware of what was happening in front of him. Deep inside, Knuckles is trying to fight against Enerjak, but can't do it alone. We have to help him!"

Everyone in the room is shocked. Eve is crying as she explains what she is feeling. They can see that by absorbing the hex and the Master Emerald's power, she can feel, see, and hear what Knuckles is as Enerjak, and he is suffering in there.

"We need to free Knuckles. All the pain and suffering he's having right now. We have to save him," Eve says.

"Oh Eve," Shadow says, worried.

"Well then, it's a good thing I found this," Sonic says.

The group turns to see Sonic has the device. It's a silver rod with some kind of arrow at the end.

"From what I see, Knuckles is still somewhere in Enerjak and Eve is feeling it. Using that thing is useless if Eve and Knuckles struggle to fight for control," Sonic says.

Suddenly, someone shouts, "Hold it, Sonic."

Everyone turns their heads to see The Destructix.

Sleuth says, "Dr. Finitevus hired us to keep you from using the weapon on his precious Enerjak."

"Oooooooooh! Well, if that's the base…" Sonic says.

Sonic then tosses the weapon in the air and spin dashes it, shattering it into pieces. When Sonic lands on the ground, the pieces of the weapon hit the ground.

"I hope you guys aren't planning on charging for overtime. Are we done here?" Sonic replies.

"I-I suppose so,"Sleuth says.

Then says, "Destructix, fall back."

And so the Destructix begins to leave the area.

Scourge says, annoyed, "Pssht! It was my idea to smash it in the first place."

"Oh brother," Fiona replies, rolling her eyes.

With that the Destructix leaves the scene and things have cooled down, for now.

"So then, what do we do now?" Sally asks.

"Don't worry Sal, I actually have a plan, and I'm going to need Shadow's help for this one," Sonic says.

"What plan do you have in mind?" Shadow asks.

"Just follow me and I'll explain to you on the way," Sonic says.

Shadow nods his head and places Eve on the ground.

He turns to Locke and the others, "Watch Eve for me."

Sally nods her head and with that Sonic and Shadow speed off to who knows where. They both speed past the Destructix and through the forest of the Island. They hope that they're not too late to fix this mess.

Meanwhile at Eggman's base, Enerjack is destroying any robot, badnik and fleet Eggman can throw at him. Enerjak uses his Chaos Energy to fight against him. Luckily, Eggman, Snively, and Dimitri are able to get away and watch what is happening from the Egg mobile.

Snively reports, "Sir, we've lost over ninety percent of our ground forces. Most of the outlying is… gone... We've lost."

"Not yet, Snively. There's still Egg Fleet," Eggman says.

He looks up to see the Egg Fleet flying towards Enerjak, "There won't be enough left of Enerjak to fill a petri dish."

Just then, the Egg Fleet fires their missiles at Enerjak. The missile almost hit their target.

But Enerjak holds his hand in front and commands, "Stop!"

And the missiles stop in a matter of seconds.

He then swifts his hand and says, "Return."

With that, the missiles reverse and destroy every last of the Egg Fleet in one fell swoop. Eggman and Snively are stunned and looking a bit pale. As Enerjak, Knuckles is able to take out all of his robots.

Dimitri turns to Eggman, "Doctor, I think it's time we got to your bunker."

"I-I-I… yes," Eggman admits, still looking pale.

With that, Eggman decides the best is to retreat. Back at what's left of Eggman's base, Enerjak removes his helmet, and feels tired from what he had to endure.

"There. I was planning on punishing Dr. Eggman, anyway," Enerjak says.

Suddenly, Enerjak feels a sharp pain and holds his head with his right hand, "Ungh…"

"The Egg Grapes took a surprising amount of power from me. I must return to the Master Emerald," Enerjak adds.

Enerjak then uses his Chaos Energy to teleport himself back to the Master Emerald Chamber, and lands his feet on the ground. Finitevus, who is already there, quickly turns around to see the powerful being.

"Enerjak! What happened to you?" Finitevus asks, surprised.

"My power has been depleted. I need more. My work is not finished!" Enerjak says.

"Your work. Of course," Finitevus says with an evil smile.

He then raises his hand as they glow a dark Chaos Force. At the same time, Enerjak places his helmet back on.

Finitevus then then performs the rite, "The servants are the Seven Chaos. Chaos is power, enriched by my will…"

Before he can finish the ride, a blue spin dash lands on the ground then smacks Finitevus.

A familiar voice says, "That will be enough of that, guys!"

Then a black and red color blur does the same thing, instead it hits Enerjak on the back of the head. Then both of the blurs land on the Master Emerald, revealing to be Sonic and Shadow.

Finitevus regains himself and shouts in rage, "Stop! What are you doing?!"

"Something Scourge tried not sometime ago," Sonic says.

"And put a stop to your evil ambitions," Shadow adds.

Sonic and Shadow soon begin to channel the Master Emerald's power.

Sonic then says, "Don't worry Knuckles! We'll neutralize Finitevus' Voodoo the same way Eve and I undid Perfect Chaos…"

Enerjak soon regains himself and turns his head to see Sonic and Shadow are channeling the Master Emerald's power.

Before he can prevent it, Finitevus stops him and says, "This may be just what I need."

Sonic and Shadow's forces continue to be channeled by the Master Emerald's power. Soon, both Sonic and Shadow turn to a gold color.

Sonic smirks and says, "We're going to beat the evil out of you!"
